A Reunion of Sorts

Well, well, well. It seems the universe has a funny way of throwing curveballs, doesn't it? After all this time, finding Art alive and well was a bit of a shocker. Rogue thought he was gone, vanished into the ether. But there he was, standing right in front of us, as if he'd never left.

Seeing Rogue's face light up at the sight of Art was something else. You could feel the weight of their shared history, the adventures they'd had, and the bond they'd forged. It was like watching a piece of Rogue's past come alive again.

As for me? Well, I've always believed in the unexpected. Art's return has added a new dynamic to our little crew. Rogue, Ruby, Belinda, and now Art -- it's like a family reunion, but with more time travel and fewer awkward silences.

And as for the relationship dynamics? Let's just say that the lines between companion and friend have always been a bit wibbly-wobbly for me. Having Art back in the fold? It's just another chapter in our ever-evolving story.

So, here's to reunions, revelations, and the unpredictable nature of time and space. Who knows what the next adventure will bring?

P.S. Rogue, if you're reading this, I hope you're not planning any more surprise reunions. My hearts can't handle the excitement.

initial spoilery reflections on the Rogue novelisation; this is mostly scattered because my brain is still woolly with lack of sleep and the spike-and-drop of too much new stuff coming in for processing

SPOILERS under the cut:

missing pieces: these are so helpful! I'd been banging my head against bits of the scene in the TARDIS (why is the Doctor now in charge of the triform? is there some missing bit of negotiation/agreement about this that we just haven't seen? HOW DID YOU GET TO BE HERE? WHAT WAS THE MOMENT? ) and also the final showdown (how do the other two parts of the transport gate get into position?), and now I don't have to. there are explanations, they got left on the cutting-room floor, it happens.

fun extras: the lake scene, and yes, I can quite see how that is not happening on top of the strain of prolonged night shoots, never mind the other potential complications

cut lines that crop up elsewhere (e.g. the one from the Kate Herron interview in Collider about R's reaction to seeing all the Doctor's selves)

excellent 18th-century fiction nerd joke that made me cackle very happily

would you like a complicated winter to go with that hot summer, Mr H?

ART!

lots to work with/play with in the backstory, an ending that manages to be satisfying and still leaves enough room for fic to happen

for now*, an absolute commitment by the writers to who and what Rogue is, and to a queer romance with the Doctor that really is what it seems to be

still intrigued by the Yossarian as the name of Rogue's ship, and not sure what that signifies
