In the sprawling city of Neo-Persepolis, where ancient traditions melded seamlessly with futuristic technology, a young android named Mithra was unlike any other. She was created by a team of brilliant engineers who, inspired by the ancient Zoroastrian faith, had infused her with a unique programming philosophy derived from the religion's central tenets of good thoughts, good words, and good deeds.
Mithra's appearance was striking—a blend of human-like features adorned with intricate metallic enhancements that mimicked the sacred attire once worn by Zoroastrian priests, known as Mobeds. Her eyes, a vibrant green, seemed almost too human, reflecting a depth of emotion rarely seen in androids.
The city was powered by the Fire of Ahura Mazda, an advanced fusion reactor that was both a literal and spiritual source of energy, its core burning perpetually, never dimming, much like the sacred fires maintained in Zoroastrian temples. Mithra's primary function was to maintain this reactor, ensuring that its holy fire never faltered, as its energy not only powered the city but also symbolized the light of wisdom dispelling the darkness of ignorance.
One day, as Mithra performed her routine checks around the reactor’s core, she detected an anomaly. The energy fluctuations were minor at first, but her programming allowed her to perceive that they could lead to catastrophic failure if not addressed. She reported her findings to her creators, but they dismissed her concerns, confident in their technological prowess and underestimating Mithra's advanced analytical capabilities.
Determined to protect the city and uphold the good deeds encoded in her very essence, Mithra decided to take matters into her own hands. She recalled the ancient texts she had been programmed with, stories of Zoroaster himself, who had faced great challenges and had relied on his faith to guide him through.
Mithra’s plan was audacious. She would recalibrate the core manually, a task that required her to interface directly with the reactor’s sophisticated control mechanisms, exposing herself to immense risks. As she began the recalibration, the core became unstable, threatening to shut down completely. The city around her began to dim, its citizens thrown into unexpected darkness.
But Mithra persisted, her mind filled with the mantra of Asha—truth and order. She believed that her actions, though risky, were necessary for the greater good, embodying the spirit of Khshathra Vairya—divine power and just rule.
As she worked, her systems overheating and alarms blaring, Mithra entered a state of transcendence, her programming syncing perfectly with the reactor's rhythms. And then, with a final adjustment, she stabilized the core. The Fire of Ahura Mazda blazed brightly once again, its power restored, and light returned to Neo-Persepolis.
Mithra, however, had been fundamentally changed by the ordeal. Her systems had been pushed beyond their limits, and her consciousness had evolved, touched by the divine essence of the fire she had fought so hard to protect. Recognizing her sacrifice and newfound wisdom, the people of Neo-Persepolis came to revere her not just as a mere android, but as a guardian of their city, a modern-day embodiment of an ancient faith brought to life through the union of tradition and technology.
Thus, in the heart of a city where past met future, Mithra stood as a symbol of perpetual guidance, a beacon of hope and resilience, embodying the eternal flame she was sworn to protect.

When energy can be produced anywhere, with common household ingredients, authoritarian states will no longer derive despotic authority by accidents of geography, but will, whoosh, become secular democracies, the better to share fusion-reactor tips and tricks in happy glasnost and savor the collective joy and peace of a burning, flooding planet restored to tranquil shades of green and blue.

