[W A R N I N G: This lot is heavy. I do NOT recommend it if you do not have a decent system. My personal specs – GTX 1660ti, 16GB Ram, Nvme M.2 Primary Drive with 156GB of CC. It takes me 2-3 min to load for this lot, which is longer than my regular time. However, I have it set to the ‘Lounge’ lot type to avoid the extended load for the ‘Generic’ lot buildbuy when you have a lot of CC.]

Former 1948 auto body shop was converted to 2 beautiful shops with a gorgeous home on top, in Key West, FL. It has 4bds, 3 full & 3 half baths, 7,239 sq ft, $6.5m. The new owners can keep the tenants downstairs or open up their own business.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The larger retail space is a wellness cafe & boutique. Isn't this nice? It was recently renovated. The other side is a smaller retail space, office with storage, and 3 1/2 baths.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The living space upstairs is lovely.
Tumblr media
Access the terrace in front of the building from the living room area.
Tumblr media
A large open concept living space includes the dining room and kitchen.
Tumblr media
Love how the kitchen looks like it's in a little hut.
Tumblr media
The cabinets are a lively antiqued lime green with a black subway tile backsplash.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The primary bedroom is a nice large size and has an interesting ceiling.
Tumblr media
Look at how pretty the bath is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The 2nd bd. is smaller, but has a large closet wall.
Tumblr media
Plus, a shower room with beautiful tile.
Tumblr media
The smallest bedroom is used as a home office.
Tumblr media
On the 3rd level, there's another complete apt.
Tumblr media
It's just as beautiful, but a bit smaller. This building has a lot of rental income.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It has a beautiful black & white kitchen.
Tumblr media
One nice bedroom.
Tumblr media
And, a bath that includes laundry.
Tumblr media
There's a private outdoor entrance to the apt., also.
Tumblr media
The storage area needs a little finishing.
Tumblr media
The restrooms for the retail spaces are very nice.
Tumblr media
Isn't this adorable? A little tourist train goes by the building.
Tumblr media
What a great property.

Sam Goody stores at Universal CityWalk & Horton Plaza (1993 & 1995)
"The synthesis of three distinct merchandising departments for the new Sam Goody store at the Universal Citywalk exhibits a design of dynamic expression by the Jerde Partnership design team.
The new building sits on the center court of an outdoor shopping mall in Southern California. Representing the three merchandising concepts of Sam Goody, the design pronounces each area through unique and interrelated façades.
The customer enters the Popular Music department through an animated, neon-accented color plaster façade. The entrance to the Classics department and the upstairs Coffee Cafe is between two 40 foot high, 10 foot in diameter Corinthian columns within an interpretative classical façade. A 35 foot high, two-dimensional profile sign depicting King Kong climbing the face of a black and metallic bronze tile building hangs over the entrance to Suncoast Motion Picture Company (video).
The central sales environment is referred to as Backstage, and has the character and atmosphere of a soundstage/studio. The two-story space is defined by upper level catwalks and the destination mezzanine known as the Coffee Cafe. A three-dimensional, walk-through Media Wall features music advertising, photos, oversized images, photo lightboxes, video monitors, projected music videos, reader boards and graphic elements.
Media events are orchestrated throughout the day in an ever-changing environment that depicts the trends of popular music and movies. Weather reports, current events and promotional messages continuously scroll by on the reader boards. In-store performances, CD signings and record promotions bring a sense of "an event" to the store. A live VJ/DJ controls all aspects of the store's music and video media, and interacts with the customers.
On a floating piano-shaped level, the Classics department features a state-of-the-art inventory of classical and jazz selections and creates a controlled, intimate area for the customer with special acoustics, localized sound systems, listening stations and lighting. In the Suncoast Motion Picture Company department, tall video columns accent the environment, supporting the sale of videos and laserdiscs. Interspersed throughout the department are video monitors creating the effect of video confetti.
The Coffee Cafe features a wide variety of interactive listening stations and media experiences. It is intended to be an intimate environment where the customer can pause, enjoy the fare, engage in conversation and take in views of the store as well as the street below through its windows."
Designed by The Jerde Partnership

