Dial Drunk

Fic O'Ween Day 1, for the prompt 'First Frost'! Many thanks to @noots-fic-fests for organizing and @lumosinlove for the best characters <3 Have some baby Sirius and James causing Dumo heart failure for your Thursday!
TW drunkenness (silly fun, not angsty)
Pascal enjoyed 20 minutes of a PG-13 movie (the first in three months) before stumbling, out-of-sync footsteps outside his house interrupted his peace. He should have known better than to think a quiet night in would live up to its name.
“Come on, man, work with me—”
“Shh.”
The kids were in bed. Why couldn’t that be enough?
“No, no, why can’t we just go back to your house?”
“Because—”
They had been gems this evening. Dinner passed without a fuss; a FaceTime with their mother riveted them more than a TV show, for once.
“James…”
“Don’t whine at me, god. Can I have my arm back?”
Pascal cursed softly to himself as he rummaged the remote from the couch cushions and paused the movie. Rustling became a scuffle—he opened the door just as the bell rang through the house.
James Potter stared at him, then broke into a broad grin. “Dumo! Hi!”
“Did you read the sign?”
James’ eyes flickered over the doorframe. Pascal got to watch him read the Please Do Not Ring Bell—Infant Inside! in real time. His smile slipped into more of a grimace. “…shit. My bad.”
“Bonjour,” Sirius mumbled blearily, listing into James’ side. “Ça va?”
Pascal sighed. He had been hoping someone on the team would keep an eye on those two. Parties were all well and good until the dynamic duo of poor decision-making was left to their own devices.
“We had fun,” James offered by way of explanation. Sirius’ hiccup jostled them both. “Maybe—maybe a little too much fun.”
“Got kissed on the cheek,” Sirius said with an enthusiastic nod.
The lipstick print on his face was glittery in the porchlight. “Congratulations.”
“Merci.”
Christ above. “Pots.”
James had the decency to look embarrassed. “I know.”
“Are you serious?”
“Non, c’est moi,” Sirius snorted, swaying toward the potted plant at the edge of the stairs. They both reached for him at once; Sirius made a noise of surprise, but was pliable as putty when James coaxed him back out of the danger zone. The sharp tang of alcohol and at least three different perfumes spilled off him in waves. Sirius was doe-eyed when he bent to rest his head on James’ shoulder. “Thanks for bringing me home.”
Pascal arched a brow; James gave Sirius a guilty pat on the back. “Any time, buddy.”
“Are you sure we can’t go back to your house instead?”
“Mhmm.”
Sirius huffed in disappointment. “Why?”
“Because my guest room isn’t unpacked.”
“Can sleep on the couch. Or the floor.”
“Lily’s coming over tomorrow morning.”
Sirius’ groan cracked as he pushed his face into James’ shoulder. “Just put me in the backyard.”
“One of us will turn the hose on you.”
Pascal shook his head and reached out. “Allez, mon fils, let’s get you—"
“You’re so mean,” Sirius complained, still fixated on James. “I don’t want to go home. Dumo’s going to be upset.”
James’ gaze darted to him for a beat. “Pads, no, it’ll be fine.”
“Non.”
Pascal’s stomach sank. “I’m not upset,” he tried, gentling his voice.
But Sirius just nodded. “Yes, he is.”
“Hey.” Pascal prodded his arm. “Hey, petit chou.”
“Don’t like cabbage. Crunchy.”
Pascal exchanged a look with James and fought an eye roll. Without initial surprise clouding his vision, James was clearly only more sober by a slim margin. His glasses seemed determined to balance on the very end of his nose, despite repeated attempts to push them up again. His sneakers shuffled sheepishly on the doormat.
“Just tell me you didn’t drive.”
“I don’t have a car,” Sirius said brightly.
James gave a vigorous shake of his head. “Fuck no, we took an Uber. Are you crazy?”
“Are you drunk?” Pascal countered. Sirius barked a laugh; James’ already-flushed cheeks darkened. A once-over revealed little he didn’t already know, only a comfort in the sense that they both seemed hale and whole regardless of their wobbling.
Oh, to be twenty again.
Pascal inclined his head toward the house and stood aside. “In. Don’t wake the kids.”
An attempt to fit through the door at the same time was admirable, but doomed, as they soon realized after a few seconds of fumbling. James eventually squeezed past with Sirius trotting close behind. Something about it struck Pascal as a particular poetic irony.
“Where’d you end up?”
“Place on sixth.” James’ hands were clumsy on his shoelaces. Sirius observed him for a moment, then kicked his own shoes into the closet still tied.
“Was it fun?”
“Mhmm. Hopping tonight.”
“We left early,” Sirius chimed in. “James said I needed to go home.”
“He’s smart. You should listen to him more.” Listen to me more, he added in his mind as he guided James’ jacket off his flailing arm and nudged Sirius’ phone away from the precarious table edge. Despite their clumsiness, their clear efforts to stay quiet did not go unnoticed. It was a common courtesy that some of the rowdier boys tended to forget.
“D’you want me to—”
“Guest room,” Pascal interrupted, tilting his chin down the hall. “Bathroom’s yours. Advil in the top drawer.”
James took a breath, then paused. “Does it have one of those kid-lock things?”
“Yes.”
He whistled through his teeth. A reluctant nod followed. “Kay. I can handle that.”
“Lame if you couldn’t,” Sirius mumbled.
“Like you’d do better.”
His lazy grin became offense in half a second; his back stiffened under Pascal’s palm. “I could—”
“Quiet,” Pascal reminded him.
“I could,” Sirius repeated in a harsh whisper, jabbing his finger toward James. “And you know it.”
James raised his hands in mocking surrender before raking one through his hair. His glasses had wandered down his nose again, and he gave Pascal a drowsy blink. “I’ll be out by, like, nine tomorrow. Lily’s coming over at eleven, so…y’know. Gotta clean my kitchen ‘n shit.”
“I’m sure she’ll appreciate that,” was Pascal’s response of choice. He was fairly sure noting the late (or rather, early) hour was a poor course of action if he wanted James Potter asleep in the next five minutes.
James squinted at the floor for a few more seconds. “Fuck, I gotta wash my sheets.”
“Go to bed, James.”
“Yeah. Yeah, alright.”
Pascal propped Sirius up on his shoulder as he watched James go. There was a hole in the heel of his sock that was only going to get bigger. James probably wouldn’t throw the thing out until it literally fell off his foot. Maybe it was a good thing Lily was visiting—she always shook some sense into him.
“Dumo.”
Pacal’s stomach swooped. “Are you going to throw up?”
“No,” Sirius snorted, as if the very idea was ridiculous.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothin’.”
“What do you need?”
“Nothin’.” Sirius wrinkled his nose and stuck his tongue out for a weak raspberry. “English tastes gross. Makes my head hurt. Regulus doesn’t like it, either. Mine is a lot better since because I was here but he’s pratiss—practick—pratique. In school. See? Dumb language.”
“You’re doing a very good job.”
Sirius beamed at him. “Really?”
“Ouais. Much better than I did.”
“Yours is a lot better than mine, though.”
Pacal was glad he didn’t protest the subtle guidance toward the basement stairs, if he noticed at all. “Well,” he began, grunting slightly at the weight imbalance on the first step. “I’ve been in the league for nearly twenty years. You’ll pick it up.”
“I wanna play hockey forever,” Sirius sighed.
“Give it your best, and you’ll do great things.”
Sirius hummed in acknowledgment, though he seemed a little too focused on holding the railing for Pascal to believe it. They edged their way down two more steps before he glanced up again with an astonished look on his face. “You’ve been in the league as long as I’ve been alive?”
Holy Jesus fucking Christ. His tongue went dry and stiff as leather. “I guess I—” Pascal tipped his head toward the ceiling and let a breath siphon through his nose. He should’ve taken James up on the backyard offer. A spray-down with the hose would do Sirius some good. “I hadn’t, ah. Thought about that. Merci.”
“That’s crazy.”
“Isn’t it just?” Perhaps if he asked nicely, Sirius would kick him down the stairs. It would be kinder. He might even hit his head hard enough to forget the entire evening. Where was the shy boy covered in winter’s first frost when Pascal needed him, anyway?
He winced at the thought. As accidentally-devastating as Sirius was with alcohol coursing through his veins instead of common sense, he couldn’t make himself wish for the opposite. They had only just managed to get his shell open; James better than anyone. There really wasn’t a world where he would trade this newfound vibrancy for anything, but—
His lower back panged when Sirius lurched toward his bed. “Woah.”
“Sorry, sorry,” Sirius muttered. “Tired.”
“Je sais.” Pascal shook his head against the glimmers of pain in his vision and made a mental note to ask Remus about that during their next session. “Pajamas, water, then bed.”
“But—”
“Pajamas, water, bed,” he repeated firmly. “Or skip the pajamas. I don’t care.”
Sirius frowned down at himself, scratching at his cheek. Glossy sparkles spread into an amorphous blob. Exasperation pressed against the inside of Pascal’s ribs; he sat Sirius on the edge of his desk and dampened a washcloth in the bathroom, then returned to his side. “Let me see.”
“See what?”
“Your cheek.”
Dark brows knit. “Not hurt.”
“Just—hold on.”
Sirius was flinching back before the cloth even got close. “Hey, hey, non.”
“You’ve got—”
A forceful push to his wrist made him pause. “Non.”
Pascal blinked. “There’s something on your cheek,” he tried. Sirius watched him with strange, alert suspicion. He held both hands palm-up between them and bit the inside of his lip against the urge to reach again. “Here.”
Silver eyes flickered back and forth in the low lamplight, towel to Pascal to towel to Pascal. Sirius shifted on his perch and took the cloth hesitantly. The rigidity of his torso eased once the gloss-print was gone under a few harsh scrubs, and Pascal took it back without issue.
“I’m not upset with you.”
“Hmm?”
“I’m not upset.” He watched Sirius take two large gulps of water from the bottle on his desk before flopping back on the bed. “I’m just glad you two got home safe.”
Sirius made a faint noise of agreement while he made himself comfortable, tugging at the sheets with little regard for their proper direction. A leg and most of his shoulders stuck out when he finally gave up and pushed the side of his face into the pillow. Pascal tucked the blanket around him on instinct; his heart tugged at the long, contented exhale that followed. “James is so nice to me.”
“He’s your friend.”
“So nice,” Sirius mumbled, almost to himself. His eyes were already half-shut. “Dumo?”
“Ouais?”
“Is James going to play hockey with me forever?”
“Ah.” Of all the questions you could ask. “I think you two do well together on the ice, so there’s no reason to split you up.”
Sirius tucked his knees up beneath the covers and shoved an arm under his pillow. “I don’t want to play hockey forever if James isn’t there.”
Pascal sat on the edge of the desk and crossed his arms across his chest. It had been nearly twenty years since he last checked his blindspot on the ice. There was no need—not while Sergei was there. They had talked about the end, of course, and the after. It went unspoken that they’d probably leave together. Too many jokes about PTA duels would be wasted if they didn’t.
How many nights had they dragged each other home, stumbling and giggling? They had walked nearly four miles the night they won the Cup in Colorado, those glorious quiet hours between being shooed home and when the taxis would answer their phones. Pascal couldn’t recall the last time he had fallen over the welcome mat with Sergei on his heels, instead of being the one holding the door open.
“Sirius?”
“Mhmm.”
“James will stay with you.” There was nobody Pascal would rather have at Sirius’ back, when he thought about it. Not even himself. “If you decide you want to play hockey forever, he will be the first person to sign up with you.”
“You’re not—” A yawn interrupted him, wide enough to make him scrunch his face. “—upset that we were loud?”
“Non. Promise.”
“Merci.” The sheets twisted in Sirius’ fist as he brought them close to his body. His mere twenty years made him look small without a frown and a ‘C’.
“Bonne nuit, mon fils.”
An incoherent mumble was all the answer he received, and more than he expected. He turned the lamp off with a gentle click, leaving Sirius to sink into heavy, even breaths.

Hi! So I have been writing for a little over a year (mostly drafts although I do have one story on wattpad which we do not speak of) and I've been a little lost recently. I hope that by writing oneshots, headcannons, drabbles etc. I might get inspired again to continue writing whole books.
So, I hope someone or some people might send me requests after I've posted this:))
I will be comfortable writing for:
Jasper Hale (twilight)
Rosalie Hale (twilight)
Emmett Cullen (twilight)
Legolas (Lord of the Rings)
Aragorn (Lord of the Rings)
Remus Lupin (Harry Potter, Maraunders era)
Sirius Black (Harry Potter, Maraunders era)
George Weasley (Harry Potter)
Steve Harrington (Stranger Things)
Tim Bradford (the Rookie)
Finnick Odair (The Hunger Games)
Soldier Boy(Ben) (The Boys)
Harry Hook (Descendants
Jon Snow (Game of Thrones)
I might add or remove characters from this list as I go on, but this is it for now.
I am only comfortable writing x fem!reader or x gn!reader for most of these characters are male and I don't feel like I have enough experience with gay relationships between two men to write it correctly and I really don't wanna offend anyone with this! Besides that, you are free to request just about anything except for:
-rasicm, homophobia, sexism or discrimination
-anything harmful
-incest
-smut (at least not yet I feel I have to become a little more familiar with it first)
Please request things! I'm very eager to start writing and hope people will enjoy it when I do!!:))
I hope this picture of a cockroach makes you feel joy

hi there love! i hope you're doing well 🤍 if it's okay w/ u, i'd like to request a regulus fic (are we surprised? no-) with an animagus! reader. maybe reggie and reader got into a fight about something and reader's still holding a grudge. they refuse to change out of their cat (or any animal u choose!) form and regulus is trying everything to get them to change back. ending in fluff probably :D
~🍓
i'm quite alright darling, hope the same goes for you<3 this little drabble is written with the same cat!animagus!reader i've written for reggie so far in mind (whiskers, my love) since she's known to be petty...
Words: 1.3k
Warnings: fem!reader, minor fight (lighthearted), embarrassment, you're petty, regulus grovels, black brothers have poor people skills, make-up, background wolfstar and (judgemental) bsf!remus

