Round 1 Stage 2 Poll 2
Feolinn, Wildemount: Feolinn is a Menagerie Coast town known for wine. It was the setting of a oneshot but has not been visited by main-campaign characters.
Heartmoor Hamlet, Marquet: The Heartmoor is a wetland jungle of the Oderan Wilds, which houses a hamlet by the same name. Bells Hells came to the hamlet in search of Roe Estani.

Critical Role, Campaign 3 Episode 45
Marisha's "ow" in the middle of her suggestion and then just carrying on like it didn't actually happen is so adorable ... and then Laura doing a PSA ... XD "You may be weird looking, but you're opposable, damn it!" This may actually have been one of the least painful ads Sam's ever brought us. He should let the girls take the lead more often.
Wow ... is it just me or does that D&D Beyond plug feel somewhat strained and rote? I wonder why ...
Will Friedel? OMG!!! HELLO BOYO!!!
Welcome back, Taliesin ... "What is WRONG with you people?" Yeah, he just found out about the "sex ruse" ...
Ashton's reply to the Imogen message ... and now she doesn't have a slot to answer back. XD Oh, higher level? Okay ...
Travis counting her sigh as one of the words in the count ... XD
FCG suggesting they put Tuldus in their chest cavity, and then Chetney's fine about the idea but only if they chop him up so he'll fit in the first place ... yeah ...
Can Pate handle this responsibility? Oh dear, he's chuckling, that can't be a good sign. Wow, is he actually a bit dense? Awww, Laudna's finding his telepathic communication so cute.
Now they have him hogtied and stashed ... off to the Seminary, then.
FCG's still a bit sensitive? That's worrying.
Bizarre game controller comment is most amusing.
Oh, he's in disguise? Or something? What? What is going on? Oh, glamour ... what happened to him, though? I feel like there's a story here. Orym: "Did you get a job?" Ashton: "Kinda."
Oh gods, did Ashton just give Chetney wood?
Okay, who's Violet? Is this a problem? Yes, sounds like it might be. Oh shit, did he just give the game away? Chetney: "You freelanced on the side?!" Cops? Fighting? KIDNAPPING?!!! Oh for fuck's sake, Ashton!
The Baneful Brood? Hmmmm ...
MOBSTERS?!!! Oh shit ... it keeps getting worse ... he kidnapped a KENKU?!!! Unconscious? Tied up? What? Oh gods ... THE FEDS?!!! FCG: "What's a Fed?"
Oh, so he's like a snitch now? And yet because of the glamour he can never actually call in that favour now. XD This whole thing is ludicrous snd hilarious.
PASTRIES!!! Nice! :3 THAT makes everything all right again.
Vitro Isham? Okay then ...
Ashton: "Only my dignity is covered in food."
Their recent adventure: the Cliff's Notes version.
Yiosian calzone.
Whoa, did Matt just have to SHUSH half the group? XD
Ashton: "It's only after a break that you realise how WEIRD this group is."
The Ruby Vanguard are pissing everybody off, apparently ... rumours abound, and even Ashton heard about them in the kitchens. Interesting ...
Liam: "A satyr, a god and a robot walk into a bar."
The professor is IN. A firbolg! Okay! :3 Oh boy, this guy is ALREADY a hoot. Wow, Matt is REALLY getting his teeth RIGHT INTO this accent, isn't he?
That whole messaging conversation was a MESS and I loved it. XD
He knows Imahara Joe! Nice!
"Student Laudna ..."
Yes, disarm him, smart ...
A Harmonious Aeormaton! A Peacekeeper? Cool ... The Care and The Culling ... oh, yes, that sounds nasty ...
Oh boy ... mechanical prostate test! XD
He is HOLDING FCG'S POWER CORE IN HIS HANDS!!! A failsafe? Ooooooh ...
CAN he access his OLD memories? Hmmmm ...
Yes, he IS a person. :3 And YES. He is not his memories, he is what he CHOOSES to be. This Prof Isham is a SMART DUDE!!! And really quite sweet, too, it would seem.
