In July, my Uncle Brad passed away and left me a quarter of his Store as inheritance. Since then, most of my free time and weekends have gone into cleaning and reorganizing, because Brad was a bit of a…collector, let’s just say.

Art college story time:

Mentor: “alright, you’re doing a comic for your thesis project? Tell me about it.”

Me: “well, to sum it up, it’s basically a star crossed lovers story, but it’s a fantasy-medieval setting with one kingdom being of light and the other of darkness. The people are made of light and dark too. I really want to lean into the aesthetics of the art, but I’m having a hard time with people thinking it’s about race. It’s not. It’s a stylistic choice.”

Mentor: “okay! Sounds cool! I know the perfect movie to give you some ideas!”