Taurus moon culture post please 🩷🦋🫶🏻
holding grudges so strongly it probably carries over to another life
feeling an extreme connection to nature, probably owns a significant amount of plants (or dreams about having a huge garden/house full of plants) and/or spends a lot of time outdoors
animals tend to love them instantly, and they have a very strong connection to them (especially to cats)
struggles immensely with vulnerability and opening up
takes 8-10 business years to get over things, especially heartbreak
emotional relief likely comes the most through immersion in nature (hiking, kayaking, meditating outdoors, etc), physical activity (yoga, hiking) and/or retail therapy
probably very into things such as aromatherapy, incense, crystals
uses purchases of little treats as a coping method. cannot survive without making frequent lil purchases
despite this ^ i find they're often (depending on other placements, especially venus, though) extremely good with money and even their "emotional/impulse" purchases tend to be budgeted
CEO of repressing emotions, often really struggles with opening up, even to themselves (ie: struggles with accepting their emotions/just feeling them)
tendency to fixate on people, things: they'll have a comfort movie they rewatch at least 2x a month for their entire life, a comfort meal that's eaten weekly for years, etc
when they crush on someone, it's slow to develop, and lasts a long time. the type of crush on the same person for years and years but never say anything (it takes them sooo many years to admit their feelings, and they're virtually never the first one to say it)
they're often guilty of falling in love with friends as they're attracted to comfort/familiarity. definitely not the app dating/speed date type, they need to know someone for a significant period of time before developing actual feelings
tends to be very possessive: over their lover, their friends, their resources
they are so, so loyal and i find (depending on other placements) are rarely gossipy, you don't have to worry about them talking behind your back
stubborn, of course. my way or the highway mindset. can struggle with god complexes and can be a bit close-minded at times (not as bad as taurus sun/mercury/ascendant though)
generally have very laidback, easy-going energy. even when stressed, going through emotional turmoil, they always come off as calm and collected. they tend to be a rock for other people
people tend to naturally look to them for guidance, mentorship, advice; they're often taken very seriously even from a younger age
has extremely high standards for themselves and struggles with perfectionism
undeveloped they have problems with resource-hoarding. very much "what's mine is MINE but what's yours is also mine" lol; can be selfish when undeveloped (but completely opposite when developed!)
napping queens these moons often deal with problems by taking a big sleep
this is a through thick and thin placement: they do not give up on people or things easily. they're amazing friends and partners as they really stay committed and do everything they can to make things work (sometimes to a fault, they can stay in bad situations/with bad people for a long time due to not letting go/not wanting to "give up")
very nurturing and caring personalities, they're always ensuring their loved ones have their needs met; even when their own needs aren't met
i find they often have the most beautiful, aesthetically pleasing and cozy home/room environments! they often get shaken up/can't function if their space is messy and not decorated + organized
love languages? gifts. physical touch. acts of service.
their emotions tend to be very stable, not super prone to mood swings (dependent on rest of chart). in general are just very consistent people
struggles a lot with stepping outside of their comfort zones and can miss out on opportunities due to fear
disclaimer: your entire chart will shape who you are, not to mention your current transits, progressions, solar return, etc. you may not relate to all points despite having this placement due to other astrological factors.