"How long has she been like this?"
Sirius was eyeing Regulus funnily, seemingly drawn between wanting to laugh at him and wondering if maybe he should comfort him. Remus felt none of the latter sentiments and all of the former.
"Since our last class on Friday," Regulus replied miserably from where his face was buried in his hands, resting atop his knees. "She shifted immediately after."
"So... for over 24 hours," Sirius surmised.
That was apparently the wrong thing to say, based on how Regulus lifted his head from where he was practically bent in half, just to glare at his older brother. "Thanks for doing the maths, Sirius. Not the problem I needed solving, though." Throughout his sentence, his eyes increasingly narrowed at his brother as if his irritation grew with every word.
"No, your problem," Remus volleyed. "Is whatever the hell you've done."
Regulus groaned and buried his face once more.
Across the common room from the trio, a white and grey cat was pettily walking back and forth along whatever furniture it could reach. Its tail was standing up straight, whipping about in annoyance.
Remus poked Regulus in the ribs to get a response. "What'd you do, Baby Black?"
"I may or may not have corrected her in Potions in front of Slughorn, even though she may have been working on gaining his respect all term," Regulus murmured.
The chuckle that escaped Remus was finally one of understanding. "Ah," he said through a smile. "I believe that is what we in the business call a rookie mistake."
Regulus sat up with a jerk, hands moving emotively as he made his case to his brother and brother-in-law, where they were sat on top of each other in a plush chair. "But I've apologised! Profusely, and several times! I don't know what else to do?" The last sentence was voiced as a question, though it was not formulated as one. Perhaps the closest the younger Black brother could get to asking for help.
"Maybe you should give Slughorn a speech about how great she is."
Regulus quirked up at that, eyes zeroing in on Sirius. "You really think that would work?" Remus could have burst out laughing at the lack of sarcasm in the younger boy's voice.
"No," Remus said softly, while chidingly patting Sirius' knee. "Don't listen to him, you lot have the same amount of people skills. Do you know your girlfriend, Regulus?"
"Yes?" Regulus' voice was uncertain, looking between the boys with furrowed brows.
"What usually motivates her to hold a grudge?" Remus prompted then, ever patient.
He was quiet for a minute as he thought. "When she feels wronged. Like when Evan apologised for her 'interpretaion' of what he said instead of for him hurting her feelings, and she disliked him for three years."
Remus nodded solemnly. "And is there a reason she might still feel wronged by you now?"
Regulus' gaze finally fixated on the cat across the room, nodding too as the puzzle pieces slowly assembled in his mind. "I apologised for correcting her... but not embarrassing her. She probably feels like I was lording over her or something."
"Meaning..?" Gods, Remus was really laying it on thick here. The curse of the Black family.
"I should go tell her as much." Regulus nodded and moved to hurry over towards you, swinging around at the last minute to give the two boys an almost-smile. "Uh, thanks Sirius. Remus."
Then he was off.
Sirius turned his face into Remus' cheek. "No idea what he's thanking me for; you did all the talking."
Remus sighed, melting further into his boyfriend. "That's what I've been saying."
Regulus tenderly approached you, sitting down somewhat gingerly in a chair beside the table you were currently parading around. "Hi, amour," he said softly. "Can we talk?"
You just wagged your tail in response, in a fashion Regulus has come to learn means displeasure.
"Please love, I want to give you a proper apology. It would be best to do so face-to-face, no?" He reached his hand out towards you, an open invitation. You stopped for a moment to regard him, but then lightly slapped at his hand to get it out of your face. Regulus decided to take it as a victory that your claws were retracted at the very least – you weren't out for blood.
“Okay,” he said through a breath. “I guess I’ll just… talk to a kitten and look crazy.” Upon your quiet hiss, he amended, “Talk to a cat, sorry. Gods, I’m sputtering today, aren’t I?” That final part you seemed to agree upon at least.
“Amour, I am truly deeply sorry for embarrassing you like that. It was such a little thing, and Slughorn has been so unfair towards you this year. I didn't mean to set you back in your progression with him, though frankly, he is in the wrong there, not you. As am I. For someone who feels like he can go around correcting people, that was quite air-headed of me, yeah? The one person keeping me grounded is you, amour, please would you come back to me? You can give me a proper scolding if you’d like, I can take it.”
Regulus was pouring his heart out, and if he dared to hope, he thought your feline face might have softened. You walked closer to him, seemingly studying his face.
Then, you jumped off the table and ran away.
He sighed heavily, letting his forehead fall down to the table with a light thump. If you were going to keep giving him the furred shoulder, he might just stay here. It was hard work being a tosser who’s missing his girlfriend.
Before he could wallow further in his sorrows, he felt a soft hand be placed on his shoulder. A touch he would recognise anywhere.
His head flew up from the table to look up at you – standing above him, smiling softly and somewhat sheepishly. The hand on his shoulder grew bolder, squeezing, while the other came up to cup the side of his face. Regulus ignored any instinct to cower away and instead happily melted into your touch.
“Hi, baby,” you whispered, and he knew he was mostly forgiven.
Emboldened by this new development, he turned in his seat so that his body faced you, slotting you in between his thighs and letting his hands come to rest heavily at the top of your hip. “Hi amour,” he breathed out, reverent. “Thank you.”
“For what?” you laughed, and he knew you knew what. He indulged you anyway.
“Coming back to me.” His voice was murmured, eyes hooded as he stared up at you. “I miss you when you remain as Whiskers, you know?”
“I do know,” you teased. “That’s kind of the whole point, yeah? Make you think.”
He shook his head and leaned his forehead tentatively against your stomach. “A cruel punishment, but an understandable one. I truly am sorry, I didn’t mean to.”
Regulus sighed when your hand migrated to scratch through his hair. “I know, baby. I just wanted to hear you say it. And–” at this point he could hear the blush in your voice “– at some point it just became principle. Too late to back out.”
Laughing against the fabric of your shirt, he moved to rest his chin against you, gazing up at you at an angle that was slightly uncomfortable but definitely worth it. He let a small grin slip. “Stubborn minx,” he whispered.
“Oi!” you chided gently. “You’re in no position to levy such accusations, mister.”
“I can’t imagine loving you more,” he said through a sigh, not even thinking over the words. They were just right, and demanded to be brought up.
If the way your body melted against his was anything to go by, you didn’t mind.
A booming voice cut the moment short. “You two are painfully dramatic,” Sirius yelled from across the room, clearly having paid attention to the whole make-up conversation. “Please never fight again.”
“And that’s coming from Sirius Black,” Remus added solemnly, earning himself an indignant swat from his partner.
“He’s right,” Regulus whispered conspiratorially to you. “I cannot be the most dramatic Black brother, that would be blasphemy.”
“Then I suggest,” you said before giving him a light peck, “you be on your best behaviour from now on.
A grin. “Yes ma’am.”

“Hold on, hold—What did you say?”
Sirius stepped out onto the moonlit porch of the cottage and put a finger over his free ear—as if it was his fault he could barely hear the words his little brother was saying. Regulus’ call had come half-way through washing up after dinner, Julian begging for a nighttime game of pick-up, and Hope laughing at Remus for eating the last of the apple pie straight from the dish. He’d assumed he was calling about travel plans, but he hadn’t expected the thumping music in the background or cacophony of laughing voices.
“I said I’m driving up day after tomorrow,” Regulus shouted, then laughed at something and said hello to someone, telling them to make themselves at home.
Sirius briefly wondered where he’d picked up the phrase and learned to use it so easily. It wasn’t like they’d heard it much. Make yourself at home. Instantly, Sirius thought of that basement bedroom at Pascal’s, and their warm kitchen—the kids doing homework, Celeste and Pascal cooking. Sirius, you don’t have to ask for water or anything else. Please, help yourself.
“I know that,” Sirius shouted back to Regulus, even though he probably didn’t have to. “You—ouais, you already told me that?”
“Oh. I did? Okay!”
“Ouais, I—” Sirius turned as Remus’ face appeared through the screen door, a questioning look on his face.
“You good?” Remus asked. “You’re yelling?”
Sirius pulled the phone away a bit. “I think my brother is drunk calling me.” He pressed the speaker back to his cheek. “Are you okay?”
Remus, obviously trying not to laugh, retreated back into the house.
“I just wanted to call,” Regulus shouted in his ear. “I just wanted to say, see you soon. Just wanted to say I’m glad this is—”
There was a long pull of silence, during which Sirius couldn’t tell if Regulus was talking to someone else, had dropped his phone perhaps, or was just thinking.
“I’m glad…” He began finally. “I mean, I’m glad these things happened.”
He didn’t sound drunk, Sirius supposed. He just sounded…unsure.
“What things?” Sirius asked.
“Everything.”
“What?”
“I just wanted to call you! And hear your voice, Sirius, fuck.”
“Why? Are you okay?”
More cursing, a blend of French and English. “Yes. Nothing has to be wrong for me to want to talk to you.”
“I…Ouais, okay.”
It seemed like he had moved somewhere quieter, but only by a bit. There was still music, low and filled with quick-lyrics, and Sirius caught passing parts of English conversations. Sirius picked out one voice, a girl, who said Regulus’ name and find me later.
“Who is that?” Sirius asked, then felt stupid.
Regulus didn’t hear him, busy telling the girl something before the speaker rustled, back against his ear.
“So. Finn and Alex go running every day,” Regulus shouted over the music. “I mean, when they can. When they’re in the same city.”
Sirius hadn’t known that, but, then again, Regulus probably spent more time with the Cubs. He should stop thinking of them as the Cubs. That had been Finn and Logan during their rookie seasons, and then Leo, but they didn’t really deserve that anymore. Especially not with a Cup.
“I—That’s nice.” Sirius looked towards the lake. The waves were soft tonight. All the boats had long gone home. Did he want to go running together? “I thought you were sort of done with…”
“No, I don’t want to run, I just…”
For the next few seconds, and Sirius pulled his phone back to watch some of the time go by on the screen, there was more silence. This was their way. He wished it wasn’t, he wished he had the right words to fill every part of his brother’s mind until he could cancel out all the wrong ones. But half-finished sentences it was. Half-thoughts that somehow found completion once they both stuttered and tried a few dozen times.
“I’m just saying,” Regulus said. “I’m just saying that when I get there, I’m your brother not your house guest.”
Sirius looked back towards the screen door at that, hoping Remus would be there. House guest? What did that mean?
“Did that sound bad?” Regulus said loudly.
“Non,” Sirius said. “I—non. I don’t—okay.” He was sort of panicking. Dumo would have known what to say. “I’m—sorry.”
“Non. C’est—Non. I’m saying it all wrong.”
Finn and Alex run. House guest.
“I…” Sirius cleared his throat. “Reg, I can barely hear you. I don’t know…I don’t know what else… I didn’t mean to make you feel like we’re…”
Not as good as other brothers.
“I just mean.” Over everything, he did hear the breath Regulus let out. Someone else said his name through a laugh and a hello. “Hi, yeah, come on in.”
Sirius waited, unsure how to have this conversation with music and other people right there.
“I should probably go,” Regulus said. “Sorry, I know you’re with everyone. And I know I’m—it’s loud, sorry. I don’t know.”
“I’m not with everyone,” Sirius said.
“Ha, right.”
Something definitely took a tumble in the background. The music soared up, louder, and Regulus cursed.
“Shit,” he said. “Sorry! Someone—Sirius?”
“I’m here,” Sirius said. “I’m right here.”
“I should…” The next words, shouted like they were talking to each other over a windstorm, still hit Sirius somewhere soft and gentle. “Hey, I get to stand next to you, right? On the day? Your day.”
Sirius pressed a hand over his chest and found the lake blurring through what must be a few tears. That. That had surprised him. It probably shouldn’t have.
“Please,” Sirius said, then laughed a little when Regulus did. “Yeah, you’ll stand next to me.”
“Good. Okay, good.” Someone else said Regulus’ name.
Sirius realized he still thought of him as his quiet brother, half pressed against the sides of rooms so nothing could surprise him.
He felt only pure relief in realizing that wasn’t true anymore.
“I love you,” Regulus said suddenly, a gasp of breath almost. “So. Yeah, I do. And I’ll see you soon.”
“I—see you soon,” Sirius said, staring, unseeing, at the lake. “I love you, too, Reg.”
He sort of forgot to go back inside. He didn’t know how long he’d been sitting on the top porch step until a blanket appeared around his shoulders and Remus sat down close enough to press their hips and shoulders together.
“Is he okay?” Remus asked. “You’ve been out here for a while, I couldn’t tell if you were still on the phone.”
“Sorry,” Sirius said. “I didn’t help with dishes.”
“More than enough hands for that.” Remus turned Sirius’ hand over and traced a line of his palm with his thumb. “Everyone’s gone up to bed.”
“He just said he…” Sirius cleared his throat. “He just wanted to call me.”
Remus nodded. “Okay…Is he all good?”
Sirius nodded. “Yeah, he—he said Finn and Alex go running together when they’re in the same city. And that when he gets here, I should treat him like a brother? Not like a house guest?”
Remus laughed, just a little. “Well, okay, then. Blunt, as usual.”
“I have no idea what any of it meant.” Sirius rubbed a hand through his hair. “I don’t think he was actually drunk? I mean, I don’t know.”
“Sounds like he wants to spend time with you.”
Sirius shook his head, bewildered. “Sounds like he wishes we were Finn and Alex. Merde, or you and Jules. I don’t…”
“No,” Remus said, hand hooking over Sirius’ shoulder. He rested his chin there, too.
“Yes.” Sirius sighed. “I don’t know. He was so… He has all of these friends, and then he said he loved me, and asked if he gets to stand next to me. I thought—I mean, of course?”
“Did you tell him that?”
“Yes.”
“No, I mean before.”
“Well—Before when?”
Remus squeezed his arm. “He might have thought you’d choose James. Or Pascal. Julian said he thought I was going to choose Thomas when I told him he’d be next to me.” Sirius felt Remus’ quiet laugh against his neck. “Then he googled weddings and got all freaked out I was going to make him give a speech.”
Sirius smiled. “Oh God, Reg is not going to give a speech, there’s no way.”
“That’s fine,” Remus said. “We have a lot of people who are going to want to say something. I went with my dad and sorted out the whole music, sound-system situation today. I don’t know if we’re going to be able to stop potential karaoke.”
“Oh God. James.”
“Yeah.”
“Finn.”
“What, you’re not going to sing me a song, Black?”
“There’s a lot of things I’ll do for you…That’s maybe not one.”
“Well, damn.”
“Unless you…like, really want me to.”
“I would never torture you like that.”
Sirius pressed his smile into Remus’ cheek, enjoying the way Remus leaned further against him. Something made the nearby waves pick up, and Sirius closed his eyes, suddenly wanting to be in their room with the windows open, listening to them as they fell asleep.
“We owe your entire family a vacation,” Sirius said. “A long one.”
“For real, though,” Remus laughed. When Sirius put his hand out, Remus laced their fingers together. “Hey.”
Sirius looked down at him. He had more freckles than Sirius had ever seen him with. They dotted across his nose and cheeks. They would be there for their wedding photographs. Something about them made Remus look like he had when Sirius had first met him in his Lions staff jacket. Hi, Sirius? I’m Remus Lupin. Is there anything I can do for you?
Remus hooked a finger in the neck of his shirt, pulling his attention back to right then.
“You’re the one who found a whole new sort of family,” Remus said. “It’s good Regulus is doing that, too.”
“I know.”
“And you’re doing it again. You’re my family and we’re yours. That includes Reg—believe me. If you don’t make him know it, my mom will.”
Sirius smiled. “Hope Lupin versus Regulus Black. That—oh, what’s the thing your dad says?”
“Which thing?”
“Ah…” Sirius squinted upwards, carding a hand through Remus’ hair. “Oh. We love to see it.”
Remus tilted his head back, laughing. “We love to see it. Oh my God. You’re funny that you remember that.”
They leaned their heads together. The waves had quieted. Sirius watched Remus’ thumb make slow tracks over his knuckles and wrist. The woods around them rustled, and a cluster of crickets sang somewhere close by. Sirius still couldn’t believe how many stars he could see here.
“I know we just said how much help we’re getting with wedding things,” Remus said quietly. “And that we owe them a vacation, so we should probably stick around. But…”
“But?” Sirius said, then he couldn’t help himself anymore and leaned in to kiss Remus. He made a soft, happy sound. Sirius pressed his thumb over his engagement ring.
“Do you maybe,” Remus hardly leaned away to speak, “want to drive somewhere tomorrow?”
“Just us,” Sirius said, and kissed him again, then again, in time with the hush of the lake’s shore.
“Just us.”

