What are your opinions on kov grian

hmmmmmmm, hmmm....... So i haven't seen KOV in full, and don't plan to, but i have seen clips, even the infamous ones, so everything i say can be taken with a grain of salt.

My opinion on kov Grian... is............... he is devastating !!! of course !!!! I don't even know how this character even came into existence, like is sam, taurtis, or grian, fans of Berserk /s? bc KOV Grian is pretty inline for the ~Berserk Character Experience imo, i mean.. the... rat... ? hello..?

But... i also think.... He is genuinely the only well written/played character in that series. When awful things happen to him, it effects him for the rest of the series, Grian doesn't ever seemingly play it for laughs.

Starting out as a character that wanted to be helpful, to a character that kills innocent people out of his own anger and grief, is interesting. He won't allow anyone to ever hurt him again, he'll never let them get close. This, doesn't heal him, he doesn't feel better, but it does not matter. He's lost everything. Theres a sort of peace in that, but in the same way an empty house is, theres nothing, theres nothing.

It makes me sad no one takes him seriously, it wouldn't have saved the series, but i think handling serious subjects better could've helped it with its aging. The lack of seriousness also ruins the story imo, like why are you laughing and making jokes while your friend is tormented--multiple times, what story is this ? Bad writing. You can barely claim it as improve but thats still bad improve, or just friends having fun, but the series IS scripted, sam forgot to edit out multiple parts where they do retakes in puzzles, so it makes me wonder the thought process...

Also... His cubito is so cute. its a shame.

(I've mentioned kov Grian a few times in reference to my (saint) Xelqua lore, since Xelqua can basically meet any version of Grian he wants. He meets kov Grian, but only after the damage is done, so he gives him a new staff, new clothes, and follows along behind the scenes, watching.)

so. so fukuchi implicitly believes fukuzawa incorruptible or at the very least the one he trusts in most, by agreeing that dictatorships are poisonous and yet still entrusting him with one order. but the intro to fukuzawa’s backstory we get is that he ultimately was changed by the nature of the assassinations he undertook; that he quit because he was starting to enjoy the killing. the ability to remain impartial and resist corruption of being is tied to the ability to step back from power. to step down when you’re ahead. but fukuzawa can no longer do that can he.

If we are going to Pumat's next episode all I ask is that Pumat recognize Essek's disguise or pop on a lens that allows him to see through it and spends the rest of the time heavily winking and nodding that he's playing along that Essek is not Essek

The thing about both Ioun and Selena is like. I get it. I really do. So much of our scientific knowledge - medical especially - comes from knowledge we gained in blood, and a lot of it was the blood of people who did not volunteer nor consent (nor were given opportunity to consent). What protections we have now are all recent, in many cases insufficient, and themselves subject to debate. Knowledge we lack and the safety and wellbeing of many people in the future often rest on the safety of a few people in the present; knowledge we have and the safety and wellbeing of many people in the present often comes from sources we should have never had access to.

You do want to have that information. You do not ever want to have to get it, and there's no good way to decide who should have access to it, but someone has to. There is absolutely no good answer at any stage of the process, and a goddess of knowledge and an archmage desperately trying to save her life's work both have to make a decision knowing none will be a good one.

Not to sound like an Orion Acaba apologist, because he did do some legitimately bad things, but like, why are there so many videos about his behavior on critical role?

Out of everything we know he did, plus what was alleged, being a bad DnD player while going through cancer and drug addiction is really not that big a deal. And remember, the actual cast of critical role, the people actually hurt by his behavior, his friends, they've let this go. He wasn't even kicked out, he left.

I don't understand this obsession with dissecting his shitty but mostly harmless actions during a really low period of his life.

These videos aren't even about the actual bad shit he did. He raised money for charity and then kept it instead of donating. A former partner has alleged he was abusive. This pales in comparison to being a problem player.

And even if people were discussing those actual bad things, what good would it do?

It's been a decade. The man is barely a public figure anymore. His behaviour cost him his spot in a multi million dollar enterprise.

Let this thing rest.

Percy de Rolo + 1 and 26 for the character ask game

1) ‘what do I like about them’ I like that he is slightly deranged, it’s what drew me to him when I watched episode three. But from that, I like the depths of despair Percy faces and how he still lives. The guilt will haunt him, and he still lives. He does get better, improves, and the past lingers but he moved forward. And it was partly done by Vex and his friends dragging Percy through it, and mostly himself, he fixed himself. It’s a very satisfying arc

26) what’s something I always think about from them? Good/bad/memorable

Ummm. It’s actually hard to think. I think about how Percy reacted to the Love Potion prank a lot, and the implication that Percy just fully believes that Scanlan was in love with him for a period of time, and is never told the truth, makes me laugh.

I love Percy giving Grog the evil sword. Deranged in results, even if not in intention, just shortsighted and that’s very Percy.

