batman '66 #7
[ID: Batman and Robin peering down into an empty grave. They're shown in a low angle view. Batman is standing with his foot on the edge of the grave as he looks down as Robin is squatting with his knees drawn up and spread. He has his fist in his hand and shouts, “Holy graverobber!” END ID]

Regarding the "Did they change the rules when I was away?" comic panel, it's from a oneshot called "When is a Door?" written in 1989, when the Riddler was well-known but not exactly popular - I'm not a comics historian, but I believe his appearances had been pretty sporadic. It's a sad piece, in which he namedrops Marsha Queen of Diamonds and King Tut, both villains invented for the '66 show. "They were the straight men, but we were the stars." The idea is that it's a sort of mourning and memorial for the silver age from it's (then) last remaining embodiment, as by 1989 we were firmly in the bronze and approaching the dark age. Riddler had killed people by now, yes, but not *this* Riddler; this Riddler is less Edward Nygma and more Frank Gorshin, a personified silver age sci-fi joy baffled by dead Robins and complex characterization. So yes, people reposting one panel out of context is HORRIFICALLY missing the point, but it's a really lovely little piece and I'd recommend hunting it down.
I agree with what you're saying, love, I just don't think this ask was supposed to be sent to me 😂 I have no idea what the context for this is! I'm aware of the specific panel that you're referring to but I think you have me confused for someone else who may have been posting about that comic/panel xx

In light of what @brown-little-robin pointed out yesterday: Thad uses quotes a lot.
Just look at all this. (And I may not have even caught them all.) He's literally introduced using them. The first panel below is his very first appearance and line.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Impulse #50, 52, 53, 63, 65, 66)
Frequently they're when he's sarcastically quoting someone, which he does often--he's been raised to disdain most other people.
But then there are some other cases:
"family"
"Grandma"
"father"
"born"
"twins"
"gengineered"
"friends"
"home"
Notice a common thread? They're all reflections on the peculiar circumstances of his creation and upbringing. He was developed through means so unnatural his creator had to make up a word to describe it. He wasn't really born. The man who created him is not really his father. Iris is technically his grandma, but he refuses to accept the relationship (and so does she, apparently). Bart and he are not really twins. He has no family, no friends, no home. Just a mockery of all these things.
And he knows it, and he wants others to know it, and he is so, so (understandably) bitter about it.

The talk about Bruce’s relationship with the Family, and his abusive parental style, made me think of this specific issue in King’s Knightmares (Batman #61-63, #66-69) -- so I need to exorcise the thoughts before it starts bugging me. The arc is part of an ongoing effort to break Batman’s mind, orchestrated by Bane and none other than his father from an alternate Universe, Flashpoint Batman (who... well it’s just interesting to see that a Batman version of Bruce’s father is also not getting any ‘Best Dad ever’ mugs for his birthday any time soon). Bruce is strapped to a machine and pumped full of Scarecrow’s gas, having a series of hallucinations; each of them is centred around a different issue/important person he’s been grappling with.
The issue I mean is #62. In it, Bruce dreams that he’s restrained by a rope and hanging upside down, bleeding and bleeding, while Professor Pyg is standing there with a knife waiting to slaughter him. The comic is drawn in very bright colors, in a style that’s clearly supposed to evoke a psychedelic feeling and experience. From the start, we are more or less told of the key players (or symbols) of the dream: blood, a man in a mask, rope, a knife. All of these elements undergo change and impact each other, one way or another.
But the most important thing about this dream is that it’s clearly supposed to symbolically reflect the way Bruce relates to the Robins -- and more precisely, it reflects what he fears from them. The key to understanding this mess is keeping in mind who Professor Pyg actually is under the mask (Damian, his son), and who he represents.
What follows under the cut are lots of comic panels and wild extrapolation and interpretation on my part, since overthinking is my hobby. Fair warning, there’s lots of blood involved.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s already a lot to unpack, at the beginning. “The rope was talking, now it’s yelling. Understand, sympathize, thank it for its help. And cut. And cut.”
It’s an interesting contrast, the fact that the rope -- what’s keeping Bruce restrained -- is the one with a voice. Meanwhile, the “enemy”, the man in a mask (who, again, is actually Damian underneath) keeps talking and shouting, but Bruce cannot hear anything at all.
Tumblr media
“They all want the same thing. Year after year they beg for it. And you can’t give it to them.”