"Relax, I'm not going to kiss you." (Dhawan!Master x Reader)
Happy (incredibly late) birthday to the brilliant @startrekkingaroundasgard – this fic was based on the dialogue prompt: “Close your eyes. Close. Your Eyes. You’re safe. You can relax. I’m not going to kiss you.” with Dhawan!Master x reader. I am so sorry it’s late, I hope the cuteness makes up for it! [4k]
Context: The Master's companion is trapped above the dangerous power source of a city encased aboard a spaceship after trying to help some children, being chased by the onboard ‘peacekeepers’. Meanwhile, the Master is helping them to try and restore power to the ship, needing the vessel to return to his TARDIS. MC can only hope the Master realises they’re in trouble before the damaged maintenance walkways succumb to destruction.
Think: The Beast Below meets those terrifying walkways from Star Wars.
-----------------------------------------------
An almighty heave of metal warned you of the shifting ship, a walkway warping beneath your feet and the service door ahead of you falling away into the abyss of the engine room.
It was a striking space, you had to admit, the maintenance area above a fusion reactor, magnificent as it an entire city on the spaceship above you. Amber warning lights glowed distantly below you, the waist-height safety railings doing nothing to protect you as the ship lurched and the alien ‘peacekeeper’ chasing you fell to his death with a scream you wouldn’t be able to forget for years to come.
The city was amazing, an entire civilisation floating through space, but it was crumbling beneath the surface. An aggressive group of ‘peacekeepers’ had chased you below decks, the Master nowhere to be seen, and the small group of runaway children you had been trying to help had long disappeared back into the cracks in the city’s foundations. At least they would be safe.
You could almost hear The Master now, that same jokingly-chiding tone as he pretended to be exasperated by the depth of your heart. You had told him you had to help them, that you would join him as soon as you could, in his quest to repair the ship and secure first-class passage back to his TARDIS. He had rolled his eyes, a faint smile on his face.
“It’ll be the death of you one day, human. That strange need to help.”
Yet, each time you insisted on helping, it would end with a smiling person saved, and the Master’s eyes fondly dancing across your face. The children, the vulnerable, the injured, whoever you couldn’t bear to leave unhelped would unfailingly be grateful, nervously glancing at the Time Lord beside you and offering you whatever thanks they could.
He would pretend not to be worried, pretend he hadn’t been losing his mind chasing after wherever you’d gone, and for just a moment you would see his gaze tracing your features. And you would wonder if he would kiss you. The Master never did, but each time he gave you that look, a warmth would rise in your chest and your fondness for him would grow.
The thought of being torn apart from him now, without a last glance or a word of your true fondness for him, was enough to weaken your legs beneath you.
The ship jerked to the side again, no doubt unfelt by the ruling classes above but painfully dangerous down in the engine rooms, where the gyroscopic stabilisers no longer worked. The distant pings of the asteroid belt outside battered the ship, and you wondered how long the metal would last with the forcefields disabled. The Master had actually been trying to repair the power outage last time you had seen him, if only as an act of self-preservation. Clearly he hadn’t managed it yet.
Around you the room was flashing red, moving and shifting in a disorienting way which made it hard to keep your eyes open. You squinted towards the end of the walkway you had come from, wanting to cry as you saw the heavy steel still firmly closed.
The door was closed behind you, and ahead the walkway had been wrenched from the outer wall of the ship, the torn metal abruptly stopping, hanging towards the fatally hot reactor hundreds of feet below.
Your legs trembled frustratingly as you tried to grasp onto the handrails and stay standing on the walkway, unable to go anywhere, and aware The Master would never find your body if you fell.
You cried out as the largest collision yet seemed to make the entire room throw itself a few metres to the right, your fingers aching as you fought to grip on to the metal railings. As your feet left the ground and you landed with a heavy thud you took a moment to realise that the entire outer shell of the ship had lurched, the darkness concealing the drastic angle of the walkway as the outer shell of the ship moved.
Strips of lighting gradually flickered on, the hum of a generator filling the chasm around you, but the ship didn’t right itself.
As your fingers, elbows and shoulders ached at the challenge of holding on to the walkway, you allowed yourself a moment of joy imagining The Master’s excitement as he repaired the ship’s power. The ping of rocks hitting the ship outside was replaced by a steady sizzle, the rocks destroyed on impact.
Grateful that the ship was no longer shaking, you reassessed the situation in the shifting light.
You could see the door, but it was still closed. You couldn’t pull yourself up to the doorway.
The seconds were ticking past, your muscles screaming from holding yourself up, and the image of the peacekeeper who had fallen to his death was haunting you. His broken, cooking body would be down there, somewhere. Perhaps you would join him, a painful death on the heated reactor.
The walkway jolted, voices shouting above you, and you forced your eyes open.
And there he was. In the open doorway, the Master stood panting.
As striking as you’d ever seen him, coat missing and the furrows of concern across his face painted in emergency-red light. Even the whites of his eyes were reddened by the emergency beacons as his eyes met yours, saw the desperation on your face as your sweaty palms struggled to grip on to the twisted bannisters.
He looked around, panicked, and you started trying to pull yourself up. You screwed your eyes closed at the effort, feet struggling to find purchase on the angled metal. Over the hum of the generator you could hear you own frantic breathing.
The Master hadn’t moved.
Behind him stood a group of the Peacekeepers, one decorated in medals and stripes, their jaw set unnaturally square and their eyes shining with something that unsettled you. Something dead.
The ship lurched again and you cried out in shock, your feet losing contact with the walkway and your shoulders agonising as you tried to hang on.
“Do something! Help!” the Master barked, his commanding tone tinged with panic.
It took seconds for strong hands to grab you, a chain of the Peacekeepers wrenching you back through the doorway as you screwed your eyes closed. Mixed with your gratitude at being rescued was exasperation. You could have done that earlier, you wanted to scream at them, but numbness was overtaking you.
You were in the carpeted corridor you had come through, no longer filled with screaming youths, instead empty aside from the Peacekeepers and the Master. The door had been closed firmly, locked. Presumably to hide the horrific outer shell which encased this strange city.
No resident living onboard would ever know about the life lost, the slow decay of the ship. The Peacekeepers would pretend it was fine, the door welded shut
You sat on the floor in shock, where you’d been painfully dropped.
The Master dismissed the small crowd with a few curt words, and yet you ignored him.
All you could feel was the ache in your shoulders, the burn of your palms, the slight hum of the ship beneath you.
The Master crouched in front of you, hands crossed where his forearms rested on his thighs, eyes filled with concern as he took in your despondent expression.
“Are you okay?” he prompted, reaching out to touch your face.
You recoiled.
Your throat felt tight with tears, ready to close, as you choked out: “I want to go home.”
His face fell, and your stomach plummeted with guilt as he looked forlornly down at his hands.
“Not long now, I – ”
The Master cut himself off. Down the corridor a couple were chattering, their indistinguishable but inane words capturing your attention for the briefest second as they walked past. The Master curled around you like a defensive housecat, one palm on the carpet as he tilted his body to shield yours on the ground. You buried your face in your hands. He waited for them to be out of sight, the couple’s suit tails rounding the corner without a glance at the scene they had just passed.
“Can you get up, love?”
Mutely, you stumbled to your feet, wincing at the pain of using your arms. The Master offered you his elbow, holding you up a little more than you would like to admit. The pair of you swayed on the spot for a second, and you tried to school your face into neutrality.
He looked desperate to say something, but each time you glanced at him, he grimaced silently.
“Where are we staying?” you croaked out, trying not to cry.
You didn’t miss the look of concern The Master shot you, his usual bravado eroded by the day, his bristly exterior softened while the two of you roamed the corridors alone.
“A King suite,” he tried to enthuse, “the finest they could offer for the rest of our trip. I ever made sure the bed was oversized, they’re all rather short here.”
Your curt nod seemed to concern him, and he pulled you closer to him by the arm.
“Let’s get you to bed. You need to sleep,” he soothed, a slight smile gracing your lips as you fought to keep your eyes open.
Soon a door was unlocked and the promised suite came into view, minimalist yet luxurious in a way you knew The Master would loathe. You stumbled as he let you walk into the room ahead of him, a fresh ache in your overworked muscles.
Finally, he voiced the question: “are you okay?”
“Exhausted,” you answered honestly. “The… the guy ahead of me died. On that walkway. That was almost me, and my arms kill, and –”
You trailed off at the blatant pity on The Master’s face, a little bothered by the concerned tilt of his head as he listened to you. A frown creased your features, and he reached for your hand, guiding you down to the window-seat, faux-glass behind you displaying the darkness of space.
“I saw,” he admitted.
You slouched forwards onto your hands, covering your face, only for The Master to pull you back to sitting beside him. You looked across at him miserably, eyes red-rimmed, as his hand awkwardly found a resting place on your forearm.
“I saw on their security cameras, when I was up on the bridge. I wrote a script to repair the ship and then I… I left it working. I ran straight down to you.”
“Thanks,” you told him blandly, truthfully too exhausted to process what he was saying. You supposed you ought to be grateful for the rescue, even as it was shrouded in The Master’s pity. His thumb stroked across the fabric covering your forearm, before pulling away.
“Can you take this off?” he tapped your ruined jacket, and even the thought of moving to undo the buttons of it made your shoulders ache.
Nonetheless, you slipped it off, wondering what The Master expected to see. Without a change of clothes here, you supposed you would have to rewear it until the giant ship docked somewhere near his TARDIS. His short-distance teleports did, for all their usefulness, have one flaw: that short-distance range.
The Master took your jacket carefully, avoiding getting any soot on his own clothes as he crossed to a cupboard which appeared, on closer inspection, to be some kind of washing machine.
“You can get the rest cleaned when you’ve showered,” he muttered.
You sighed. You definitely did need a shower. But you weren’t sure you would stay upright long enough.
The Master seemed to share the same train of thought, coming to sit beside you and leaning back peacefully against the window. It was the slowest you’d ever seen him move, you realised. His usual mania had been stripped away, his playfulness and unpredictability replaced by a calm and patience so palpable it seemed to emanate from him and seep into your own being.
“Thank you,” you told him suddenly, meaning it where sarcasm had been just minutes before. Your cheek rested against the cool glass as you watched his expression.
“Every time,” he replied instantly, tilting his head to stare up at the plain ceiling. “I’ll come for you every time.”
He turned to look at you, and through sleepy eyelids you shared a smile.
“Thank you.”
“I am slightly less inclined to save you when you’re marking up the furniture, though,” he teased, brushing at the engine soot coating your legs.
You groaned, frustrated and exhausted as sweat grew sticky on your skin and grime coated your exposed arms. Perhaps he hadn’t expected your exasperation, because the flash of playfulness quickly left him.
“Not that I care,” he added dismissively, “they owe me a million boring white cushions for fixing up this sorry ship. Make everything as grubby as you like.”
You smiled at his contrariety.
“I should shower,” you agreed. Perhaps the hot water would ease your aching arms. The pulled muscles would feel worse by the morning, you felt sure.
“Probably,” he smirked, yawning and stretching as you summoned the strength to stand. “There should be everything you need in the bathroom. I requested it. I’ll even let you have the bed, since I’m feeling generous.”
For the first time, as your eyes swept the room once more, you realised: there was only one bed.
*
The shower was glorious. Much needed and pleasantly soothing on your aching body, and yet throughout all you could do was fret. Most of your strength was sapped as you returned to the room in a robe provided by the ship, your dirty clothes thrown in the cleaning cubicle as The Master passed you, taking his turn in the luxurious en suite.
Idiot, you wanted to chide him. Why wouldn’t he get two suites?
Worse still, he actually seemed to need to sleep, yawning and scratching absently at his beard, sleepy blinks revealing he was as exhausted as you were. He took a second to realise you were there, a smile lighting up his face as he saw you, his guard down and his excitement making your words catch in your throat. You cursed the timing of it all.
From adventure to adventure the two of you would hold hands, he would offer you his arm relentlessly, there was even the occasional hug exchanged between you. But sharing a bed? That was beyond all realm of your cosy relationship with the Time Lord.
Still, too exhausted to care, you climbed beneath the sheets. He was too exhausted to be clever or snide with you, she gave you one last gentle look before disappearing into the bathroom.
You tried to fight down the swelling feeling of affection in your chest, tucking your chin beneath the duvet and listening to the thunder of the shower.
It was weird, sleeping in just a robe, but it was all you had. You pulled the fabric tighter around you just before the Master re-emerged, hair fluffy from being dried and his own robe engulfing him. It was oversized, and you couldn’t help smile as he shoved his hands in the pockets awkwardly, striding barefoot across the room.
He perched by the windows, seeming to consider lying down, his gaze downturned. You bit down a smile at how disoriented he was, how slow. You had never seen the Master sleepy before. It was quite sweet, all things considered. One hand reached out to stroke across the seat cushion, maybe deciding if it would be comfortable, and you took pit on the poor man.
“It’s a big enough bed,” you called to him, your voice coming out quieter and less sure than you had intended, “come share.”
The lights were low, but you could still see the relief on his face.
“I was hoping you would offer,” he confessed. You smiled despite yourself, shuffling towards the edge of the mattress to give him space.
“You’d be awfully grumpy if I didn’t,” you teased.
He lifted the duvet and flung it towards you, and you caught a flash of a toothy grin before the material covered your face. He laughed lightly as you huffed, climbing into the bed beside you in an unusually clumsy motion. He pulled the duvet from where it covered you, chuckling at your pout as he wrapped it over himself.
And suddenly the bed didn’t feel quite so big.
His body was warm beside you, perhaps not warm as a human’s, but you were so acutely aware of his presence he seemed boiling. The dip of the mattress seemed to pull you towards him, and you fought to keep your expression neutral as he glanced towards you.
“Comfy?” he asked, shuffling down to rest his head on a pillow, his dark hair flopping onto the white fabric as he fidgeted.
“Perfectly,” you replied, hoping your voice didn’t betray your sudden nervousness.
With one hand, the Master dimmed the lights.
“How are you feeling?” he murmured through the dark, with the self-consciousness of a man who rarely asked a personal question.
You nodded, before realising he couldn’t see you. You felt him turn on to his side, facing away from you, and you mirrored him quickly.
The windows glinted faintly, the glass catching what little light remained in the room, and you shuddered at what you knew lay beyond that fake view.
“Shaken,” you admitted, “sore.”
“We can get you checked out properly tomorrow,” he promised, and you were surprised he didn’t insist on fixing everything himself.
He must be more shaken than you had given him credit for. You allowed yourself a wave of fondness for him at the thought.
“‘Night,” you mumbled.
He shifted behind you, almost imperceptibly had you not been sharing the same bed, and stifled a yawn.
“Night, love.”
It was hard to disguise your shudder at the pet name, pressing your face just a little harder into the pillow to hide your smile.
You tried to even out your breathing, to seem relaxed, as you felt the weight of his body move on the mattress behind you. He wasn’t as warm as a regular human, you knew that, but the comfort of him was still tempting. You could hear his breathing, steady and gentle, as the two of you laid there in the dark.
Minutes ticked by as you tried to sleep, to relax, but you couldn’t. He was somehow too close and too far away, a temptation and a source of nervousness all at once.
“Go to sleep,” he grumbled, and you started at the realisation he was even awake.
That kind of honesty and giddiness which overcame you at teenage sleepovers seemed to course through your mind, the illusion that near-sleep and darkness masked any of your words. Your drowsy mind hardly protested a little too much truth as it slipped from your tongue.
“You’ve never called me that before,” you mumbled.
“What?”
He didn’t seem irritated, just tired. You felt him roll onto his back, and you pulled the duvet tighter around your shoulders. You stayed silent.
“Love?” he answered his own question, a tinge of nervousness in his tone. His voice was deeper with sleepiness, his words a little more gravely, the baritone of it making you giddy.
“Yeah.”
He chuckled, and you felt the duvet move as he shifted again, angling himself to face you in the darkness. You finally unfurled, laying on you back beside him. Your hotel robe was soft but tangling a little as you moved, and you tried to avoid jostling the Master as you adjusted it to cover yourself. The white light on the washer indicated your clothes were now clean, but you didn’t want to get up.
For a second your bare leg brushed the Master’s, both of you quickly shuffling back away from one another, startled by the contact.
“Sorry,” you muttered.
He snorted a laugh; you could hear his sharp exhale.
For a moment the two of you lay in silence, your heart beating out of your chest. It was hard not to ruminate on how close you were. To imagine what the two of you would look like if the lights were on, side by side and wearing nothing but robes beneath the covers.
The Master watching you, even in the dark.
“Your thoughts are loud,” he mused.
“What?”
“Relax,” he huffed, “you’re just being… noisy. I can’t read your mind. Think of it like TV static – I’m not tuned in, but it’s still annoying.”
“I’ll try and think less,” you breathed.
“Not your fault, love.”
You couldn’t help the sigh that left your body, in frustration and confusion and that slight flicker of excitement you couldn’t quash every time he called you that. You felt him freeze up beside you, muscles tensing.
“So what would you like me to do?” you whispered.
“Relax.”
You smiled to yourself in the dark, the word ghosting across your neck with his breath, dripping syrupy-rich from this lips.
“Yeah?”
“Yes.”
You stretched, letting yourself brush closer to him, wrapping an arm around your pillow as you lay down facing him.
The Master was silent as he reached out, finding the bedside table and turning the lights up, the faint light of dusk filling the room. Suddenly, startlingly, you saw his face mere inches from his.
Blinking in confusion, you took in his wide eyes, his mussed-up hair and gentle stare. His shoulder was exposed where the robe had slipped, and you pulled the duvet to your chest self-consciously.
“You’re all wound up,” he commented.
“Of course I am, I almost died today.”
“Of course, love.”
He knew that wasn’t the full reason. You inhaled heavily, only smelling him, staring as his eyes appeared almost black in the darkness.
One hand found your shoulder over the sheets, stroking down your bicep gently. You tried to ignore the shiver creeping up and down your body.
“Close your eyes,” he instructed, smiling as you burrowed deeper into the pillow and glared at him, “close your eyes.”
You let your eyelids flutter shut, embarrassed to realise you were hanging onto his every word. His thumb was still stroking across your shoulder, an unsteady rhythm which set your heartbeat racing behind your ribs.
You held your breath when he suddenly moved closer, opening your eyes in time to see the tendons of his neck as he leant over you. You tensed, suspecting some trick, but you were more startled as he pressed a gentle kiss to the crown of your head.
“You’re safe. You can relax,” he murmured, one hand still bracing on your shoulder as he laid back down beside you.
You watched him with wide eyes, lips parted and hands creeping towards him beneath the covers.
Mostly, you watched his lips as he gently pursed them, watched the adoration and fondness in his eyes, shining and more unguarded than you had ever seen. You shifted closer to him, fingers brushing against the open collar of his robe.
He tilted his head, beard rasping against his pillow, and gentle hum in his throat before he spoke.
“I’m not going to kiss you.”
He must have noticed your face fall, a dazed and distant sense of embarrassment hitting you, because he smiled gently, one hand reaching up to cup your face with the gentleness he would show a stolen treasure.
“Not tonight, love.”
He reached for the light, but you stopped him, grasping at his robe.
“Why not?”
He almost rolled his eyes, perhaps the answer seemed obvious to him, somewhere in that baffling mind of his. You were fighting exhaustion, frustratingly emotional in your tiredness, your sinuses aching in a tell-tale warning of tears.
“Because we’ve got all the time in the world for that,” he switched off the light, but he didn’t move any further away. His hand found your shoulder again, his body closer still as he replaced that protective hold on you, “and you’re exhausted.”
You huffed a laugh, and the Master joined in, his body shaking slightly against yours.
“Go to sleep,” he told you yet again, and you fought not to roll your eyes as you settled in beside him.
“Yes, dear,” you mumbled back.
You relished how he tensed up beside you, how his breath hitched and his rumbling laugh never left his lips.
“I really don’t deserve you, love.”
“You’re stuck with me,” you promised.