“No.”
Finn laughed as he reached the end of the pier before Alex, catching himself on the railing. He pulled back, letting himself hold on by his fingertips as he tilted his head up to the sky and let out a whoop.
“I win,” he shouted. “I fucking win.”
“I let you win,” Alex panted. He had his hands on his knees and was trying to blink sweat out of his eyes. “Tell me, who’s in the playoffs right now and needs to conserve their strength? Oh yeah. Me.”
“Fuck off,” Finn said. “I’m not even out of breath.”
“That’s because you’re a freak.”
Finn reached forward and flicked the bill of Alex’s cap up, knocking it to the ground.
Alex swiped at him, making to hit him in the groin, but Finn jumped back, out of reach. Alex scowled as he picked up his hat.
Finn turned back towards the water. The day’s heat was catching on now and he adjusted his own cap, pushing his sweaty hair back.
“No training today, right?” Finn asked.
“Nope.” Alex came to stand beside him. “Day off. Tomorrow, though. Morning’s optional. Do you know if Tremz is going?”
“I’ll ask him.”
They walked in the sun until they could cross back across the road and the smooth pavement of the river paths turned into the West Village’s cobblestones. There was a cluster of dogs outside of their regular coffee shop and Finn saw Alex snap a photograph of a particularly glossy golden retriever and send it off to Kasey.
“Are you bringing breakfast back or are they meeting you?” Alex asked.
“Lo’s probably sleeping still—bringing back.”
Alex nodded. “Do you—like urgently, or—Want to sit for a bit?”
Finn raised his eyebrows. “Yeah, I wanna sit. Are you okay?”
Alex turned his hat backwards as they went inside the shop. “Why?”
“You just started three different sentences.”
Alex kept his eyes on the menu. “I just—What are you poking me for, I want to have coffee with you, I’m being nice.”
Finn put his hands up. “Okay. Be nice, then.”
They ordered and found a table out front, so small they had to sit side-by-side to avoid being in the middle of the sidewalk. It was half in the shade of a tree and in the shadow of a row of Citi Bikes. Finn watched Alex fidget with his straw.
“How’s your shoulder?” Finn asked.
“What? Oh, fine. Just one of those things. Doesn’t bother me enough to bother me.”
Finn nodded. “Yeah. Lo’s got that with one of his calves. Doesn’t bother him on the ice but at home he’s all—you know. Harz, Le, can you get that, my leg.”
Alex laughed. “Let me guess. You get it for him.”
“So what if we do?”
“Shocker.”
Finn laughed, shaking the ice cubes around in his cup. “Whatever.”
They watched two beagles pass by, one coming over to sniff intently at Finn’s shoe. Finn asked if he could pet them, mostly trying to give Alex a moment to say whatever he wasn’t saying. He ran his palm over the dog’s soft ears, smiled at the warm kisses of its tongue against his wrist, and nodded his thanks to the owner who continued on.
“They’re not getting married. Yet.”
Finn watched the dogs go for another moment. Their white-tipped tails swished happily in unison. Twins. Brothers.
Finn turned back in his seat and took a sip of his coffee. Alex was looking at him out of the corner of his eye. He had one of his knees bouncing. When it rattled the table, he stopped.
“Hello?” Alex sighed.
Finn put an arm around him and pulled them together. The bill of Alex’s hat, low on the back of his neck, bumped into Finn’s nose, but Finn just held on tighter.
“Al…” Finn squeezed him hard. “Thank God, fuck.”
“I—yeah.” Alex sighed, slumping into him a little. “Guess you were right. I was worried. And sad.”
“I know,” Finn said. He pulled back. “How is everything now?”
Alex laughed, rubbing at his jaw. “Fuck. So much better. It’s like I was using half my lungs or something.”
“Don’t I know that feeling.”
“Yeah, what is up with us?”
“Mm…I don’t know. Maybe mom knows.”
Alex shook his head like he was still clearing the fog of these last months. He turned his face up towards the sunlight coming through the trees. “Yeah, she probably knows. Anyway…”
Finn raised his eyebrows and Alex shrugged.
“There you have it,” Alex said.
“There you have it? C’mon, how’d it go down?”
Alex groaned. “It went down, that’s all that matters.”
“Alex. What happened to telling each other things?”
“There’s nothing to tell. Natalie and I talked and then Kasey and I talked and—I don’t know, I confessed?”
“Al.”
“And I cried.” Alex slapped his hand to his thigh, laughing a little. “Which was—nice. But embarrassing.” He messed with his straw again, the paper scratching against the plastic lid. “I don’t think I even—really knew how worried I was. I think I assumed they would get tired of me. And I was just going to have to be okay with that.”
“I’ll beat up anyone who thinks they could get tired of you.”
Alex smiled slightly. “I’m glad I was wrong.”
“O’Haras don’t do sometimes. We’re all-day-every-day.”
“Ha, yeah. I guess that’s true.”
“So, you’re spending the summer together?”
“Yeah, gonna go to California, train with one of Kase and I’s old teammates. See Natalie’s family. What are you guys doing after the wedding?”
“France,” Finn said. “New Orleans.”
“Fancy you.”
Finn smiled. “Lo’s hoping for a Cup day in August, obviously, and he wants to bring it to Harvard with Percy and Will.”
“You gonna go?”
Finn nodded. “I want to take Leo all around. I mean…If he wants. I think he’ll like it? But I don’t want it to feel like…”
“‘Here are all the things we did without you?’”
“Yeah, exactly.” Finn stretched his legs out under the table. “I want—I’d mean it like, look, this is special now because you’re here, too. I mean, it was special before with just Lo, but it was also just…”
“Sad,” Alex finished.
“Yeah.” Finn laughed. “Are you going to finish all my—”
“Sentences.”
“Al—”
“—ex, stop,” Alex wined, then laughed loudly when Finn punched his arm.
“Okay, I’m done having coffee with you.”
Alex laughed and stood up. “Yeah, yeah, if you don’t get Tremz his chocolate he’ll bite you.”
“I mean, you’re—”
“—not wrong,” Alex said, then jumped out of Finn’s reach.
“Alex.”
“Okay, okay.” Alex lifted an arm and pulled Finn in. “See you later, yeah?” He pulled back and flicked his forehead. “Love you, Fish.”
Finn squinted one eye closed. “If you say so.”
Finn waited until Alex was halfway down the street, fishing his keys out of his pocket.
“I love you, too!” Finn shouted.
Alex turned to laugh, shaking his head.
Finn shut the front door to Logan’s apartment as quietly as he could. He set the croissant bag down on the counter, along with his keys and wallet, humming as he went. There were signs that Leo had been awake. Some coffee in the glass pour-over container, and his phone on the counter.
“Of course you and Remus are both morning hummers.”
Finn turned sharply towards the living room. “Whoa.”
Regulus’ sharp smile flashed and faded from where he sat on their couch. “Hey there.”
“Hi. Sorry.”
“No, my bad, I should have said something.”
“No. I mean—all good.” Finn took down a plate for the pastries. “Does morning hummer mean what I think it means?”
Regulus raised his eyebrows. “Uh. I don’t know. What does it mean?”
“Well…” Finn glanced in the direction of the bedroom. “Well, what do you think it mea—”
“Let’s just drop it.”
“Yeah, good idea.” Finn took a sip of his coffee. “If I’d known you were coming over, I’d have brought you something.”
“It’s all right,” Regulus said. “Leo said I are getting breakfast before I head up to Remus’ lake house tomorrow.”
“Ah, yes. Wedding. Best man, right?”
“I think James thinks he is, but it’s me.”
“Of course it’s you!” Leo emerged from the direction of the bedrooms, freshly showered, and pressed a kiss to Finn’s cheek. “Morning, Harz. You look so cute. Little tomato.”
“Thanks? I think.” He twisted Leo’s gray streak, still damp, once around his finger. “Sleep okay?”
“Second half of the night, yeah.” Leo let Finn run a hand over his hair, eyes closing happily. “How’s Alex?”
“He’s good. I beat him home, so, ha.” Finn put a thumb over Leo’s bottom lip. “Where’s our pet hockey player?”
Leo laughed, took his hand, and kissed it. “Still snoozing.”
Yes. Finn set the plate down. “Cool. I’m going to…” He glanced at Regulus. “Go say hi to him and then shower.”
“Say hi to him?” Leo repeated with a snort. “Okay, call it what you want, I guess. Reg and I are getting breakfast. Oh, and I think we’re going to his friend’s birthday party tonight—you wanna come?”
“Love to.” Finn looked at Regulus. “Is that okay?”
“Of course it’s okay,” Regulus said, standing. “Logan, too, if he wants.”
“We’ll see if he feels like he’s gotta lie low,” Leo said. He shrugged at Finn who nodded. Then Leo made a happy sound and wrapped his arms around Finn’s shoulders. “Party with you, I like the sound of that.” He pressed a firm kiss to Finn’s mouth and it felt like sparking wires. “I love you, I love you, you’re sweaty, ew, I love you.” He kissed Finn’s cheeks before whispering in his ear. “I know what you’re up to, you better change those sheets.”
“You got it, lover,” Finn whispered back.
“You guys are really bad at whispering,” Regulus said. He was standing by the door now. “Le, I want waffles.”
“I want that special quiche they had that one time, fingers crossed.” Leo grabbed his wallet and keys, then stumbled a bit when Finn reeled him back in, straight into one more kiss.
“I love you,” Finn said. “Have fun.”
“You taste like summer,” Leo smiled. “See you tonight. Let Lo know and we’ll text you the address.”
“Tell Logan congrats on making the finals,” Regulus called, then the apartment door swung shut.
Finn slipped through their open bedroom door, undoing his watch as he went. He smiled at the sight that waited for him. Logan was sprawled across the whole bed, like he was searching for them even as he was asleep. He was on his back, bare save for the tight gray briefs that he favored, and his chin was tilted up with his arms by his head. The sheets were low enough to show his tattoo. Finn’s heart picked up just looking at him. He could feel himself getting turned on. Logan and Leo both liked making love in the morning, and if Finn wasn’t careful, he’d see every sunrise and get endlessly hopeful each time.
Finn sat on the edge of the bed, pushing his sweaty hair off his forehead. Logan didn’t stir. He put a hand on Logan’s hip, thumbing over the dark ink. Nothing. He leaned over and pressed a kiss right to the center of Logan’s chest. That got a deeper breath, one of only just waking up.
Logan peeked an eye open and then, seeing Finn, closed them again and let a slow, sleepy smile spread over his face.
“Hi,” Finn whispered. “Good morning.”
“Mmm…Cur.” Logan kicked back the covers. “Did you run?”
“Yeah, just got back.”
Logan stretched, his back arching. By the sly, tired look in his eye he knew exactly what he looked like. “Do you want to…”
Finn nodded, rubbing a palm high over Logan’s inner thigh. “I really fucking do.”
The sound Logan made next was low in his throat and pleased. “Come here.”
“Leo doesn’t like it when I bring outside sweat into the sheets,” Finn said—just to make him ask again.
“Good thing they’re my sheets,” Logan said.
Finn laughed and reached behind him to yank off his shirt. “That’s true.”
He shed his shorts and socks, too, and Logan tugged him down by the band of his underwear.
“If someone told you I was a morning hummer…” Finn mumbled into his kiss.
Logan threw a leg around Finn’s hip and pushed him onto his back. “Who’s someone?”
“Not Leo.”
Logan settled his weight down over Finn’s clothed cock and rocked slightly. He pressed one more kiss to Finn’s mouth before putting his hands against Finn’s chest and sitting himself upright. “Not sure I like that someone else knows that.”
Finn smoothed his hands over Logan’s strong thighs, so warm from being tucked under the covers. “That’s what I thought. Regulus just said—”
Logan froze. “Like, here?”
“Regulus was in our living room. Emphasis on was. Him and Le are at breakfast now, so…”
Logan sighed happily and rolled his hips again. “Oh.”
Finn hissed a breath through his teeth. “Yeah, baby, carry on. He says congrats on making the final round, by the way. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for a few trips to Colorado. Not too many though.”
“Me too,” Logan said absently, more intent on palming Finn through the cotton material of his briefs, then himself. Finn could have lay there forever. He covered Logan’s hand with his and tucked a thumb into the front slip of his briefs to feel the silk of him.
Logan pushed into his touch, then bent to kiss him before reaching for the bedside table. Logan held the jar they kept there out to Finn and bit his lip around a smile.
“Oh, now he’s bashful,” Finn said, taking it.
Logan let loose his full grin and fell forward, tucking his face into Finn’s neck to bite at the sweat-damp skin. It was a bit of a tangle, ridding themselves of the rest of their clothes, and Finn laughed softly at the way Logan splayed his thighs wide over his lap, grinding their half-hard cocks together.
“You smell,” Logan whispered.
“Well, if I recall what I’ve learned about you over these many years—”
But then Logan was kissing him, licking into his mouth until Finn bit down on his lower lip just to hear his low groan. Logan moved down to kiss the salt from his jaw and neck, firm lips and quick dashes of his tongue and sharp, just on the side of not-too-hard nips from his teeth. Finn wondered what Logan would say if he asked him to just cover him in those biting kisses entirely and take his time about it.
“Did you have sweet dreams?” Finn asked, unscrewing the jar’s top.
“I’m in one,” Logan said, pulling back to watch Finn slick his fingers. “Did you have a good run?”
“Yeah,” Finn said, watching the way Logan’s eyes trained on his hand. “Got a chocolate croissant from that coffee shop by the river.”
Logan’s eyes darted to his, affronted.
Finn reached down and smoothed his hand over Logan’s ass. “Don’t give me that look.” He enjoyed the way Logan’s breathing hitched when he dug his palm into his muscles. “I don’t go near a bakery without leaving with something for my Lo.”
“Finn,” Logan whispered shakily.
“My sweet tooth creature of chocolate and sour candy.”
Logan pressed back against Finn’s slick touch.
“Of course it’s chocolate that turns you on.”
“You turn me on—” Logan cut off as Finn’s fingers found home, brows drawing together. His knees tightened around Finn’s hips. “Ah…”
Finn pressed his smile into Logan’s temple, then turned it into a kiss. They had time, so Finn kept his touches slow. The sun was coming through the window, lighting up dust in the air and throwing a warm slant across Logan’s lower back. Logan lay down against his chest and Finn could feel each one of his steady breaths. He kissed Finn’s skin every once in a while. Finn stroked his free fingers through Logan’s hair. It was almost like he was going to be put back to sleep, save for the needy thrum of his heart Finn could feel if he pressed a palm to his back. His skin still held that solid sort of heat he always had when he was sleeping, the warmth Leo and him always pressed their freezing fingers against in the middle of the night. Most people, Finn guessed as he felt Logan’s cock began to get wet between their stomachs, would shy away from any cold touch in their sleep. A slumbering Logan, however, always seemed to give them more room to warm up.
“Feels good?” Finn murmured. He scratched gentle fingers down the back of Logan’s neck and used the leverage of his other, slightly tweaking wrist to press deeper inside Logan’s body. More oil, a third finger that made Logan press his forehead into Finn’s chest and push back against his hand.
“Yeah,” Logan said. “Mhm, fuck.”
Finn rolled his head against the pillow to catch a good look at Logan’s parted mouth and shut, blissful eyes. His lashes cast those gorgeous shadows.
“You’re so fucking strong right now,” Finn said. “Fucking big, it’s…” Logan’s shoulders, the powerful muscles of his back, made Finn’s cock ache. He pressed hard into Logan, gentle with the pads of his fingers, until the corded muscles in Logan’s back shifted like rippling light and Logan gasped out a sound. “God, Lo, I love it.”
Logan’s laugh was a huffy, embarrassed sound, but his cheeks were pink and proud as he pushed himself to sit up, palms on Finn’s chest. Finn’s hand slipped out of him, but Logan was already reaching for the jar, then taking Finn in his hand, in both hands, to give him slow, smooth strokes.
Finn’s hips were pinned by Logan’s weight and he dug his nails into Logan’s thighs, trapped there with nothing to do but try to breathe through the sight of Logan’s scarred-knuckled hands around his cock. Logan watched, too, then darted his eyes to Finn’s face.
“I love your voice,” Logan said softly. His accent, sated already, dragged his words like a hand through clear water. He pushed himself onto his knees and positioned Finn’s cock, pausing to rub it against himself for a moment. “I love when it sounds like I’ve had you already and we haven’t even started.”
Finn just smiled and ran a hand through the mess Logan had left on his stomach. Then he felt the heat. Logan’s heat. It locked around him and Logan’s head dropped back in one, satisfied motion as he worked himself slowly down.
Finn’s toes curled and he dug his heels into the mattress. “Lo.”
“Mm,” Logan smiled up at the ceiling, eyes closed. He didn’t move. He stayed still, adjusting, before lifting himself so Finn could watch his cock slip nearly all the way out of him. Logan’s mouth fell open slightly, lost in the feeling if sinking down again. Finn, looking up from the mesmerizing sight of where they fit together, had expected his eyes to still be closed. But Logan was watching him.
“Sometimes, I can’t believe it’s you,” Logan whispered. He smoothed his palms up Finn’s chest over his heart. “I’m so—” He cut off as Finn accidentally slipped out of him. The sudden lack of contact ached and Finn hissed as his shaft jolted, seeking Logan and dripping beads of want from its tip.
“Non…” Logan began to say.
“Here, baby,” Finn was there, holding his hips and guiding them together again. “God.”
Finn felt his cock pulse, watched Logan feel it inside by the look on his face, saw the gleaming evidence of being as close to the edge as he was when Logan pushed himself up again. Finn splayed his hands over Logan’s ribs.
“So good,” Logan whispered. “You feel so good…”
Finn bent his knees, planting his feet on the bed to lift up into Logan’s body. It was the moments before the fall when he never felt deep enough, when ever part of him wanted to hear the sound of his skin moving against Logan’s more than anything.
He gripped Logan’s thighs, his fingers pressing indents into the strong muscle, and relished in the weight of Logan’s hands on his chest as he tried to keep his balance even as his breathing uneven. Logan reached behind him, hooking an elbow around Finn’s knee and found his rhythm again, letting himself fall down as Finn pushed up.
“Lo,” Finn grit out. It half-occurred to Finn that he should be doing most of the work, that Logan had other performances to pay attention to, but the blinding heat around him banished those thoughts quickly enough.
When Logan began to come, Finn knew he was only halfway there. He didn’t touch himself. Didn’t move to have Finn touch him.
“Ah—Ah—” Logan was loud. Hoarse, panting sounds fell from him that Finn swore were going to make him come. He reached down and pushed on the root of himself, trying to starve it off. Logan wasn’t done.
Logan leaned forward and fucked himself back on Finn in quicker snaps now as he painted strips of white over Finn’s body. Finn tilted his head back into the pillows, relishing the silky splash that reached up his chest, and the rhythmic squeezing of Logan’s orgasm around his cock.
“Fuck,” Finn said, hand circling Logan’s cock in a tight grip. “Oh, fuck, Lo, keep doing that, keep…”
Logan braced his hands on Finn’s ribs and began to push himself harder, hardly lifting off at all.
“Come here,” Logan whispered. He tangled his hands in Finn’s hair, gripping tightly, and kissed him.
Finn didn’t break the kiss as he went, just let Logan lick up his gasps. He pushed Logan onto his back in the rough, tumbling way he liked and hardly gave him any time for a please little laugh before he was grinding his cock into him, aiming straight for what would get Logan close to the edge of another one.
“Uh—” Logan pressed his teeth around Finn’s jaw, then dragged a half-kiss across his cheek until they were kissing as Finn rocked into him. “Yes, yes, Finn, yes…”
“I know.” Finn’s words sounded shaky to himself as he spread his palms down Logan’s back. He kissed the corner of Logan’s parted lips, the side of his nose, the high of his cheek. He caught a flash of green and Logan was suddenly looking at him again. It was written all over his face, how good he thought Finn felt inside. Finn could feel it in the half-smile they gave each other just before it was too much again and Logan dipped his fingers into Finn’s hair and brought their foreheads together. He felt it in the span of Logan’s hand down his back, then the way he cupped Finn’s jaw just to kiss him again through their mixed, heavy breaths.
Finn pressed his cock deep into him, almost straining for more, and stayed, and stayed, sucking a bruise into Logan’s neck until he felt him seize up around him and come between them again with a gasp. Finn smiled to himself.
“Good,” Finn whispered as he began to move again, chasing after his own now. “I’m gonna…”
“Yes.” Logan’s voice stuttered, pleasure that sounded like tears. He was trying to bring Finn closer with every part of him, drawing him in with his heels and the clutching of his hands and his core. He pushed his head back into the pillows and Finn kissed over the curve of his throat. He got a hand around the side of it, thumb just under his chin, so he could keep him like that while he added another bruise.
He thought of the party tonight as he rocked into Logan harder and watched the mark form as he worked Logan’s skin. Logan looked beautiful at parties. Low lights made his green eyes go dark. Anyone could see he was taken now. He’d need to pull Leo aside at some point, kiss him until he got that beautiful, open smile on his face like at the museum.
“Rouge,” Logan’s voice whispered. Two hands on the sides of his face. Logan had sweat beaded on his upper lip. Finn kissed him and slowed his hips. Logan reached down for his waist, coaxing him on. His thumbs were two lovely pressure points against each hip bone.
“Beautiful at parties,” Finn said softly.
Logan’s eyes edged on bewildered at that, but they were happy. They told Finn that Logan knew he’d been thinking about something, could even picture what he’d been thinking, at least a little. They’d always been that way. Logan nodded quickly, bottom lip between his teeth.
He began to fall over the edge at that look on Logan’s face. How had Finn ever convinced himself that Logan didn’t love him?
Logan opened up again at the feeling of Finn emptying inside him. Finn held his breath and closed a tight fist around the pillow beside Logan’s head. For a minute, they were just two heartbeats.
When he could breathe again, Finn peeked out from the warm crook of Logan’s neck. There was that small smile on his face, his eyes closed. He was making figure-eights around the notches of Finn’s spine. Finn shivered, sensitive now, and he eased himself from Logan’s body and tucked Logan into his side.
As he watched, Logan’s throat moved as he swallowed. Finn touched one of the love bites he’d left behind. Logan curled a gentle grip around his fingers, his palm against the back of Finn’s. He kissed the pads of his fingers and opened his eyes to look down at him.
“And what do I sound like now that you have actually had me?” Finn whispered, then winced one eye closed when his voice cracked.
“Sorry, what was that?” Logan laughed through the words.
“Shut up.” Finn ran a hand from Logan’s chest all the way down to the soft bend of his knee. “Oo-Ways.” Finn kissed his shoulder. “Want me to clean up?”
Logan thought for a moment, stretching beneath Finn’s hands. “Non. Shower soon.”
“Want me to bring you a chocolate croissant?”
Logan smiled. “Hm. Chocolate. What a turn on.”

