*One Win, So Many Losses- Marinette was forced to break up with Adrien. It had been a low blow from Gabriel, to be sure. But she was Ladybug. She’d find a solution…right? An alternate ending to Chat Blanc, where Adrien doesn’t Cataclysm the akuma.

*Perfect, No Matter What-In which Gabriel sets the bar even lower for himself, a reveal happens because of pain medication, and the new guardian actually goes to Chloé for advice.

*Crushed- Stuck under a collapsed building together, Chat Noir and Marinette have a heart to heart.

*Lovelace- Convinced that he's unlovable, Adrien is quickly thrown for a loop when Marinette confesses her love for him out of the blue. An akumatization and reveal later, he changes his mind about being unlovable.

*Tender Words- When Marinette finally gets the guts to confess her feelings for Adrien, some things go so wrong, and other things go so right.

*Integrity- Overwhelmed with her responsibilities, guilt, and drama, Marinette has an emotional breakdown in front of everyone, and even hands over her earrings in a moment of weakness. Only for a few seconds, but the damage was done. Adrien’s pretty quick on the uptake like that.

~Much Obliged- Everyone deals with grief differently. Some take to drinking, others devote themselves to charity. Adrien Agreste? Well, he became a cowboy. Marinette Dupain-Cheng is a witch, one of very few in the world. She knows what it’s like to be doubted, and assumed delusional. Maybe that’s why they got along so well. Or maybe it’s just because they both like big hats. AU where everything is the same, except instead of superheroes, Adrien is a Cowboy and Marinette is a witch. (Unfinished) (Based on a AU by @bugaboo-n-bananoir)

*I’ll Handle This- “I’ll solve all your problems,” Plagg had said. “You just have to agree to it.” A fixed relationship with his father, Lila to stop bothering him, and Ladybug to fall in love with him? The Ghost of Smokey Joe- Adrien Agreste was acting bizarre. Stilted body language, plastic smile, and he seemed to have forgotten how close they were. Before she can get the truth out of him, Marinette finds herself as the sole heir to the Gabriel brand and the mansion, following the murder-suicide of both Adrien and Gabriel Agreste. So @jake-marshall didn’t technically tag me but I’m doing this anyway bc I like talking about myself and movies I like. Here’s seven movies I consider to be comfort movies!

Peter Pan

I could really pick just about any animated Disney movie from up to the early 2000s and it would be a comfort movie for me. Anything from The Rescuers to Beauty and the Beast to Lilo and Stitch. But Peter Pan has got to be the comfiest for me ❤️ At the ripe old age of 4 Peter Pan was my first crush and my favorite game was to pretend to be Wendy and make my mom play every other character and I’d get mad when she didn’t have her lines memorized like I did lol. Wendy and Peter are just Peak Romance for me and I love them. I’d kind of like to write a book using the Peter Pan characters/universe and I’ve got some ideas but we’ll see if I ever get around to it lol. Fun fact! My tattoo was almost Peter Pan related but I switched to a rose instead.

How to Train Your Dragon

I’m trying to incorporate movies that came out when I was a variety of ages rather than just choosing a bunch of movies that came out before I was born even though it is SO tempting to do that. I think I was 11 or 12 when httyd came out? That was such a crazy time in my life and not everything was good but I remember the night I first saw this movie so well and at least for that night everything was good. I was with new friends on the roof of a car at a drive in. This is probably the first movie I saw with Charly, who I’m still friends with today. What’s not to love about this movie? The dragons! The characters! The story! Everything is wonderful! I also loved the other two movies and even kinda got involved in the fandom after the 2nd one but the 1st movie will always be the best.

Life of Pi

I’m such a nerd for animated moves and they’re by far my favorite but there’s a few live action movies I love and Life of Pi is one of them. Although I’m not really religious now, I grew up in a really religious family and somewhere around my teens I got really fed up with religious movies. They always seemed so fake and trying too hard to be inspirational. I first saw Life of Pi when it was assigned to us in a film studies class I was taking as a sophomore in college. And oh my god it’s how you do a religious movie right. This movie is stunning from start to finish and and heart wrenching in the best way. I guess it’s kinda weird to call a comfort movie heart wrenching but hey sometimes you need your heart to be wrenched.

My Hero Academia: Two Heroes

A couple years ago my brother introduced me to mha and we started watching it together. I didn’t really get into it until the 2nd season when things really started picking up and now it’s definitely one of my top favorite anime. Most of the time when my family goes to see movies we typically are all interested in the same movies so we all go together. When Two Heroes came out it was a really fun opportunity for just me and my brother to go out and see a movie. I love superhero stuff so much and this movie is just so much fun.

Harry Potter

I can’t really pick a single movie from the series since the whole thing is so comforting to me. This is turning into Oversharing Hour but it’s almost 5am as I’m writing this one so fuck it!! My sister was diagnosed with really really bad Multiple Sclerosis back when I was in high school. Most people can live a pretty normal life with MS but her’s is bad enough that she has to live in a nursing home and she’s pretty confused all the time. She loved Harry Potter and still does. I didn’t really get into Harry Potter until after she got sick, which is something I regret everyday, but seeing her smile when I give her Harry Potter socks or something equally silly makes me so happy. So when I watch a Harry Potter movie, not only do I get to enjoy a world and characters I absolutely love, but I get to feel a little closer to my sister too. ❤️

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

I love me some superhero shit and Spider-Man has been my fave superhero since I was a kid. Peter Parker is such a huge comfort character for me in any version. Marvel, Sony, comics, cartoons, whatever. You could probably call any Spider-Man movie a comfort movie for me but I decided to go with spider-verse bc it’s just so good. So, so good. It’s beautiful to look at and a wonderful story with such fun characters and I just love seeing Peter as a sad middle aged man.