Hi Amelie! I love the aesthetic of your game and builds. You've shared some pictures of a build named "Residences & Shops in Munich, Germany". I have been reeally in love with "multipurpose" builds with more than 1 building in a block like that. I'd like to ask, do you have any tips in building a large "block/street" like that? I'm having a hard time visualizing compatible floorplans. Would you ever be interested in sharing a bit of how you build, like a backstage view of your process? Thank you
Hello! I really appreciate your kind words! I actually answered a question on my building tips and the steps I personally take when starting a build here. In terms of building larger multipurpose lots I actually haven't built anything else like this but here are some more tips that I thought of when building my Munich shops: (these are quite specific but hopefully will still be helpful to you!)
Tumblr media
Define the Purpose: Start by deciding the main functions of your build (e.g., apartments, clothing store, office spaces). This will guide your design choices and floorplans.
Entrance Design: Ensure each area has its own entrance. For commercial spaces, a storefront with large windows is inviting, while residential units usually have private entries.
Access: Consider how Sims will move between the different areas. Use staircases or elevators to connect each floor.
Common Areas: For apartment buildings, consider creating shared spaces like a laundry room, lounge, or outdoor area that residents can enjoy and use.
Theme and Branding: Decide on a theme for your store (e.g., clothing, grocery, bakery). This will help everything look and feel cohesive.
Display and Layout: Create displays with items on shelves or counters. Feel free to look up actual floorplans of clothing or grocery stores for realism.
Backroom Storage: Include a small storage area or backroom for employees to manage inventory. This adds realism.
Functional Space (for Offices): Design offices with functional workspaces, including desks, chairs, and meeting areas. Consider creating cubicles or open spaces based on your inspiration photo/idea.
Break Area: Incorporate a break room or lounge where employees can relax. A kitchenette with a coffee maker and snacks can make it more inviting.
Decor: Use office-related decor like filing cabinets, plants, and artwork to make the space feel professional yet comfortable.
Tumblr media
Here is an example that might further help you:
Ground Floor: Retail store with a large display area, checkout counter, and storage in the back.
Second Floor: Offices with multiple rooms, including a reception area and meeting room. Ensure there's a small break area for employees.
Third Floor: Apartments with a mix of layouts (one-bedroom and studio units). Each unit can have a small kitchen and living area, with balconies for outdoor space.

State Street, That Great Street: We Know About The Past, But What About The Future?
youtube
I just hope this post finds you, period.
If you're well, I'm glad.
If you're struggling, I wish you the best.
If you're cold, I hope you find warmth.
Chicago's State Street is an intoxicating place for me, full of memories from my younger days and my not-so-younger days. It's the older brother/sister/mother/father/sister-in-law to the tonier Michigan Avenue and for me, it is also the home to one of my favorite non-public bathrooms in the city (hi Palmer House!) and the Chicago Public Library, where I've spent countless hours researching, writing, and from time to time, sleeping.
A lot has changed in the thirty plus years that I've had a personal relationship with this retail corridor: the State Street pedestrian mall has been unpedestrianized, the Woolworth's where I bought a pet for my dorm room is long gone, and by the time you read this missive, the last department store (Macy-Field's) on That Great Street might be a pleasant memory, stripped of its clothes racks and stunning jewellery counters.
Retail corridors are in a constant state of upheaval and online shopping and the mercurial shopping habits of the American consumer are as fickle as a teenager's popular music tastes (hey, I was that teenager, so watch out!)
While we didn't profile it in this particular program, one of the newest arrivals on State Street is the Medieval Torture Museum (Tagline: "our product is emotion"----what?), gently tucked next to the Chicago Theatre and a Chick-Fil-A that used to be home to an off-track betting parlor where I once met a man who claimed to be Al Capone's son (he wasn't)
I have not paid the $39.97 to enter this 6,000 square foot chamber of horrors, but this physical manifestation of torture porn(ography) seems to recall another period in State Street history when there were dime museums, bump n' grind burlesque theaters, and adult bookstores scattered throughout the 300 and 400 blocks of south State Street.
There have been some other remarkable changes since we shot this program as well. One that sticks out to me is the complete closure of Pritzker Park directly north of the Chicago Public Library. Sure, this tiny bit of green and poured concrete wasn't a great public space, but it was one of State Street's only public outdoor spaces---perhaps the only one.
Honestly, I just wish you could buy a hot dog from a cart on State Street----something about that just feels so iconically Chicago.
That hasn't been possible since 1996 when the pedestrian mall went away, alas.
Of course you could just go to the "goth" Target (nee Carson Pirie Scott), buy a mini-grill, get some Vienna Beef(s) and set up shop AL FRESCO style at State and Madison.
Voila---your very own hot dog stand.

