Marika would arguably be a Good Example of an Interesting and Complex (and Fucked Up) Character. SOTE’s main boon was adding additional depth to an already deep character, though some take the view that it makes all her Sins Alright (it does not) or that it ‘woobifies’ and whitewashes her.

(Yes we get her Tragic Backstory BUT we also get confirmation that all the Problems in ER’s Golden Order came as a side effect of HER reign and rule! It was her choices that entrapped her.

Also she was responsible for initiating a reverse Genocide. And more importantly had to HIDE this fact from her own subjects because that was too much to swallow.

And this is a civilization that glorifies her as God, and reveres Martial Strength!

Also also said Genocidal War acted as one of her many places to send Criminals and People She Didn’t Like. (Namely the common soldiery. As well as arguably her Son but he went willingly)

i don't understand why it's bad for female characters to have feelings and depth and emotions that aren't always neat and clean like maybe she has unresolved feelings for someone maybe she is overly caring maybe she is a bit insane and i love her for it. why does she have to be the little sunshine girl or the badass bitch like what women do you know who are like this? fuck off