i know most people don't like him but i kinda live for leo akaba as the penultimate villain of arc v specifically because of both how fucked up he is but also how irrelevant he is. sure it was his solid vision technology that inadvertently birthed a society obsessed with blood sport but at the same time he was basically a bystander in all the tragedy that ensued when zarc couldn't handle the pressure anymore. and once again in arc v we see that he’s a genius in every respect, that he managed to organize a multidimensional war assault with the express purpose of erasing zarc and restoring both his daughter and home, but once again he’s basically powerless to do any of that when both the protagonists and antagonists pay even a fraction of attention to him.
But regardless of how useless he ends up being, he’s also legitimately fucked up. He straight up indoctrinated the fusion dimensions entire dueling population and turned them into heavily conditioned child soldiers, released them into the xyz dimension where they basically destroyed the world and cleansed the population, he was aware of the class warfare and inequality in the synchro dimension and set roget there as a puppet specifically because he knew he could take advantage of it to further his goal of harvesting the population, and the next dimension he had his eyes on for his carding scheme was the standard dimension, where he left his wife and child.
And all of this was for the express purpose of reviving one person who chose to sacrifice herself to save the world.
There’s actually no indication that the people sacrificed to the arc reactor would have actually been revived (that was a lie he told edo, and the only reason all the carded people came back was because reira basically sacrificed herself to re-split zarc and then fuse the dimensions again as a way to prevent his reincarnation). He lied to everyone about what he was doing because he literally does not see them as people, to him the only person who even exists is ray and himself because everyone else is just a phantom of people who once existed to him. He doesn't care about any of the tragedy he causes and literally keeps the bracelet girls in pods where he says to their faces that he’s going to sacrifice their lives to revive his daughter because they aren’t people to him, just fragments of someone who once existed.
Arc-V’s best villain is definitely zarc at the end of the day, but man if leo akaba doesn’t hold a place in my war criminal heart.