What, Bruce? Love? Approval? That’s very likely it, and in light of this, I think the ropes in the beginning signify Bruce’s own emotions. What he always sees as an obstacle and something that binds him. They yell and they beg, but all Bruce really does is acknowledge them as he cuts them anyway. He escapes in order to attack Professor Pyg, whose voice Bruce still cannot hear.
“You should have heard him... listened... There’s a knife in you now.” Here an exchange of elements takes place. Bruce sheds the rope, and gains the knife. As the story progresses, Bruce tries to pull out the knife and survive, using the pain to ground himself. All along, he can’t hear a word of what his assailant is saying. But the inner dialogue begins to suggest (like on the cover of the issue itself) that what Professor Pyg is saying is “Little pig, little pig. Let me in.”
And Bruce does this:
Tumblr media
He turns the knife on his enemy, but not for long. Bruce tries to interrogate him by inflicting pain, and has to remind himself not to kill him. All the while, Professor Pyg manages to pick the knife back up from the floor.
Tumblr media
At this point, Professor Pyg begins to rant again, with Bruce not hearing any of it -- but all the while, his memories are coming back. He remembers being attacked by Bane, and by his own father. Slowly begins to realize that this is all a dream, that they’ve done something to him. He begins to fight Pyg with batarangs and then asks himself, “What is Pyg? A metaphor. A myth. A story. A dream.”
And here come the crucial elements to interpreting it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Your children aren’t safe. They’re dying. You love them, you created them, created their love, and they’re not safe.”
The “she” in there is Selina, of course. Since all of this takes place quite recently after Bruce proposed, and after she left him at the altar, a lot of the whole arc of Knightmares is Bruce dealing with that. There’s definitely an amalgamation in Bruce’s head, when it comes to his attachments: Selina, Alfred, Dick -- his children, all of it is love, and all of it is something he thinks he built. To Bruce, it’s all dead marble that he shaped and sculpted into being his ideal. It’s something he desperately wanted but couldn’t muster on his own, so he prayed to make it come to pass.
In the end, he desperately asks Professor Pyg, “How did I get here? How do I get out?” And for the first time... he can hear the answer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then Damian leaves. The dream ends. Nothing is truly resolved, because Bruce has a couple more hallucinations before he manages to break out of it. The idea that Bruce built his love is the point his mind is trying to make through them, and the moment he gets confronted with that by Selina in issue #69 -- with the fact he didn’t truly love her, but that he wanted to (”I have to love you,” he says) -- he finally comes out of the dreams.
But in this issue... it’s just interesting to me that his Family, his children, Damian (possibly as a stand-in for all the Robins) are included in this too. What textually happens in the dream is Professor Pyg simply having Bruce tied up and talking while holding a knife, with Bruce attacking him twice -- and Pyg only stabbing and defending himself the moment he does.
There’s a continuous exchange happening. The rope never comes up again: Bruce thanks it for its service, but sheds the hold of his emotions. What’s left is the blood and the knife. The knife is the power love affords you over another. Blood represents all the things you lose when the knife sinks into you; it’s weakness. And it keeps switching. Bruce is overcome with blood and then gains the knife, and uses it to hurt a person he cares about. But then Damian gains the knife and all Bruce is left with is the blood. And all along, while Bruce is attacking, Damian is reaching out but Bruce can’t hear it. And what he’s saying is, “Let me in.” Bruce only hears it when he stops fighting and uses his damn words to ask.
I do believe Damian here is not just Damian. From the start, Professor Pyg is drawn in colors reminiscent of the Robin uniform, so I do think this applies more generally to all who’ve been Robin to Bruce. Always begging to be let in, and Bruce not being capable of it, because he inherently sees that as a threat; the edge of a knife, weakness. Always trying to talk to Bruce, but Bruce not hearing them.
The issue also pretty much says that Bruce thinks he made them, like Pygmalion made the object of his love. That he chose them to be Robins, and chose to love them, and made them love him. Not only that, but since this is all under the influence of fear gas, there’s also what Bruce sees as a threat... what he created slipping his control, and turning against him. The people who love him not getting their love returned in full, not being let inside, and thus Bruce finding himself under the sharp edge of the knife because he didn’t listen. And yet... the final nail in the coffin, I feel, is that the ending of the issue isn’t simply Damian leaving.
