IT’S BOOK RELEASE DAY!!

My new-adventures book for the fifteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday is now officially out in shops! You can buy it most places that sell books! I’m both excited and terrified. This is my first fully-published novel, and my first time writing long form prose for an IP. I’m still so pumped to have been asked.

If you like themes of family and identity, unexplored historical settings, a real-life battle on a vast frozen lake, and eldritch horrors from beyond the stars (with a tiny bit of actual horror thrown in there too, because it’s me), consider picking up Ruby Red!

(And did I mention Millie Gibson reads the audio book??? Ahhhhh!)

What is this?

"This" is just a bunch of nerds making properly formatted EPUBs (convertible into other file types (e.g. MOBI, AZW3)) of Doctor Who books! It was started because @blazing-dynamo wanted to read properly formatted Eighth Doctor Adventures, however has expanded.

Currently the main focuses are Eighth Doctor Adventures, New Series Adventures, and Virgin New Adventures.

Hello fellow Ten/Donna peeps. As I know our people are starving, I have come to offer some crumbs from the novel "Shining Darkness" by Mark Michalowski.

1: (twinkly glare is such a good description of her oh my goodness)

2: The Doctor wishing (his) Ginger Goddess was there to protect him (he is definitely the damsel in this relationship)

3: Donna just loving herself because wholesome (and she's right on all counts. Queen.)

4: Donna THROWING HERSELF into his arms and burying her head in his chest. And then punching him. (And him obviously enjoying the hug, which makes him smile despite being sad in this scene)

5: Donna thinking about her and the Doctor just missing each other in a way that sounds a lot like they are a married couple (they are)

6: This needs no explanation (actually it does. The man has a crush.)

7: This never specifies that she took her head off his shoulder. For all we know she put her head on his shoulder and inhaled deeply and had a heartfelt conversation with him and. I'm so normal about them.

Okay that's all bye.

Rogue novelization spoilers below!! Beware!!

Aaaaaaaaaaaa fndjfndjdjddnsnfjjejxenfjzjfnsjdjdfjdjdndkdnd.

If they don't bring Rogue back in season 2, I am torching the BBC with RTD inside it very politely telling them to bring him back.

Plus, the "You're beautiful" 😆😆😆I will EAT whoever the hell decided to cut that line.

And, lastly, I thought in the episode the Doctor and Rogue already seemed as much into each other as humanly possible; but the book? Goodness gracious me.

You all already know I won't shut up about this in a million years, right?

if we’re going as meta as mr cowan is clearly asking us to go while engaging with his text… what does a ‘dictionary contributor’ actually do? they ‘add to the lore’ and, by doing so, seem to make tweaks and amendments to the history of the universe itself. they alter the fabric, a stitch unraveled here and there.

take a fictional universe, one very particular fictional universe even. a ‘head dictionary contributor’, then, becomes a showrunner/head writer. ‘assistant dictionary contributors’ can be read as being the authors of individual episodes or EU content

remember the law? the current showrunner is always the worst, always the most hated.

during moffat’s era you would hear endless tirades about how he can’t write nuanced character dynamics (a shameless lie) or his writing’s too convoluted (not untrue, but not a negative either). then chibbers came along and he was treated like the spawn of the devil who ruined the show (somewhat fairly, that aside). everybody expected rtd2 to be the cure-all end-all be-all, but now, according to most of the fandom that populates twitter, the star beast was the worst of the worst and “chibnall wasn’t that bad actually”. and now most people think moffat was the best writer to ever grace the new era of the show with his presence…

the cycle goes on. the old Head Dictionary Contributor gets metaphorically torn to shreds and replaced, the new Head Dictionary Contributor builds upon the old lore and redacts and rewrites and erases and constructs a new mythology. his contributions get added to the ever-changing, ever-growing annals of history — known to some as TARDIS.wiki . a brand new starry-eyed Caretaker knocks on the door of the Internal Reference Room, starts scribbling in the book. it’s been laying on that wooden desk for sixty years, or six billion.

the Assistant Dictionary Contributors keep assembling our Tower of Babel. it’ll never crumble if we’re not constructing it with the intention of toppling the Gods themselves, right? and what’s a little hubris between friends?

peak postmodernism. this is what happens when a media universe becomes so large and expansive that it gains a will of its own. Borges would love Doctor Who. Mark Z. Danielewski too, maybe. don’t tell them. well, one of them’s dead. not like that matters in the grand scheme of things :)