Birds of Prey

I saw this movie in theaters three times. Three times. I love it so much. It has to be one of the craziest, funnest movies on the planet. I’m in love with every woman in this movie. I’m just hopelessly gay, really. I love antiheroes and I love ladies and I love creatively choreographed fight scenes and this movie has plenty of all of them. It’s great if you want to turn something on and not think for a while but it’s also great if you want to actually sit down and think hard about it bc there’s plenty to dissect if you feel like it. The protagonists are great, the antagonists are great, the aesthetic is great. Everything is great.

There we go! I think that’s seven! I tried to pick a large variety of different types of movies but I’m now realizing I picked a lot of superhero stuff lmao oh well. I guess that’s accurate to me. Superheroes and animation.

My Hero Academia / Monster Hunter World / How to Train Your Dragon

*rubs hands together*

Going based off of what I think when I first see the character, whether this be through personality, looks, vibes, etc. Also on mobile and I should get to sleep so I apologise if I miss anyone.

Midoriya: Rathian

A powerful queen. Protective of her family. Familiar to all. Midoriya's Rathian has adapted to his curiosity about the world and to his kindness. She is very protective of him, and she thinks of Midoriya as one of her young.

They met after she was gravely injured by none other than Midoriya himself. He shot her down from the sky and tracked her down himself, wanting to be a great hunter like his idol, All Might. She gave up and stretched her neck out for easier reach, the net taught around her body. Midoriya breathed and put his dagger to her jugular vein. Sweat began to run down his face and he tried to force his hands to stop shaking. All it would take would be one thrust, and the monster before him would bleed out.

A sudden snap of a stick broke his concentration. He threw himself away from the monster and tried to take several deep breaths in. He overheard some hunters talking about a nest nearby. They were going for the Rathian's eggs!

Midoriya groaned. The Rathian's eyes flew open as she heard the 'shk shk shk shk' sound of a knife cutting rope. Midoriya freed her from her restraints. He watched as the monster rose to her full size. "They're going for your nest. Go protect your family." he said. Before hobbling away, she roared viciously in his face. Midoriya watched her leave in both shame and frustration, but with hints of some strange connection pulling at his heart.

Midoriya snuck out and found her lying in his nest. He tried to be stealthy, but his attempt was futile. She stared at him with amber eyes that were laced in anger and sadness. She had been too late. When she finally got to her nest, her eggs were gone. Hurt from the fall, she didn't even attempt to chase after the thieves.

Midoriya wouldn't stop apologising. The monster didn't understand this human boy. He wasn't like the other hunters that came around. No... this human was too kind.

Midoriya hadn't even noticed in his rant that he had gotten closer to the monster. His eyes went wide and the Rathian bared her teeth as him. He yelped and jumped back. A rumble sounded in the Rathian's throat. Was she... laughing at him?

Over the next few weeks, Midoriya brought her meat and fish as she rested from her injuries. Even though she couldn't talk back, Midoriya told her about himself, about his mom, about his friends, and about human life in general. He thought it would be best to leave out information about All Might, as killer as that was for him.

They continued to bond until Rathian was fully recovered. Midoriya was sad to part ways and he even prepared a speech. Rathian had other ideas, though. In the middle of his speech, she picked him up by the collar of his jacket and took to the skies. She flung him up onto her back and flew with him for the rest of the day.

They have an unbreakable bond to this day.

A bit too HTTYD-ish? I like the idea. Midoriya will probably be the the only in-depth story-ish character.

All Might: Rathalos. The king himself. The greatest warrior needs an equally 'mighty' partner. So why not with his good ol' monster rival, Rathalos?

Bakugou: Bazelgeuse. The explodey Bagel in the scale. The dive bombing had never met a human who actually *challenged* it before. Of course, leave it to Bakugou to try to square up with a monster.

Todoroki: Teostra/Lunastra. A young man of higher blood got the attention of two certain equally royal feline monsters. He's the star child of the number two hunter and his renounced researcher wife. He's the combination of brawns and brains. His father has high expectations for this young man.

Bakugou: *points at Todoroki* "Haaaaaaah?????" *thrusts his finger continuously at him* "Why does he get to have TWO dragons?"

Uraraka: Paolomu. Flying balloon squirrel? Yes. It was love at first sight for Uraraka. She loves her rat monster. Paolomu and Uraraka have a trick where Paolomu takes a big breath in and then pushes the air out while underneath her. The air pressure makes Uraraka look like she's floating!

Iida: Legania. Swift and regal. Iida takes pride in his monster. It is his pride and joy as both a hunter and as a rider. Coming from a line of hunters, Iida had a hard time switching over to the idea of not hunting monsters. Legania was his family crest so it was only natural he would seek out one to ultimately befriend.

Kirishima: Lets face it. He has a monster friend in basically every locale. His buddy is a Barroth that has an equally (surprising) friendly disposition as its trainer. Kirishima is also friends with a Radobaan and an Odogaron. His laugh and smile is contagious.

Denki: Tobi-Kadachi. Lighting flying squirrel. Doctors can't explain why Denki is immune to thunderblight. It works out, though, because Tobi-Kadachi loves rubbing its trainer up and down. In its excitement, Tobi often forgets that the contact releases his stores up electric shocks...

