ONE: Alex is fifteen when his wings come in, which is a little older than most people get them if they're going to get them, so he'd pretty much gotten to the point of assuming they'd skipped him in the same way they skipped June; that their mom's genes had won out over their dad's. TWO: He loves his wings. He's proud of his wings. What he doesn't love is the snide remarks aimed his way from his mom's political opponents about his affliction; the comments that are always tinged with racism, just because Alex's wings match his dad's, even though the Wing gene appears just as much in white people as it does in Latinos. On the campaign trail for his mom's first campaign, one of her advisors suggests that maybe Alex should hide them under his suit jacket for campaign appearances. (His mom clears the room, and Alex never sees the person who made the suggestion again.)

THREE: Alex discovers very quickly that the wings are... sensitive. He has a lot of fun with this information, both by himself and with other people.

FOUR: The first time Henry lays eyes on Alex, at Rio, the fluorescent lights are bouncing off his wings, flashing all the subtle colours in the feathers; he's so beautiful it makes Henry ache. The thoughts of how Alex's wings would feel under his fingertips torment him for over three years before he finally has the chance to find out for sure.

FIVE: Alex stands behind a podium, says America: He is my choice; says I am the First Son of the United States, and I’m bisexual and spreads his wings as wide as they'll go, taking up most of the stage. He's not going to be made to feel ashamed about any part of himself.

Okay, without trying to take away from the joy we are feeling, we must stay vigilant. This ceasefire deal is 3 phases, the first is a 42 day pause for hostage exchange which is set to start on SUNDAY, as long as Netanyahu’s cabinet signs off on it.