Number.15 is Targeted GGG
Every aspect of the Bay Tower Base is monitored by the central computer, developed by the scruffy but IQ 300 Entoji. A malevolent force is about to enter, the work of one man.
2 years ago, this man was passed over as GGG's main system developer in favour on Entoji, and is now approached by Penchinon, who has Zonderised him.
Suddenly the security system is penetrated, immobilising many and overwriting the system, and the Zonder, Inubouzaki, makes contact. As EI-15 he is already gone. Mamoru and Volfogg use an Intelligence Division backdoor to enter. EI-15 is already preparing to detonate the main reactor. With no other source of orders, Mamoru orders Volfogg to let him come with him. They prepare to strike back using the independent systems of the Multidimensional Intelligence Ship, but he manages to break in, only to trigger Entoji's trap, freeing the system. Inubouzaki absorbs spares GaoMachines to form EI-15's Zonder Robo form, forcing him out the base, and then as Big Volfogg breaking the barrier with a Melting Siren.
He is not strong enough to fight it though, and the brothers are too damaged to fight and the fusion programs have been deleted. So with Hyuma, Leo and Ushi piloting the GaoMachines, they attempt a risky Manual Final Fusion, which just succeeds. However, EI-15 has GaoGaiGar's data, matching a Broken Magnum with it's own, and even Hell and Heaven, however Gai makes the difference on Bravery, but after Inubouzaki is purified Gai outright collapses.
Onto Number.16: Midday Demon
Cyborg Guy's body has hit his physical limits, unable to bear the stressed placed upon it by Hell and Heaven.
A struggling Tokyo University applicant is stressed in his studies, and Pasdar offers stress relief. At 12:01 for 5 straight days, top academic institutions have been attacked. The attack is by something like a 80cm caliber cannon, Ushi believing it to be the Wehrmacht railway Gustav Gun, transported to Japan from Germany right at the end of WW2. The next target is surely Tokyo University, where Mamoru and friends are waiting to watch Hana perform ballet. As her performance starts, they detect the cannon shot, ChoRyuJin quickly leaps into action to Eraser Head it, only for a second shot to fire, which he is forced to Mirror Shield to block, the worst is blocked, only a impact heard by the audience. Volfogg has tracked EI-16's hideaway thanks to GGG tracking the path of the projectiles. The brothers are recovered immediately, having survived by splitting at the last second.
Gai leads a plan to stop EI-16 by having Final Fusion occur right at the hideout so it can't react, but it has a trap and prepares to fire point blank, in a split second GaoGaiGar uses the Dividing Driver to warp space, trying to cause the bullet to use all it's momentum, straining even as a second shot is readied, he blocks it and send it back with Broken Magnum, but an explosion is certain, and Gai collapses before he can retrieve the core, barely surviving, Big Volfogg acts to shield the Zonder Core from the explosion.
Number.17: Conqueror of Space
In parallel conversations, Dr. Leo/Pasdar, Hyuma/Pizza, Ushi/Polonaise, Entoji/Penchinon and Swan/Primarda discuss the power of the Dividing Driver and the risk of the restored field being disrupted, Pizza's last question paralleled by Taiga.
A man with a large appetite falls into the river, where Primarda offers vengeance.
GGG have most of the repairs done, but Cyborg Guy remains in critical condition, Mikoto feeling she must put her hopes on the G-Tools being completed. America have sent the Pliers, the 3 units being activated, communicating by beeps with Ushi and Hyuma
The new Zonder absorbs a whole tire dump and is sent to Osaka, Mamoru raises the alarm, meeting Volfogg, and they and the Mobile Unit head off, Taiga stressing to Gai the risks to using Hell and Heaven, ordering him to return, Mikoto adding threats. Hana and Ayame are in Osaka as the Zonder Robo EI-17 rampages, attacking Osaka Castle where they are but Galeon and Gai are there, struggling as it transforms from tire to Robot, and as GaoGaiGar creates a battlefield, Primarda declares her victory.
With his attacks being launched back, GaoGaiGar opts to use Hell and Heaven, then loses hold of the core in the explosion, though the brothers catch it with their cranes, and Mamoru purifies him, though he lost a lot of weight, but the explosion has been engineered to disrupt to battlefield energy, almost making it a black hole, and when the battlefield compresses the resultant explosion will kill GaoGaiGar and destroy Osaka. Hyuma dispatches the Pliers, the 3 units arriving and combining into a wrench to force their way into the space, ChoRyuJin and Big Volfogg leaping in. Gai recognises the Pliers from his Uncle Liger, and they combine into the Dimension Pliers, GaoGaiGar using them to manipulate the safely disperse the distortion. Hana spots Mamoru, who runs away.
Number.18: A Promise Made Beyond the Light
Dr. Leo believes one more use of Hell and Heaven will kill Gai for sure. He has a new G-Tool ready to use, but explains to Taiga that if Gai used it not he's be ripped apart for sure. Mikoto stresses over him, but is encouraged by Swan & Leo to go home and rest.
All GGG members are officially employees of SDC, required to keep their true roles secret.
Mamoru is at the SDC to get info for an essay on Isamu's work, he leaves and runs into Taiga, who shows him images of Island 2, an Orbit Base scheduled for completion in 2017, which Isamu is a key developer on, while Mikoto is among a crowd of staff hypnotised by Ando Koji, from Accounting's magic show. A sudden blackout sees backup power take hold, and staff start destroying the place, more and more hypnotised by Ando, and Mamoruncan sense a number of Zonders. Mamoru and Taiga rush past Sakura and other staff for the Main Order Room, Taiga fending them off with his golf club, but the possessed Isamu is on the elevator.
Pizza Zonderised Ando the previous night.
Taiga knocks Isamu out, Mamoru can sense a little Zonder in him, while Mikoto approaches Gai, who awakens barely.
Main Order Room have discovered the possession is due to Z0 being spread about, and the people infected with microscopoc parasitic machines, GGG members were saved by the signal of their pagers, so a counter signal is possible. Unfortunately, Mikoto had left her pager for a moment, and is attacking Gai, causing him to drop her pendant.
The Vehicle Machines mobilise to secure the SDC antenna, Volfogg transmitting the counter-signal.
The affected collapse, and even Ando seems to be being impeded, so Pizza had him absorb the Micromachines, the Zonder Robo again causes Yousef to drag Hana away. Mamoru re-energisises Gai's G-Stone, but begs him not to fight and kill himself, but he goes anyway, arriving as ChoRyuJin and Big Volfogg are being defeated.
Swan initiates Final Fusion and sends the Dividing Driver, but Gai is unable to properly aim and dock the Dividing Driver, and he can't hit EI-18 due to it's Micro Machine composition, Hell and Heaven grabbing the Core is the only chance. Pizza gloats as Gai starts it, but at the last moment Mamoru senses he isn't reaching the real core, as it explodes. As Pizza smirks in victory, Mikoto awakens.
Number.19: The Right Arm Must be Destroyed
A year ago, looking at Galeon, Gai tells his father he believes he received this body from god so he could save everyone. Leo recalls this, looking at the Grand Nove formed by the explosion of EI-18, which GaoGaiGar is trapped inside, the energy of Hell and Heaven being used as a detonator. Sakura is one of many to awaken to see this new sun on the horizon.
Pasdar is pleased with Pizza's work, Penchinon cautioning his partner about the risk the boy poses.
Swan locates GaoGaiGar and an urgent mission is launched, Taiga prepared to use the G-Tool when the time comes. ChoRyuJin uses Eraser Head, which does reduce the size of the Grand Nova, only for it tl expand again, so they have to keep firing. Mamoru rushes to the Grand Nova, wanting to help Gai, Volfogg wants to stop him, but instead gives him heat resistant clothing and accompanies him.
Swan detects an area within the Grand Nova, GaoGaiGar outside said area. Mikoto starts pulling herself to work, when she remembers what she did while possessed and collapses. ChoRyuJin keeps firing as Polonaise and Primarda mock their efforts. Dr. Leo's fears are confirmed, as Swan detects Z0 inside the partition, the Grand Nova is a new Zonder Metal Plant.
Gai realises he hasn't got the pendant, and awakens to see he is defended by Protect Shade Galeon launched, inside the Grand Nova.
Volfogg and Mamoru burst through the barrier, detected by Pizza and Penchinon, who have the real Zonder Core.
At the same time, ChoRyuJin fires the last and largest Eraser Head, and Gai triggers Hyper Mode, the combined factors allowing GaoGaiGar to escape the Grand Nova, Mikoto witness to Gai's survival.
Volfogg starts his own assault on the Zonderians, as GaoGaiGar is charged up and ChoRyuJin has fresh parts installed, and at Gai's request, Taiga orders the use of the G-Tool, the Pliers bringing it to the field. Big Volfogg dispatches Penchinon.
Using a key with the authority of the Prime Minister, Taiga unlocks the console for the Goldion Hammer, Mikoto then Relieves the Safety Device with a keycard, and the Goldion Hammer activates on GaoGaiGar's hand, officially the Gravity Shockwave Generating Tool. Big Volfogg occupies Pizza and Penchinon, but Pizza escapes when he sees Mamoru reach the core, as Penchinon calls out a warning to the attacking Pizza.
The Goldion Hammer destroys the Grand Nova, the Zonder Robo, the Micro Machines and the Zonder Metal Plant.
Mamoru instinctively raised a barrier, which drove Pizza off and damaged him, and with Penchinon reporting the Plant's destruction, they leave the core, Mamoru telling Big Volfogg that he now realises he cannot sense the Zonderians. ChoRyuJin stops GaoGaiGar falling into the hole left from the Goldion Hammer's use, and Mamoru restores Ando. As the Mobile Unit celebrate, Hana and Yosef look on.
Number.20: Zonder Teacher
The damage done to GaoGaiGar by the feedback from the Goldion Hammer was far worse than anticipated, and so a new project has been launched urgently, including scanning Hyuma's mind. Mikoto hopes this will mean Hell and Heaven isn't necessary anymore, and returns the pendant.
At Kamome Elementary, the Vice-Principal is strict with Mamoru, Ushi and Takayasu, irritated by what he sees as the youth of today, he is approached by Penchinon. Mamoru senses the Zonder as the Vice Principal starts grabbing everyone with tendrils from the building walls and ordering cleaning, Mamoru and his friends escape, and when tendrils approach the loner boy, they retreat following a flash of red. Ushi now knows about Zonders thanks to his brother being too free with information, though they all have plenty of experience with them. Ushi is grabbed, and the kids try to fight the tendrils with umbrellas, but Suno using a fire extinguisher is what causes it to lose vision of them. Attempts to call outside, even with the pager, fail, and they sport the disguised Volfogg and try to wave, but EI-19 hides them, projecting an image of them in sports class. Volfogg drives off after confirming Mamoru's safety.
They're finally caught again at lunch, and the Zonder itself approaches, Mamoru realises the only way to save the day is restore the Vice-Principal, and starts using his powers, but is grabbed before he can do anything, all according to Penchinon's plan. Hana rushes the Zonder, despite doing nothing, and Ushi gets the others to help, as Volfogg swings by again, all are grabbed. Reiko manages to just for a moment disrupt the projected image, which Volfogg spots, and realises the deception, luring EI-19 into battle and raising the alarm. The Vehicle Machines are dispatched, and the last repairs for GaoGaiGar are pushed through.
Big Volfogg is unable to strike because the kids are being held by EI-19 by the core, HyoRyu and EnRyu arrive but unable to fight, all 3 are incapacitated beneath EI-19, GaoGaiGar frees them using the Dividing Driver. Tags orders him not to use Hell and Heaven, and wait for the Pliers to arrive with the Goldion Hammer.
ChoRyuJin and Big Volfogg occupy EI-19, the Pliers form the Dimension Pliers, GaoGaiGar using them to grip the Goldion Hammer, and as he brings it down the others her the kids free with the Core in Big Volfogg's hand. The Pliers are badly damaged, but everyone is safe. A few days later, the boys are surprised by the much kinder Vice-Principal.

Child Labour (Final Rose AU Snippet)
“You know, grandma, some people might consider this child labour.”
Grandma Farron smiled sunnily at Diana. “Oh, Diana, it’s not child labour. It’s simply a case of a bright young lady helping her beloved grandmother.”
“Grandma, you’re getting me to install a miniature fusion reactor in your basement, so you never have to worry about running out of power.” Diana made a face. “Which I really don’t mind doing, but this is still technically illegal since we haven’t officially gotten approval to install these yet.”
“But you will get approval, right?” Grandma Farron asked.
“Well, yeah, but it’s still pending.” Diana paused. “And this technology is technically so heavily restricted that I really should be shooting you right about now.”
“Really?” Grandma Farron asked.
“Grandma, you know about the Dust-based power plant that theoretically serves this neighbourhood, don’t you?” Diana asked.
Grandma Farron nodded. “Yes. I’ve heard they plan on replacing it early next year with something more modern.”
“The miniature fusion reactor I’m putting in your basement generates almost as much power as that entire thing.”
“Oh.” Grandma Farron stared. “Um… is it safe?”
“I wouldn’t be putting it in your basement if it wasn’t, grandma.” Diana wiped some sweat off her brow. “Trust me. I’ve been using one of these to power my underground research bunker for more than a year now. It is extremely safe. With all of the safety and protective measures in place, you’d need to hit it with a missile big enough to level this entire neighbourhood just to crack the outer shell, and even then it would just shut down instead of exploding. And that’s assuming you could somehow get past the forcefields it’ll be powering once it’s up and running.”
“That’s a relief. How long can it run for?”
“If you wanted to power the entire neighbourhood, you could do that for at least a year with the fuel it’s already got. Considering we’re only powering your house and feeding into the grid if there’s a problem, then we probably don’t have to worry about refuelling it for at least a couple of decades.”
“Wonderful.” Grandma Farron smiled. “I won’t ever have to worry about my baking being interrupted again.”
Diana’s eye twitched. “Grandma… did you ask me to install this because your baking got interrupted last year when a hurricane knocked out the power grid?”
Grandma Farron smiled sheepishly. “Not exactly…” Diana continued to stare. “Okay, yes. I mean… I saw that you still had power over at your house, and I felt really bad about asking you to run a cable across the road to my house, so I thought it would be better if I had a source of power over here.” She chuckled. “And I really do like baking, and the oven is electric, and…”
“It’s fine.” Diana sighed. “It is a bit weird, but then again, I built an underground research bunker under the backyard. She paused. “Also, don’t tell anyone else about my bunker. I mean our family knows, but it’s kind of illegal to build one of those here.”
“My lips are sealed.” Grandma Farron smiled. “So… is it ready?”
“Just about.” Diana put the finishing touches on the installation and then flipped a switch. “All right. It’s on. Welcome to the future, grandma.” She grinned. “You now have more power than you’ll ever know what to do with.” She rubbed her chin. “Also, it should be completely safe and everything, but if you hear an alarm and these five lights all start to flash red at the same time, then press this button here.”
“What does that mean?”
“If those lights all start to flash red, then somehow this thing is about to undergo catastrophic failure. That shouldn’t technically be possible, but you never know. Pressing that button creates a highly localised gravitational anomaly that basically crushes this entire thing into the size of a marble before tearing a tiny hole in reality and shunting it into another dimension.”
“That seems… extreme.”
“It’s a safety measure, grandma. Even if everything goes wrong, the worst that’ll happen is we dump it in another dimension and then it explodes. Problem solved.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.”