FCG: "How can we register to vote?"
FCG wants him to turn him into an Easy Bake Oven ... XD
Oh sweet fuck this conversation sbout things no human being should mention ... XD Once again they're getting derailed by dirty minds ...
Fearne's badgering pays off ...
The Omen Archive ... a comprehensive database of Ruidusborn ... oh yeah, Roe Estani! Yeah ...
So the Exaltants are becoming more frequent, then? And yes ... Thul again ... she really is starting to turn into a proper bad penny in this mess ...
The Reilora? The dust storm dreams? HOLY FUCK!!! Wait ... whoa ... so these are the people who live in the city on Ruidus! Wow ...
It's starting to sound like there might be some kind of conflict going on UP THERE as well as down here because of all this. That is, frankly, COMPLETELY FUCKING TERRIFYING.
Fancy trapdoor game is SWEET!!!
Ooooooooooooooh ... what is this ... OH SHIT!!! The missing text from Vasselheim!
Oh shit! Older creepy elf dude! That's so bad!
Matt: "And that's where we're gonna take a break!"
"No." Fearne: "No what?" Oooooh shiiiiit!
Wisdom saving throw already? Fuck! 26? Phew ... Nice one, Ashley!
Martinet Ludinus Da'leth. Whoo ... and he means BUSINESS, clearly. And RUDE too!
Holy fuck creepy magic mind control! That is HORRIBLE!!!
Fuck, and he totally recognises Imogen because of her mother ... that is so bad!
Get out of the room. Both of you get out of this room RIGHT NOW.
What's round his neck?
Liam dropping RIGHT DOWN in the chair like he REALLY doesn't wanna be here right now and I DO NOT blame him, this is unbearably tense ... Travis is just chewing on his nails like he's super nervous too ...
Fuck ... has this guy been tracking Imogen through the dreams all this time?
The others are silently signaling them to get out of there now and I am SO TOTALLY WITH THEM right now ...
This is a really clunky plug Sam is trying to pull to cover this latest whisper ...
Da'leth: "I think your mother would like to see you." Oh shit ...
Fearne: "What are you doing with those papers?" Da'leth: "I wouldn't want go spoil the surprise." Okay ... yeah, this guy is TOTALLY giving me HUMONGOUS supervillain vibes ...
Oh yeah, I think Prof Sumal is just GONE now ...
Fearne, do not rob the nice lady.
Ashton's story grows more fascinating, clearly we missed some fun ...
Oh, they're all on the ball now ... this is so bad ...
Yes! Eshteross' cookies! :3
Everybody needs to get back to Imogen snd Fearne NOW.
Eep ... those Crimson arseholes are back ...
Orym trying to Nice Guy husband way around Carolle ... and Ashton has the silver spoon from the kitchen. XD I don't even want to THINK about what Chetney's doing ...
Imogen, what are you doing? Call Ryn? Oh yes ... yes, that's a good idea, she might be able to help ...
Laudna's first concern is IS IMOGEN ALL RIGHT. That is completely perfect.
I love how Ashton can be SO SWEET sometimes, it's just adorable. He tries to be so hard but really he's such a softy.
Imogen messages Ryn ... "Well shit ..." Yeah, we're with you there, luv.
Matt: "What did you roll?" Laura: " I rolled very ... 8."
So Ryn CAN fix her ... that is a relief.
Laudna checks through Pate's eyes ... he's poking the guy, apparently.
Holy fuck the loss of those papers was SPECTACULARLY bad ...
The return of the Flat Earth ... XD
Fey Realm. Totally, Fey Realm. Ashton: "Let's go recruit a fucking grandma."
Pate explodes on the guy's shoulder before reconstituting (very messily) on Laudna's. Oh boy ...
The Harrowcall Fens ... Ligament Manor? Morri keeps getting more and more disquieting by the second.
Chetney reveals how much he's just been taking the piss as a so-called Planewalker. Ryn is unimpressed, but in an amused way. XD
Ryn: "Cuddle up! It's gonna be a ride!" FCG: "Hope I don't kill you all on the way."