Mina: Pukei-Pukei. Mina loves her googly-eyed poison bird. She takes personal offence to anyone who calls her partner ugly, and more times than not, the offender usually ends up with a black eye or two.

Tokoyami: Nargacuga. They were practically meant to be together. Both are masters at hiding in the shadows. They're also both mostly active at night. Not many other creature are active during this time, so they keep each other company.

Tsuyu: Jyuratogas. Tsuyu loves fresh-water swimming, so what better partner to have than a fresh-water monster? Because of its slimey texture, it often throws others off. Tsuyu doesn't mind, though!

Sero: Tigrex. Sero is fairly gangly. Tigrex is also fairly gangly. Sero created his own special bridle to ride Tigrex. He took inspiration from grabbing hooks and clutch claws.

Sato: Uragaan. Uragaan found its way to Sato by following the aroma of his baking. Now Sato has something that loves baked goods as equally as he does!

Jirou: Black Diablos. Both are weak to loud noises. They both stay in their own lane for the most part, but both are known for sometimes being hot headed. Despite their weakness to loud sounds, both find great joy in music.

Koda: Dodogama. Both are very good boys. Dodo's calm disposition is on the same wavelength as Koda's. They made a great team together.

Aoyama: Tzitzi-Ya-Ku. Aoyama loves showing off and loves being in the spotlight. Tzitzi can provide that spotlight. They were literally made for each other.

Shoji: Diablo. Both are strong, and both are just sort of there. Shoji acts as the eyes that Diablo doesn't really have. They have a solid wavelength with one another. Shoji is the only one able to keep a grip on Diablo when it charges.

Hagakure: Kushala-Daora. Hagakure is a master of the illusions. She's able to mask her presence from those around her. Similarly, Kushala is able to hide itself in the wind. The only thing that gives Hagakure away is the mantle that she always has on that protects her from the razer sharp gusts Kushala can create.

Mineta: Kulu-Ya-Ku. Both of them are just kind of there. Kulu loves its shiny objects like Mineta likes his playboy magazines. Its kind of hand in hand. Or talon in talon... Hand in talon?

Momo: Vaal Hazak. Upon first glance, one would assume Momo would be accompanied by a more... lively monster. Nobody really expected her to bond with the queen of the Rotten Vale. A powerful monster with an equally powerful trainer. Momo's inventor brain and her quick thinking allows her to create objects from what she is given in a pinch. This also means patenting her own face mask to be used when entering her monster friend's home. Vaal's back is more boney than fleshy.

Ojirou: Deviljo. Ojirou doesn't look like the type to be partnered with a toothy pickle. But wow, can that tail pack a punch! Once you get past the initial phases, Pickle isn't too bad. Except don't call it Pickle to its face. You might get launched a solid 50 meters away if you do.

are you going to change rosethorn and fishlegs's meat cute after httyd 3?

it’ll be the same generally, but minus the dragons? i haven’t seen the third, idk if they stay on berk or whatever, but either way, fishlegs and rosethorn bump into each other, it’s a very sweet moment, but also kind of “i am actively pursuing a woman to WIFE” mentality speeds up the whole crushing process, i haven’t decided what rosethorn’s dealio is, she is oriented in the same way but if she is coming from another village, there’d be dudes there… could very well mean she a) has very high standards (oh no, he’s meeting all of my standards) and is the local high demand lady, or b) previously was engaged but is no longer?

i do love the idea of rose being very oblivious to the large assortment of suitors she has or knows it very well and none of them do it, they don’t make the cut UNTIL she watches a guy drop 12249102 cards on the ground outside and she is like oh that one

eh, they have a whirlwind relationship that starts of excruciatingly slow and then bing bang boom, she probably likes fishlegs for the wild stories he tells of dragons and everything, very cute

I made a tweet about writing a HTTYD AU with KuroMahi and here’s the full fanfic~

“What are you looking at, Nii-san?” Hyde asked when he noticed his brother had stopped walking. He followed Kuro’s gaze down the hill to see what he was staring at. White wings shined brightly in the night and contrasted against the violet flowers at the bottom of the hill. “You don’t see Light Furies around here often. I wonder what he’s doing here.”

“It looks like he’s collecting flowers.” Kuro said. Dragons were territorial creatures but the man didn’t seem to be aggressive. His movements were smooth and regale as he placed lilies into a basket. His wings reflected the moonlight. They were white like snow and gleamed like crystal. Without meaning to, he spoke his thoughts aloud. “I heard Light Furies had beautiful wings but I never imagined…”

Hyde looked between the Light Fury and his brother. Anyone could see that he was mesmerized by the dragon. He had never seen his brother so awestruck before. He grinned mischievously and then shouted to the dragon below. “Hey, Light Fury, my brother thinks your wings are beautiful!”

“Hyde, no!” Kuro screamed and tried to cover his mouth. His face couldn’t be more red but he sneaked a glance at the dragon below. He had jumped behind a large boulder and Kuro knew that they likely scared him. They were Night Furies and many feared them. While they were dangerous dragons, they mostly kept to themselves though. He grabbed his brother and dragged him away. “Let’s go, Hyde.”

“Pardon me, are you the Night Fury that lives here?” He paused when the soft voice reached him. The Light Fury peered out from behind the boulder and watched him curiously. He waited for his answer and an awkward silence stretched between them. Kuro wondered if he should answer or leave without a word. Before he could decide, Hyde made the decision for him.

