The Memory of Bodies AU:

Jason has been making amends with Tim in his own stilted way. He keeps his distance, but he'll put a blanket on Tim when the kid passes out somewhere (since Tim is always falling asleep in random places). The teen will find his favorite snacks in various places. Red Hood has shown vicious protection for Red Robin.

Tim has noticed and acknowledged these changes. As far as Jason is aware, Tim's forgiven him. They're good.

During a YJ mission, a magic user "gifts" Tim nonconsensually with a spell that makes him forget some of his more traumatic memories. One of the memories targeted was the TT attack.

At first, the Bats don't realize Tim's missing any memories. They don't like to talk about it and usually avoid that topic.

All the Bats see is that Tim's shoulders have lost a tension they didn't realize he was carrying. He allows himself to be physically closer to Jason, even going as far as falling asleep on him during a movie. The teen smiles more, makes more jokes, and isn't as guarded around the Waynes.

He wasn't unhappy or distrustful with them before, but he wasn't nearly as open as he becomes post spell.

Eventually, someone makes a comment about TT. Tim asks them what they mean by that.

Cue the Bats freaking out.

Once they figure out it was magic, they have a discussion on whether Tim *should* get his memories back. He's obviously happier like this.

Tim is extremely uncomfortable with the idea of someone controlling his memories and him being unable to remember such important details. He doesn't care if it will cause him to be more stressed out and cold. The idea of him not knowing freaks him out. Besides, what other memories could he be forgetting? What if none of the Bats were there when they happened? What does he not remember?

Anyways, Tim's having a few mental breakdowns.

Jason's having a few mental breakdowns (he thought they were good. He thought Tim trusted him. He thought he made it up to him).

The Bats restore Tim's memories, and he can feel the weight of them as they settle. His eyes become sharper, less bright, and they keep track of the exits as well as everyone in the room. The other Bats knew better, but they still feel slightly disappointed and sorrowful.

Damian slipping a dagger into Steph’s coffin as a funerary gift, because he would never risk sending his sister into the afterlife unarmed.

Steph waking up in her dress in her grave without even a belt buckle to her name, but feeling that hilt digging into her hip. Steph using the dagger to dig her way out.

Talia coming to retrieve Steph off the streets, and Steph still has that dagger. Steph pulling it on Talia on pure instinct.

Talia confirming Steph’s identity by Steph’s stance & grip—exactly the way Damian taught her (exactly the way he learned from his mother.)

Steph recognizing Damian’s features in Talia, and lowering the knife in confusion. Talia taking Steph by the wrist and leading her into the vehicle that will take them out of Gotham until Steph makes her grand return.

hey all! hey rhythm heaven fandom, specifically

so uh, in joint celebration of tengoku’s 18th, ds’ 16th, and my 3rd anniversary of being into this franchise, i’m gonna be sharing a rhythm heaven au idea i’ve had for a bit over a year now. this is real big because i never share any of my thoughts on anything (hyperbole) so i hope you all enjoy

so, ironically, this concept is much more megamix-centric than any other game

basically, it assumes that all rhythm games that didn’t make the cut to megamix are ‘discontinued,’ for lack of a better term, and thus the characters that starred in those minigames are dead. yep, it’s pretty heavy.

it would take place in the world of megamix, with the different “lands” and landmarks and stuff, in which the characters whose main minigames are in megamix live their normal lives, just with the fact that their friends from minigames who didn’t make the cut are gone. it’s some real angst fodder for all you rarepair shippers out there, which is probably a lot of you knowing my mutuals (this includes me— my otp of like, all time is a rh rarepair)

i actually don’t really have an idea of how, diegetically, this happened, but i may come up with something eventually (or you all could come up with something if you’re interested enough to have read up to here)

that’s about all i’m gonna share right now cuz that really is just the main idea of the au. feel free to send an ask if you’d like more details, cuz i do have more details. also feel free to make content of this if you’re interested in it! i’d actually be ecstatic to see it, please tag me if you do

Red Hood!Steph would still be a Desolation avatar—there’s too much anger, too much destruction, too much hate & desire for the complete annihilation of the targets of that hate to be anything else—but she’s different.

