Rogue novelization spoilers below!! Beware!!
Tumblr media
I mean. I just.
Aaaaaaaaaaaa fndjfndjdjddnsnfjjejxenfjzjfnsjdjdfjdjdndkdnd.
If they don't bring Rogue back in season 2, I am torching the BBC with RTD inside it very politely telling them to bring him back.
Plus, the "You're beautiful" 😆😆😆I will EAT whoever the hell decided to cut that line.
And, lastly, I thought in the episode the Doctor and Rogue already seemed as much into each other as humanly possible; but the book? Goodness gracious me.
You all already know I won't shut up about this in a million years, right?
Right.

Just read the Rogue novelisation. Now I've got a canon divergent fic idea that I probably won't write because I'm lazy and long fics in english scare me. I've got the idea though.

Cassian being numb to his own emotions my BELOVED. Barely five chapters into the novelization and his internal monlogue is already "where is jyn is jyn safe WAIT she already did her part of the job i don't need to worry about her why am i worried about her WHERE IS JYN" i can't get over him

Cassian taught Jyn about hope but Jyn taught Cassian about faith and I think that’s special.
He tells Chirrut “im beginning to think the force and I have different priorities” while simultaneously telling Jyn “rebellions are built off hope”. Cassian, who’s lost in his own darkness of the rebellion, knowing he’s committed awful acts in the name of good hoping it will be atoned. In a way looking to Jyn for consolation after everything it still needs to be worth it in the end right? He hopes it does but doesn’t truly have faith in the rebellion. Hope alone cannot fuel a rebellion. He had so much faith in her cause he betrayed the rebellion for it. Reading the novelization when he asked her “is anybody listening?” It is a stark contrast to Andors “nobody is listening”. In the end it didnt even matter that she said yes. He was at peace either way having trust that yes it was worth it. Faith is scary, a spies worst nightmare. You don’t have facts or support behind its logic yet Churrit trusts in the force so much it carried them right where they needed to be. Literal blind faith embodied.
Now we have Jyn, she who was raised off of extremism had little hope, so she gave it up, never looking up at the imperial flags reign. She was taught the only way to see change is to be that catalyst. So the idea of hoping for the empire to fall died a long time ago as the feat seemed impossible. It wasn’t until she remembered her father’s words “everything I do I do to protect you”. A father’s words you can always trust in as it’s something pure. Love is a pure idea, that’s the only reason why Saw let them through the doors. Cassian offered Jyn hope, he gave her some facts, volunteers, and resources she needed to demonstrate her faith. He showed her the future she deserves is possible as the groundwork he’s been doing his entire life (6 years old?). Like yes the rebellion can be messy but they made it this far right? They nearly abandoned their efforts if it wasn’t for Jyn repeating cassians words of “rebellions are built off hope”.
Jyn is exactly what Cassian needed as faith is what you need in the present moment where as hope gets you caught up in the future. He knows he won’t be there for the future battle. He doesn’t need to see the empire fall. Because of each other, they were both able to die in peace.

“she held back a laugh and looked at cassian. the man who’d betrayed her. the man who’d admitted his guilt and decided to fight for her. he saw her staring and looked at her quizzically. it wasn’t how betrayals were supposed to go.”

"He was almost out of time, and all he could think was: I'm sorry, everyone. Sorry for promising what I couldn't deliver. Sorry for not coming up with a better plan. He'd tried. That counted for something, didn't it?"