“Go introduce yourself, Nii-san!” Hyde pushed him a little harder than he intended to and accidental sent his brother rolling down the hill. As he tumbled, Kuro wrapped his wings around himself for protection. He tried to stop his descent and regain some of his dignity. He vowed to murder his brother once they were home. Why did he enjoy messing with his life so much?

Finally, he stopped but the ground was softer and warmer than he expected. He groaned and opened his eyes. Large, brown eyes stared down at him and Kuro’s breath was taken away. The dragon’s eyes were oddly familiar but he couldn’t place where he saw them before. Then, Kuro realized the position he was in. He was laying with his head on the Light Fury’s lap.

He quickly sat up and placed a respectful distance between them. Mahiru smiled as Kuro stumbled over words and said, “I’m glad I was able to catch you in time. You scared me when you fell down the hill like that. Are you hurt? I’m sorry that I surprise you and made you trip.”

“My brother pushed me.” He gave Hyde a frown over his shoulder. His brother showed no sign of remorse as he laughed and waved towards his brother. Behind him, the white dragon also chuckled but for a different reason. He motioned for Kuro to stand still as he moved closer to him. Kuro flinched away from him when he touched his back. Mahiru could see that he was confused so he explained.

“You landed on my basket when you rolled down the hill so your back is covered in flower. Let me get them for you. My name’s Mahiru.” He told him as he eased the flowers out of his hair and scales. Once he was finished, Mahiru faced Kuro. “This is Night Fury territory but I never thought I would actually meet one again. Don’t worry, I’m not here to fight or to steal anything.”

Mahiru picked up his crushed basket and set the flowers inside. His smile became a little sad as he went on. “My friend has a cold and I wanted to pick these lilies to cheer him up. Misono doesn’t go out much so I thought it would be nice to bring the outside world to him. This is your island so I was hoping you could tell me where other flowers grow.”

“My name’s Kuro. I’m sorry, I crushed your flowers.” Kuro wanted to apologize even though Mahiru wasn’t upset with him. He tried to think of something he could do. As he looked at the flowers, an idea came to him. “There’s a field with a larger variety of flowers I can show you. It should have enough flowers to fill a room.”

“Thank you, Kuro!” Mahiru’s smile shined in the night. He took his hand and rose a few feet into the air with a gentle flap of his wings. Kuro followed and flew into the sky with him. Once they were high enough to see the island’s landscape, Kuro gestured to the cliff. He moved behind Mahiru and placed his hand on his shoulder. He flew close to his side so he could point it out to Mahiru easier.

“Do you see that cliff on the east side of the island? A lot of different flowers grow there. I’m sure you’ll find something your friend will like.” Kuro told him. When he pulled away, he noticed that a blush was dusting Mahiru’s cheeks. He thought that Mahiru would be on his way right after he showed him the flowers. He began to fly back to his brother and he was surprised that Mahiru lingered.

“Kuro, I— umm, I was wondering…” Mahiru bashfully looked down at the ground.

“Yeah?” Kuro prompted. He didn’t know what to say himself. Suddenly, a rock hit the back of his head and Kuro turned around. His brows furrowed when he saw that it was Hyde. He was making vague, flapping gestures with his arms. Kuro knew that Hyde was trying to help him but he didn’t know what he was trying to say. “My wings?”

“Did you hurt your wings when you fell? It didn’t look like you had trouble flying earlier.” He quickly faced Mahiru again. It didn’t seem like he noticed his brother.

“No, I’m not hurt.” Hyde was better with people so he tried to imitate him. Kuro awkwardly flapped his dark wings and folded them above his head. “We both have wings and… flying is fun. Do you like to fly? Well, you’re a dragon too so you must love to fly.”

Kuro realized that he was rambling and embarrassing himself. He folded his wings in front of his face because he expected to see judgment in Mahiru’s eyes. A warm hand gently pulled his wing away from his face and their eyes met. There was only warmth in his brown eyes as he smiled. “I love to fly. I wanted to ask you if you could take me to the flowers.”

“If you really want me to.” He said. Most people were afraid of him so they tended to avoid him. He didn’t know how to speak with someone so open and kind. Kuro could feel his brother watching him and he hoped that he wouldn’t embarrass him. He decided to ignore Hyde and flew into the sky again. He gestured for Mahiru to follow him.

Mahiru nodded readily and followed him. He hovered close to his side and Kuro assumed that he only did so because he didn’t want to become lost. They flew together and Mahiru admired the land beneath them. From what he could see with the dim moonlight, he could only imagine how beautiful it was in the day. The cliff Kuro pointed to wasn’t far.

Suddenly, Mahiru took Kuro’s hand and pulled him downwards. He was confused but he let Mahiru drag him away. Kuro dodged the tree branches and he wondered where Mahiru was flying. As abruptly as he started, Mahiru stopped and tugged him into a cave. He placed his hand over Kuro’s mouth before he could ask him anything. They stood like that, pressed against the cave wall, for a moment.

Then Kuro noticed Hyde fly past the cave. He hadn’t realized that his brother had been following them but Mahiru had. He let him go and smiled up at him. Mahiru explained, “You’ve been acting nervous and I thought it was because of your brother’s teasing. Now that he can’t follow us, you can relax. We should walk to the flowers instead of flying so your brother can’t find us again.”

“Okay. It’s this way,” Kuro stepped out of the cave and held out his hand to help Mahiru. “Be careful, the rocks here are slippery. I’m surprised you sensed Hyde following us and spotted this cave so quickly. It’s well hidden. You must be a strong Light Fury.”