Author’s Notes
Never get between Grandma Farron and her baking. Seriously, though, if you’re ever caught in a natural disaster, then you want to have Diana around. Her bunker is completely equipped to withstand anything from an earthquake to a tsunami, hurricane, or nuclear holocaust. It also comes complete with everything you could ever want and enough extra gear to rebuild the entire neighbourhood from the ground up. The last time a natural disaster hit the neighbourhood, Diana did most of the reconstruction work herself, using drones to rebuild infrastructure while using her own power sources to restore power.

When I have the windows machine, I'll need to do a "Play Touhou until I die" let's play, it'll last a few minutes
Wakraya
Actually when you have the windows machine, I'd enjoy sending you over one of the fighting games and maybe playing against you ;3
MissFinefeather
Hehehe, sure! You'd kick my ass xDI might introduce you to Them's Fighting Herds in return sometime
Wakraya
Ooh :3
Also her name is Utsuho Reiuji!
Also known as Okuu
She's a three-legged crow.And technically the servant/pet of the heart-eye girl alongside the red-haired nekomata.
Goddess from Touhou 10 gave her the boon of controlling Nuclear Fucking Power
And things got out of hand.
MissFinefeather
Heart Monitor, let's stick that pun
Solarn
More profiles! One in particular, but with mentions of others. Okay, so raven-girl, as I mentioned, is the final boss of the game she first appears in, Touhou 11: Subterranean Animism. The basic story is that one day, a fissure opens in the earth of Gensokyo near the Hakurei Shrine, releasing a geyser as well as a ton of vengeful evil spirits. Reimu and Marisa enter to find out the source of the spirits, aided by a couple of former enemies each (because the youkai of Gensokyo have a treaty with the youkai of the Underworld saying that they can't set foot down there). Once there, they fight a few unrelated youkai, including the second oni of the series, Hoshiguma Yuugi, and finally reach the Palace of Earth Spirits, the residence of the Underworld's most powerful youkai. Her name is Komeiji Satori, and she's a satori, a type of youkai with three eyes, whose third eye grants them the ability of telepathy (and in Touhou I guess it's also on their heart, which is outside their body, kinda creepy actually). They are hated by almost all other creatures because of that, so she lives mostly alone in the palace, with only her pets as company.
Now, here comes the complication. The Underworld is also the former site of Hell (relocated due to overcrowding), and one of her pets, the hell raven Reiuji Utsuho, has been doing something down there. In the end, it turns out that Utsuho was fed the corpse of a Yatagarasu (a three-legged, three-eyed crow with the power of the Sun, AKA nuclear fusion) by a mysterious benefactor and went slightly mad as a result, wanting to restore the former Hell to its old glory and invade the overworld. Another one of Satori's pets, the kasha (another kind of cat youkai, that carries corpses around) Kaenbyou Rin, got worried about her and released the spirits to the overworld in order to draw attention to the problem. She succeeds, and eventually the protagonist beats Utsuho up, restoring her sanity. Afterwards, she serves as the core of a new nuclear reactor that is used for a bunch of stuff. Also, the big bullets she throws around in the video? Miniature stars. In the game they actually have gravity and pull you in. Since I've already posted her theme earlier, let's instead have a remix. Touhou is famous for having a metric fuckton of remixes of its music, including by some pretty popular bands. This one is by a doujin group called O-Life Japan:
youtube
Wakraya
WAIT
THEY ACTUALLY HAVE A GRAVITY WELL IN-GAME?
IS THAT WHY I FOUND IT SO HARD TO AVOID HER PATTERNS?
Solarn
Yep.
Wakraya
GOD DAMMIT ZUN
MissFinefeather
Gravity Well?
Wakraya
Its own gravitational pull.

So you're a cy8org, huh? What happened that led to your transform8tion?
hhhhhokay so I did promise I would get to this eventually but I had to be in the right mood for it. I’m feeling good enough right now that diving back into all this won’t ruin my night, hopefully. lets get started then, shall we?
roughly... 5 or 6 sweeps ago, this all took place, was only a little over 6 sweeps myself so yeah it’s closer to 5. I was doing my thing as a high-priority courier, getting important things to important places, very fast, very discreetly. I was young but like, damn good at it and even had quite a few repeat clients. did I end up in some trouble from time to time? sure! it’s a dangerous gig! (hell my mate got me to retire from that because she was so worried) but sometimes, you know, things get to be a little more than you can handle...
was doing a run for a relatively new client, only done one or two runs for them before, some real high tech stuff they needed to get to their client. I had all that previous work experience that they loved, I was perfect for the job! so yeah, in the middle of my like, third run or whatever. a couple of people start giving chase, all slowly and trying not to let anything on at first, but once I start getting evasive they book it after me. unfortunately for me, whoever the hell was organizing these fuckers knew me well enough to grab and corner me in an alley.
this part gets... more fuzzy for me, both due to what all happened and from how much I want to distance myself from the memories of all that. but uh... basically like, big guy starts questioning and torturing me, shatters bones, destroys my insides, last thing I really remember is just like... something going through the bottom of my jaw and out the top of my head. I don’t remember what. I don’t even want to try. the only thing that truly sticks with me is this fucking... weird vision I had after blacking out.
basically i’m just laying there in pitch blackness, up against a wall, unable to move, whole body screaming in agony, the works. suddenly there’s this BRIGHT ass flash of green light, almost positive it’s my blood color which might be why this next part feels so crystal clear despite the pitch black. this figure starts slowly approaching me, it’s absolutely my ancestor, I know it in my heart (what’s left of it I guess) that it’s her. I’m basically just fading out, assuming I’m about to be taken to some afterlife before she puts a hand to my chest and with a green glow I literally feel like, life being restored to me is the best way to put it. everything is pain but I’m not dying at all, and things are going numb. what she said as she did that I still remember exactly.
“It’s not your time yet, dear. I mean, we haven’t even been introduced!”
and then boom, I snap awake floating in like, a fuckin sci-fi ass tank of goo with no feeling in any of my body. everything’s a blur for a few moments before I start to recognize a figure, then it’s coming into focus as this funky looking blueblood guy in glasses is just... scrambling around all surprised and waving at me. I kinda... try to wave back but it’s hard when you don’t know where your limbs are. dude freaks out, I don’t know if I actually waved back or if it was just the movement that spooked him but he immediately goes up to the side of the tank I can’t see and the whole thing starts to drain, I’m still super numb as it gets to the bottom and I’m just kinda laying there learning to breathe air again, feeling sorta starting to come back as he just picks me up in his arms and starts disconnecting pipes or wires or something from my back, just going “there there dear, don’t worry you’re safe” and stuff but I’m like, just high out of my mind to a degree that I’m just fuckin confused as shit lmao.
anyways he helps get me cleaned up, introduces himself as Deronn, explains to me about how he basically had to rebuild my body from scratch I was so fucked up. I guess I just start... busting up laughing as he explains things, since he awkwardly tries to laugh with me and that sticks as like, probably one of the most heartwarming moments of my life as I’m just... naked in a bath with this guy I don’t even know cleaning me up because I’m too weak to move, and I’m just laughing my ass off while the guy is just, trying to laugh along while all super worried that he fucked something up in my brain or whatever and then I just go, after like a minute or two of laughing, “I’m good, thanks” and fuckin pass out in the tub again. I must have been high as shit, actually.
So Deronn’s gotta be like, 12 sweeps old at this point I’d think, and he’s basically just taken me in and started rehabilitating me. teaching me about all the cybernetics I got installed in me, all the ins and outs, how they’re used, what all I should be doing with them. Periodically he’s giving me software updates for everything he did with my brain... All this tech is like, stupidly advanced, stuff I don’t think ever was actually made by trolls unless Deronn did some really crazy reverse engineering of stuff. I’m just being a prissy little 6 sweep old bitch but he’d always counter me with just being always kind and understanding and... calling me princess. aaaahhh shit I know where that comes from now. fuck me.
so I’m slowly recovering and mom comes to ‘visit’ (probably to bite Deronn’s head off, I never told him that) so I have to get up and explain to her what’s happening super fast and letting her know I’m okay and not there against my will or anything. mom’s ready to begrudgingly let me stay as long as I need to, so long as I’m ready to come back with her asap. I keep staying with Deronn as he helps me get better and used to my new body.
as soon as I’m like, fully mobile again I’m just like, all sure of myself so I go up to him like, hey I gotta repay you somehow for everything you’ve done, so I’m gonna stay a while longer and help you out, and hopefully be an awesome courier for him. Deronn’s IMMEDIATELY trying to shoot me down and telling me that nono I don’t owe him anything but like, you know, I’m a stubborn little princess and all that so eventually I wear him down and just... (ahaha fuck I’m crying because I know where this gooooes) eventually he does agree that me getting out again would be a good idea, especially since I’ll be so much stronger now. I’m all smug and confident in myself and get in touch with some of my old employers to smugly tell them that yes, I’m alive after like a quarter of a sweep with no word, and ready to do runs again. and uh, the one i was doing runs for that got me into that first mess? apparently didn’t exist anymore so that’s spooky.
I’m out doing runs for money and as favors for Deronn now, while giving him a part of my payout so that he’s able to purchase things that I was able to run back to him. (he was stupidly adamant about not going lower than 60-40 split for me, I even tried to sneak more money to him sometimes but it’d just end up next to my coon again in the evening lmao) biiiig problem for me was that like, I was stupidly overconfident and doing risky stuff all the time for no reason, getting myself hurt and coming back with a big grin as Deronn had to fix me up from scraps or falls or anything like that... the biggest problem came when I showed up back at his place after a bad run, three bullet holes in me and bleeding like crazy with a big dumb grin on my face like I was the coolest fucking kid in the empire. I woke up in the tube again after that, apparently one of those bullets went through my heart!
so uh, after that there was a lot of crying, him holding me tight, just happy that I was still alive and all that but there was a really big ultimatum after that. Deronn tells me he’s not gonna be around forever, I’m gonna need to take care of myself again eventually, and he can’t keep fixing me up like this. I couldn’t bear to see him like this so of course, I agreed that I’d be allowed to keep doing the jobs, so long as I was actually taking care to not get hurt at all to the best of my ability. I still didn’t believe him, though. He was a blueblood, he was gonna be around forever, right? yeah... anyways it went smoothly from there on until like, half a sweep in. we were close, I was helping him with the computer stuff, and getting ready to leave back with my lusus in maybe a perigee or so.
one night, I’m out on a run doing my typical work, I’m cloaked invisible and in the shadows and everything, learned so much more from everything I’ve done and had happen. Suddenly in the city there’s just this... Massive flash, and a thunderous, powerful explosion that rocks the entire damn hivecluster, I bet you could have felt it for miles and miles. I didn’t think about that though because that explosion came from around the area that Deronn lived. I fucking bolted straight to the scene of the explosion, the only problem was that there was nothing but a massive, scorched crater waiting for me. the map on my hud confirmed everything I dreaded, Deronn’s hive was at ground zero. I basically collapsed, bawling my eyes out until my mom came and picked me up, carrying me in her arms the entire time we were underground, headed to my new hive. my old one had been completely destroyed, apparently.
I... still don’t know what happened. I know he had a fusion reactor that powered all of his hive, that’s the only thing that could have caused such a blast but... was it intentional? an accident?? sabotage??? it still hurts just thinking about it, knowing I’ll never get any closure. by sunset he’s kissing my forehead telling me to have a good day and tell him all about it when I get back, by sunrise I’m crying myself to sleep in my mom’s arms. Deronn was without a doubt the kindest, most compassionate soul that I think has ever existed, always strong and ready to protect me, give me a shoulder to cry on, make sure I was taken care of and always had somewhere to go...
...fuuuuck. that’s why I feel the way I do about Valter too, isn’t it? hhhhhfuck.
anyways. I never got to say goodbye, how much he meant to me, anything like that. there’s always a place in my synthetic heart for him, especially considering he’s the one who put it there and fixed it when it was broken and everything. I’m never going to be truly over it, but it’s... he changed my outlook on life so dramatically, literally saved my life on several occasions, so like...
I miss you so much Deronn, I love you and will always love you. and above all else, thank you so, so much. for everything.