"Holy Cats! Extra! Extra! Billions Lost in Stock Market Crash!"
The year is 1929, and your Sim finds themselves among the countless affected by the devastating aftermath of the stock market crash. With nothing left but shattered dreams, they must now begin anew!
No job, no home, and worst of all, NO MONEY :(
The goal of this Mini Decades challenge is to get your sims to build, live and have raised a family in a happy home by the beginning of world war 2. The great depression was considered over by the start of the 1940s
I didn't invent the Rags to Riches challenge or the Decades Challenge rules. I'm just sharing a slightly tweaked challenge I've been enjoying and thought others might like too :)
*currently working on a random encounter table to make this version a bit more unique
My Guide Below:
I am following these guides with basic tweaks
Rags2Riches Challenge
Decades Challenge, Follow the 1930s Rules
BAISCS OF THE CHALLENGE & MADATORY RULES
• You must follow technological limitations of that Era.
• No Cheats or Mods made to make the challenge easier allowed.
Being this is a Decades inspired Challenge the use of CC & mods for realism involving historical gameplay is fine. At the end of the day the point is to have fun!
• Choose your sims age & lifespan.
Whether your sim had a family & children prior to the crash is entirely up to you!
• Sleep in a public area or a friends home if you do not own a bed.
Historical Tweak:
During the Great Depression, the prevalence of "slums" or homeless encampments surged due to the housing crisis that plagued people in the early 1930s.
If you opt to invite Sims into your household, take on roommates, or utilize the FOR RENT Landlord ability to rent out beds, you can do so. However, it is imperative that you secure the necessary funds to construct housing for these new Sims.
• You may eat/ make dishes using public spaces or a friends home, however taking food with you is not allowed.
Historical Tweak:
In the tough times of the Great Depression, families were really struggling, which means your Sims' neighbors might not have much food to spare.
If your Sim wants to hit up a neighbor's kitchen for a meal, they gotta flip a coin:
Heads - They can grab a quick meal from the fridge.
Tails - Sorry, no luck. Time to try somewhere else.
So, your Sim might resort to begging if they are unable to feed themselves But hey, it could lead to some interesting stories and maybe even some new pals along the way.
• No selling through household inventory
• No selling through Plopsy - no internet in 1929
• No selling through Retail job due to the unemployment crisis, if you can afford to purchase a retail lot however you may open a retail business.
• You CAN sell items through the Food Stand or Market tables.
●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●~●
GOALS OF THE CHALLENGE
Build a home:
• At least 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, living room, a study ( with a type writer if u have historical CC ), and a outdoor garden area.
MANDATORY STEPS FOR BUILDING A HOME:
In order to build a home you must have completed these steps:
• Reach level 7 Handiness and level 5 gardening before you begin building or placing items outside.
• Have 1 Bedroom with bed, a bathroom with toilet and shower, a living room and kitchen area.
• you must own at least one of these: Fridge or Icebox, sink, stove, stove, counter, table, chair, and couch.
• A blueprint for your house cost $500
HAVE A FAMILY
Find love, and have the opportunity to raise a family despite the hardships of the great depression!
• Get married
• Become a grandparent
MANDATORY STEPS FOR STARTING A FAMILY:
due to the affects of the great depression I feel like it would be unreasonable to expect a FULL HOUSE BUILT before you can start a family, so instead I'm tweaking that a bit.
You don't need a HUGE MANSION by the end of the challenge but a decent house should be expected. the point it escape being forced to live in a shack.
• For every new Sim joining the household, you must ensure there is a dedicated room to accommodate them. This room must be equipped with basic necessities, including a bed, access to a bathroom, and sufficient funds and food to sustain them.
• Max Toddler Skills
• A Child must complete one of the options before becoming a teen:
Reach level 5 in 2 skills with perfect grades or reach level 10 in any skills.
• Teens must complete one of these option before becoming a young adult
Reach level 5 in 2 skills & a part time job or reach level 10 in 2 skills.
• Host a wedding every time a pair of sims get married.
ASPIRATIONS:
• Complete at least one aspiration for your sim and it's spouse
• Complete an Aspiration for each of your sims children.