“Your brother isn’t the most subtle person in the world.” Mahiru giggled and placed his hand in Kuro’s. He tightened his grip slightly to keep him from slipping on the rocks. “I already knew about this cave before we flew over it. When I was a child, I played with my friend here. He’s a Night Fury like you. He showed me the flower patch we met in earlier and other places on this island.”

“That must’ve been one of my siblings. We’re the only Night Furies on this island.” Kuro wondered who he was referring to. As they walked through the forest, Kuro would lift the branches with his wing for Mahiru. He stood underneath the branch and Mahiru stopped beneath his black wing. He looked up at him and it seemed like he wanted to say something. Then he quickly dropped his gaze to the ground.

“I used to live on a nearby island and that’s how I became friends with the Night Fury. But I had to move to a new island. That was a long time ago and I’m certain that he doesn’t remember me anymore.” Even though he was looking down at the ground, Kuro could hear that he was a little sad and disappointed. He placed his wing lightly over his shoulders.

“If your friend is one of my siblings, I can introduce you.” He offered.

“It’s okay.” Mahiru shook his head with a soft smile. He walked forward to the cliff just beyond the bushes. It was layered with a variety of flowers like Kuro told him. His eyes brightened and he ran to the edge of the flower garden. He sat down and breathed in deeply. The sweet scent of the many flowers couldn’t compare to Mahiru’s smile.

He fixed his basket the best he could so he would be able to carry more flowers. He scanned the flowers and wondered which ones Misono would like most. Mahiru picked a simple, violet anemone and twirled the flower between his fingertips. Kuro sat next to him and watched Mahiru’s smile widen. He didn’t want to be caught staring again so he distracted himself by picking flowers as well.

“Do you like daisies?” Kuro asked and held his handful of daisies in front of him. He nodded in answer and took the flowers from him. Mahiru toyed with the flowers for a moment before he weaved the daisy together with other flowers. Soon he had a flower crown in his hands. He slipped the flower onto Kuro’s head and brushed his bangs out of his red eyes.

“I love them. My childhood friend taught me how to make these. He would make one every time I visited the island. He was a sweet dragon.” Mahiru pulled away from him and returned to picking flowers. His eyes held fond memories and his voice reflected that nostalgia. “I know Night Furies likes to keep to themselves. What do you like to do for fun?”

“I fish.” Kuro found himself talking more about himself than he usually would. He slowly relaxed and he enjoyed speaking with Mahiru. Dawn eventually broke over the horizon and Kuro realized that they had spent the entire night talking. The sunrise was beautiful but they were both disappointed that they had to part. His friend would worry if he didn’t return soon.

Mahiru stood and a tiny sigh escaped him. He wished he could stay with Kuro a little longer. He knew that it was time to leave. “I live pretty far from here so I should start flying back. Maybe next time I have the time to travel to this island again, I can stay longer. It was great to see you again, Kuro.”

“Again?” His wording caught Kuro’s attention.

Mahiru chuckled and moved to stand in front of him. He took the flower crown from him and placed it on his own head. A memory sparked in Kuro’s mind when Mahiru backed away from him. “The Night Fury I knew when I was little was named Sleepy Ash. I’m glad that you remembered the nickname I gave you even if you don’t remember me. I hope we can meet again.”

After saying those words, Mahiru spread his wings and began to fly away. “Wait! Where do you live, Mahiru? There are a lot of hunters in the area. I can fly with you back to your island.”

Mahiru was a little surprise by his offer. He didn’t think Kuro would leave his island because of his dragon nature. He floated back to him and said, “I would love that.”

As much as I love this concept, I don’t know if I would make a sequel to this.

SOOO, I watched both HTTYD movies and the series and this came to me (maybe I’ll post info of the au later, or continue the fic)

If you have ever heard about dragons you know 2 things:

1-They breathe fire.

2-They’re really hard to kill.

Okay, maybe not THAT hard, but still.

Maybe if you have heard of dragons you have probably heard that they’re hard to find, well, that’s a lie or at least it is in Domino’s island in where dragons attack the town day and night, okay not always but not rarely.

Life in Domino was nothing close to easy, especially for a weakling like Yugi Muto, son of the chief and young genius, thought only Sugoroku (Yugi’s grandfather) and Ryo (Yugi’s best bud and also a weakling) were the only ones that cared about that.

Here are a few things you need to know about the boy:

1-It has been proven that Yugi was the weakest, tiniest most evasive, sneakiest Viking of all Domino.

2-He enjoyed long solo walks in the forest.

And.

3-Dragons like Yugi, and I don’t mean it like they never attack him or something, no, I mean that almost where ever he goes a dragon arrives

Now that you know this let us continue.

It happened a day of summer, it was cold, why? Because in Domino exist only 2 kinds of weathers: cold and fucking cold; but that’s unimportant, the important thing is that, as often happened, Yugi had a fight with his father and he escaped to the forest.

Away from the town, Yugi sat under a tree, hugged himself and cried, he stayed there for a while and he felt a strong breeze that came out of nowhere, he tensed up, he knew what that meant, he looked up and froze on his place.

A Gandora with black scales descended in front of him; a scream died in Yugi’s throat and all he could do was stare with wide eyes at the dragon in front of him.

The mighty beast stood there his red eyes staring at Yugi and the fear in Yugi’s heart dissipated, Yugi was amazed by the beauty of the magical creature.

They stared at each other for what felt like an eternity, then out of nowhere the dragon put his forehead against Yugi’s squishing Yugi’s nose against its black scales, for a moment Yugi stopped breathing, his heart thrummed loudly in his ears and he felt the Gandora’s skull vibrate against him as it purred.

