I got a Theory on how Mikey learned how to open a Time Portal in the Bad Future!

We all saw Michelangelo open a portal to the past in the Bad Future and in the Fixed Present he's at least now able to open portals to different dimensions. Both are incredibly dangerous to use without help.

I believe that a certain someone taught him how to actually use the Time Travel ability since he actually KNEW it would kill him (because of his human DNA), but who?

My first thought was Baron Draxum, but then I remembered something.

If Barry had access to such abilities, he would've found out that the Krang were the ones to endanger the Yokai and NOT the humans!

So he didn't know about it, therefore he couldn't have been the one to teach it to Mikey. So that's leaves someone with a history of Time Travel.

So, who appeared in the last Nick Reincarnation of TMNT who was not only a Time Traveler, but was also quite close with Michelangelo?

Renet!

So being a Time Traveler, Renet (now a powerful yokai who wouldn't die using her powers) is sent to at least help the Turtles fix their past since that Future was obviously doomed.

Seeing that Mikey has great potential when it comes to his mystic powers, she teaches him and only him how to open a portal to the past, as well as telling him it would kill him.

Which is why the Time Portal is a last resort move to make sure another timeline can be safe.

The Renetangelo Shipper in me wants to say they were together, but y'all can ignore that part.

She probably told them something like "You know... If one of you are sent back in time and manage to change the past, this future will still remain, so whoever you sent back won't be erased from history and will have all of their memories of this future." Before leaving after teaching Michelangelo everything he needed to know or maybe she also dies in the bad future?.

Since they knew the out come, Leonardo planned ahead and decided that Casey would be the one to go. Because he couldn't live with the memories of losing his friends and family because of HIS OWN MISTAKE!

If I remember correctly..... 2012 Raphael isn't the only one who's into tall girls who can kick ass. In fact........

As much as I love the 2012 female characters I hate how they were all love interests.

April was the love interest for both Donnie and Casey causing a stupid and pointless love triangle, Karai was for Leo (and Casey had a thing for her too) and it turned out they were brother and sister, Mikey had TWO love interest Renet and Shinigami and that went nowhere, and then Raph had Mona Lisa which was the only couple I enjoyed but they didn’t get proper treatment which upsets me.

The only female character that was not a love interest for anyone was Alopex and she only appeared in ONE EPISODE!

There were other female characters on the show but they were more of background characters then the main cast.

I’m so glad rottmnt is giving us so many female characters that no turtle has an attraction too, but I’m kinda curious if they will ever give the turtles love lives.

Thanks for sharing the template! This looked fun, so I figured I might as well do one of my own.

Okay, explanation time.

I sort of just gathered some images of my top ships and tried my best to shove them into the most appropriate categories, even if they didn't really fit. Most of these could've worked for multiple categories tbh, but I really wanted to limit it to one ship per category.

Adorable - 2012 Michelangelo and Renet. What else is there to explain? They're cute.

Hot - Rise Lou Jitsu and Big Mama. I wasn't too sure who to put in this category at first. Most of the ships on this list consist of minors, so that'd be pretty creepy for me as a legal adult to put any of them into that category. Not sure I would call these two hot, but I didn't know what else to do with them lol.

Plausible - 2012 Raphael and Mona Lisa. OKAY so I know that they are technically a canon couple, but I was genuinely unsure of where to put them since they fit many categories. I decided to treat "plausible" as "plausible to stick together permanently." Let's face, if all of the ships on this list were to become canon (if not canon already) and only one of the relationships was going to actually work out, it would totally be Raph and Mona.

Alike - IDW Jennika and Sheena. Alright, as I'm writing this, I'm realizing they're actually more different than I initially thought. Jenny is a former criminal who ended up joining the turtles, and if I remember correctly, Sheena was just someone caught up in the Mutagen Explosion. To me, they both seemed to be more driven emotionally, but I still feel like Jenny was more level headed and less impulsive than Sheena (likely due to her rough background).

Still, temperament wise, I'd say they're overall very similar. They similar interests in music and are both in bands (Jenny forming a band after Sheena's encouragement). Even though their backstories are different, they do have the very strong similarity of starting off human and being mutated later in life. All in all, not too different (although, arguments could be made for other ships to be in that position).

Opposites - Rise Donatello and April. Similar to the last one, they actually aren't too different, and arguments could be made for other ships. They both share a lot of passion and zaniness that drives their adventures. They even have similar interests, liking the same movies, video games, and both enjoying STEM. I feel like what really separates them is their overall attitudes.

April is a very openminded person who is more than willing to try and dive deep into new things. We see this through her large array of interests and jobs. Meanwhile, Donnie is pretty content with the things he likes, and isn't too comfortable into delving into something new. Once he is interested in something, that new thing is the only thing he'll focus on for the next week (as seen with the Purple Game). He is less than pleased to be interrupted with something new during times of hyperfixation.

I feel like the best example of these two having completely different mindsets is the episode, Donnie vs Witch Town. The entire episode, Donnie struggles to accept the witches' ways, and continuously tries to force science upon them. This is revealed to stem from Donnie's insecurity of not being able to beat magic, but Donnie's stubbornness against magic is mentioned throughout episode, even after the revealing moment he has with April when he tries to make right with the witches.

On April's end, she is clearly excited about the witch town's magic, but makes it very clear to Donnie at the end of the episode that she loves both and magic and science. April recognizes that magic and science have their pros and cons, hence why she believes they work best together. April naturally is more openminded and willing to try new things than Donnie. Not to say Donnie can't be openminded, I just wouldn't say he's predisposed to do so.

Canon - 2003 Casey and April. They're not the only canon couple here, but they are the only couple in this batch to get married. Plus, I wasn't sure where else to put them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

Subtext - 2012 Karai and Shinigami. This is one of those things where it's canon, but it's not canon. I don't even know how to describe it, they just feel like girlfriends. Mind you, I'm someone who usually just assumes fictional characters are straight unless there is confirmation of otherwise. The vast majority of people are straight, so that thought process of mine usually follows into the media I consume. Therefore, the fact that I of all people am getting lesbian vibes from these gals, should say something. Heck, even one of the writers ships it. To me, it is totally canon, it's just never been brought up in the show. I am certain that if the 2012 show was made today, Karai and Shini would be dating.

Fanwork - 2012 Slash and Alopex. I first heard of the ship through fanworks, and I decided I liked it. :D

CAN - 2012 Donatello and April. I'm going to be totally honest, 2012 Donnie and April is my guilty pleasure ship. It's so bad that it's good, y'know? The worst part is, is that this is probably my favorite TMNT ship of all time. I know, I have total trash taste, but I think it's cute! Besides, had it been written better, I feel like it would be a very popular ship in the fandom (not saying that it isn't popular already, but I feel like more fans wouldn't see it as cringey as they do now).

It's weird, since I actually really enjoy reading/watching criticisms of Donnie and April's relationship. However, I also adore watching moments of them together in the show (even if they're cringey). It's one of those ships that I laugh and say "valid" when someone describes how much they hate it, and yet it is my genuine non-crackship OTP of the franchise. I must be broken, I legit don't know what other explanation there is for this.