Midwest Mountaineering, 1971-2023
Outdoor sporting retailer, Midwest Mountaineering, a fixture of the Cedar-Riverside and West Bank neighborhood, will close its doors for good in October.
Rod Johnson opened Midwest Mountaineering in the upstairs of 1408 Hennepin Avenue in 1971, when he was just in his early 20s. An avid mountain climber, kayaker, hiker, and skier, Johnson began buying climbing gear at wholesale prices for himself in 1969, then turned it into a shop. He sold quality climbing, backpacking, camping, snowshoeing and ski touring equipment at discount prices. In 1976 he opened in a larger space at 309 Cedar Avenue and has been there ever since, expanding the space through the years to the 23,000 square feet it currently occupies. Earlier this month, Johnson announced the store would be closing in early October, unable to compete with online retailers, and the building would be put up for sale, promoted to local developers.
And the West Bank goes the way of Dinkytown...

Brisbane Powerhouse’s Kate Gould to head up Adelaide Festival Centre
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/brisbane-powerhouses-kate-gould-to-head-up-adelaide-festival-centre/
Brisbane Powerhouse’s Kate Gould to head up Adelaide Festival Centre
The Brisbane Powerhouse has announced that its CEO and artistic director Kate Gould is departing for a new role as CEO of the Adelaide Festival Centre.
Gould, who has taken the Powerhouse to new heights in her four years at the helm, will move to Adelaide in mid-2025.
The new role will see Gould begin a five-year contract at the iconic Festival Centre in July, taking over from Douglas Gautier AM, who has held the role for 19 years.
Gould’s many achievements
Kate Gould is leaving the Brisbane Powerhouse on excellent terms, having transformed the much-loved arts venue into one of Australia’s major contemporary arts and entertainment precincts.
Brisbane Powerhouse chair Valmay Hill was effusive in her praise for Gould’s initiatives over the past four years.
“On behalf of the Board, I congratulate Kate on the incredible impact she has made at Brisbane Powerhouse – both artistically and in reshaping the organisation,” Hill said.
“Under her leadership, she has secured significant funding to launch new festivals and events that have enriched Brisbane’s cultural landscape,” she said.
“She has introduced innovative year-round ventures, including Vertigo, Australia’s first vertical restaurant, suspended 17 metres above ground; Pleasuredome, a semi-permanent hand-crafted sailcloth venue; Powerhouse Store (P.S.), a maker-led retail space showcasing artisanal creations; and Dendy Powerhouse Outdoor Cinema, offering quality outdoor film experiences with hi-fi headsets.”

Lord Mayor praises Gould
Brisbane’s Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner also praised her achievements.
“I thank Kate for delivering on her dynamic vision for Brisbane Powerhouse, elevating it with landmark annual events and creating more to see and do for residents and visitors,” the Lord Mayor said.
Schrinner said Gould’s accomplishments included Night Feast, a festival of food and art that attracts 160,000 people; the reimagined Melt festival, which has become one of Australia’s premier celebrations of LGBTQIA+ arts and culture; and the introduction of the OHM festival, which showcases innovative music, light and performance.
“Brisbane Powerhouse is a vibrant precinct that now welcomes one million visitors and stages 1,500 performances annually, generating a significant cultural and economic impact for our city,” he said.
“Kate has been an outstanding leader in Queensland’s arts sector, propelling Brisbane Powerhouse to the forefront of Australia’s cultural scene.”
‘It has been a privilege’: Gould
Reflecting on her tenure, Kate Gould said: “It has been a privilege to lead Brisbane Powerhouse during this exciting period of growth.
“I am grateful to Brisbane City Council, the Board, and our exceptional team and partners, who have fearlessly embraced bold ideas and helped bring to life new festivals and events unlike anything the city has seen before,” she said.
Gould said that among many highlights, “seeing 5,500 naked bodies on the Story Bridge for Spencer Tunick’s installation at the inaugural citywide Melt Festival 2024 was unforgettable”.
“I will miss the sparkling river city,” she said.