Remus rolled the car windows down to let the smell of the lake and trees in, and smiled when he felt Sirius’ hand settle on his thigh as he drove them up towards the mountain trails.
“I still feel bad,” Sirius sighed. “Fuck.”
“Julian is not mad at you.” Remus said. “All we said was that we were going on a date—he can’t be mad that he couldn’t come.”
“But he was,” Sirius groaned.
“Disappointed maybe. He’ll live.”
“He’s going to hate me.”
“He literally could never hate you.”
“He’s going to start liking James more.”
Remus laughed. “Oh. So, that’s what you’re really worried about.”
Sirius just frowned at the sun-streaked road. Remus reached up to ruffle his hair. “Turn left here.”
He’d packed a simple picnic lunch and picked a straight-forward trail to a lookout that he’d hiked to a million times. The earth was spongy and soft beneath his feet as he settled the small lunch box, packed with icepacks, at the bottom of his bag. Making sure Sirius wasn’t looking, he opened it briefly to check all was right, then zipped up his pack.
Sirius started a few paces ahead of him, head forward as he climbed over roots and rocks like they were racing and he was determined to come in first place.
“Hi, I’ll just be back here,” Remus called out. “Your fiancé, trying to take you on a romantic hike.”
Sirius didn’t turn right away, so focused that it took him a moment to register that Remus had spoken. He stopped on top of a flat rock and looked back.
“Quoi? Did you say something?”
“I said I’m just your fiancé, back here, trying to take you on a romantic hike.”
“What?” Sirius laughed and stepped down. He retraced his steps back to Remus’ side. Even in the more mild mid-mornings, sweat already shone on his cheeks.
“Aren’t we trying to get to the top?”
Remus laughed. “Um. We’re going to get to the top.” He tugged at Sirius’ backpack strap. “Doesn’t mean we have to do it in under an hour.”
“Oh.” Sirius’ smile, aimed at the trees, was sheepish. “Right.”
Sirius stuck close to him after that, bending to feel a small stream running past them, or pausing to take Remus’ picture. Remus laughed himself hoarse when the rustle of a rabbit, darting between bushes, caused Sirius to jump half out of his skin. Sirius laughed himself when Remus stepped right into another small stream and walked the rest of the way disgruntled by a soaked sock.
They came to the summit sweating and out of breath, but as the trees opened up to reveal only sky and blue-purple mountains, they both stood quietly.
“Wow,” Sirius said. He turned in a slow circle, pushing his hair out of his eyes. “It’s like we’re the only two left.”
“If there’s anyone I would choose…” Remus began, and Sirius started to smile. “It would be Thomas.”
Sirius rolled his eyes. “Ouais, sure. Thomas.”
They found a shade-spotted place beneath a tree and Sirius rolled out the blanket from his pack while Remus set out their lunch of turkey sandwiches with cranberry sauce—Sirius’ smile was worth the slightly soggy bread.
“Hey,” Sirius said softly. He turned Remus’ gaze away from his bag with a hand on his chin, and kissed him. Remus had expected it to be quick, and the warm swipe of Sirius’ tongue, then the small scrape to his bottom lip, made him sway and catch himself with a hand on Sirius’ knee. Sirius smiled at him when he pulled back. “Feels like yesterday.”
Remus nodded. From the corner of his eye, he could see his ring. “Yeah, it really does.”
“This is perfect.”
“Wait,” Remus said, then produced from between cold-packs, a half-bottle of champagne.
“Loop,” Sirius laughed delightedly. “Really—C’est parfait.”
Remus began to untwine the wire. “I thought you’d like that.”
They let the sun creep towards their blanket. The champagne in the plastic cups caught the light, and Remus wiggled his nose at some bubbles as Sirius cut into a ripe pear and passed him slices as he went.
“So.” Sirius took a sip of champagne. “Do you think anyone would listen to me if I tried any pull that might get Tremz back?”
Remus leaned back on his elbows. “Hm. Well, it’s not like—I mean, you wouldn’t exactly have to convince anyone on our side. But the Rangers would have to be willing to deal. Money would be the problem.”
“I think about it when I’m trying to fall asleep sometimes. I’d take a pay cut,” Sirius said. “And I wouldn’t ask that of Leo so early in his career, but I bet Finn would, too.”
“And Kasey’s retiring,” Remus added. “That frees up quite a bit.”
“Ouais, this is what I’m saying.”
“But if the Rangers aren’t interested—”
Sirius sighed. “Yeah…Yeah.”
“Logan’s about to get them to a Cup, their first in a long time, if all goes to plan.”
Sirius didn’t say anything, just looked out towards the mountains. He set the core of the pear aside, wiping the leftover juices on a napkin.
Remus sat up again. He rested a hand on Sirius’ sun-warmed neck. “I’m sorry, baby. I know you miss him.”
Sirius nodded. “I do, but… More I just…If we ever got traded apart—”
“La la la.” Remus scrunched up his nose. “No, don’t. We’re drinking champagne, you can’t talk like that while we’re drinking champagne.”
It had been one thing this year, getting used to being on a team with all of his closest friends. It would be something entirely different to be in another locker room, filled with other players—some of which probably wouldn’t trust his experience.
“I was just going to say, if it were me, or you, I’d hope someone would help me. And it has happened. A player leaving and returning. It happens.” Sirius glanced at Remus, then down. “This is going to sound bad, but I am the face of the Lions. When I got here, we were in a horrible slump. I was part of pulling them out of that. Me, James, Dumo, Kasey… Then Finn. Then Logan.”
“That doesn’t sound bad,” Remus said. “That sounds true. That is true. I’d know, I watched it happen.”
Sirius nodded, then groaned and fell back against the blankets, his head pillowed on Remus’ pack. “I’ll try. I just won’t say anything to him in case nothing happens.”
Remus set his cup in the grass and rolled onto his side to be near him. He righted with the 1 and 2 pendants, which had switched to twenty-one.
“I love you,” Remus said. He leaned down to press his nose into Sirius’ cheek, enjoying the slight scratch of his stubble. “I don’t know how anyone calls those grey eyes of yours cold.”
Sirius just smiled, his eyes closing. Remus lowered his head to his chest and felt his arm wrap around his shoulders. The sun felt like it was soaking into his very bones. The champagne had made his head pleasantly buzzy, and Sirius’ heart beat slowly beneath his ear.
“I love you, too,” Sirius said.
He had hardly finished the words when Remus felt one rain drop, two, right on his cheek—and then downpour.
The sky was still blue, even as the sudden shower was came down with such force that for a moment they both merely lay there, staring at each other. Finally, Sirius cracked a smile, let out a surprised laugh, and began to sit up.
“Whoa. Oh my God, shit, the—the blankets.”
Remus’ laugh startled out of him. He shut his eyes and turned his head up to the sky. “Oh my God.”
Distantly, thunder rumbled beneath the rattle of the rain on the trees.
“Here, Re, go under that tree and I’ll—”
But Remus just pushed at Sirius’ chest, getting him to stay where he was. “No. I—no, wait.”
Sirius’ t-shirt was already thin and clinging at his shoulders, carving itself into his muscles. He blinked fast, laughing as the rain ran into his eyes. Up close, there was nothing steely about his expression. He was rainwater. Remus tucked two fingers around the chain of his necklace.
“It’s just rain,” Remus said.
Sirius spluttered a little. “This is—someone turned a tap on.”
But Remus just laughed harder and put his hands into Sirius’ soaked hair. It slipped, silky and dark, between his fingers.
“I want to kiss you,” Remus said. Raindrops ran into his mouth and matted his hair down against his forehead. “I want to kiss you when no one is about to come around the corner or knock on our door our shout up the stairs.”
At that, Sirius stopped trying to salvage their small camp. His hands found Remus’ waist and he lay back on the soaked ground at Remus’ slight pressure. Let their champagne mix with the rain in the plastic cups. Remus wanted to see if he could taste that combination, and he leaned forward and kissed Sirius for the summer storm that he was.