And she sends them into the Feywild ...
A magical marshland ... swampy forest ... this is strangely familiar. Oooh, the toads ...
Laudna: "I still have that baggie of weird drugs." Orym: "Not right now."
Fearne says she knows EXACTLY where she is. Roll shit. She has NO IDEA.
Weird as plant tells them where to go ... of course it does ...
Fearne is ... DIFFERENT here. Oh boy ... she us like totally in the Uncanny Valley now here. Oh shit! Fearne's like the Spirit of the Forest in Princess Mononoke right now!
Chetney is completely freaking out right now and I DO NOT blame him.
Morri loves to entertain ... oh boy ...
Who's Doctor Nesbitt? Do I want to know?
Marisha: "Matt's being so creepy!" Matt (exasperated): "I'M LOOKING AT MY WIFE!!!"
Laudns introduces herself to the flowers ... oh boy ... she gets overzealous ... no, they like her ... fucking hell this is so bizarre ... oh shit, they REALLY like her ... oh boy, this is getting REALLY weird now ... oh no, has Laudna offended them now?
Oh gods, NOW what has she done? The trees are angered, it looks like ...
Imogen: "Tell me this us your grandmother, Fearne." Fearne: "It's just the trees."
FCG's SINGING to the trees now ... yeah, I didn't think that would work ...
Natural 1 ... oh boy ... Fearne is NOT getting anywhere here ...
DOES SHE have Speak With Plants? Rolling at disadvantage ... 26? That's at DISADVANTAGE?!!! Wow ...
They can get out if they SING, apparently ...
Oh boy, this is getting embarrassing ... yes, I agree with Matt, this is totally a DIN. They start singing: "Dying In Your Arms Tonight" ... Laura rolls a Nat 20 AND a Nat 1 ... wow ... but Ashley rolls SWEET too and saves the day.
They're free! Phew!
The flowers start screaming and WE start screaming ... oh, that was a GOOD THING? Fucking hell ...
Fearne can smell Morri's lanterns. Okay ...
Toucan Sam ... XD
Secret glade ... massive tree ... draping vines ... empty wooden cages ... decorative wreaths ... yeah, this place is, like, SO FUCKED UP ... kind of beautiful too, though ...
Morri invites them in ... Travis' face is PRICELESS. He is SO creeped out ... knitted dolls, bones, weird potted plants ... he's hating it even more and I love it ... XD
Okay ... Morri is BIG. And WEIRD. Giraffe neck extending out ... freaky ET face, but with sharp teeth ... oh my fucking gods ... it's a nightmare version of when Gertie dresses ET up in drag, isn't it?
Tiki Bar? A TIKI BAR?!!!
Matt: "And THAT'S where we're gonna call it a night!"
Oof ... so, NO Crit Role this week ... but IT IS the premiere of TLOVM season 2 so it's all cool!

The most realistic part of CR Campaign 3 so far is when the astronomer happily invites everyone over to use his backyard telescope but then it won’t focus and it won’t point right and just as he finally gets it on-target the sky clouds up.

I didn't think they were referencing the dream. I thought it was because Orym has to to do with the twins and the attack and Laudna was saying you are an empath and maybe are also picking up his emotions but make sure to take care of yourself.
oh yeah i think you're right!! imogen ofc still has plenty of reason to talk to estani, it just made me remember that the dream was not discussed w the rest of the party

The escalation from their “we’re a bunch of cool-as-cucumbers private investigators” initial vibe with Estani to “OmG LoOk WaTeR MaGiC” *shoves yarn-wrapped frog into fountain*
Like, that man has whiplash
He spilled all the beans only to realize an hour later that this is just an random band of roving chucklefucks
I guess it’s just lucky that he too harbors a curious spirit and a sense of wonder, I mean he is a researcher after all, and speaking as a researcher myself, if shove-a-frog-in-it ain’t the best analogy for this work

My Recap of CR Ruidus Lore (as of C3E30)
1. How Ruidus came to be.
In E29, Hondir says that "there was a time before Ruidus", apparently in some of the years after the Founding, the red moon was not in the sky. He also alludes to a possible relation to that and two Forgotten deities that no longer exist in the pantheon of Exandria.