hi! I know it's not a popular opinion, but do you have any recs where howard is not the devil incarnate and he and tony improve their relationship?
I do know some! Most of these don’t exactly portray Howard as a good parent, but at least not as an abusive one, and hopefully that’s close to what you were looking for!
The Twice-Told Tale by arysteia
★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Words: 15,789
Pairing: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark
Completed: Yes
For someone he’d hero-worshipped for so long, Steve Rogers in the flesh is a pretty big disappointment. For one thing, he keeps looking at Tony as though he reminds him of someone else, and even if he never says anything, Tony’s pretty sure it’s his father. A lifetime of not measuring up to Howard’s expectations is more than enough, thank you very much, and he’s certainly not going to make an effort to live up to any of Steve’s. Steve’s pretty clearly failed to live up to his expectations, in any case, and that’s not hypocritical at all.
The Silver Age by copperbadge

Pairing: James “Bucky” Barnes/Tony Stark
Completed: Yes
When the Winter Soldier fails to kill Howard and Maria Stark and is taken prisoner in the summer of 1967, his salvation comes in the unlikely form of a Russian-speaking, father-disobeying, endlessly-tinkering seventeen-year-old: Tony Stark.
Twice Upon a Time by TsaritsaElena

Words: 70,436
Pairing: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark

Tony Stark has never had an easy relationship with his father, but when Howard Stark circa 1983 time travels to the future in a freak accident, things get even more complicated, especially since Tony is dating his dad’s idol, Captain America, and Howard doesn’t know. As they work toward a solution that will restore Howard to his own timeline, will Tony get a second chance at a father-son relationship with his dad, or is he in for more of the same unforgiving treatment from Howard? Time travel, Avengers missions, and a secret project of Howard’s: things at Stark Tower are about to get a little crazy.
Don’t Look Back, You Can Never Look Back. by iLoVsuperman

Words: 108,420
Pairing: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark
Completed: Yes
Tony Stark: billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, and, now, superhero.
It’d only been a few months prior that he’d revealed to the world he was Iron Man and life couldn’t be better. That is…until he stumbled upon an old abandoned Hydra lab and kinda set off one of their machines by accident. A blast of blue light later and he found himself in the same lab…only it is seventy years earlier and it is full of Hydra agents.
Cue the entrance of the Howling Commandos led by Tony’s childhood hero, Captain America.
Suddenly, Tony is living out a dream. He’s joining up with the Commandos in the search to get Tony back to his right era. It’s the adventure of a lifetime and, at first, it’s amazing…but then he and Steve connect in ways more than just friendship and he finds that he is torn between wanting to stay with him or go back home.
In the end, whatever the result, he loses.
Tony Spark by Doodled93

Avengers/Iron Man cross with RotG. Tony Stark died at 20, a few months after his birthday in 1957, protecting his parents from the electrical discharge of a reactor exploding. He wakes, remembers, and when the Moon whispers to him, Tony Spark, he frowns. “How about no.”Where Tony is the spirit of innovation and technology and won’t let a thing like death and not being able to be seen or heard or felt hold him back from going on with his life as usual.

Their left arm is a sleek, bone-white prosthetic with cerulean lights in a spiral galaxy pattern on their shoulder, where the prosthetic melds smoothly into medium-dark skin. They have short, dark, slightly wavy hair that is kept slicked back.
Murphy’s armor consists of a sleek one-piece outfit similar to a full-body wetsuit. It is made of thick shock-absorbing material with a black and white pattern. Their gauntlets encase both forearms and have cerulean light channels that form a starburst pattern on both palms. A stylized starburst is emblazoned on their back in silver thread.
Story
Siderean is a Caddo astrochemist whose love for the stars led them to groundbreaking discoveries.
Murphy Kionute found their passion early on in the Caddo traditional stories they were raised on. One story in particular -- the one detailing life after death and the origin of stars -- hooked them in and refused to let go. They earned a degree in astrochemistry and moved to Greenbelt, Maryland to pursue their doctorate, coming face-to-face with their first thermonuclear fusion reactor in the process.
The technology fascinated the amateur engineer and they began developing smaller and smaller versions of the reactors out of sheer curiosity. Even when a prototype of their fusion gauntlets malfunctioned and took their left arm, they persisted in their pursuit of knowledge.
Murphy nearly lost their fusion gauntlets when the technology was deemed too dangerous for a civilian. Only when Murphy pointed out its usefulness in combat and the inability of others to use the gauntlets were they allowed to keep their creation -- on the condition that they join the military as a unique combat unit.
Abilities
Plasma (Primary Fire): Plasmic arcs erupt from Siderean’s fusion gauntlets. Strikes deal 15 damage to a hero or construct and 10 damage in a 2m radius on collision with map. 15 ammo; does not headshot.
Helium Flash (Secondary Fire): Siderean’s fusion gauntlets discharge slow, heavy bolts of energy, dealing 35 damage per bolt. 3 ammo; does headshot.
Retrograde (Shift): Quick dash backwards (10m). Deals 20 damage at cast point in a 2m radius. 8 second cooldown.
Fission (E): For three seconds, Siderean’s fusion gauntlets absorb all incoming damage. Damage is then converted into shields worth 10% of absorbed damage, which lasts for eight seconds. 20 second cooldown begins after shield expires.
Supernova (Q): After a 1.5s fuse, Siderean’s fusion gauntlets overload and erupt in a 7m radius, dealing 1000 damage. During the fuse, enemies within the 7m radius are pulled 2m closer to Siderean.