RH!Jason is an earthquake.

RH!Steph would be a lightning storm. The crackle of electricity, the taste of ozone, the light of something utterly uncontrollable in her eyes. The billowing, bulging thunder cloud sweeping across the sky to blot out the sun. Wind enough to rip up trees, rain so heavy you can’t see, but lightning, lightning every few seconds, like all the electricity in the world has been stolen underneath her skin. A fire-starter (like Jason) but the blaze itself is not what you have to Fear, the blaze is merely a side effect of something much more powerful sweeping through. Her victims are not shattered bones & splattered brains, they’re bleeding ears & the reek of cooking meat.

Jason borders the Buried far closer than he’d like.

Steph would dance on the border of the Vast like a small child dances in the rain: with wild abandon & near-feral glee.

I think my favorite stupid idea with batman is the thought that literally everyone knows the Wayne's are the bats and just... doesn't say anything? Is it possible? No. Is it funny? Yes. The rogues have collectively decided that they will pretend they don't know, which essentially means they pretend they're kidnapping different people when they manage to snatch one of the Wayne's. Like, Riddler takes Tim, and as expected Tim just blazes through the riddles and leaves, but the next day Riddler manages to injure Red Robin and, much to Tim's chagrin, gives him the exact same set of riddles. It makes the bats think "oh they don't know our identities, Riddler would never use the same riddles on one guy" but actually Riddler just thought it'd be a really funny joke because Tim cut his stupid little suit with a batarang last week.

The civilians only say nothing because they know it could lure like, metropolis' villains to try and attack, and they do not want to deal with those freaks.

A guy from Star city moves to Gotham like "What if I run into the elusive Batman and he hurts me, oh god..."

and someone's just like "nah Bruce wouldnt bother you."

"Bruce????"

OOUGGH OK SOME FUN LITTLE TIDBITS OF THINGS THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE FIC

- tim and cass have a very “i love you but you hurt my sibling” energy towards steph after all is said and done. they both love stephanie so so much but somethings gotta give after you try and kill their sibling. it is sooo complex and sickening im so unwell abt it

- sometime after battle for the cowl cass and steph accidentally meet on neutral terms and cass bandages steph up and they have a Moment and cass stares so intensely at the scars steph has because of her.

- jason sees steph and instinctively knows in another life that wouldve been him. steph hates that hes not like her. in a subconscious multiversal way they both know these roles are reversed in another life. jason sees himself so clearly in the way steph stumbles away holding her slit throat. steph sees herself in the way jason watches her with intense eyes and clenched fists and begrudging understanding

- cass watches over tim as he sleeps in the medbay after the first Big Fight with steph. tim helps bandage cass after the final fight and watches over her as she feigns sleep.

- stephanie keeps her ruined bloodied uniform from the Last Fight hung up haphazardly at her main base. she cant bear to wash away the mixed blood of her and cass that stains it

- similarly, it takes 4 days for cass to wash her bloodied hands after the Last Fight. finally babs gets through to her in the end and she washes the blood off. she wishes she could pretend its her blood only.

i am very sick about this au. i love asks. ty for sending me one!!!

oh yeah uh

so i wanted to make a post about this much earlier than now but i forgot

but uh, in my rh au, ghosts exist. yeah. those who died/didn't make it, they are ghosts now. wahoo.

i imagine that they're semi-corporeal-- they can't be seen by living beings but can interact in small ways with the living world, like moving small objects, flickering lights, giving chills to anyone they phase through, classic horror movie type stuff

i actually don't know why i didn't mention this in the original post, i just kinda forgot i guess

so because of that, in my notes and concepts, i usually call the au "ghosted," as a sort of double-entendre. the games that didn't make it to megamix were "ghosted--" left behind, and they also became ghosts. i'm a genius, i know (sarcastic)

so there's your new possibilities for angst. have fun.