Yugi’s eyes had dried out a moment ago; slowly he raised his hands and placed them at the sides of the Gandora’s face.

The dragon’s long tail rested around Yugi and Yugi felt peaceful until.

“Yugi!” he heard Ryo yell his name.

The dragon moved as fast as light and before Yugi could blink it was gone.

“Yugi!” Ryo tackled-hugged him with tears in his eyes but Yugi didn’t react at all, he was in shocked as his brain processed what had happened “I was so worried!” Yugi stared at his hands as if they were something he had never seen before “What happened? Please stop disappearing like that”

Yugi finally reacted.

“Ryo you won’t believe what just happened!” the boy turned to his friend still trapped in the white haired arms.

Yugi told is fried about the Gandora, Ryo’s mouth hung open.

“I want to think you hallucinated”

“I didn’t” Yugi glared at his friend.

“Oh, I know that” Ryo grabbed Yugi face “You sure it was a dragon?” Yugi nodded “And a black Gandora?” Yugi nodded again “Amazing, just, amazing I would have loved to see that”

They sat in silence for some minutes until Ryo spoke again.

“So what happened?” Yugi was by now free of Ryo’s arms, both sitting and looking at the distance.

“mm?”

“The chief was in a bad mood”

“He’s always in a bad mood” none looked at the other.

“You know what I mean”

“You know what happened, is always the same”

“But something more happened, right?”

Instead of sadness Yugi felt hollowness.

“He threw my chess to the fire after he yelled at me”

“Oh Yugi” Ryo hugged the boy again “If you want I can make you a new one” Yugi sighed.

“It’s not that Ryo, it’s just” the tears Yugi didn’t know still had rolled down his face “My mom made it for me, it was one of the last things I have of her” Yugi sobbed.

Yugi’s mother had died by an illness a few years prior, it had affected everyone in town, especially Yugi and his father, and their relationship, when they had Yugi’s mom there they’re relationship was rocky but now that she was gone their relationship had gone from bad to worst.

“I’m sorry” said Ryo and soothed his friend.

After Yugi finally calmed down, they returned to town, it was almost night; they parted ways at Yugi’s house.

Yugi sneaked into his bedroom, without changing clothes he threw himself onto his bed and stared at the ceiling remembering his past encounters with dragons.

Like that one time stumbled over a tri-horned dragon, he screamed and ran back to town with dragon right behind him.

Or that time Yugi fell on a Spyro nest, he screamed and ran back to town, again followed by the dragon.

Also that time he was kicking rocks and he accidentally hit a Cyleer, just as the other times he screamed and ran into town with the dragon behind him.

Yugi noticed the pattern; he should really stop doing that.

He thought about the Gandora, his heartbeat grew faster as he remembered the beast, he wanted to see it again, he knew it was a foolish idea not because it was a dragon but because the probabilities of find it again where slim.

Against of what he thought, but you knew this already, he found the dragon, actually it was the dragon who found him, but it doesn’t matter who found who because that doesn’t change what happened.

Yugi had had a strong fight whit his father again, it seems like the dragon could sense Yugi’s feelings and again, it cuddled Yugi and purred.

This event repeated several times, whenever Yugi had problems or was feeling down he would go to the forest and the black dragon would find Yugi and console him.

Yugi named the dragon ‘Yami’ because it always appeared at 'dark’ moments of his life; also he had had no more accidents with raging dragons so that was a plus.

Yugi wouldn’t have noticed this last fact if his cousin, Anzu, hadn’t mentioned it.

“Good job baby boy!” Anzu had greeted him by hitting him on the shoulder blade.

Yugi hated that nickname but Anzu just wouldn’t stop calling him that.

“What are you talking about?” Yugi chuckled nervously.

“You haven’t destroyed the village by bringing a dragon in a month” she laughed.

“Really? I didn’t’ notice at all”

“Really? Well anyway, keep your good work baby boy” she said before running away with an axe in hand.

Yugi had told Ryo about all his encounters with his (probably) dragon friend, but he still hadn’t told his grandpa firstly because his grandpa had went overseas to visit a friend and secondly because he wasn’t brave enough.

Almost half a year had passed since Yugi and Yami met for the first time, Yami had starting to appear more often, more like whenever Yugi went alone into the forest, now Yugi could even call it.

Yugi whistled as loud as he could and Yami arrived in no time.

“Hello friend” Yugi caressed the beasts face “How are you?” in response the creature licked Yugi’s face and the boy laughed “You know? I was thinking” Yami growled playfully “Hey” he pushed halfheartedly Yami’s face away from him “Anyway, as I was saying, I was thinking; you as a dragon have the ability to fly” Yami made a sound of acknowledgment “and you are big and strong enough to carry me” Yami made a noise as if saying 'So?’

“So I said 'hey maybe I can ask my best dragon pal to give me a ride?’ so what do you say?” as an answer the only thing Yami did was lay down on the side.

Yugi threw himself on Yami’s belly.

“Oh come on” the dragon ignored him “Please, I want to fly too” the dragon didn’t even turned to him “Pretty please”

Finally, Yami turned and stood up but kept his head down so Yugi could get on him.

“Yes! Thank you!” as soon as Yugi had settled himself on Yami’s neck the dragon rose “Oh my gods” Yugi gasped when he looked down and regretted it, they were so high! “Oh my gods” he repeated hugging Yami’s neck for dear life.

Yami growled at the pressure.

“Sorry” then Yugi noticed it, the astonishing view “Wow” he said breathless.