In Call of the Netherdeep, they tell us a myth where, during the Founding, abhorrent magic was seeping into the Material Plane from another place, and that it threatened the life of Exandria's still very young inhabitants, until all of that dark energy was crystallized into Ruidus. No reason has been mentioned as to why, and apparently not even the Prime Deities knew where the magic came from, and they later agreed to make humanity believe it was a sign of ill omen and overall bad as a way to hide it's true power.
Now, they mention in COTN itself that it's just a myth told by the people of Tal'dorei and could not be true, but it fits so well with the time-line and the narrative I can't help but lean towards it.
Even the way Hondir mentioned how Ruidus could appear in two planes - after Orym asks him how could Ruidus be in this Exandria and also in the Feywild - alludes to him believing it has plane shifting abilities, or that it's origin lies elsewhere in the far realms. It's possible the flares are actually the moon shifting from wherever it goes back to the material plane, or that they're, for some reason, intentional. The moon, also, seems to obfuscate itself from being observed under magical means, which we'll discuss more later on, but it's also a sign that it might have innate magical abilities or that the people who live up there do.
Adding to that, when we met Roe Estani and looked into his telescope, he mentioned how the normal behaviour of Ruidus has been changing the last couple of decades, as it flares more often and more children are being born under it's light, which implies there is something changing up there, be it intentional or just a result of it's own nature, I'm still not sure.
2. The Apogee Solstice
Every 10-20 years, Exandria goes through an event called a Celestial Solstice. During these events, there are shifting in the leylines of Exandria, the barrier between realms grows thinner and amazing magical feats can happen. But every 100-120 years, an even more intense version of this event happens, and that event is called an Apogee Solstice. These do more or less the same as the Celestial ones, but even more so. For example, while a Celestial Solstice might shift some of the leylines a couple of miles from their original spots, Apogee Solstices are known to completely rewrite the network of magic running across Exandria.
During previous Apogee Solstices, elemental rifts burst open across Exandria, causing natural disasters, earthquakes, fires and a flood of elemental monsters invading this plane. A thousand years ago, there was a particularly powerful Solstice that created permanent rifts into the elemental planes, and that was when the Ashari was separated into four nations (Fire, Water, Earth and Air) and each was sent to care for one of the rifts, Zephrah being one of them.
This could be related as to why the Gray Assassins tried to get to Keyleth, if we were, back then, a little over 6 years from an Apogee Solstice happening, there's a chance the rift the Air Ashari have been looking over for the past millennium might change places, so it's possible Keyleth and her fellow druids were trying to determine where it would go or simply trying to prepare for a shift in Exandria's prime energy/any maleficent plots that could be brewed around it. After all, the Apogee Solstice is also known to be a time where power can be seized and used indiscriminately, seen as the far realms are much closer to the Material Plane, and it's magic can be taken advantage of, just like it was used by Errevon, the Rimelord and Vecna to spread destruction and death throughout Exandria.
Other amazing magical feat that happened during an Apogee Solstice was Alyxian's battle against The Ruiner that stopped the complete destruction of Marquet, and it's said that he then called upon the power of Ruidus, and his connection to it, to create the Netherdeep.
3. The Unseelie Court and the Grey Asssassins
We learned through Birdie that Ruidus did not show up in the Fey Realm before Fearne's birth (which either happened 6 or 14 years ago in Exandrian years, I'm not sure anymore). It's possible that Fearne could be the first Ruidusborn - or at least "special" ruidusborn, as Hondir calls it - to also be fey, and her connection to the moon made it appear in the realm where she was. I am still not sure about this connection, but what we do know is that Ruidus brought a lot of attention from the Unseelie.
According to Yu, whatever they were trying to do was supposed to "increase the boons of Ruidus upon the courts", which, in my opinion, sounds a lot like they were trying to drain it's power somehow, or take advantage of it, specially with the Apogee Solstice coming in a month.