Luke liked Saint in his apartment. He liked the steam coming out of his bathroom and the sliver-glimpse he got of his lean body stepping out of the glass-encased shower. Luke looked back to his own reflection in the mirror. He’d ironed his shirt, the soft white linen mostly unwrinkled now. At least, he’d tried. He snapped a quick photo and sent it to Logan with two question marks.
The reply came after a few moments.
Nice!!
Finn was looking over my shoulder he’s better at this - brown belt instead?
On subway also - maybe slow reply
Where are you going?
Luke sent him the link to the restaurant.
But I’ve never been. Finn have favorites?
This reply did take longer. Maybe the subway, maybe Finn thinking. Then a link came through. He tapped on the address and it loaded in Maps, showing a small restaurant, not too far away. The tables were small. Candles. Romantic. A wave of nerves heated Luke’s neck and he glanced at himself in the mirror.
Thanks a lot
“You’re dressed.”
Luke looked up at Saint’s voice. His expression matched the faint hint of surprise it had held. He had a towel around his waist.
Luke set his phone down on the dresser. His heart really shouldn’t be pounding this hard. They’d done this before. These almost-dates. Quiet-never-quite-said-dates. Romantic, sort of, but could be mistaken for anything by the table beside them. Business. Friends catching up.
“Did you want me to lie around naked all evening?” Luke asked.
Saint arched a brow, but he didn’t reply and Luke smiled down at the brown belt he was weaving through his slacks.
“Why are you dressed like that?” Saint stepped in a slow arc around him, as if he needed every detail of Luke. Maybe there was something wrong with Luke’s heart. Maybe love didn’t make everyone feel this way. But it was nice. He wanted Saint to make him explode, actually, he really kind of did.
Logan was on the subway with Finn. They were probably standing or sitting pressed together. Maybe kissing once or twice. Luke had kissed Saint in an Uber, dark and out of view of the driver’s mirror.
“You’re going to be dressed like this, too, in a second,” Luke said.
“Why?”
Logan, talking about Leo coming back from his trip home. That night at that one bar, Logan had spent nearly the whole time pressed into Leo’s side just…content. Just at ease. So at ease.
Luke walked forward and took Saint’s face between his hands. Water dripped from Saint’s hair onto the cuffs of his shirt. Little dark droplets that would dry and fade. He kissed Saint once, then looked at his closed eyes and did it again.
“I’m taking you on a date,” Luke said.
Saint’s eyes opened. He had his mask up, the one he wore over his expressions on the ice. He looked Luke up and down, then moved out of his reach and went to the dresser. His eyes snagged on Luke’s phone, which he’d left open to Finn’s restaurant.
In the mirror, Luke caught a glimpse of a small, bitten back smile.

Finn steered them into a liquor store where they picked up small bottles of rum, gin, and tonic.
“I don’t know, it’s probably BYOB?” Finn said, though Logan hadn’t asked. He loved Finn and Leo in these stores, chatting up the sellers, asking advice. “The address is an apartment not a bar. We’ll stop at a corner shop and get you soda.”
Logan let Finn lead. He snapped a photo of Finn examining a wine label and Leo replied hot.
Finn made quick conversation with the man at the bodega, then found them a subway and grinned back at Logan as they walked down the stairs to the sound of a train rushing into the platform.
“You gonna hop it again if I dare you?” Finn asked as he took his phone out to pass them through to the platform.
“Shut up,” Logan replied without looking at him. Finn laughed at him but placed a kiss on the back of his neck.
The train to Brooklyn was crowded, but Finn spied one free seat and motioned Logan towards it.
“You sit,” Logan said. “You’re holding all the bags.”
Finn narrowed his eyes but complied. “I feel unchivalrous.”
“Un—what about a horse?”
“What?”
“Un cheval.”
“Ooh. Yeah, I have no idea.” Finn pulled Logan in until he was standing between his thighs. Logan held onto the rail above them and watched Finn’s eyes drop to the strip of skin it exposed as his shirt rode up. Finn steadied Logan with hands on the backs of his knees, the bottles clinking gently in the bag on his lap. He glanced at the two people beside them, eyeing the headphones over their ears and their noses in their phones, before playfully biting at the waistband of Logan’s shorts, laughing when Logan tangled his fingers in his hair and tugged his head back.
“Tu es un peu chahuteur.”
“Hm,” Finn said. “Eye level.”
Logan just shook his head. He was trying to decide if he was crazy for how Finn caused such a happy pressure in his chest, when he felt his phone buzz in his back pocket. When he checked it, Finn tilted Logan’s phone down to see, then leaned back in his seat.
Logan laughed. “You’re such a baby. Luke’s just asking me if he looks okay for a date.” He turned the phone around. “There, you can see. I think he does.”
Finn glanced at the picture, then turned away in a huffy sort of way.
“Rouge.”
Finn made a show of adjusting the bag of bottles in his lap. He didn’t look up when he said, “Tell him to put a brown belt on instead of black. It’s softer.”
Logan smiled, leaned down to kiss Finn’s head, and typed on his phone. He heard Finn mumble something that sounded a bit like yeah, whatever.
Another text appeared. “He wants to know your favorite restaurants. Little bit fancy.”
“My favorite?”
“You did grow up here, so.” Logan was having a little bit of fun with the pink heat spreading across Finn’s cheeks. His ears. He reached out and rubbed a thumb over the warm shell of his left one. “Where would you take Le and I? Little bit fancy. Summer night. Nothing too heavy, have to play tomorrow…”
Finn worried the inside of his cheek for a moment, eyes on one of the subway ads behind Logan’s head. Finally, he sighed and took Logan’s phone. He typed an address and restaurant name into the text and hit send.
“Merci,” Logan said. “He says thanks.”
Logan let go of the above-head railing completely as the train pulled into another stop, letting people off. The two beside them hardly looked up and didn’t budge. Logan leaned more heavily into the cradle of Finn’s thighs, stabilizing himself as the train jostled forward again. He cupped Finn’s chin gentle and made him look up.
“I love you,” Logan said.
“I’m not jealous of him. I love that you have him, I’d be a horrible person if I didn’t, not to mention a terrible boyfriend,” Finn said. “I’m just—I’m jealous that he gets to see you every day.”
Logan put his fingers back in Finn’s hair, gentler this time. Finn closed his eyes and leaned into his touch.
“I know, Rouge.”
A whole season, Logan thought, not for the first time. How am I supposed to go a whole season without this?
They stood at the address’s buzzer for a few unanswered moments before texting Leo who told them to go around the alley and enter a gateway through the back. It led them to a courtyard, lit up by warm, white lights strung overhead. It was a crowded space, loud with laughter and music. Logan moved around the sparse lawn furniture, which was set out in odd pairs like different pieces had been left behind by different people. Leo. He just needed to spot Leo. Finn was looking, too, eyes scanning the crowd.
Finally, Logan found him, hitting Finn to get him to look. Leo was standing with three people, all of whom were listening to him tell a story. He was wearing a shirt Logan didn’t recognize, a lovely light blue color, and it was unbuttoned enough for Logan to see the pendant of his fleur-de-lis necklace. His chest and collarbones looked warm in the lights strung above the courtyard.
“Jesus,” Finn said. “Look at him.”
Logan chose that moment to trip a little on a loose stone, and Finn caught him with a hand on his chest but laughed so loudly a few people looked at them. Logan bit back a smile and shoved Finn.
“Fuck off.”
Finn just slipped their hands together and began to pull him in Leo’s direction. Logan pulled back, though.
“Wait.”
Finn looked at him, then at Leo, then back. “What? Why?”
“I think we shouldn’t interrupt,” Logan said. “Let’s just…” Logan was enjoying how lit up Leo looked, how much he deserved to be the center of attention like that. “Get his attention, but give him a second.”
Finn wasn’t subtle about it. He waved his hand above his head until the motion caught Leo’s eye then made a heart with his hands and pointed to the table filled with drinks. Leo grinned and nodded. His circle looked, too, and Logan smiled and looked down with hot cheeks when he saw Leo’s mouth form the words, those are my boyfriends.
At the drinks table, Finn’s hands were already swiftly pouring what looked like a gin and tonics.
“Ew,” Logan said.
“They’re for Leo and I,” Finn laughed. “Don’t worry, I’ve got you. Or I would, if you gave me elbow room.”
Logan pushed closer to him. Finn didn’t complain, just settled a hand on the back of Logan’s neck and began pouring coke into a cup one-handed.
“Well, this is familiar. Drinks table, loud music. Mixing you a drink.” Finn reached for the rum. “You gonna watch me flirt with girls from across the room?”
“Ouais.”
Finn raised his eyebrows, looking up from where he was pouring. “Ways? What do you mean ways?”
“Then I’m going to come over and show them you are mine.” Logan took the cup Finn had now filled with ice. “I’d like to do it a few times, actually. Just because I can now. Go talk to someone and I’ll wait five minutes for them to fall in love with you, and then I’ll come over.”
Finn just picked up his and Leo’s drinks, shaking his head, but he was grinning hard. “You think it takes five minutes?”
“It took me two, I think.”
Finn clicked his tongue, but put a foot out to stop Logan from walking. “Come here, Ten, fuck.”
His kiss was soft, even quick, but Logan was surrounded by voices and lights, he could smell the rum in his drink, and it was almost as if he was eighteen and getting everything he’d ever wanted.
“It took me one,” Finn said, then laughed and walked away from Logan’s eye-roll.
When they turned, Leo was already watching them and grinning.
“You’re here.” Leo called when they weaved their way through the crowd. “I—oh, thank you, sweetheart.” He took the drink Finn held out and accepted a quick kiss. “Y’all, this is Finn and Logan. This is Amanda, Harper, and John—it’s Harper’s birthday, this is her place.”
Logan used the introduction time to move around to Leo’s other side. He was more interested in Leo’s lean back in that shirt than whose birthday it was.
“Happy birthday,” he said, offering a small smile to a girl with a pretty bob and brown eyes.
“Thank you,” Harper smiled. “Thanks for coming—wait, which one is which? Logan, Finn, Finn, Logan…”
Finn raised his hand. “Finn.” He pointed. “Logan.” Logan watched as Finn slipped right into his element. “Happy birthday. Wow, this is a great place—courtyard in the city is such a score.”
“Oh my god, right?” John said. Logan met his eyes and realized he had been watching Logan take in Leo. Logan smiled back, maybe a little awkwardly, then looked down at his drink.
“Seriously,” Harper said. “I’m not even sure how I got so lucky.”
“How’d you find it?” Finn asked.
Logan let every part of himself relax. This was a rhythm he loved. Finn, launching into a conversation so easily that he hardly had to say anything, hardly had to do anything except feel it when Leo put an arm around his shoulders and turned his head down for a kiss.
“Hi, Lo,” Leo said in his ear. He carded a quick hand through Logan’s hair. “Oh my God, I didn’t realize it was getting kind of long. I love it. How are you?”
“Good,” Logan said. “You look really good.”
That brought Leo’s smile to a new light. “Thanks, I bought this today. You like it?”
Logan nodded, reaching forward to touch one of the small, white buttons. They had a slight sheen to them.
“Thanks for coming,” Leo said. “I know you’ve got training tomorrow.”
“I missed you this morning, I wanted to be with you.”
Logan knew he should let Leo keep up with the conversation around them, even if he just wanted to ask how his day was, and what he did, and where he got the shirt so Logan could get him more of that blue color.
Leo squeezed his shoulder. “I’ll come to the gym with you tomorrow, I think.”
Logan smiled. “That’ll definitely make it go faster.”
“Wait,” said Harper suddenly, drawing their attention. “So, you’re like—actually…I don’t even know what to call it—like you’re in a playoffs right now.”
Logan blinked, but figured Finn must have said something.
“I was explaining we met through hockey,” Finn said. “And John said I looked familiar, so I was saying about Alex and such, maybe he’s seen his face around.”
“Oh.” Logan took a quick sip of his drink. “Ouai—Yeah. So, we’re about to start the final round. I fly to Colorado the day after tomorrow for the first game.”
“How many games are there?” the other girl—Amanda?—asked.
Logan felt himself smile a little, and noticed Leo and Finn doing the same.
Amanda flushed a bit. “Sorry, that’s probably a stupid question.”
“Non, non,” Logan said quickly, mixing with Leo and Finn’s protests. “Non, it’s—Really, it’s nice to talk to someone who isn’t as, ah…” He looked at Finn, trying to find what he would have said in this situation. What was the thing he said? “Ah, wrapped up as we are in all of it.”
He paused, but Finn stayed quiet and the others were looking at him. “Um. Well, there could be four games, if one of us wins straight in a row.”
“A sweep,” Leo chimed in.
“Or there could be seven, if we really go back and forth.”
“And they’re all in Colorado?”
“Non, we trade off. Colorado, New York.”
“Damn,” John said. “That’s a lot of travel.”
“Tell me about it,” Leo said.
“So…” Harper gestured her drink between the three of them. “You’re all on different teams? That must be hard.”
Leo’s hand tightened around Logan’s waist. He saw Finn glance away.
“Ah, non. We were all on the Lions—Gryffindor’s team?”
“Oh, I love Gryffindor,” Amanda said. “My best friend moved there this past summer.”
Logan flashed a brief smile. “Ouais.” He nodded to Leo and Finn. “They’re still there. I got traded to New York a little while ago.”
“Oh.” John frowned. “Wow. I’m—is it weird to say I’m sorry? That feels weird.”
“Oh, no,” Finn assured him. “Believe me, we’re all sorry.”
“Hey, there are fights in hockey, right?” Amanda asked more brightly. “Do any of you do that?”
Regulus’ laugh reached them before he stepped up on Logan’s other side. “Wow. You two have been here for four minutes and we’ve already got the place flooded with hockey talk.”
“Guilty,” Finn said.
“Wait, so are you, like, famous to some people? To fans? Like would people stop you in the street?”
Logan just raised his eyes at Regulus. They obviously didn’t know who his brother was.
“Yep, got a couple of celebrities in our presence.” Regulus raised his eyebrows right back. “Bow down, I guess.”
“Oh, stop,” Leo laughed. “Finn, honey, come here, I want you to meet someone you’ll like. Lo?”
“Ouais, just going to get some more ice.” It was so hot, even with the sun lowering in the sky, that his drink was little more than watery soda.
When he found the ice again, it was also watery mush. Logan pushed a hand through his hair, cursing softly when it got caught on a knot. Leo was right, it was getting a little long, curling just at the back of his neck.
“Salut.”
Regulus had followed him apparently. He stood on the other side of the table a bit awkwardly, hands in the pockets of his shorts. His t-shirt said I can’t, the Rangers are playing.
Logan laughed, pointing. “I didn’t notice that.”
Regulus smiled and replied in French. Thank God, Logan thought. He was already tired. “A little inside joke. Sirius was livid.”
“Ha, I bet he was.”
“Here. Fresh ice,” He pushed a cooler Logan’s way.
“Ah, great. Hey, thanks for inviting us. I know you probably don’t want all the hockey stuff around but—”
“Non, non,” Regulus said quickly. “I mean, yes. But that’s not—I don’t mind so much anymore. Obviously.” He gestured to his shirt. “Just needed a break, you know? A clean slate for a while.”
Logan nodded. “I get it.”
“Thanks for coming. You’ve got a lot going on right now.”
“Non, it’s a great break. And I’m trying to soak up as much time with the boys as possible, so.”
“You do have a whole summer for that.”
Logan smiled. “But it’s a short summer.” He used a fresh cup to scoop some ice into his drink. “Oh, before I forget.” He checked behind him, but Leo and Finn were across the courtyard. “I got us a cottage for the wedding. When you’re not with Sirius, you should come over and hang out.”
“Oh. That’s cool.”
“The boys don’t know. It’s a surprise.”
“How long are you guys staying up there?”
“Just a week. But we’ll be leaving Loops and Cap—or.” Logan rolled his eyes at himself.
Regulus laughed. “Habit.”
“Yes. One that my new team is not a fan of. But anyway, we’ll all be leaving them alone so, if you want, you should come stay? I know Leo will like that. Finn and I, too. It’s got, like, six bedrooms, so. And a dock. The family I got it from said we can use their boat—motor and sail.”
Regulus took a sip of his drink—Logan couldn’t tell what it was with the opaque red cup. “I’d really like that. If it’s all right.”
“It’s more than all right. I might invite my friend Luke and—and Saint.”
“Deveaux and Montague?”
“Ouais. You can bring someone, if you want.”
“Oh.” Logan swore Regulus’ eyes found someone in the crowd. “Ha, maybe.”
Logan looked over again to see Finn and Leo talking to two girls. He recognized their shared glances and the way they leaned in to catch every word Finn said. His entire chest got warm when he saw Leo switch his drink from one hand to the other and put his hand low on Finn’s back.
“You and my brother are still close.” Regulus said it like a statement, drawing Logan’s attention back to him. Then he added, “Right?”
Logan took a drink, tilting ice into his mouth. “Always.”
Regulus nodded. “Right.”
Logan looked at him, waiting for more, but Regulus didn’t offer anything right away. There was a plastic box of cookies on the table and Logan pointed to them.
“Just cookies? Nothing that’s going to make morning skate rough?”
Regulus smiled. “Yeah, just cookies.”
He took one, too, as if to prove it. “Do you think of him as a brother? Sirius. I know he thinks of you that way.”
Logan paused with the cookie halfway up to his mouth. He wasn’t sure if he was overthinking that question—especially coming from Regulus.
“I mean, obviously not like you. But, yeah, I think of him like that.” Logan took another sip, the rum sweet on his tongue. “Just with—Pascal and everything. And I could speak French with him. And we were with each other when, you know. The pictures. My trade. He’s one of my closest friends.”
Regulus nodded. He stopped nodding, and then nodded again. He snapped the cookie in half and chewed slowly.
“I’m glad he had that,” Regulus said finally. “I was just… All this wedding stuff. He’s got so many people.”
Logan nodded. “Ouais. Yeah, he does.”
Out of the corner of his eye, Logan could see Finn and Leo extracting themselves from the girls.
“He’d give us all up for you, though,” Logan said.
Regulus blinked, eyebrows going up. “I wouldn’t want him to do that.”
“I know.” Logan felt Leo’s hands on his waist, laughing at something Finn had said. He had about two more seconds, holding Regulus’ eyes, to make sure he knew. “But he would.”
Even once Finn and Leo started talking at the same time, Regulus’ gaze stayed on Logan, and he gave a pleased, conceding nod.