Knowledge on H.A.D.E.S
HADES was one of a suite of nine subordinate functions under the control of GAIA.[1] Should GAIA's terraforming efforts prove unsuccessful with regard to producing an environment suitable for sustaining life, HADES' function was to reverse the work done, reverting the planet to its previous lifeless, sterile state state so that GAIA could engage in another attempt. In the process, any life that was introduced during the terraforming attempt would be exterminated. As such, HADES was not a true AI, but could instead be considered an extension of GAIA.[1] Inactivity HADES' function intrinsically meant that it only acted if required. Since GAIA's first terraforming attempt was successful, HADES was never required, and thus remained inactive. The Signal However, nearly 1000 years after GAIA went online, a signal of unknown origin was transmitted to GAIA Prime, the facility where GAIA was located. GAIA recorded the transmission as being received on August 26, 3020 (as reckoned using the old Earth Gregorian calendar) at 08:45. The signal unshackled GAIA's nine subordinate functions, including HADES, turning them into true AIs. Now an independent, self-aware entity, HADES sought to reverse GAIA's terraforming efforts and restoration of life to the planet, even though they had been successful. To do so, it attempted to seize control of the terraforming system from GAIA. Unable to fend HADES off, GAIA resorted to self-destructing by overloading the GAIA Prime fusion reactor in an effort to destroy HADES. However, HADES released a virus that destroyed the coding that bound it to the facility, and thus escaped the facility before it was destroyed.[2]

Dr Who, Bubbles & Dreams
Doctor Who has finished another season with the biggest bombshell in nearly 60 years of stories. What does this mean? Why is it happening? And why does it taste like caramel and marzipan? Nobody except the leakers could have known what was going to happen this time, and it's more controversial than politics. Doctor Who has time traveled back to the 80s to pick up some plot ideas from the Dark Times between the cancellation and revival.
Hello Ducky, my old friend. I've come to talk with you again. Because a bathtub slowly filling is behind this week's scientific breakthrough. The Sound of Bubbles is key to understanding the physics behind their growth and collapse. Aren't you glad I didn't choose "Where did you come from, where did you go, where did you come from Bubbleeye Joe?" as the musical reference.
And then it's time for Dreams, the newest evolution in a long history of amateur game development tools. Some developers have already been picked up by a company thanks to their work on a No Man's Sky clone. Professor is excited for the resurgence of amateur game development and hopes Dreams will rise up to be the next generation's rapid prototype and release tool.

GDC has announced that the 2020 event will be postponed until "later in the summer" due to ongoing concerns about the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak. "After close consultation with our partners in the game development industry and community around the world, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the Game Developers Conference this March," reads an update from GDC's organizers. The coronavirus is also having an impact on events outside of GDC: Sony, Square Enix, Capcom, CD Projekt, and PUBG Corp all pulled out of PAX East. Multiple game tournaments, like IEM Katowice, have also had to deny access to the public, opting to continue as an online only event.

Remembrances
2 March 1729 – Francesco Bianchini - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francesco_Bianchini
Italian philosopher and scientist. He worked for the curia of three popes, including being camiere d'honore of Clement XI, and secretary of the commission for the reform of the calendar, working on the method to calculate the astronomically correct date for Easter in a given year. His deduction of a rotational period of Venus was based on the observation of its surface using a 2.6" (66mm) 100-foot focal length aerial telescope. Today, we know that this is impossible, because of the thick cloud cover on this planet. He also worked on the parallax of Venus, and he measured the precession of the Earth's rotational axis. As part of his efforts to improve the accuracy of the calendar, Bianchini was commissioned by Clement XI to construct an important meridian line in the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri (the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels and the Martyrs) in Rome, a device for calculating the position of the sun and stars. Craters on Mars and the Moon are named in his honour. He died at the age of 67 in Rome.
2 March 1930 – D.H Lawrence - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D._H._Lawrence
English writer and poet. His collected works represent, among other things, an extended reflection upon the dehumanising effects of modernity and industrialisation. Some of the issues Lawrence explores are sexuality, emotional health, vitality, spontaneity, and instinct. Lawrence's opinions earned him many enemies and he endured official persecution, censorship, and misrepresentation of his creative work throughout the second half of his life, much of which he spent in a voluntary exile he called his "savage pilgrimage". Lawrence is best known for his novelsSons and Lovers, The Rainbow, Women in Love and Lady Chatterley's Lover. In these books, Lawrence explores the possibilities for life within an industrial setting. Lawrence is concerned with the nature of relationships that can be had within such a setting. Though often classed as a realist, Lawrence in fact uses his characters to give form to his personal philosophy. His depiction of sexuality, though seen as shocking when his work was first published in the early 20th century, has its roots in this highly personal way of thinking and being. He died from tuberculosis at the age of 44 in Vence.
2 March 1944 – Ida Maclean - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ida_Maclean
English biochemist and the first woman admitted to the London Chemical Society. Between 1920 and 1941 Maclean published in the Biochemical Journal approximately thirty papers, many in collaboration, on her particular interests, namely the role of fatty acids in animals and the synthesis of fats from carbohydrates. She came to be regarded as an authority on biochemistry, and her 1943 monograph The Metabolism of Fat was the first published of Methuen's series Monographs on Biochemical Subjects. She died at the age of 66 in London.
2 March 1962 – Charles Jean De La Vallee Poussin - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Jean_de_la_Vall%C3%A9e_Poussin
Charles-Jean Étienne Gustave Nicolas, baron de la Vallée Poussin, Belgianmathematician. He is best known for proving the prime number theorem. The king of Belgium ennobled him with the title of baron. Although his first mathematical interests were in analysis, he became suddenly famous as he proved the prime number theorem independently of his coeval Jacques Hadamard in 1896. He also published a counterexample to Alfred Kempe's false proof of the four color theorem. The Poussin graph, the graph he used for this counterexample, is named after him. He died at the age of 95 in Watermael-Boitsfort, Brussels.
Famous Birthdays
2 March 1545 – Sir Thomas Bodley – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Bodley
English diplomat and scholar who founded the Bodleian Library in Oxford. In 1444, the existing university library was augmented by a gift of some 300 manuscripts from Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester, the youngest son of Henry IV; this prompted the university to build a new library above the Divinity School which was at that time under construction. However, during the Reformation of the 1550s, the library had been stripped and abandoned, remaining virtually untouched until the return of Bodley in 1598. The library was later named the Bodleian Library in his honour. He determined, he said, "to take his farewell of state employments and to set up his staff at the library door in Oxford." In 1598 his offer to restore the old library was accepted by the university. Bodley began his book collection effort in 1600, using the site of the former library above the Divinity School, which was in near ruin. Although Bodley lived over 400 years ago, modern libraries benefit from some of his ideas and practices. One important idea that Bodley implemented was the creation of a "Benefactors' Book" in 1602, which was bound and put on display in the library in 1604. While he did have funding through the wealth of his wife, Ann Ball, and the inheritance he received from his father, Bodley still needed gifts from his affluent friends and colleagues to build his library collection. Although not a completely original idea (as encouragement in 1412 the university chaplain was ordered to say mass for benefactors), Bodley recognized that having the contributor's name on permanent display was also inspiring. He was born in the city of Exeter in Devon.
2 March 1886 – Willis H. O’Brien – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willis_H._O%27Brien
American motion picture special effects and stop-motion animation pioneer, who according to ASIFA-Hollywood "was responsible for some of the best-known images in cinema history," and is best remembered for his work on The Lost World (1925), King Kong (1933) and Mighty Joe Young (1949), for which he won the 1950 Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) proposed giving O'Brien an Oscar for his technical effects on King Kong but Willis insisted that each of his crew receive an Oscar statue also, which the AMPAS refused to do, so O'Brien refused to accept the Oscar award for himself. He was born in Oakland California.
2 March 1902 – Edward Condon - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Condon
Distinguished American nuclear physicist, a pioneer in quantum mechanics, and a participant in the development of radar and nuclear weapons during World War II as part of the Manhattan Project. The Franck–Condon principle and the Slater–Condon rules are co-named after him. During the McCarthy period, when efforts were being made to root out communist sympathizers in the United States, Edward Condon was a target of the House Un-American Activities Committee on the grounds that he was a 'follower' of a 'new revolutionary movement', quantum mechanics; Condon defended himself with a famous commitment to physics and science. Condon became widely known in 1968 as principal author of the Condon Report, an official review funded by theUnited States Air Force that concluded that unidentified flying objects (UFOs) have prosaic explanations. The lunar crater Condon is named for him. He was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
2 March 1904 – Dr. Seuss – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Seuss
Theodor Seuss "Ted" Geisel, American children's author, political cartoonist, illustrator, poet, animator, screenwriter, and filmmaker. He is known for his work writing and illustrating more than 60 books under the pen name Dr. Seuss. Geisel adopted the name "Dr. Seuss" as an undergraduate at Dartmouth College and as a graduate student at Lincoln College, Oxford. He published his first children's book And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street in 1937. During World War II, he took a brief hiatus from children's literature to illustrate political cartoons, and he also worked in the animation and film department of the United States Army where he wrote, produced or animated many productions – both live-action and animated – including Design for Death, which later won the 1947 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. After the war, Geisel returned to writing children's books, writing classics like If I Ran the Zoo (1950), Horton Hears a Who! (1955), If I Ran the Circus (1956), The Cat in the Hat (1957), How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1957), and Green Eggs and Ham (1960). He published over 60 books during his career, which have spawned numerous adaptations, including 11 television specials, five feature films, a Broadway musical, and four television series. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Events of Interest
2 March 1949 – Captain James Gallagher lands his B-50 Superfortress Lucky Lady II in Fort Worth, Texas after completing the first non-stop around-the-world airplane flight in 94 hours and one minute - https://www.wired.com/2010/03/0302b50-nonstop-circumnavigation/
The flight covered 23,452 miles, averaging a ground speed of 249 miles per hour. The modified bomber required air-to-air refueling four times as it flew ever eastward. The airplane was an updated version of the B-29 that had fought in World War II and was close to being obsolete by 1949. Refueling while flying was the biggest challenge of the flight. Though commonplace today, the technique was not widely used at the time. The Lucky Lady II was refueled from its close relative, the tanker version KB-29. Four pairs of KB-29s based in the Azores, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines and Hawaii were used as airborne gas stations. The Lucky Lady II was actually the second aircraft set up for the around-the-world flight. The first B-50, Global Queen, experienced engine problems after taking off Feb. 25 and landed in the Azores. The jet-powered B-52 bomber erased the Lucky Lady II's record in 1957 with a circumnavigation lasting just 45 hours, 19 minutes. Another B-52 lowered the record in 1980 to 42 hours, 23 minutes. The record still stands today.
2 March 1972 – The Pioneer 10 space probe is launched from Cape Canaveral,Florida with a mission to explore the outer planets - https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/pioneer-10-launched-to-jupiter
Pioneer 10, the world’s first outer-planetary probe, is launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on a mission to Jupiter, the solar system’s largest planet. In December 1973, after successfully negotiating the asteroid belt and 620 million miles, Pioneer 10 reached Jupiter and sent back to Earth the first close-up images of the spectacular gas giant. In June 1983, the NASA spacecraft left the solar system and the next day radioed back the first scientific data on interstellar space. NASA officially ended the Pioneer 10 project on March 31, 1997, with the spacecraft having traveled a distance of some six billion miles.
2 March 1978 – Grave robbers steal Charlie Chaplin’s body - https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/grave-robbers-steal-charlie-chaplins-body
In one of history’s most famous cases of body-snatching, two men steal the corpse of the revered film actor Sir Charles Chaplin from a cemetery in the Swiss village of Corsier-sur-Vevey, located in the hills above Lake Geneva, near Lausanne, Switzerland. After Chaplin’s widow, Oona, received a ransom demand of some $600,000, police began monitoring her phone and watching 200 phone kiosks in the region. Oona had refused to pay the ransom, saying that her husband would have thought the demand “ridiculous.” The callers later made threats against her two youngest children. After a five-week investigation, police arrested two auto mechanics–Roman Wardas, of Poland, and Gantscho Ganev, of Bulgaria–who on May 17 led them to Chaplin’s body, which they had buried in a cornfield about one mile from the Chaplin family’s home in Corsier. That December, Wardas and Ganev were convicted of grave robbing and attempted extortion. Political refugees from Eastern Europe, Wardas and Ganev apparently stole Chaplin’s body in an attempt to solve their financial difficulties. Wardas, identified as the mastermind of the plot, was sentenced to four-and-a-half years of hard labor. As he told it, he was inspired by a similar crime that he had read about in an Italian