Tumblr media
It’s Damian asking to be let in, with the “I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down” another potential reference to how opening up to someone can make you weak. This is the answer to Bruce’s question; this is what he needs to do in order to wake up. Let himself be vulnerable. And then Damian waits, but Bruce just falls back into old patterns, the things he’s been saying to himself all along. “Evaluate. Reassess.” He doesn’t answer. And when Damian leaves, he doesn’t call out -- he just looks resigned.
The way Bruce is constantly torn between wanting love and his utterly monumental fear of it, which makes him crave control so badly and hurt so many people and in the end himself... it certainly makes me feel all kinds of ways. Some of which I can definitely descibe as ‘feral’. And sad.

The Many Faces of Dick Grayson
Tumblr media
Looking at Dick Grayson’s 80 plus years of history, he sure has had many names and faces over the multiverses...
Tumblr media
A Flying Grayson (Batman v 3 # 54)
Tumblr media
Robin, Nightwing and Batman, obviously. (Batman 66 Meets The Green Hornet # 8; Detective Comics # 165; JLA/The Titans # 1)
Tumblr media
Rick Danner (a what if-story where Batman is believed to be killed, Dick continues as Robin but changes his civilan identity. World's Finest Comics # 184, 1969)
Tumblr media
Former Ambassador, and lawyer Richard M Grayson. (America vs the Justice Society, 1985)
Tumblr media
Red Robin (Kingdom Come, 1996)
Tumblr media
Officer Grayson (Nightwing vol 2 # 50, 78, 2000, 2003)
Tumblr media
The Target (Nightwing The Target, 2001)
Tumblr media
Freddy Loyd (when he ran away from Bruce in Robin: Year One), an alias made up from his parents’ names.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Talon (on New 52 Earth-3, the morally-flipped world where Thomas Wayne Jr/Owlman killed Dick’s parents and sister Rachel to make Dick emotionally bond with him. Talon was later killed by the Joker. His story is told in Justice League vol 2  # 23.4 and # 25, but you never see him as Talon there. This Talon picture is from Nightwing Vol 4 # 17, where Dick sees different versions of himself. I guess this is supposed to be Talon from Earth-3.
Post-Crisis and before Court of Owls was invented, there was another Talon of Earth-3. He worked with Owlman for a time and later got engaged to Duela Dent, and the two of them came to the pre-Flashpoint main universe and joined the Teen Titans during the “year after” (2006). But his identity was never revealed, and his predecessor had been killed, so he might very well not have been the Dick Grayson of that world. (However, the Talon suit in Nightwing Vol 4 # 17 has copied that look.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also Talon, those few panels when great grandfather William Cobb managed to brain-wash the main continuity Dick with the help of a magic (?) crystal. Nightwing Vol 4 # 66, 67. 2020)
Tumblr media
And a Talon (or Owl) again, in the elseworld story Batman: Last Knight on Earth, 2019–2020).
Tumblr media
Deadman (Injustice Gods Among Us Year 3 # 21, 2015)
Tumblr media
"Junior” Malone (The Power Company: Manhunter, 2002).
Tumblr media
Agent 37 (Grayson # 2, 2014). In communications with Batman, he used the codename Birdwatcher.
(He almost got to be John Blake instead of Agent 37, too. See here)
Tumblr media
Gray Son of Gotham, was what the Court called him. (Robin War # 2).
Tumblr media
And another Gray Son, in Tales from the Dark Multiverse: Hush (2020)
Tumblr media
Crutches (when going undercover with the bad guys with a wounded leg, Nightwing Vol 2 108, 2005)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Renegade (somewhat later undercover with the bad guys in Nightwing Vol 2 # 114, after Deathstroke's daughter Rose hassled him to choose a new name).
Tumblr media
Coerced into being Slade’s apprentice. (Teen Titans S1Ep11-12, 2003)
Tumblr media
Doctor Fate. (Flashpoint Deadman and the Flying Graysons # 3)
Tumblr media
Commander Grayson (on the Justice Lord earth in Batman Beyond 2.0. # 23)
Tumblr media
Red X. (Teen Titans S1Ep9, “Masks”, 2003)
Tumblr media
“Ric” (Nightwing Vol 4 # 50, # 62, # 69, 2018–2020)
Tumblr media
Dicky Boy (Nightwing Vol 4 # 71, 2020)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mayor Grayson (Batman Beyond 2016, # 25 and 45)
Tumblr media
Commissioner Grayson (Batman/Catwoman # 3, 2021)

Have Steph and Cassie interacted?