To reach their objective, the court was working with Exandrians, or at least appeared to be, by account of Ollie and Birdie seeing Otohan and a "tall elven man wearing grayish-blues" (I'm not even gonna say anything except that I HOPE it's who we are all thinking). This, added to the fact that Imogen saw Otohan with the Gray Assassins in her dream - which apparently happens on Ruidus - links the Unseelie plans with both the Paragon's Call and the Assassins.
Now, we don't know much yet about Otohan except that they were a prominent figure in the Apex war before going missing for a while and then coming back and taking control of the Paragon's. Presumably, if they're in a leadership position amongst the Grey Assassins as well - like Imogen's dream seems to allude to - the years where they were missing could mean they were already dabbling into the Unseelie/the Feywild, this would specially be true if the "corrupted versions of my kind" Yu refers to when she gave Fearne the mirror are in fact the Grey Assassins.
We don't have enough information yet to form a clear picture of how this all went down, but my theory for the moment is that, sometime after the Apex War, Otohan might have found their way into the Feywild and gained the favor of the Unseelie Court. Seen as they're an incredible warrior of legendary prowess, it's likely the courts saw a value to having them at their side and agreed to work with Otohan for their interests, this could already have been related to Ruidus, or the relation could have come up later. Now Otohan seems to be working along with the Assassins to prevent Exandrian scientists (and more specifically the Grim Verity) from finding out more about Ruidus, either in an effort to prevent them from finding out about Unseelie Court's dabbling, to hide whatever information they've found on Ruidus' true nature, to keep the power of the red moon to themselves, or even all three of those options at once.
4. Is The Moon Evil? Or is it hiding something that is?
Now, a lot of this post is speculation, of course, as of right now we don't have enough information to understand what the city might be, how long it's been there or what are the inhabitants like, so any of this could be disproven in the next episodes, but even then, I would still like to share some straight up theories as to what it could all mean, just remember to take it with a grain of salt.
It seems most people are leaning towards the idea that Ruidusborn might be sleeper agents of some kind, a dormant army that is ready to be called upon and take Exandria at the right time. This could be true, and it would suggest that whatever relation Ruidus has to the two forgotten deities, they are possibly in charge of the city and/or the people there are devout to them and want to release them onto Exandria at the Apogee Solstice, possibly planning to take the planet for themselves with the help of the ruidusborn people. This could mean Otohan might not have been working with the Feywild to begin with, and could have already been dabbling with whatever people lives up there - which could mean the Grey Assassins are actually from Ruidus and whatever the ones Yu mentioned are another group entirely, but I personally think that it would be too much of a coincidence - and then they decided to align with the Unseelie Court's to bring these two gods back.
This could explain why they appear in the middle of the storm in Imogen's dream. But even assuming her dream happens on Ruidus (which I'm highly leaning towards), we have no way of knowing if it means they were there before or if they will be there in the future. Also, in the dream, Otohan appears to actually see Imogen, as if she's actually there, and not just a product of a vision/dream, and that leads me to believe that she was spying on Imogen and that their positioning within the storm might not mean as much in this situation.
But what if Ruidus isn't a prison, exactly, what if it's a seal? A gate or lock of some kind that is keeping whatever these two deities are from reaching the material plane? Maybe that is why Ira seemed so intrigued by Imogen when she said she saw "a God that can't get out". Maybe the civilization that formed up there is much like Zephrah, a city of powerful spellcasters watching over the rifts between planes, maybe Ruidus itself is like the Tree of Names Laerryn absolutely obliterated in EXU: Calamity, a pen of sorts, using it's movements across the sky to draw incantations that are meant to keep these deities locked away.
This could explain why even the Prime Deities themselves didn't want Exandrians to dabble into Ruidus, and also why it evades being magically observed. It seems to me like the people that live up there are not interested in being found, and that something like that happening could mean very bad things for Exandria, possibly the early release of two deities that have been erased from Exandria's pantheon, which doesn't bode well with the Unseelie's interest around it.