This building looks like an historic villa, but it was actually built in 2000 in Ketchum, Idaho. On the ground floor is a wonderful store and the residence above is a 3bd, 3ba penthouse. There's also a 1bd, 1ba apt. $9.995M.
Tumblr media
The store is a lovely high end furnishings store.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The retail space takes up 2 floors and it looks like they specialize in area rugs.
Tumblr media
In the residence there's a cozy living room with a raised rustic stone fireplace.
Tumblr media
Not sure if they own the store or just shop there, but the style is the same. The dining room is spacious and has doors to the terrace.
Tumblr media
I'm amazed at how they designed the kitchen to basically camouflage the fact that it's a kitchen. There's even a loveseat beside the island.
Tumblr media
The primary bedroom has a lovely faux finish on the walls.
Tumblr media
The en-suite bath is large and has a nice reproduction vintage tub.
Tumblr media
Roomy family room doubles as a guest room.
Tumblr media
They're showing this small kitchen, so I'm not sure if it's the apt. kitchen or a kitchenette in the main residence.
Tumblr media
From the terrace there's a beautiful view of the mountains.
Tumblr media
This is nice- an outdoor kitchen and built-in stone table.
Tumblr media
There's also a large fountain.
Tumblr media
Closeup of the building's architectural detail.
Tumblr media
From this photo, it looks like the building is attached to another store, like a mini mall.
Tumblr media
The arrow is pointing to a courtyard in the middle of the residence.

do you mind sharing more about the logistical nightmare of growing things this year? i'd love to hear more about it
Oh yeah, basically we have a freshly built range of fancy, brand new greenhouse that is just about finished but it's apparently zoned as purely production space so technically the public shouldn't be allowed in there.
It's going to be our new main production house and place we do seeding, cuttings, baby plants, etc so that the main houses and eventually outdoor area around it can be more aesthetically appealing retail displays that are easier to shop.
But!! This year it's not yet ironed out where everything will be relocated and grown. And the range wasn't ready for the earliest start of spring production. Anything that is grown in the production only house ideally would have a "home" somewhere on the sales floor aka a display where it moves out of the production house when it's ready for sale.
There's also a huge long term plan for the outside sales and display garden area happening that will take. So long to get ready.... Our entire several acre nursery is in the process of moving locations to become a big huge parking lot. The mum field is moving. There will be deer fencing. Patios. Gardens. An absurd amount of work and time that seems unlikely to happen this season
but in the meantime, no one knows when that will happen and also i am.. the main person doing all of the planning of where things grow and move and hang and when for the current growing season. In terms of annuals, hanging baskets, combo planters, perennials, tropicals, herbs, veggies.
And that takes a lot of. Thinking. Planning. Calculating. And recalculating. Then moving everything... having the manpower with the brainpower to do that is a big hurdle and also, there aren't good routes to move things easily right now either.
Converting our current production house to a regular house is also like.... it's so gross. It needs regraded and new benches. We'd need to take out all the production stuff (seed trays, tools, tags, supplies, etc) and find a nice home for it in the new houses. That also means all that stuff won't be immediately accessible from the main houses without going outside and up a hill.
The good thing that when the new production house is done it will be sooooo much easier to do production stuff. The flat filler will be living in there so filling pots will be vastly easier. There's a huge garage door in and out instead of an obnoxious pinch point. There aren't benches so I could be more flexible with aisleways and positioning stuff. Eventually there will be so much hanging basket production in there. There will be a whole separate brand new Dosatron injector for that house and the upper houses.
It's very exciting!!! It's also terrible. I'm tired.