Marauders era characters and they’re bi/gay awakenings except not all of them are the obvious answer
Sirius: Remus (starting off strong with an obvious answer, god damnit)
Remus: Professor Ferox (I know he isn’t a canon character but his first crush being a cool teacher makes so much sense to me)
James: Frank Longbottom (young James was concerned with two things, and that was quidditch and pranks. Frank Longbottom let them get away with pranks and was captain of the gryffindor quidditch team)
Peter: No one (he’s Aroace to me and simply learned to be annoyed at romantic attraction)
Lily: Pandora (no explanation, simply vibes)
Mary: Lily (no explanation, simply vibes)
Marlene: Mary (fell for her best friend, rookie mistake)
Dorcas: Marlene (fell for a girl who fell for her best friend, rookie mistake)
Pandora: Dorcas (I’ve never actually seen anyone ship them, and I’m not exactly doing that either, but I can see Dorcas being Pandora’a first girl crush out of respect for her as a witch and admiration of her beauty and their friendship)
Evan: Regulus (Barty is the obvious answer but I like rosewater a lot and it makes sense for them to be childhood friends, therefore give Evan time to like Regulus even before they went to hogwarts)
Barty: Regulus (Barty’s brain chemistry was rewired by his love for regulus, even if you choose to believe they’re not endgame. I choose to believe that tho. I’m biased. Fight me.)
Regulus: Remus (hear me out ok, I’ve mentioned this headcanon before but like Remus just has that cool ‘bad’ boy persona with his scars and how quiet he is, combined with how he’s an intellectual and he’s Regulus’ older brother’s friend… as a younger sibling he was cooked from the start)

The Storm
Some fluff for @jilytoberfest Day 29: Cold Winter Nights.
AO3 Link Here
“Alright Potter, if you are going to tease me then I will just go home—”
She turns on her heel to find that he’s now close—too close for them to be in a sitting room where Mr. or Mrs. Potter could walk in the door at any minute.
“You wanted to stay the night.”
“Mum, it's all right. I spoke with Mrs. Potter and she said that I can stay over without a problem. God knows they won’t even realize I’m here with a house this big—”
She feels weird talking on a phone in an otherwise aggressively ‘wizard’ sitting room, but both James and Mrs. Potter had been delighted to hook up their ancient telephone so she could ring home.
“I’ll be back in the morning when the storm lets up.” She hangs up the phone and turns to find that she isn’t alone. James stands in the corner, arms folded behind his back, face cut in half by a wide grin.
“Do I want to know?” She lifts an eyebrow and his grin gets impossibly wider.
“Storm will make it hard to get home, eh?”
She ignores him, pretending to become fascinated with the book selection.
“Because it’s not like floo powder still works in a storm.”
She hopes that if she remains silent he will let up—a rookie mistake.
“And it’s not like storms effect apparition—”
“Alright Potter, if you are going to tease me then I will just go home—”
She turns on her heel to find that he’s now close—too close for them to be in a sitting room where Mr. or Mrs. Potter could walk in the door at any minute.
“You wanted to stay the night.”
Her throat goes dry, cheeks burning. She could deny it, push him away and tell him to get his thick brain out of the gutter, but her brain is going fuzzy with his body heat leaning into her.
“I just figured that since Sirius is at his uncle’s, I could just bunk in his room. Mum’s very nervous when I travel—”
He hums in dissatisfaction, close enough now that the sound vibrates across her skin.
“Sirius’ room—you definitely don’t want to go in there. Merlin knows what he’s been up to.”
“Then I’ll ask your mum to make up one of the other rooms—seems like you have an endless supply.”
He nods, taking a step back. The distance creates a visceral reaction and she fights the desire to take him by the shirt and press their bodies together.
“Definitely the reputable thing to do—ok c’mon then.”
She follows on his heels as he lopes his way through what feels like labyrinthine corridors, passing portraits of men with familiar untidy hair alongside elaborate paintings of mythical creatures. They get to the east side of the house and James stops at a heavy set door that is left ajar. A glint of red and gold peeks out from the crack.
“Is this where I’m staying?” James cheeks flush. All of his cockiness drained into a bashful expression.
“No—this one’s mine. But there’s a room right next to it that you can use.”
She can’t help herself. She presses on the door and it groans open. It's like his dorm room but with grander treatment—similar quidditch and music posters line the walls but instead of a modest four poster bed, a much too large mahogany one takes up most of the room.
“Quaint.” She can feel him watching her and she turns back to him. He’s straight as a board, face a deep crimson as his eyes search her face.
“It’s—my room.” He says weakly, like this wasn’t already known. “We can…go in if you want.”
Her heartbeat quickens. There is little left to the imagination when the boy you’ve been snogging for months invites you into his very big, very welcoming bedroom. Her mind wanders a floor below where she knows his mum and dad are both sitting in the study, simultaneously too close and far away.
“Maybe you can show me the other room first? That way I know where it is–”
“Right.” He turns quickly, movements more erratic than they were down in the sitting room.
He walks a couple of steps to the nearest door and turns the knob. Inside is a mirrored bedroom, but with significantly less character. For Potter standards it’s a simple guest room but it surpasses any room the Evans’ house could dream to have.
She sticks her head through the doorway to scan the room. It’s good, a comfortable and safe option—but that’s not what she wants.
“I like yours better.” She states plainly, but her whole body flushes crimson. His head whips to her, eyes blown wide.
“Yeah?” He steps close, confidence mounting with each second. She can feel a warm hand hover at the small of her back and his face looms so close she can see the flecks of gold in his irises.
“Just because it’s supposed to be a really cold night.” Her brain is swimming, vision now being taken over by him and his hovering lips.
“Would hate to have you freeze to death on my watch,” he murmurs, lips grazing hers, eyes closing. His other hand curls into her hair and she leans into his touch.
“---and I’m not very keen on storms.”
“Me either—terrified of them.” His lips skim past her mouth and drag a path up to her ear, a smile evident.
“You don’t think your parents-–” but he’s already grabbing her hand, ushering her back towards his room. He walks his way backwards so as to not remove their distance from each other, lips finally making contact.
“Don’t worry Evans,” he says, a smirk forming against her, “Just like you said: with a house this big, they won’t even realize we’re here.”

Put Your Money on Me
Fugitive Sirius Black x Bounty Hunter Remus Lupin
___
Remus grimaced at the bitter taste of the cheap beer and pushed the plastic cup away from him. The bar in which he was currently situated was grimy and filthy, although the dark red and black tones hid it quite well. Unfortunately, the inferiority of the beer could not be hidden.
He sighed quietly, discreetly glancing at door. His patience was running thin and the dodgy nature of the rough-faced men sitting around him was putting him on edge.
Many times in his twenty-five years of life, he had found himself questioning why he made the choices he made. Why had he, at the tender age of eighteen, decided to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice rather than sequestering himself in English Literature? Why had he not gone to Law school, Grad school, or any of the other places he could have gone? Instead, he had found himself writing an exam, and rubbing shoulders with bond agents.
All this had led him to this exact moment where he sat in a grubby bar, waiting for his informant, a shifty-eyed man named Arthur, to arrive.
Not for the first time, he cursed Sirius Black.
Depending on who you asked, Sirius Black was the heir to the criminally rich, Black crime family, but he was also the black sheep, stepping out of his family’s footprints, and joining the opposite, clean side of the law, at least for a while.
The one thing that everyone could agree on was that six months ago, Sirius Black had, through many eye-witnesses and his DNA found on the murder weapon, brutally murdered Peter Pettigrew, a fellow cop, in the back of a Knockturn Alley, a drug-breeding ground.
The story was that Black had a change of heart, and had turned his back on the law, following in his family’s footsteps. He had been dabbling in drug distribution, and Peter had found out. It was believed that Black had gone mad after the death of his estranged, younger brother, Regulus, leading to his actions. Technically, there was no actual evidence found proving that Black had done anything illegal, well anything illegal other than the eventual murder.
Peter had notified the police force, but being a new, nervous rookie, he had wanted to prove himself. He had followed Black that day, and Black, trying to cover up his crimes from being discovered, had shot Pettigrew.
Sirius had then been apprehended by his fellow officers, but Pettigrew, who had fled with a bullet wound was no where to be found. The Leuitenant, Barty Crouch, had later confirmed that Peter had been found dead.
Remus didn’t care much for the details of how and when. Despite the homicide charges, Black, through his influential name, and many connections, had managed to get out on bail. This is where Remus had come in the picture, when five months ago, Sirius Black had not shown up to his court date.
An extended search had been done, but Black had disappeared into thin air. He had taken a large sum of money and had fled, officially making him a fugitive.
Remus, a bounty hunter, had been contacted by a cop named James Potter, Black’s partner, to help hunt him down. For reasons, Remus didn’t want to ponder, Potter had promised to pay Remus a hefty fund to find Black before the FBI did,
Remus personally did not really care for the details. He was here for the check and the check alone. Well, before atleast. Now he thought mournfully of the money he would never get, based the ways events were unfolding.
“Remus?” rang out a voice from behind him.
Remus spun in his seat to see a short, chubby man with a receding auburn hair line. Mentally matching him with the profile in his head, he nodded.
Gesturing for Arthur to take a seat, Remus fixed the collar of his black trench coat and raked back his brown hair, scanning the bar one more time for any eavesdroppers.
“Thank you again Arthur, for reaching out. Any information you share, small or big, will be very helpful.”
Arthur simply fidgeted in his seat, looking down at his lap.
Remus, mentally sighed, before softening his voice more, “I understand you’re nervous but I’m not a cop. I’m not going to arrest you, Arthur, I’m paying you, remember?”
At the mention of money, the cost Remus would have to pay for Arthur’s words, the shabbily dressed man looked up with resolve in his gaze.
Taking a look around the bar, like a ghost would jump out from the corner, Arthur began telling Remus what he knew.
Arthur was an, alleged, member of the Death Eaters, the most notorious gang in the city of Gryffindor.
Perhaps through a final attempt of honour and honesty, Arthur had reached out to Remus, revealing a different tale to Remus, one that the Daily Prophet, had not been telling.
__
Hours later, Remus felt drained, staring blankly at the dirty bar counter, long after Arthur had scurried off into the night. The knowledge that Arthur had confirmed sat heavy on his chest.
He tightened his coat around him as the cold, night hit him when he walked out the bar. Despite the late hour, the city was mostly silent around him. Even the partygoers of Gryffindor knew to not stay out too late. You never knew who would find you.
Remus, still and stealthy in the night, cut through the side streets, one hand firmly around a sleek, black gun, under his coat.
Pausing in the corner of an alley, as a patrolling officer passed by, Remus glanced up at the night sky. Despite the smog that covered downtown, Remus glanced to where he knew he would otherwise see the bright, constellation Regulus, and felt emotion bubbling in his throat.
Shaking himself out of it, he stepped back out on the street and slinked around the block.
He only relaxed and released the gun, firmly hiding it’s shape from sight, when he stepped into his apartment complex.
It took him a few minutes to find his key in his messy pocket, but he quietly inserted it, swinging open the door of his apartment, and immediately turning around and re-locking the three locks on the door. Throwing the keys into the bowl beside the door, he kicked off his shoes, and stepped into the kitchen, not bothering to flip the light on.
Moonlight filled the apartment from the now slightly open blinds, that Remus swore he had fully closed before leaving.
He busied himself looking for a snack in the cupboards, humming quietly under his breath.
Remus stilled when he heard a noise from behind him , and before he could blink, someone had wrapped themselves around him.
Remus gasped before he smiled, relaxing into the hold.
Sirius’s arms wrapped themselves around Remus’s waist and Remus leaned back into his broad and warm chest. He sighed happily as Sirius placed his chin on the top of Remus’s head.
Taking a minute to breathe in the man’s comforting scent, Remus spoke, “I thought I told you you to not open the blinds. Anyone could see you!”
Sirius let out a laugh, “Someone is going to see me in the dark room, in the middle of the night, on the sixth floor, through the barely open blinds?”
Remus huffed, “Siriu-“
Sirius simply tightened his hold on Remus, nudging him for a kiss. At the last moment, Remus turned his head so that Sirius’s lips met his cheek instead.
Sirius sighed before murmering, “Ok, I’m sorry, my love. I’ll be more careful. I'm just-, I'm getting a bit antsy in here.”
This time when Sirius leaned down for a kiss, Remus happily obliged.
He pushed out the thoughts of his troubling conversation out of his mind. That was something for tomorrow, tonight was just for them.