Now, it can't all be perfect up there, we know Ruidus' behaviour has been growing more erratic, and we can't be sure if that is being done purposefully, or if there is something going on, all we know is that the storms seem to be getting worse and there are more flares. Personally, I think there's the additional possibility that, much like Avalir, the inhabitants of this city might not be fully aware of the importance of Ruidus, maybe there are some who understand the gravity of releasing these deities and some who don't and are willing to dabble into the dark magic that makes Ruidus itself, putting it's integrity at risk.
It could be simultaneously true that the Gray Assassins and Otohan came from the moon - so there are maleficent figures there willing to take advantage of it's magic - and that the civilization itself/the purpose of Ruidus isn't malevolent, there's a possibility that it's actually striving to stop chaotic deities from reaching the material plane, and this all together would make a Calamity 2.0 very possible.
In the end, all I know is that, with the Apogee Solstice a month away, the unseelie court dabbling with Ruidus' power and the moon's overall weird behaviour, if I were a forgotten God locked away in another plane I'd be very excited for the coming month.
Wild Theory Time: Imogen is an alien
With finding out that there is a city up there, and possibly a whole civilization of people, I couldn't stop thinking about the possibility that Imogen actually came from up there. After everything I've already discussed, we know that the Apogee Solstice and Exandrian's knowledge of it as well as their general knowledge of Ruidus would probably be of interest to the moon people, so what if Imogen's mom came to Exandria from up there? Maybe to find out more about the Apogee Solstice, maybe to control the narrative in what the Grim Verity should know about Ruidus, maybe to learn more, herself, about the strange things happening on Ruidus, or maybe (and this is my favorite theory), she was running from something.
Many episodes ago, Chetney questioned Imogen about whether she had ever been in a storm like the one in her dreams before, and when she couldn't give him a sure answer, he commented how, if it had happened when she was very young, she might have buried it in her subconscious or simply forgot the details. It could be that Imogen was born on Ruidus, or that she was there at some point in her early childhood, and her dreams are a memory that was supposed to be long forgotten.
I don't know how that would work with her father being Exandrian, but it could be that Liliana had a relationship with him and then returned to Ruidus, where she had Imogen, or it could be that Imogen is not biologically her father's, or even that he is also from Ruidus/was there with her at some point. Either way, he could have kept his distance from Imogen because he didn't want her to be in whatever danger made Liliana flee.
If we take the theory of Liliana being in danger, maybe whatever has been messing with Ruidus' energy is related to her and Imogen's powers, after all, we know that Ruidus, though it appears red most of the time, does have purple hues to it.
This could mean that there is either a substance, gas or even magic up there that is purple, and that could be where Liliana and Imogen's powers originate from, after all, it would just be fitting to have telekinetic/lightning powers if you're from a place that storms constantly, right? So Liliana could be running either because her powers interest unsavory people, or simply because the conditions in Ruidus have become worse, which is why the storm seems scary and horrible in Imogen's dream, and it fits with it being all fucked up lately.
Hondir did say in E30 that other people have said to have the dream about the storm, that they feel attracted to it, and that they eventually come to the Verity to search for "where they're from", which could mean there are more people with unknown Ruidus ancestry, or some dormant relation to it's power that has been awakening for the last few years. With that being said, Imogen seems to be the only one who hears her mother's voice telling her to run from it, or Hondir simply didn't mention that relation, but it's very interesting that Liliana is such a prominent figure in her dreams, and I can't help but find her relation to Ruidus suspicious, after all, what is the chance both mother and daughter would be ruidusborn? Is it genetic? Why would she run and leave her daughter behind? Are powers like Liliana's and Imogen's common amongst Ruidusborn? It would not seem so, since Hondir didn't mention it, and since he seemed to have a very clear recollection of her powers, as if they were something very unique.
All that leads me to think that Imogen and Liliana were in danger in the storm, when Imogen was still young, and that her mother, at some point, told her to run from it. She then later left Imogen with her father, possibly hoping to protect her from the imminent threat, and continued to meet with the Grim Verity, seemingly trying to find a meaning to her powers and possibly what she's running from. It could even be that she's running from the Grey Assassins, the Unseelie or something related to them, which would explain how and why Otohan got into Imogen's dream.