Pre-reboot only very briefly, like Steph was there for the big Zandia mission in YJ while Cassie was also there but they didn't directly interact:
Tumblr media
(Young Justice (1998) #49)
And I don't think they properly like, talk, until after Steph's whole 'death' and everything. They have like two interactions in one issue of Teen Titans, but that's really it
Tumblr media
(Teen Titans Vol. 3 #66)
There's like multiple other places they appear in the same issue or something, but just... without actual interactions. It especially sucks that they NEVER interact when Steph's Batgirl (outside of like. theoretically bc they both helped Tim with his shit in Red Robin #12 they could have crossed paths? but not on panel), and it's especially wild to me because both of them are close with Kara??
Now after the reboot, in Young Justice, Cassie is excited to see Steph when she arrives on the scene! It kinda feels like they just... filled in the gaps of 'Steph and Cassie absolutely have to know each other at least kinda well at this point'
Tumblr media
(Young Justice (2019) #14)
And actually even before that, when they meet the Steph of Earth-3, Cassie Kon & Bart all seem like, way more excited about Steph than they ever have seemed before which is like, a welcome change I will take LMAO
Tumblr media
(Young Justice (2019) #10)
AND Steph was hanging with the core four during Last Stories of the DC Universe which is cool to see!
Tumblr media
(Dark Nights: Death Metal - The Last Stories of the DC Universe)
Steph was grouped with the YJ kids multiple times especially in some older stuff (she cameos in World Without Grown-Ups, she's in the same Secret Origins issue with them, etc) because she is part of that same generation of heroes, despite getting very little actual interaction with them, which I think was a wasted opprotunity.
In general I want Cassie & Steph to be friends SO BAD it would be so good. Wonder Girl and the Girl Wonder... I want it!!! I want it. Maybe they should also even hold hands and kiss ! who knows :)
in conclusion: Steph & Cassie have only interacted a few times and I want more

Okay, so I’ve got this One Piece theory going and it’s about Brook being pretty sus (no, not in that way).
To start with:
Tumblr media
that ‘leader of a battle convoy in a certain kingdom’ is something that is still waiting to come into play.
And that ‘certain kingdom/island’ is what Oda always uses when he doesn’t want to reveal an island name yet.
That’s the base line, but then:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brook knows the Vinsmoke family name very well, to the point of terror, despite the fact that he’s from the West Blue and they’re only active in the North Blue and exist only as myth in the other blues (Nami says as much for the East Blue, but I didn’t feel like grabbing that panel).
Tumblr media
Robin’s also from the West Blue and she has a reaction that’s more expectable. She only vaguely knows the name (and she could’ve easily heard it from Crocodile or the Revolutionary Army after leaving the WB) and doesn’t have the same visceral reaction Brook does.
And, while Chopper and Nami have pretty good reasons to join the stealth (HA!) mission to save Sanji - Pekoms would die from his injuries with Chopper and Luffy couldn’t navigate his way out of a community pool without Nami), Brook’s reason of ‘I feel really bad about Sanji being taken while I was around’ is a bit thinner on the ground.
---
Anyway, something, something, Brook is hiding something. Something involving the reasons why he left a position as a battle convoy leader in his home kingdom (which I suspect is a high position, close to the royal family) to turn pirate and Sanji’s family - grandparent, most likely.
Occam’s razor suggests Germa making a rare trip to a merc job in the WB, like what brought Sanji to the EB, and attacked Brook’s home kingdom, leaving Brook broken, having failed to protect his home and unable to die because of his power.
But, narratively speaking, I don’t expect it to be that shallow. A bases, yes, but as a start for some deeper connection between Brook and Sanji.
This is brings me out of speculating by connecting existing threads to assuming details wholesale, but it could involve Sanji’s mother, Sora. Assuming she was around the same age as Judge at the time of their marriage - and that she wasn’t entirely consenting in it - the timeline fits that she would’ve been a young child at the same as when Brook turned pirate.
And I can easily see the evil scientist rulers of Germa 66 being down for a little light child abduction for human experimentation fodder, especially going into Judge’s superhuman experimenting that he turned onto his own children.