Sirius Black (C) - #12 - Keep Quiet...Nothing Comes as Easy as You
For fic-o-ween @noots-fic-fests. As always thanks to @lumosinlove
Pairing: Coops! (Sirius/Remus)
Rating: E
Description: Sirius doesn't usually go to charity galas. Remus doesn't usually come to them either...
It wasn’t the usual kind of thing they attended. Sirius was more than happy to give worthy people and noble causes his money, but he wasn’t often the type to give them his publicity, his face. He’d had cameras shoved in front of him since he was fourteen—wide-eyed and away from home for the first time on his first billet. The constant attention had made him allergic to anything involving the media that wasn’t necessary (read: contractually obligated) for his job. But this was different.
It was kids and hockey. Gay kids and hockey. And Leo’s eyes had done that thing they did where they got all wide and blue when he’d asked Sirius to help. Leo hadn’t been a rookie in a solid five years, but he was still a rookie to Sirius. How Logan and Finn ever told Leo no was beyond him. Somehow, he doubted they ever did.
‘It’s still really new, you know. The foundation. Lots of high schoolers. I’m just…I want to leave something that makes all of this better. Makes it so what happened to you can’t happen again.”
That had sealed it—Leo’s earnest concern and his bare affection.
He’d almost regretted it until he’d seen Remus. Remus wasn’t exactly a snazzy dresser most of the time. Sirius didn’t care. He didn’t need it. Remus was gorgeous in his ratty workout clothes, holes and all, while he was panting and covered in sweat from the drills he insisted on running in the basement, even on days off. If Remus had his preference, he’d wear the same navy suit every single game day. Given Remus’s propensity to ritual, Sirius was kind of surprised he hadn’t already insisted on it. When Remus had shrugged at the question of his attire, Leo had shaken his head and sent him away with Finn for an afternoon.
Now he was coming down the stairs, still fiddling with a cufflink.
“Ready to go?” He asked.
“Ugk,” was Sirius’s brilliant response.
The tux jacket was a coppery kind of brown. Fairly dark, but it caught the light and tossed out warmer flashes of rust and bronze. It made Remus’s amber eyes look almost otherworldly, golden and glowing.
Remus gave a smirk like he knew what he was doing.
“What’s wrong, baby? Cat got your tongue?” He asked.
Okay…definitely knew what he was doing.
He reached out straightening Sirius’s already perfectly straight lapels and smoothing them across Sirius’s chest.
“I’ve always liked this tux on you,” Remus mused, looking up at him through his lashes.
“You like all of them on me,” Sirius croaked. When had his throat gotten so dry?
“Fair point. Your shoulders, you know?” Remus admitted with a little shrug saying, ‘what can you do?’ “C’mon handsome, let’s get a move on.”
Sirius had followed him out like a lost puppy.
The fundraiser was at an art museum. They had spent the evening taking in the sculptures and the paintings, and not for the first time, Sirius wished he had more time for things like this. What would it be like to make something for a living? Real things he could touch and feel? He wondered sometimes about how things would have gone had life been different? Wondered, but then dismissed it. He looked at Remus and thought that if life had to be precisely what it had been—Walburga included— to be right here, right now, so be it.
“Come on, there’s something I want to show you,” Remus said, tugging at Sirius’s hand. He wasn’t sure where Remus was taking him, but it didn’t really matter. Sirius would follow him regardless.
Remus looked over his shoulder before tugging him into a darkened room. By the light of the moon in the tall windows, Sirius could make out the soft pastel brush work of what looked like paintings of a million ponds and rivers, all the colors melting into one another. In the back there was an alcove. It looked like a place where a sculpture should go, but there wasn’t anything there right now.
Wasn’t until they were.
“What is—”
Suddenly, Sirius was being kissed. Not a peck or something romantic.
No, it was something filthy. Remus was kissing him like he played—full throttle, zero to 100 immediately, no time for you to mount a defense or catch your breath. And just like when Remus played, Sirius chased him.
“You’re so fucking hot. Jesus Christ,” he said against Sirius’s mouth. It came out slick and panting against his lips, and Sirius was helpless to say anything other than,
“Remus.”
Remus’s hands were knitted into his hair, pulling his head to the side so he could kiss a hot line up the cord of his neck. “I want you,” he whispered, breath hot against Sirius’s cheek.
“What? Here?” Sirius could hear the party still going from down the hall, but something about that made him hard so fast in his tuxedo trousers that he felt lightheaded from the blood loss to his brain. They’d talked about a situation like this, gasped into one another’s ears when they were teetering on the mutual brink. And then, later in the sheets, they’d discussed it more calmly in theory. If the opportunity ever presented itself, of course.
“Mmmhmm. I’m gonna ride you into the fucking ground, baby,” he said, crowding Sirius against the wall. One of his hands found the front of Sirius’s trousers. “Oh, you like that.”
Of course he liked it. It was Remus.
It was Remus…getting on his knees and drawing him out from the confines of his pants and boxers.
“Mon Dieu,” Sirius breathed.
Remus made a show of laving his tongue up and down Sirius’s cock, worshiping the crown with moaning laps and greedy eyes.
“Love the way you taste,” he panted, pink tongue pressing to the tip where Sirius was steadily leaking. “Drives me fucking crazy.”
It was incongruous. Remus looked to put together, so fussy and formal, meanwhile his mouth was wrapping around his cock, cheeks hollowing. Sirius had the urge to muss him, so he wove his hand into Remus’s sandy hair when Remus finally pulled him deeper into his mouth.
“Fuck, Re.” His head thunked back against the wall as he felt Remus’s throat teasing at him, just out of reach. God, if he kept going Sirius was going to come.
Remus pulled back. “I gotta…”
He didn’t explain further, just yanked Sirius down against the wall. Clothes and limbs were tugged and arranged until Sirius was sitting bare-assed, back against the wall, and Remus straddling him in his lap. His hands found Sirius’s jaw and he leaned down to kiss him, slow and languid.
He reached down for Sirius’s cock, next moves telegraphed to Sirius as if he’d described them.
“R-Remus,” he gasped. “What about—”
Remus did that thing he always did, knowing what Sirius’s thoughts were almost before he’d had them. He took Sirius’s hand, kissing his fingertips before guiding it to his entrance.
“Oh fuck,” Sirius moaned. “When?”
“Right before I got dressed,” Remus said, going up on his knees to grind into Sirius’s hand. “Didn’t want to have to wait. Knew I wouldn’t last…you looking like that. Fuck.” Sirius tried to ignore the image of Remus fingering himself open and fantasizing about what he was going to do to Sirius later.
“You planned for this?” Sirius asked, dumbfounded. It was hard to concentrate on anything with Remus’s clinging heat clutching around his fingers.
“Hoped, baby. Now, are you gonna let me ride you?”
Sirius nodded urgently like it was the best idea Remus had ever had. Honestly, absent the gold band on his ring finger, it might be.
Remus lined him up and worked himself down slowly just the way he liked it.
“Fuck,” Remus sighed, throwing his head back, his skin pale and perfect in the moonlight. “God, I love the way you split me open. So good. Feel so perfect.”
Sirius wanted to thrust his hips up, but the angle meant all he could do was sit there and let Remus fuck himself on him. Remus’s head came back to his ear, and he started whispering to Sirius in low murmurs punctuated every so often with sighs.
“So fucking gorgeous, Sirius. I wanted to rip your clothes off and fuck you in the middle of that gallery hall,” he admitted. “Just so everyone knew who you belonged to.” It was ridiculous that anyone looked at Sirius and couldn’t immediately glean that he was for Remus, designed and tailored just for him. Still the idea of it made him gasp.
“You like that, baby? People watching us while I fuck you?” He’d love to tell him that it was him fucking Remus, but it wasn’t really. Instead, all he could do was quiver and nod. “Everyone watching you lose it?”
Sirius’s hands clutched uselessly at Remus’s hips. He knew trying to drag him down faster would just mean slower. Harder would mean softer. Demanding would just mean refusing. He’d learned that lesson the hard way…several times.
He let the idea of it invade his mind. The shocked crowd watching as Remus made it crystal clear just who was in charge for the evening, Sirius desperately trying to choke back moans and being unable to. People seeing just what a mess Remus could make him.
Finally, Remus was seated, his ass firmly resting on Sirius’s hips. Remus started moving his own hips in little circles, just enough to be a tease, nothing that’d bring either of them relief anytime soon.
“There wouldn’t be any hiding from it, then, Sirius. Everyone would know. Intimidating Captain Sirius Black’s a desperate slut. Is that what you want? For them to know?”
That word was like a hardwire into Sirius’s brain, and he moaned a little too loudly.
Remus laughed and kissed him quiet. “Shhh, baby. Unless you’re serious.”
Sirius quirked an eyebrow at him.
Remus groaned, this time not in pleasure. “That joke will eventually get old.”
“Hasn’t yet, Loops.”
Remus laughed despite himself and then started moving in earnest. Sirius bit at his throat, one of his hands scrabbling to find grip against the stiff fabric of Remus’s dress shirt and feeling the heat of his back through it.
“Remus. Remus. God. Feel so good. So…tout.” Everything. Fuck it was true. Sirius never felt more than he felt right here, Remus as close as he could be—blood hot, vice tight, and velvet soft—both of them working together to chase this bliss. Working together to make it.
“That’s right, baby. Just like that,” Remus said, finding his mouth again and tongue licking inside.
Sirius moved to grab Remus’s cock, hard and leaking between the tails of his shirt, but Remus shook his head. “Wanna come from just your cock. You can do that for me can’t you, baby?”
Sirius felt drunk. Way more than half a glass of champagne would have accomplished. No, it was just Remus, finding and mashing every one of Sirius’s buttons in a complicated sequence only he knew.
“Fuck, yes. Yeah, yeah, I can do that.”
“Good boy.”
“Calisse. Are you trying to kill me?” Sirius hissed.
“No, sweetheart. I’m trying to make you lose your mind.”
Sirius got hazy from there, got lost in the two of them rutting into one another and keeping rhythm. Remus’s mouth was pressed to his ear, whispering and murmuring filthy half-phrases between hard rocks of his hips. And then—suddenly.
A noise.
Closer than any of the ones before. Hard heeled steps down the hallway. Closer and closer by the second. Remus pulled back.
He expected Remus to stop, freeze.
He did. Just for a moment. And then, he didn’t.
He put his hand over Sirius’s mouth.
“Shhhh, baby. Quiet now,” he whispered firmly, eyes boring into Sirius’s.
Sirius’s eyes rolled back in his head as Remus resumed their pace and kept talking to him, just barely loud enough for Sirius to hear even with his mouth so close.
“Who knows? You might just get your wish. Wanna show them some art, pretty baby?”
Sirius felt pinned down and glued in place. Between the weight of Remus on top of him, the look in his eyes, and his hand at his mouth, Sirius couldn’t have moved if he wanted to. He didn’t want to. The threat of being caught made the tension ratchet up, made the urgency of it as sharp as a skate blade. He wanted it. Wanted them, whoever they were, to see. See him held down and fucked ruthlessly by his gorgeous husband, a plaything for Remus to get off with, something needy and desperate that only belonged to Remus and no one else. Even if they wanted him for themselves, tried to tempt him away with bedroom eyes and bitten lips, it didn’t matter. It was just Remus to whom he’d crawl to on his hands and knees. Remus who he’d beg for, break for, breathe for.
The noise got closer and closer, and Sirius was certain at this point they must be close to the entrance to the room.
Remus’s eyes went glassy and then he was coming, lips bitten shut to keep from moaning out loud. Sirius could feel the hot streaks of it against his stomach, shirt rucked up and out of the way.
He paused only long enough to ride out his peak and then kept going, if anything, more intently now, watching Sirius with the same focus he gave everything he wanted.
“What’s in here?” A unfamiliar voice asked.
Oh fuck.
Sirius was coming helplessly, mouthing Remus’s name silently against his palm.
“Oh, nothing much. Come on, there’s a sculpture room down the hallway,” another voice answered.
The steps receded into the background, but Sirius wasn’t aware of anything beyond the hot pulse of his cock pouring into Remus, the solid weight of him the only thing holding Sirius down in his own body.
Remus moved his hand, replacing it with his mouth as he kissed Sirius down from his high.
“Perfect, baby. You’re so perfect for me,” he crooned between kisses. “Fucked me so good, sweetheart. Filled me up so well.”
The praise was heady, bubbling in his cortex and making his spine shiver.
“Holy fuck, Remus. You’re going to fucking kill me one day.”
Remus laughed, something dark and deep and promising.
“No way. Where’s the fun in that?”
Somehow, Remus got him back into his tux and got himself dressed, too. Sirius was certainly no help, still reeling from endorphins. He smoothed his hands through Sirius’s hair several times, eyeing it suspiciously. Sirius doubted there was anything he was going to do for it that avoided ‘just fucked,’ but if it made Remus feel better about it, he’d stand here and be pet.
They slipped back into the main room, most people lingering over after dinner drinks and fancy little desserts floating by on trays.
“Enjoying yourself?” Leo asked, giving Sirius a wry smile.
“I have no idea what you mean,” he sniffed.
“’Course not. Dumo’s house all over again,” Leo said, smirking into his whiskey.
“If I remember correctly, someone was really interested in looking at Dumo’s guest bathroom that night…” Sirius said. “Besides, didn’t Finn have that tie on earlier?”
Leo turned to look at Logan and Finn and rolled his eyes. Logan’s teal tie clashed with Finn’s navy suit. “They really are hopeless.”
“Good thing they’ve got you, huh?”
Leo laughed now. “Hardly. Who do you think it was that got them out of their ties in the first place?” He asked before wandering over toward the pair of them.
“I was going to get more drinks, but I’m kind of ready to go home,” Remus said, appearing at his elbow. “Think Leo’d be okay with it?”
Sirius snorted. “Leo will be just fine.”
He thought about getting Remus back out of all his fancy clothes, stretching him out in their bed and licking into him, tasting the place he’d just marked before pressing back into him and hearing Remus’s high whine from the almost-too-much of it all.
He looked over at Remus, who looked like he had similar ideas.
“What are you waiting for? Let’s go.”