I also think about the ‘Sunken Tomb’ moment a lot. It is often discussed that Percy was reckless and the watsonian analysis to justify the actions Percy took, but at the end of the day it just feels like a mistake Tal made as a player, and Percy didn’t, so it never really sold me on a large part of the campaign’s story hinging on it. And that’s part of DnD and how DnD delivers storytelling and that’s part of the genre. But I do prefer the TLOVM version narratively just cos we actually get to see the reasonings why Percy acted like that on screen and it’s more compelling than the think pieces on tumblr.

The contrast between the presence of the Periphery in Candela Chapter 1 (a genuine obstacle to be navigated, occasionally a threat to the circle) versus Chapter 2 (occasionally mentioned but virtually never prioritized or considered) is so funny.

If you want to make that question worse, what if Romanced!Anders Hawke.

For extra angst, I'll just remind you of that fade quest where it's canon that Justice takes control in the fade, and HE'S the one who decides who stays.

Omg so there's definitely good angst potential here. Although I think it does depend too on who the other choice is (and I think one of the devs recently revealed that the original plan was to be HoF or Hawke, which would've actually been so much worse than what we got lmao) and also Anders' relationship with Hawke

(Like ngl if he and Hawke very much did not get along, I do feel like he'd be more willing to leave them in the fade skdsld, but maybe he wouldn't for old times sake)

Cause Anders, though a Warden, he doesn't know Alistair or Loghain, he never met them personally, so he has no connection to them like we do (although if the HoF romanced Alistair, that would probably make it harder for him). And Stroud, of course, is just some guy too, one he probably never even heard of before. So by that logic, like, even with just friend!Hawke, I think he'd still choose to save Hawke unless Hawke really insisted (Hawke could probably talk him into it but both parties make the argument that they should stay iirc so)

Because this assumes Hawke didn't kill him in DA2, which means that they are the reason he's alive now, and this is at the very least paying them back (and this is true even if they didn't get along). And also he's choosing his friend over just some person, not to mention that wardens basically exist to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. And Anders knows that better than someone who isn't a warden - in death, sacrifice, after all. It's more fitting for the warden to take the risk imo, and I think he'd see it similarly

The only exception I think would specifically be romanced!Alistair, where I think he'd definitely choose to leave specifically a rival!Hawke, because the HoF saved Anders' life as well, in his mind, and thus he wouldn't want to do that to them. Romanced!Alistair vs friend!Hawke is like. That's the worst case scenario for Anders ngl but I still lean towards him picking Hawke, like. Personal connection, plus he's going to have to justify this to Varric later, plus again the point of wardens basically being to sacrifice themselves for others

And for a romance, ngl, I don't think he'd be willing to lose them. I think he'd rather stay behind himself than lose Hawke, even if Hawke begged him to. Also in my headcanon, handers are pretty codependent after everything so lmao. I really can't see him doing it

But Justice making the call is... a really fascinating question tbh. And while I like to think that Justice does have at least some bond with Hawke in the romance (the extent of that bond being up to personal interpretation), I do think Justice would still want to do what's Most Just. And assuming he can't do it himself, cause that's not part of the choice, it does put Justice in a position where there is no right answer, something he would struggle with

With Loghain, I think it's a more obvious choice because Loghain being a warden at all is basically an atonement thing and this is just the natural extension of that. Justice would definitely choose him for that alone

But when it comes to Alistair/Stroud vs Hawke it's like. It might depend on how Justice feels about them? Alistair is another hero of the fifth blight, so he's a Just Guy, as far as Justice would know. Stroud is a warden, which Justice probably thinks is a noble profession given awakening, so he should be considered a Just Guy as well

For Hawke, I think this is where the relationship comes in. A friendly or friendmanced Hawke would presumably be considered a Just Guy (gender neutral) as well, as the friendship route typically is supportive of mages and other things. But a rival Hawke, even a rivalmanced Hawke... I could see Justice not liking them, thinking they are unjust as they support oppression in his mind. So I could actually see Justice leaving a rival!Hawke (romanced or not) as that could, in Justice's mind, act as a sacrificial atonement/punishment for everything they did in Kirkwall - to mages, to Anders, and even arguably to Justice at times

(I don't talk much about the rivalmance cause it's very much not the way I play or imagine them lmao but the idea of this happening and Anders like. Recovering from that relationship afterwards... there's potential for something interesting there ngl)

As for friend/friendmanced Hawke, that's where I think it would be more difficult but I do lean to Justice choosing to leave whichever warden it is in the fade because, again, wardens kind of sign up for this shit. Their job is basically to sacrifice their own life (either literally or in terms of the reduced life span), so it would be unjust to sacrifice Hawke, who didn't sign up for that, as compared to someone who's a) not going to live as long anyway and b) chose that specifically in order to save lives. Like, it's arguably that warden fulfilling their purpose, a thing we know is important to spirits

So yeah. Ultimately I give this a happy ending in most cases lmao (and maybe I'm biased, never-left-Hawke-in-the-fade person that I am XD), but it's a really interesting question! Especially with Justice in the mix cause you're right, it would most likely be his call, which adds an entire other layer to it