I’m going to keep my hard theory to just ‘Germa attacked Brook’s kingdom’, but my soft theory is that Sora was someone Brook knew personally, either a member of the royal family he was sworn to protect or even his own family and she was taken by Germa as a child.
Edit: Perhaps this is long too late an addition to expect people to see it, but I’m including this expansion:
Tumblr media
(Behold my lazy attempt at omitting an unneeded panel.)
We have a moment where the crew starts speculating on Sanji’s family and what that moment ends on is a quiet non-reaction from Brook. That is certainly an odd choice when you think about it.

so i came across a panel from teen titans #66 and I'm pretty sure that Tim brought steph along because a) moral support and b) he wanted to spend time with her which i think is sweet.
It is sweet even though it totally does not meld with what was happening in Robin comics at the time.
But the fact that he brought her along I guess speaks volumes for her she's a comforting presence for him... When she's allowed to be.
I mean he's not frightened of what the team will think of him quitting necessarily... Honestly I don't really get why he brought her in universe to be honest? She wasn't the one who suggested it, she never had any thoughts of joining and Tim never really explains the moral support question. I don't really know how to interpret it apart from 'DC were throwing red herrings for new TT members and Steph was on the list thus had to be included in the story somehow'.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I liked that Steph and Traci seemed to hit if off, and I liked the fact that Amy and Steph were about to have a smack before Charlie burst in. I like that Tim brought her along... But why... I don't know.
For comparison sake, this is what Steph was writing in her diary in Robin the same month this Teen Titans issue came out
Tumblr media
"He doesn't trust me anymore," versus "Stephanie is here for moral support".
Love it when editorial doesn't match up. I mean you could say TT happened before that arc in Robin but... Even so. Totally not confusing and leads to clear characterisations and relationships 😅

Even tho this comic had some stupid things (the whole “jOkEr’S kIlLiNg PeOpLe NoW!!!” obviously referring to the 60s show. Even tho... Ed attempted to kill Bat & Robin OFTEN in that series.) But honestly?? Some of the shit is like... MAJOR. ED VIBES. Pretty much how I portray him; Moving all over the place because he can’t sit still. Talking about how much he loves puzzles & games despite how ppl see them as corny, and how much they matter to him. Him questioning “what a real name is.” Him actually getting sad when Bat was brought up (brings back bad memories.) The way he repeats things right here... which is a habit he has. (I also just love how these panels are draw - the buildup to see his face.)
Tumblr media
Wonderful Ed mannerisms.
How he describes G0tham really gets to me. This is how Eddie honestly feels about it. He’s been traumatized severely in this city, yet he still loves it.
Tumblr media
The way he instantly snaps at someone despite being in a jolly mood. How not only does his body move all over the place, but so does his mood. Despite me thinking the comic is a little silly here and there, and how it makes ‘66 canon, but still kinda inaccurate. Eddie’s mannerisms are p good.

Everything Awesome about COIE Hour 1
LET’S GEEK OUT!
RIGHT FROM THE JUMP: In the beginning, there was only one, a single black infinitude... Usin’ that circa 1980s HEAVY COMIC PROSE I dig it.
And then the lil’ clip show of all the heroes and THEY USED SUPERGIRL PILOT FOOTAGE! THE PLANE SAVE, SPECIFICALLY! Good stuff.
And then we go right into the cameos, wasting no time: The newscaster guy from Burton Batman! Earth-X! Robin and Ace from Batman 66! That one Earth where they can say @#%&!
“HOLY CRIMSON SKIES OF DEATH!”
(It’s almost as good as ‘Holey rusted metal, Batman!’ ‘Huh?’ ‘The ground, it’s all metal, and full of holes, you know? Holey!’ ...Almost.)
Wil Wheaton! Which is great but let’s be real here, we all know who the MVP of that scene was.
SPIKE THE DRAGON.
“What’s got you so spooked, buddy?”
Everything about the Clark and Lois scene was delightful, and I’m excited they’re getting a TV show.
Ooooooh and then they use the sad Supergirl theme music over the destruction of Argo and Jonathan’s pod escape and I am. Emotional. :C
Listen. No one is more shocked than I, that I’ve been actively liking Arrow season 8, but here we are, and I want to say: Dad Oliver? Is perhaps Best Oliver.
We all thought he was the Grumpy Uncle of the heroes...but he has evolved into his final form: Group Dad.
THE VIBRATIONAL FORK!!!!!