He felt the wind against his body, he laughed and stretched out his arms, he lost his balance and almost fell.

“Careful little one!” someone yelled and a shadow covered Yugi and Yami “Don’t you think it’s a bad idea to ride a dragon without a saddle?”

Yugi looked up, his eyes widened and his mouth hung open in shock as he saw a handsome tanned boy with crimson eyes riding a Azure eyes silver dragon (a kind of dragon that was supposed to be extinct) upside down right above him, smiling at him.

The tanned boy laughed.

“I take from your expression that you had never seen an Azure dragon before, right?” Yugi could only shake his head “Well then, this is Puzzle, who’s your friend there?”

Yami shook slightly his head to get Yugi out of the boy’s spell.

“Oh, this is Yami” the black dragon shook his head again “a-and I’m Yugi”

“My name is Atem, nice to meet you” Atem changed from flying on top of him to flying at his side “You look around 11 and 14 so I suppose this is your first flight” Yugi gasped.

“Excuse me? I’ll have you know I’m 16” said Yugi angry, this didn’t seem to bother Atem at all.

“Really? We are the same age!” he said happy.

“You don’t say, you look around 60 or 65” Yugi tried to put as much poison as he could in those words, tho, it wasn’t much since Yugi has no poison, I mean, he’s too tiny to contain evil! “Good bye”

Yami descended, leaving behind Atem and Puzzle.

Yugi huffed a bit angered by Atem’s comment, Yami laughed.

“What?” Yami mocked his human friend “hey!” Yami laughed again “What’s so funny?” the dragon looked up to the dragon rider flying away “You find his rude comment fun?” said Yugi trying to act insulted, the Gandora made eyes to his human friend “What are you trying to say?”

“I insist you should get a saddle!” yelled Atem as he flew over them and disappeared in the distance.

Yami laughed.

“Oh stop it!”

REVELATION

"What's wrong with him now?" Snotlout asked, eyebrows raised in astonishment as he looked down at the scraggly figure of his cousin lying still in his bed. Even though he didn't care much for Hiccup, the thought of such a lively boy now so silent was unnerving. "He was fine a few days ago."

Stoick resumed his concerned expression. "Gothi doesn't know. He doesn't have Eel Pox or pneumonia, or even a cold—"

"He hasn't been stabbed, kidnapped, or working himself too hard lately, either," added in Fishlegs.

Astrid rubbed the back of her neck, just as worried as the others. "No recent dragons in need, maybe? You know how he always is with adventure."

Toothless rumbled in grief, setting his head down on Hiccup's bedside, eyes full of longing.

"Maybe he ate something bad?" Tuff suggested, his face scrunching up in a deep thinking process. "One time that happened to me, and, oh, believe me guys, it did not end well."

"I would know," Ruffnut cut in hastily from his side. "I had to deal with it for days."

"No." Stoick breathed out in distress as he sat in the chair by his son's bed. "He just... didn't get up yesterday."

All six pairs of eyes watched hopefully as Hiccup moved slightly in bed, his head shifting to the side, but he still didn't wake. Toothless looked even more defeated than before, if that was possible. "May I sit with him a bit, sir?" Astrid asked Stoick, almost pleadingly. "You look like you could use a break."

"Yeah, Chief." Fishlegs took Stoick's arm and coaxed him out of the chair, much like a mother hen would to her chicks. "Let's at least go get something to eat."

"Yes! Food!" Tuffnut cheered, and Ruffnut nodded eagerly.

Stoick rose, and Astrid was quick to slide into the chair before the Chief could have second thoughts. "I'll call you if there's any change," she promised him. "And don't worry- after all, it's Hiccup. He's always all right."

Stoick nodded wordlessly and allowed Fishlegs, Snotlout, and the twins to usher him from the room, and to the stairs. Toothless reluctantly followed the bunch after a quick nudge at Hiccup's foot.

Astrid slid forward in her seat once they were all gone, and brushed a few brown locks of hair from Hiccup's forehead. "What happened to you, Hiccup?" she asked softly. Her rough fingers trailed down his cheek, searching for any traces of fever. But his smooth skin was cool, though- almost too cool. She took Hiccup's limp hand between his own, and found it ice cold. She frowned. "Let's see if we can't get you warmed up a bit."

She rose and unfolded the extra quilt from the foot of the bed, then pulled it to Hiccup's chin. She tenderly tucked first one, then the other of Hiccup's arms under the heavy covers, but jerked in surprise when she felt a sudden grip on her wrist. Her breath caught in her throat, but she didn't allow her hopes to soar too high in fear they would be crushed again. "Hiccup?"

Hiccup struggled to lift his eyelids, and Astrid could see he was having trouble focusing on the world around him. "Hey, dragon boy, it's time to wake up," she urged.

"Astrid?" The voice was barely a whisper.

She took a stronger hold on his hand, now feeling protective. "I'm here."

"Where . . ." Hiccup swallowed and tried again. "Where are they?"

"Stoick, Fishlegs, Snotlout, and the twins are downstairs. I'll go get them-"

"No." His head tossed restlessly on the pillow. "Not Dad . . . or the others. Them." His tone grew more urgent. "Where are they?"

"Where's who?" Astrid asked more forcefully, trying to get through to Hiccup's foggy mind. "Who, Hiccup? Who are you looking for? Tell me, and I'll go get them. Whatever you need, I'll do it for you, but you have to tell me, okay?"