So a byproduct of being obsessed with the Mighty Nein campaign is that I knew I had heard some things about the moons and laylines and the like. Anyway I’m going to start compiling some things I’ve noticed. Feel free to add your own:
“i continue to find an aberration in my data pertaining to exandria. a cyclical months long slow surge in low level magical interference that then recedes just as slowly. something that tangles my readings and upsets my analysis. it is too faint to identify the arcane nature or source but i worry if this pertains to the shifting between the veils. could be something very interesting.” —planewalker ryn from episode 129 M9 campaign.
<< This connects to campaign 3 where we learn that Roe Estani mentioned “the growing recurrence of Ruidus flares and curiosity regarding the abnormal record of Ruidusborn instilled further interest in funding into the study of Ruidus”
this funding connects to the next reference i found:
Demid Sunlash was interviewed by the M9 in 74 and 76. He believed Ruidus was a “pre-creation” or it had been created by the betrayer gods that was cut short with the calamity. Demid proceeded to go missing from Uthodurn saying his studies had shifted. His location is as of yet unknown.

Ooh more vignettes? Thanks for doing them!
How about: Orym finds/is with the person responsible for Will’s death and can’t do shit about it in that moment
Or if that’s too specific, how about the number #532 👀
Prompt #532 (gargoyle) didn't really spark anything, but your other request, well...
"So Close Yet So Far"
"All dressed in black-stained leather armor wearing dark gray clothing, dark cloth masks over their heads, showing no recognizable features. Similar in build, I could not tell the gender of the attackers, but they were all extremely skilled and incredibly fast."
Oshad Breshio's words echoed over and over in Orym's head as he sat in their barracks room at the Seat of Disdain in Bassuras. The rest of the Hells were talking about Treshi, about Ratanish, about what their next move should be, but Orym's thoughts were elsewhere.
"It was three-three attackers, dressed in black and gray, masks, cloaks."
Roe Estani's words also rang through his mind, recounting the night of the attack on the Lumas twins.
"I see a woman and behind her, there's so many people, and they step out from behind her, more and more and more."
Imogen's voice, remembered from within Hondir's hideout.
And that woman... with grey hair to one side... a red cloak... intense, powerful eyes...
Orym's eyes were drawn toward the closed door of their room.
Otohan Thull... the leader of the Paragon's Call.
His hands were imperceptibly trembling as he threaded his fingers together, clasped together so tightly that they began to turn white from the pressure.
She's here... in Bassuras... maybe even in this fortress right now...
His lips pulled back from his teeth in the faintest of snarls as he stared at the door.
Was she the one... did she send the Grey Assassins...
Orym's entire body tensed, poised to rise from his seat on his cot.
Is she the one who took Will away from me?
A hand on his arm suddenly pulled him from his thoughts, and he turned, eyes wide, to see Ashton looking at him in concern, while Imogen, Chetney, and the others continue to plot and plan and squabble amongst themselves.
"You okay?" Ashton lowered his voice and leaned slightly closer. "Because I know that look... that's rage right there. No... rage isn't the right word." He frowned and thought for a moment, then murmured, "No, it's... wrath." Ashton glanced down and his eyes widened slightly. Orym followed his glance and realized that his fingers had turned completely white. He slowly relaxed his hands and flexed his fingers.
"Listen, Orym... I'm not gonna ask right now because there's too many ears. But... if you need to talk to someone... someone who understands wrath... I'm here. Okay?"
Very slowly, Orym nodded, but he didn't trust himself to speak.
"And also... when it comes time for that wrath... I'm right there with you."
Orym's eyes lifted to meet Ashton's, and an unspoken agreement was made. He and Ashton quietly clasped hands, just as he had clasped hands with Breshio, and just as he had then, he vowed anew to see this through to the end.
Breshio brings the Anger... Ashton, the rage... and yes... I will bring wrath.
