Despite my issues about Lottie’s death, I still do think we should see the season through before dismissing the show completely. I think the show has shown itself to have strong writing and ability to explore the characters and we know Lottie’s story will be continued throughout the season, culminating in ep10. So even though I still doubt it will be perfect and I think the show should have walked us through it after having sufficiently explored her character (there’s also room to talk about how this relates to her as a woman of color and a schizophrenic character), there’s still room to work with it in a way that parts with her character in a satisfactory manner (like take Nat’s death which was extremely disliked when the episode released but with them, it’s made more sense and is understandable from a narrative perspective).

I had a "fun" moment today.....

"Fun" as in, I think I broke my new coworkers mind for a second when I A.) Explained that I am a bit of a gamer in all my nerdy lab science glory. And B.) Listed games like elden ring, dark souls, bloodborne, Hades 1, Hades 2, Hollow Knight and Baldur's Gate in the same ramble as Mario, legend of zelda, stardew valley, pokemon, and animal crossing.

The face they gave me when they asked how I can enjoy super cozy games like animal crossing and super "hard-core" games like bloodborne at the same time.

Well.....

My answer was a ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Sometimes, I want a cozy little game with cute animal neighbors, and sometimes I want to purge the old gods with fire and brimstone in a vengeful rage. It depends on the day and my mood, honestly.

My Fallout show "hot take" is that it is just as fandom brained to force a "father-daughter" relationship onto the Ghoul and Lucy as it is to ship them.

in both cases you are boxing a very interesting pair of characters into predetermined fandom tropes. You are not better because your box doesn't have them fuck nasty!

Dont get me wrong, go off! Enjoy it as a father-daughter duo! But do not be rude towards people who see two adult characters with a messy dynamic and ship them.

At the end of the day, theres very little in the actual text to imply either right now. Hell, I just saw two posts, back to back, describe the same scene in the exact same way up until the final paragraph, where one said "And thats why he's her dad!" and the other said "And thats why they're in love!".

Don't be an asshole and don't couch personal dislike in faux moralising. We are talking about a woman who casually fucked hooked-up with her cousin and a 200 year old zombie vagabond. Its not that deep.

I literally cannot think of Radagon's fight as him being the one fighting.

And I know his rune on the impassable thorns suggests he was the one to place them, but I just cannot care.

Hundreds of years reflecting on the ways you fucked up your life, and the lives of your loved ones.

Maybe even your subjects.

Hopefully even the children you decided to get rid of, or leave behind.

In complete isolation with your other half... I can't imagine there not being reconciliation between them.

With how shattered they are when he takes up that hammer, I can only see him as a literal puppet.

I love the whole family, nothing can stop that.

Since the dlc, I look at Radagon as some specific part or parts of Marika.

I believe he's love and loyalty, at least. There's some themes there that I really like. Loyalty to the Golden Order, to the point of zealousness. Love for his children, and his wife.

Both his families.

But the loyalty wins over when he's called to be Elden Lord.

I don't believe she would have wanted to take Radagon from the Carian family, especially if she lacked those emotions while he was gone from her.

I believe that was a decision made by the fingers, thinking that they need to make sure they have a loyal spare empyrean if they needed to be rid of a disloyal Marika, and Ranni, the only spare, was anything but loyal.

Of course, Radagon's breaking of his vow to Rennala cursed Miquella and Malenia, before even their birth. Making them invalid candidates, despite being empyreans.

Another thing, even if Marika couldn't feel love or loyalty, she may be able to feel it again when merged with Radagon. And share the memories of his Carian family, and the emotions paired with them. I think that's beautiful.

As long as he was away, they weren't her family. But when she's with him again, they are.

The basis for this headcanon is the fact that quite many pieces of historic knowledge related to Radagon portray closeness with his children and Rennala.

Whereas Marika is (outside of SOTE) usually only spoken of as a detached monarch. Not nearly as many non-ceremonial interactions with her children.

I think Marika left those parts behind, giving herself a greater opportunity to prepare for the shattering of the Elden Ring.

She banished the Tarnished with the intent of them coming back and waging war for it, after all.

If she really did plan for the shattering, and the Tarnished waging war for it, I honestly don't think she wanted any of her family to live.

Or herself.

An end to gods.

Not unlike her daughter Ranni.