Oh, right, sorry, ‘Quantum Tower.’
For real, though: I really like how they’ve streamlined some of the more...unwieldy...comic stuff. Like, ‘the machines hold off the anti-matter wave’ is absolutely a thing from the original but you’d be surprised by how  overly complicated they make that idea out to be.
I am...so glad that Alex has obvious reservations about Lena, and doesn’t even want to do it because hoo boy, I’m still not over the Season 5A nonsense.
...More on that in a moment.
More slow Supergirl theme music, and you know what comes with that theme music?
A good ol’ fashioned HOPE SPEECH.
BETWEEN THE SUPER COUSINS.
I love this, for so many reasons, but mostly that it states, right there, in the episode, why Kara keeps going, keeps fighting, keeps moving forward in spite of all she has lost. (I mean. We know the reason, it’s nothing new, but it’s always nice to have a reminder.) It also has some intense ‘Asgard is not a place, it’s a People’ undertones, re: Krypton, which I like.
WE STAN ONE PARAGON OF HOPE (sorry, Hour 2 spoilers)
AND THEN A HUG!!!!
Dad Oliver bonding with his smol, grumpy daughter and giving her her own set of vigilante duds is. Some good stuff. Yes it is.
And OoOOooOoOhhHHHH, the reveal that Oliver’s deal w/ the Monitor is tenuous at best, and therefore Kara and Barry aren’t necessarily safe...an interesting twist!
Hrrrrrmmmm. Lena stuff.
....I’ll get to it in a minute.
Right, okay, back to the tower.
It’s a little thing, but I love that, when the explosions start, Oliver just looks around like, ‘What?’ but Mia is ready to THROW DOWN with her sudden hero crouch.
I liked the field trip to visit Old Man Oliver! I get the feeling that it’s setup for Sara and season five of Legends, kinda.
And now, folks...the most important part of this crossover.
*deep breath*
SHAAAAAAAAAADOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW DEEEEEMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNSSSS!!!!!!!
WE GOT ‘EM. And they were flying around, attacking the machine, JUST LIKE IN THE COMIC!
And they used drones to get those shots apparently. It gave it a nice, zippy, action-y feeling.
*sheds a nerdy tear* It was beautiful.
I also like that Oliver and Kate were very Extra, flipping over debris when there was literally no reason to do so other than, ‘gotta look cool.’
Ray is, as always, a delight.
(I’m skipping some stuff because otherwise this will be really long)
HEAT VISION TEAM-UP
Love me some heat vision.
KELLY WITH THE SHIEEEELLLLDDDDDD
And then, we get to Oliver’s Big Damn Hero moment, which I wanna talk about because it manages to do two entirely different things simultaneously and I really dig it:
So, obviously, it’s Oliver dying in order to save a bunch of people from Earth-38, as well as Barry and Kara.
I reiterate: Big Damn Hero Moment.
But it also happens pretty much...entirely off-screen. And he comes back, all banged up...you know. The way a human would look if they went toe-to-toe with an army of Shadow Demons.
So it both honors his status as The OG Arrowverse Hero, but it also exudes the same single-panel-death energy as the original comic. Like. ‘HE WAS SO HEROIC GUYS but it happened entirely outside of our view’ and I think it’s very impressive, that they merged (ha, ha) those two concepts so well.
And then he has his requisite Death Speech, and t’was a good Death Speech.
And then Pariah shows up (!!!!!!!!!!) and Things Look Grim and then credits!
SO. GOOD.
LOVED IT ALLLLLLL.
(Well except for one thing and can YOU GUESS WHAT IT IS?)
Spoilers: It’s Lena.
I understand why she’s here, and I’m glad she deigned to put her drama aside to help save the world, but MY GOD, what a petty jerk.
Like. Please stop making everything about you as the skies go dark with cosmic lightning and an army of wraiths descends upon a giant space tower that’s holding the big galactic destruction wave at bay.
(I’m so glad they didn’t tie in the mind control--because that was kind of a thing in the comic, like. Psycho Pirate was getting everyone riled up, and I think they sent another hero with either emotion powers or telepathy to soothe the people and make them stop throwing themselves into the anti-matter ray...so I was WORRIED that they would ask Lena to re-purpose Myriad to get everyone off-world in an orderly fashion THANK GOODNESS SHE ONLY BUILT A TELEPORTER.)
...Aside from that though, GREAT STUFF.