Hiccup smiled faintly, his eyelids fluttering. "Knew I could count on you . . . you'd understand. Dad and the rest of the team try, but . . . it just doesn't happen as much for them. Please, Astrid… you have to help me. I'm not sure of how much more of this I can take."

Astrid felt tears prick at her eyes and blinked them back furiously. "Whatever you need, dragon boy," she choked out.

Hiccup took a stronger hold on her hand, and his voice gained strength as he fought to tell Astrid what he needed. "Find them for me, Astrid. They've all disappeared- I don't know why they've left us. Haven't you noticed? No new adventures, no new dragons, no new islands. Just training exercises, endless pranks of the twins, Viggo's useless attacks against Berk and the Edge- and nothing except that ever happens." His voice began to climb and he tried to sit up in bed, energy fueled by sudden determination.

"Hiccup, lie back down," Astrid pleaded as she pushed gently on Hiccup's shoulders. "Come on, please, work with me. You're sick."

"They've deserted us, Astrid," Hiccup managed out, falling back in bed. "You have to find them and make them come back. Please."

Sudden understanding lit Astrid's blue eyes, and she nodded. "All right, Hiccup. I… I think I know what to do now. Just settle down now and rest, and I'll take care of everything, don't worry. It'll all go back to normal soon."

Hiccup searched her face uncertainly, as if wondering if he should believe her.

She stroked the unruly pieces of hair from Hiccup's forehead again as she spoke soothingly. "Don't worry, I'll find them for you. Fearless Astrid Hofferson will take care of it, dragon boy, and you won't have to be troubled by this any more. Just sleep… rest."

Hiccup gradually relaxed and sank back into the pillows. His eyelids drooped, but he managed to ask her one last time, "You'll find them?"

"I'll find them."

"You'll make them come back?"

"I promise. I've missed them, too, you know."

Hiccup opened his eyes again, and a slight grin tugged at his mouth. "So, nothing happened in dragon training today?"

Astrid shook her head, smiling. "Nothing at all. Boring as one of Mildew's useless rants, actually."

Strangely, that seemed to reassure Hiccup more than anything Astrid had said. "All right. You find them, Astrid. You talk them into coming back."

"I will, dragon boy. I will."

She sat there a little longer, making her plans as she waited to be sure that Hiccup fell asleep again. When she was certain her friend was resting peacefully once more, she rose and silently left the room. She wore a thoughtful frown as she descended the small staircase, and only raised an eyebrow at the sight of Hiccup's father and the rest of the gang sitting in the kitchen, enjoying a warm stew, with an anxious Toothless at their side. She didn't join them, to their evident surprise, but headed for front door instead, grabbing her axe.

"Astrid?" Stoick set his bowl of stew down with a clink, rose and walked over to the young woman's side. "You're leaving?"

Astrid nodded as she tightened her hold on the weapon.

"But why?" Fishlegs pressed, shocked. "You going to desert Hiccup when he's sick?"

"I'm going to fix what made him sick," Astrid said with a determined grimace. She tested her axe's flexibility, and then smiled, satisfied with its strength.

Hope lit up Stoick's face. "You know what's wrong with him?" he asked hopefully, eyes shining. "You can make him better?"

"Yeah," she said, and when she looked up, they could see the rock-solid determination of a young woman who would protect her friend, no matter the cost. "I'm going to go find them and make them pay attention, make them fix it so this never happens again. I'm sorry, Chief, but you two don't know what it's like. Hiccup just can't take it, not like I can. I can last a while without them, but Hiccup… his heart pulls too hard for adventure. He needs action, new dragons, new things." She gazed at the top of the stairs for a moment, before returning her attention to the Berkian Chief. "I'll be back as soon as I can, sir. Make him hold on while I'm gone."

"But . . . but where are you going?" Stoick spluttered, still very confused.

Astrid paused with her hand on the door latch. "I'll go wherever they are, do whatever it takes to get them back. And when I do find them, they're going to either listen to me or be sorry."

"Get who back?" Snotlout asked, just as bewildered as the others.

"The writers. I don't know where they all went this summer, but they're going to learn they can't ignore us anymore." And she slammed out the door, a woman with a mission.

Tuffnut breathed out a sigh of relief, slumping back into his dining chair. "She will, too, I bet. When Astrid gets that look in her eye..."

"That very same look when we mess up big time," Ruffnut added in thoughtfully. "Well… I sure feel sorry for those writers now." Toothless warbled in agreement.

A weight lifted from Stoick's shoulders, and he managed a smile. "Yes, we can leave it in her hands. I trust her with this." He nodded at the other teams, gesturing to the stairs. "Now, let's go see Hiccup. After all, we've all got a big day ahead of us tomorrow, now don't we?"

The group chimed in with agreement, and started up the stairs to tell their friend the good news.

Only one half of the number was visible though, making the boy seem even smaller still. But after yesterday’s experience, she wouldn’t judge a boy by its size again. Even small things could bring great fun.

“All right, our lunch boxes are ready,” came Hiccup’s voice from the kitchen. “Are you sure you want to open this box now? Whatever is in it, we won’t be able to test it now.”

He was right. Of course, he was. But still…

“Yes, we’re opening it now. Keeps the anticipation high for later.”

Hiccup sighed, but when he came to join her, she saw how his lips twitched. He was just as curious as she was.

“Okay, then let’s see what awaits us today.”

Not needing another invitation, she opened the box and dumped its content into her palm. And grinned. Ooooooh, these were perfect!

“Uh-oh… What is it, Astrid?” Hiccup sounded alarmed at her reaction, and rightfully so. This would make the perfect payback for last night.