Keep me?
If you don’t want—
Keep me. Keep me.
I can do that.
Remus Lupin was the biggest idiot in the world. And also stupid. And utterly, hopelessly, unbelievably head over heels for the gorgeous lump of muscle and sweet smiles he had left, adorable and asleep, in a Midtown double-wide.
God, he was so fucking dumb.
You better not be on-call tomorrow morning, ‘cause you’re making me breakfast.
His mouth didn’t always run off on him, but when it did, it always did it with a bang. His bouncing knee rattled the broken edge of his seat and made the lady next to him shoot a dirty look across her phone. The subway hustled onward; Remus glanced at his watch and found that time had not, in fact, decided to run backward and that he was, in fact, officially late for his shift.
Shithell.
He wasn’t even given the mercy of an empty kitchenette to slink into after sprinting the three blocks from his stop to the station. “Good morning, sunshine,” Leo cooed with a smile wide enough to be frightening. He oozed the smug confidence of a man who had more than earned the purple smudge peeking out of his shirt collar.
Remus ground his back teeth against the blood rushing to his face and snatched a mug from the cupboards. The coffeemaker juddered a familiar rhythm. Id-i-ot. Id-i-iot. Id-i-ot.
“How was your night?”
“None of your business.”
“I covered your ass for the last—” Leo gave the wall clock an exaggerated look. “—twenty-seven minutes, my goodness. I think I deserve an explanation.”
A prim sip of tea made Remus’ eye twitch. “I overslept.”
“Exciting. You look sore. Sure you’re ambulatory?”
Remus managed to choke down a knee-jerk defense; something in Leo’s glittering eyes told him this situation would not be made better by a description of his rather athletic night. “Yes.”
“Nice hickeys. What is this, a frat house?”
His hand flew to his neck before his mind could catch up. The panic hit first, followed by a chaser of distilled regret. “God—fuck you!” he complained, shaking his hand out as if that would roll back an instant admission of guilt. Leo buried a grin in the rim of his mug and blew steam at him. Remus snatched the coffeemaker up and gave himself a heavyhanded pour. “It was a good night. I overslept. I’m here now.”
“Twenty-seven minutes.”
“…sorry.”
“No, no, this is worth it. Only your lucky-ass self would find the one call-free morning to oversleep.” Leo’s pager (a preference of the chief) gave a light buzz—saved by the bell. He downed his tea in one gulp, patting down his front pockets the way Remus had taught him during his first week. But then Leo paused with one hand on the wall separating the kitchen from the rest of the station. His chin jerked forward. “Nice shirt, by the way. Don’t think I’ve seen that one before.”
Remus looked down at himself and spit a mouthful of coffee straight into the sink.
--
Hey I’m so sorry.
Nope.
Good morning—
Certainly not.
Hey, I’m sorry, I’m stupid and forgot about my shift this morning even though I was on your case about the same thing, so sorry for saying you could keep me and then leaving you in bed. You were too cute to wake up. Also sorry for stealing your shirt.
Remus’ phone dimmed over the open ‘Messages’ app. Sirius’ Instagram bubble had been green on his last break. He let the screen go dark. Boisterous laughter spilled in from the other side of the station and his heart kicked. No, he thought firmly. Sirius’ team. Not Sirius.
Sirius, who probably woke up alone and cold and confused. Hours had come and gone. He definitely hated Remus’ guts by now.
Don’t fuck your coworkers. How many times had he drilled that sentiment into the heads of his rookies? How many times had Moody drilled it into him? Other stations were fair game, open season, free reign, but don’t fuck your coworkers, stupid. And definitely don’t fuck your coworkers stupid.
Remus’ face heated. He forced those thoughts out of his mind. Under his thumbnail, his phone case bent, and he shoved it into his pocket before it could distract him further. The mental highlight reel of Sirius coming apart under him (around him) was no excuse. He knew better. Sleeping with a coworker was a rookie mistake, but this…this was so much worse, because it was Sirius.
It had been so much better, because it was Sirius.
And he had thrown it away. All of it. Sirius would be right not to look at him after this. He’d be right not to want him.
No more thoughts of dark stubble, or spicy cologne, or the clench of thighs around his waist. No more lingering on Sirius’ wayward grins and soft hair through Remus’ fingers, or the steady way his breath puffed over Remus’ skin when he began to fall asleep. If he could just focus on inventory for twenty more minutes—
The siren slit his concentration down the middle.
“Fuck,” he muttered, checking off a last box of sterile gloves before jogging for the door. Leo was dozing in the window seat he had padded for himself a year back and jolted awake when Remus smacked the wall next to his head. “Go time, Knutty, lights and sirens!”
“All EMS personnel, report to rig 6—”
“Inventory?”
Remus grimaced. “Halfway.”
“Why can’t people ever have convenient emergencies?”
“Make sure to send the next flash flood my calendar availability, yeah?”
They took the corner tight, sneakers squeaking on the concrete. The rig crew was already set up for them—Remus loved it when people took advantage of a slow morning—and he snagged a set of keys off the wall hook with a glance at his pager, chucking them to Layla.
“Bravo on 3rd and Central!” he called to her. “You drive, Knutty and I have the back.”
“On it!”
Go, go, go. If there was one thing Remus loved about this job, it was the total inability to dwell. His keel found even water best when the waves were rolling up around them. Stagnancy was not an option. “D-1, Layla, talk me through!”
“Multiple victims!”
“D-4?”
Her expression flickered for just a second. “Explosion.”
“What’s the Bravo tell you?” Seatbelts, stretcher, respirator. The first ambulance was already out—it would be engines next, then their backup squad. He opened his mouth to speak and found Leo already packing burn ointment into the front compartments. “Nice, Nut. Layla! Bravo!”
“Sorry, uh—potentially life threatening, basic support!”
He knocked on the window between the cab and the rear, and passed a thumbs-up through the gap. “Three for three. Keep it up.”
“Remus!”
“Hi, yeah—”
Remus nearly choked on his own tongue. “Sorry, bad timing,” Sirius rushed out. He pressed close to the ambulance, which was the logical and spatially-aware thing to do in a bustling firehouse, but did absolutely nothing to quell the tsunami crashing through Remus’ insides.
“Hi,” Remus repeated, breathless in the surge. “I’m so sorry. I’m so dumb. Last night was—good, it was really good to—um—multiple burn victims, also sorry for stealing your shirt?”
“We can talk later, it’s okay.” Sirius was looking at him. It was strange. Not…not quite desire, but searching. For what, Remus didn’t know.
The engines roared to life. Sirens fractured his hearing. Layla would have them up and running in the next fifteen seconds. “I’ll be right back!” Remus shouted over the noise, leaning out between the aluminum doors to be heard. “Probably! And—god, sorry I left, that was a dick move!”
“It’s fine!”
“Not really! I didn’t want to!”
Sirius barked a laugh. “I’m glad!”
A laugh simmered in his own chest, fighting to get out. He started to speak again (though to say what, he wasn’t sure) only to be silenced by a quick, chaste press of lips on his own. He sat hard on the cold bench behind him.
“Screaming people,” Sirius said. A grin dimpled his cheek. “Go get ‘em.”
The ambulance jerked forward; Remus kept his side of the doors open as long as he could, spellbound, just to see him stand there against the reds and golds of their shared home. The slam of aluminum and steel dragged him from his dazed reverie. He pressed back against the wall and blinked the stars out of his eyes.
On the opposite bench, Leo clucked his tongue. “So that’s where your shirt went.”
The laughter bubbled free, and it didn’t stop until Remus felt half-drowned from it.

FinnLo Math
Hi, welcome to Lucky's hyper fixation at the current moment
For the past two weeks I have binge read Sweater Weather, Vaincre, and Coast to Coast by the lovely @lumosinlove and just want to say, Jesus Christ. I have actually fallen in love with O'Nutzy SO HARD and they are amazing and I'm absolutely a slave to Harvard Era FinLo. To @lumosinlove, this is a masterpiece and now I want to watch hockey, you've infected me.
Anyway, with credits out of the way, I did some math, (get ready for Harvard era FinLo math under cut)
*Disclaimer: None of these characters are mine and I did not create this story, so everything I say may be completely incorrect. Any of this may be disproven in Breakaway, which I don't/won't have the ability to read. Most of this is based off cannon times and events within the Sweater Weather universe, but I have made clear where cannon ends and my assumptions begin. Again, these are not my characters and all credit goes to @lumosinlove, This is not making fun of, patronizing, or degrading the all around fantastic story they have created, and is simply pointing out things I have noticed.*
Now in Coast to Coast, I noticed some strange things that Finn says. He tells Logan he's been in love with him for eight years, right? And over the course of the story Logan mentions he's loved Finn for 7 at some point (that may actually be in Vaincre, if it is the math lines up so that's a testy point). And when they kissed in part V of Coast to Coast it said it had been four years since they last kissed. This threw me off, because I knew this was, what, early January of 2020 in universe.
So I did some digging. Finn is a year older than Logan, meaning when Logan came to Harvard in 2014 (codified in Coast to Coast part VII, the very start, includes sexy Batman during Logan's first Halloween party at Harvard), he would have been a Freshman while Finn was a Sophomore.
Now it isn't clear whether their first kiss in 2015 was when at the end of the 2014-2015 school year or the start of the 2015-2016 school year (though Logan doesn't have a car, so that lends a little more credibility to Logan still being a Freshman, but it kinda seems like Logan never has a car in general, even in Sweater Weather and Vaincre). I tend to think it's the start of the 2015-16 school year because that's when Finn met Hanna, and those sorts of things don't really carry over after being apart for the summer. Anyway, this means it would be Finn's Junior year.
Now their last kiss before Finn leaves is supposedly in May of 2016, which was part II in Coast to Coast, but that doesn't make sense because it is stated that they are only one year apart,
[I'm pretty sure at least. Later in Coast to Coast it mentions Finn's rookie year and it's said that it was only one (1) really bad year without Logan (same goes for Logan as a senior) before Logan is drafted to the Lions after he graduates. This means they're only one year apart, so the 2016 thing I believe to be wrong]
and if you do the math with Logan being a Freshman in the 2014-2015 school year, he would be a Junior when Finn is a Senior in the 2016-2017 school year (I have a whole timeline trust me on this, it'll be at the bottom). So theoretically their last kiss would have been in May of 2017.
Now their next kiss in in January of 2020. Based off of the very beginning of Sweater Weather, the time period of the fic is the 2019 NHL season, so starting in September, it would be January of 2020 when Remus and Sirius' photos got leaked, right before All-stars, which Logan was going on. The same day the photos are leaked, Finn and Logan kiss for the first time since May of 2017.
If you tally it up, it would be 2 years and 7 months since they had last kissed: Seven months left in 2017, plus all of 2018 and 2019 {Essentially (7+12+12)/12}. Notably, not four years.
[If we are going on the timeline where the last kiss is in 2016, it would be 3 years and 7 months, which would be much more reasonable to say four years; however, that timeline is a little jacked so.]
The other thing that threw me off is Finn saying he'd been in love with Logan for eight years, which I also believe to be wrong.
Finn says to Logan when they are officially getting together in part V of Coast to Coast that he'd loved Logan for eight years, which doesn't make sense if they only just met in August of 2014.
To put it simply, they wouldn't have known each other for eight years. Again, if you tally it up, that's five months in 2014, five years, and then about half a month in 2020. {Essentially (5 + 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 + 1/2) / 12}. Let's just say they've known each other for 5 years and 6 months. Again, not eight years.
There is the concern of not loving each other when they first met, but Finn does say that he had loved Logan since the moment he saw him at the training camps in 2014, which would have been when they first met, so we can disregard any buffer time.
[And I am about 90% sure that August of 2014 was when they first met because during the Halloween party scene in part VII of Coast to Coast Logan talks about how Finn is his "new roommate" and they'd only just met. I could be wrong.]
And about Logan saying he'd loved Finn for seven years, I don't remember if it is in Coast to Coast which ends in 2020 or in Vaincre which goes until summer of 2021. If it is in Vaincre, this is a totally moot point because it's correct for about 7 years, but if it's in Coast to Coast (thinking on it now it may even be in Sweater Weather, either one would be off), then it wouldn't have been 7 years, but anywhere between 5-6 years. I would need to go back and find the part.
Other Interesting Math Things I figured out while Hyper fixating:
Alex O'Hara:
In Vaincre it says that Alex had to come from somewhere other than Harvard to see Finn in the hospital after he had gotten his first concussion, meaning he wasn't attending Harvard at the time. Vaincre also introduces a whole gang of people who were all on the Harvard team at the same time, which included Alex and Logan. So there had to be at least one year where they were on it together, and I assume it's probably Logan's freshman year.
When Finn's concussion happens is never explicitly stated, but I am assuming it's Finn's Junior year based on Finn and Logan's relationship at the time (pinning and extremely reserved while not awaiting Finn leaving (all this is coming from Logan talking about the concussion in Vaincre)).
With all this to say, I can assume Alex was a Senior in the 2014-2015 school year, left to join Florida's team in 2015-2016 and met Kasey down there in their rookie year. (Obviously they proceeded to fall in love as all good O'Hara's do: fall in love with their best friend.)
Leo Knut:
*open's mouth* *closes mouth* *opens mouth again* *looks down at the ground* Leo was in 8th grade when Finn and Logan met.
Leo was 18 at the start of Sweater Weather (2019) with a birthday somewhere in Nov-Dec, so theoretically he would have been a Senior in High School the year before. If you just tick back the years, that would put him in 8th grade during the 2014-2015 school year.
Not anything important I just stumbled across it and thought it was worth sharing, may as well make this post longer.
All in All List of Math:
Logan and Finn's last kiss before Finn left for Gryffindor would have been in May of 2017 not 2016
Their next kiss would be 2 years and 7 months later, not 4 years later
Finn and Logan have been in love since they met in August of 2014, meaning they've been in love for 5 years and 6 months, not eight years.
Alex O'Hara shared his Senior year at Harvard with Logan during Logan's Freshman year
Leo Knut was in 8th grade when Finn and Logan met

so i just saw ur fcs for the marauders and istg i got SO excited abt finally seeing another fan who hcs the black brothers as korean 😭 (i hc them as french-korean bcz them knowing french is still important to me but same thing imo)
and i js wanna say that OBV my sirius fc is hyunjin but our regulus fcs are different. yours is beomgyu, which i definitely see and i think i might make him mine too. BUT my og reg fc is niki from enhypen (esp during his long black hair era) and it also works bcz hyunjin and niki are said to look alike yk.
my ults are txt and enhypen too so that's that. and shinyu from tws is a rookie and he legit looks exactly like hyunjin 😭 so he's also a fc of mine i'd say
so that being said: how do u feel abt niki being regulus? also then who would be narcissa?
and niki's older sister konon actually looks like him in a wig, so for trans reggie i just imagine konon and then niki
sorry for the rant but i'm just insanely excited abt this 😭🙏🏻
OMG HELLOOo i haven't heard much about enhypen after drunk-dazed im not gonna lie, and niki has never actually crossed my mind bc i just remember him blonde KEJDKDNS but i kinda see it after checking pinterest for a bit. and for narcissa i know the actress/model jung hoyeon (the girl from squid game) looks like niki but i think she doesn't really do blonde hair :3
(still ngl, beomgyu will always be my reggie, i feel like i birthed him)

F1 teams but its the marauders:
Ferrari: James and Sirius obviously. Pretty much on equal ground, no number 1 driver, bromance of the grid. But James has won the last few years and Sirius is getting antsy.
Red Bull: Barty andd Dorcas. They’ve got empires to topple. I think Barty would be the number 1.
Mclaren: Frank and Marlene. Frank is Jenson Button. He’s coasting here until he retires. He’s mentoring Marlene (badly).
Mercedes: Andromeda anddd Remus. Andy won her championships a while ago but still could win another. Honestly I don’t think Remus would drive but if he did it would be for Merc.
Aston: Rita and Bellatrix. Bella won the championship agesss ago and refuses to retire. Rita’s dad owns the team. They have a weird amount of tension.
Toro Rosso: Peter and Regulus. Redbull rookies, will be put through hell. Watch out!
Alpine: Evan and Mary. God they hate each other.
Williams: Lily and Pandora. Lily is driving her ass off, everyone knows she deserves a better car but for some reason she’s committed to team. Pandora isn’t even trying. (This is not a comment on Logie bear.) They’re besties.
Sauber: no one cares
Haas: Sybil and Alice. MILF F1 team. Alice gets into the points and Sybil starts driving like shes possessed. She will get banned by the end of the season but at least Alice has points.
