Alexei Anatolyevich Navalny (4 June 1976 – 16 February 2024)
Mr Navalny was a Russian opposition leader, lawyer, anti-corruption activist, and political prisoner.
He organised anti-government demonstrations and ran for office to advocate reforms against corruption in Russia and against Dictator Vladimir Putin and his government.
Mr Navalny was founder of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK). He was recognised by Amnesty International as a prisoner of conscience, and was awarded the Sakharov Prize for his work on human rights.
Through his social media channels, Mr Navalny and his team published material about corruption in Russia, organised political demonstrations and promoted his campaigns. In a 2011 radio interview, he described Russia's ruling party, United Russia, as a "party of crooks and thieves", which became a popular epithet.
Mr Navalny and the FBK have published investigations detailing alleged corruption by high-ranking Russian officials and their associates. He twice received a suspended sentence for embezzlement, in 2013 and 2014. Both criminal cases were widely considered politically motivated and intended to bar him from running in future elections. He ran in the 2013 Moscow mayoral election and came in second with 27% of the vote but was barred from running in the 2018 presidential election.
In August 2020, Mr Navalny was hospitalised in serious condition after being poisoned with a Novichok nerve agent. He was medically evacuated to Berlin and discharged a month later. He accused Putin of being responsible for his poisoning, and an investigation implicated agents from the Federal Security Service.
In January 2021, Mr Navalny returned to Russia and was immediately detained on accusations of violating parole conditions while he was hospitalised in Germany. Following his arrest, mass protests were held across Russia. In February 2021, his suspended sentence was replaced with a prison sentence of over 2+1⁄2 years' detention, and his organisations were later designated as extremist and liquidated.
In March 2022, Mr Navalny was sentenced to an additional nine years in prison after being found guilty of embezzlement and contempt of court in a new trial described as a sham by Amnesty International; his appeal was rejected and in June, he was transferred to a high-security prison.
In August 2023, Mr Navalny was sentenced to an additional 19 years in prison on extremism charges.
In December 2023, Navalny went missing from prison for almost three weeks. He re-emerged in an Arctic Circle corrective colony in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
On 16 February 2024, the Russian prison service reported that Mr Navalny had died at the age of 47. His death sparked protests, both in Russia and in various other countries. Accusations against the Russian authorities in connection with his death have been made by many Western governments and international organisations.

It’s been two whole years…2 years since Putin was responsible for sending his Russian troops to invade Ukraine! Congress needs to do something to support Ukraine! I know the MAGAs won’t since they’re pro-Putin!
Tumblr media
And to make matters worse, Mr. Alexei Navalny was murdered by Putin himself. Bugger made ‘im a martyr! He did not deserve that and Mrs. Navalny said it herself, Putin killed her husband! Russia is trying to cover up his death.
Tumblr media
Furious and not surprised! 😤🏳️‍🌈
The Republican Party is unfit to lead this country because number one; THEY BOW DOWN TO A DICTATOR SUCH AS PUTIN OR TRUMP!!!! PUTIN WILL HAVE TO ANSWER TO YESHUA WHEN WORD GETS OUT!!!! 🤬🖤🔥

Today the body of the only real opposition leader in my country was buried
After his death on February 16th
Exactly a month before the presidential “election”.
After three years in prison camps.
Tumblr media
Thousands of people gathered before the funeral ceremony, leaving flowers and messages of gratitude
Tumblr media
Thousands of people protested on the streets, stopped by the police from getting closer to the funeral
Tumblr media
All stood together in his name,
Tumblr media
chanting
“Heroes don’t die!”
“Stop the war!”
“Peace for Ukraine! Freedom for Russia!”
“You wasn’t afraid, we aren’t afraid.”
I was afraid
I am
But seeing the bravery of my people, openly protesting despite all the risks, despite their faces being caught on cameras, despite everything
Makes me hope
And makes me want to spread the word
It often feels just scary and hopeless
Because, what the protests are for? For the goverment to see, to fear, to reconsider their choices
But there has been so many protests
And the goverment
Does not care.
Never did.
And the people brainwashed by the official propaganda will only see and hear what they’re being shown and told on daily basis.
But to all the people who still know what’s black and white.
Tumblr media
This today?
Was hope.
He was killed, but not broken.
Even in such tragedy there is light.
And on March 16th the official presidential elections will be held.
But everyone, every single person in this country knows they’re faked.
Have been for years. And years. Even before the constitution was rewritten to coronate one person forever.
It will be faked again.
But today?
Was the truth.
The truth that we aren’t broken.
Before all the power of the corrupted, heartless, hating, greedy and evil
There is good.
There is honesty, bravery, conscience, kindness, understanding
Humanity
And I just want the humanity to know.
I just want the world to see.
We might not have power to do much else.
But if there is good, kind and understanding outside.
Help.
Help the world.
The hate,
The corruption,
The wars must stop.
One day we must win.

«Здесь для меня просто очевидная вещь: не сдавайтесь. Не надо, нельзя сдаваться!» (с) Алексей Навальный, на вопрос о том, что он может посоветовать делать, если «случится невозможное и его убьют».
Вечная память.

hero of our time.

it's not a shame to do little,
it's a shame to do nothing,
it's a shame to let yourself be frightened.

The spirit can't be hindered by four walls
Memory can't be covered with cold earth
Since there are no sources of light,
It means that this light will fill everything with itself
And its rays are reflected in us —
thanks to them, we are visible to each other.
Coming out of the darkness is painful for the eyes
But there is no option not to come out of it.
26.03.2024
40 days since the death of Alexei Navalny, a Russian hero.
Listen to this song and watch this video, please. It's heartbreaking.
Tumblr media
I can't help but use this account, including to express my political beliefs, not only my interests and funny stuff.
Unfortunately, the Russian government commits many crimes. For the third year now, it has been waging a criminal war against Ukraine. For 25 years now, my country has been ruled by a bloody dictator. He has the blood of hundreds of oppositionists and just free people who were not afraid to tell the truth on his hands. On February 16, 2024, this dictator killed Alexei Navalny. I tried to translate the song that was created by his team in his memory, but it sounds much better in Russian.
You could have been told that Alexei died in prison. But it's not true. He didn't "die". He was poisoned, tortured and then killed. Hundreds or even thousands more people are now in Russian prisons simply for disagreeing with the dictatorship.
You can write "save Ukraine" on the sheet of paper — they will find you and put you in jail. You can say: "stop the war". They will say: "you're a terrorist". You can be gay, trans, bisexual, etc — they will say: "you're an extremist and you're dangerous for children". You can put flowers on the grave of the murdered opposition leader or at the memorial in memory of the victims of political repression — the police will take you to the police station for... I do not know why. Nobody knows. They'll just take you away. Because that's what the dictator wants.
Look at these pictures. I made them today. There were a lot of people, crying and singing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't know how in other religions, but in Orthodoxy, 40 days from the day of death is considered the day when the soul chooses between Heaven and Hell and finally leaves the earthly world. My family is Orthodox, Alexei was Orthodox. That's why I came to the graveyard today, to visit his grave and to say goodbye. I was born when the dictator had already seized power, went to school with him, went to university with him. Growing up, I realized that my country was never a free country. There is no democracy in Russia. No human rights. No freedom. No safety. No freedom of speech. I want people from other countries to know that, because that's not what your media will tell about Russian people.
And, please, remember Alexei Navalny. He fought for all for us. He was the real president of Russia and will remain in our hearts forever.

No demonstrations in the West after Navalny's death. Don't the boys who want to liberate Palestine "from the river to the sea" wish for a free Russia?