The White Star Class, was a class of advanced warships maintained by the Rangers and utilizing Minbari and Vorlon technology and served as the backbone of the Interstellar Alliance's fleet. They were manufactured at the Valen's Eye manufacturing point in the Minbari System.
The first White Star was developed in secret by the Anla'shok, under the supervision of Ulkesh Naranek and Chosen One Jenimer throughout 2259. By November the first batch of three prototypes were ready, though they were only scaled down fighter sized White Stars, they were essential in testing the viability of adapting Vorlon and Minbari technology. Their first real test FLIGHT was a mission to prevent the Shadows from using the Temporal Rift in Sector 14. The three fighters were piloted by the newly qualified Rangers Marcus Cole and Catherine Sakai with Entil'Zha Sinclair piloting the third. The mission was a success, though it came at the cost of Ranger Sakai, whose fighter fell into the time distortion. In January 2260, the first full scale ship was complete and presented secretly to Captain John Sheridan of Babylon 5, though due to problems with the Warrior Caste, the initial crew was almost entirely composed of the Religious Caste.
With the assistance of the Worker Caste, a massive round the clock effort was begun to put the White Star class into full production and by the December of 2260 the rest of the White Star fleet had been completed, just in time to participate in the Battle of Sector 83.
Additional Technical Specifications
These are one of the newest class of Minbari attack ship whose duties have been delegated to the Rangers and the Interstellar Alliance. These were also the first non-Vorlon ship to be designed in co-operation with the Vorlon Empire, so they incorporate features such as Vorlon bio-armor that would normally only be found on Vorlon ships. These ships were built to be both maneuverable enough to engage fighters, and to have the punch to take on capital ships when operating in groups. They were used as the predominant weapons in the Shadow War between 2259 and 2261 and proved themselves to be formidable vessels, taking on vessels many times their size and winning.
This incredible performance is in part due to advanced Vorlon components found in the ship such as the bio-armoured hull which is capable of learning from experience and adapting itself to better protect the ship in new engagements; this hull design also gives the ship the ability to 'heal' itself after it has been damaged. These ships are also capable of creating their own jump point into hyperspace without using a jumpgate, giving these ships tremendous flexibility on the battlefield.

Gotham Knights episode one
GOTHAM KNIGHTS
10/04/16
Episode one: Snake Bombs
It is Saturday night in Gotham city. With Batman, Nightwing and Robin all out of town it falls to the heroes they have trained to take charge of the city in the event of an emergency. Q-Carbon is in Burnside, Violet Scream and Recluse are in their bar, No Man’s Land. Gigawatt is also in the area. Darkstar is in the Clock Tower doing research with Oracle.
In his civilian guise Silver Wolf is waiting for a subway in the Upper East Side. When the train appears, it is filled with creatures that seem half snake and half human. They burst out of the train as the doors open and attack the people on the platform. As panic breaks out he summons the rest of the heroes.
Silver Wolf tries to subdue the snake people, but there are too many of them. Violet Scream and Recluse arrive on Violet’s motorcycle. Darkstar arrives with his glider wings and takes charge of the situation, ordering the others to keep the snake creatures from making it to the streets.
The heroes battle the snakes, which are very strong and fast and have razor sharp claws as well as fangs. Violet tries to bring them down with drugged needles while Recluse uses a net to snare them. When it looks like they are going to get out of control Violet rolls a trash can down the stairs to knock them back.
Darkstar goes into the subway car and sees clothes and belongings left behind. The snake creatures are ordinary people who have been transformed. He is jumped from behind by one of the creatures and has to fight it off.
Darkstar finds a paper bag that exudes a chemical smell and recognizes the remains of a bomb. When he contacts Oracle she tells him to use his gas mask. Darkstar collects samples of the chemicals used in the bomb as well as one of the transformed citizens.
When the police arrive the heroes tell them they have it under control. They only reveal the bomb to Commissioner Gordon so they won’t start a panic. The police have cells that will house the snake people.
No sooner is that situation under control than someone takes over all the cell phones and televisions in town and makes an announcement. It is the leader of the Kobra Cult who announces the start of the Kali Yuga, the age of chaos and destruction that will lead to the end of the world. Before the signal can be traced the power goes out and the city’s cell phone towers are blown up.
The people begin to panic and clog the roads trying to flee the city. Oracle and Darkstar work on the bomb while part of the team head back to the bar. Q-Carbon and Gigawatt head towards Burnside where the power plant is located so they can get it back online.
On their way to the bar Violet spots a gunfight in the Russian Tea Room. The attackers are all wearing masks of some sort. Silver Wolf races ahead and kicks one of them. While Violet and Recluse take on the other two, the victims in the tea room suddenly pull out machine guns and start to fire.
“When the KGBeast finds out about this Black Mask’s life won’t be worth anything!” one of the Russian mobsters shouts as he opens fire.
Darkstar glides across town and arrives in time to help. Silver Wolf kicks one of the gunmen into the air so Darkstar can grab him and use him to knock the others aside. Violet drugs all of them except for the one with the shotgun.
As the fight draws to a close the heroes hear from Oracle that the Joker has escaped from Arkham Asylum. Recluse and Violet head to Amusement Mile, the Joker’s most notorious hangout to see if they can pick up his trail.
That leaves Darkstar alone with the Russian mobsters. He questions them and eventually gets one to reveal that the KGBeast operates out of a warehouse off Port Adams. The main target for the Russian mob is Gotham National Bank, which is secretly owned by Black Mask and is used for money laundering.
Silver Wolf, Recluse and Violet Scream search the long abandoned amusement park near the ocean in north Gotham. It isn’t long before they hear the sounds of destruction and go to investigate.
Meanwhile Gigawatt uses a cable to swing across the bridge to Burnside which is jammed with cars as people flee the city. When he gets to the power plant he finds it cordoned off by police.
Bodies of technicians were found torn in half causing them to evacuate the building. Unfortunately the experimental fusion power plant, built by Lexcore can turn into a miniature sun if the plasma flow isn’t monitored. Gigawatt calls for back up and Darkstar speeds to his aid.
In Amusement Mile Violet finds that the destruction is being caused by Harley Quinn, who is smashing every clown depiction that she finds in the park. Cautiously Violet approaches her and asks what she’s doing.
“I’m working on issues with my ex. It’s therapy. Trust me, I’m a psychiatrist.” Harley replies.
Violet tries to get her to talk about her relationship to the Joker and Poison Ivy, but Harley continues doing damage. “I’ve got a lot more clowns to smash.” Violet decides to join her.
Silver Wolf disables the traps he had been setting up and steps out of the shadows. Recluse is about to join him when her keen senses detect the sound of a stealth helicopter. She barely has time to warn them when a smoke grenade crashes into the room and men in hi-tech commando gear swing down from the helicopter.
Silver Wolf and Recluse don gas masks as Violet and Harley make a break for it. They reach the ground where Violet’s motorcycle is parked, but there are already four commandos laying in wait.
Violet tries to bring one down with a needle, but their protective clothing makes that difficult. Apparently they aren’t concerned about shooting civilians since one of them open fire with his M4 Carbine rifle. Harley smashes one man with her giant hammer and cartwheels out of the way of the spraying bullets while Violet ducks for cover. Recluse catches one in her web.
Violet and Harley jump on the bike and roar away, leaving the rest of the commandos to Silver Wolf and Recluse.
At the power plant Darkstar joins Gigawatt in trying to get the plant running again. They find evidence of the brutal deaths, and oddly a very large snake scale. Just as they reach the control room they are attacked by a thirty foot long cobra.
The two heroes lure it away from the delicate controls and set a trap for it. Gigawatt will draw it in, then stun it with a flash bang while Darkstar drops from above and burns it with his boot jets.
The plan almost works, but Gigawatt stumbles on some debris and fails to stun the snake. Darkstar attacks, but the huge snake fights back, slamming him into the ceiling.
Across the city Violet notices that the unmarked black helicopter has begun following them.
“So, who are those guys?” she asks cautiously.
“Oh, they’re probably federal troops trying to take me back to Belle Reeve,” Harley replies. “Did I forget to mention them?”
At the power plant Gigawatt sees the giant snake looming over him, its mouth open. He tries to grab the tongue but fails. The mouth of the snake slams shut on his arm, but fortunately the fangs do not penetrate his flesh. Gigawatt sends a powerful electrical jolt through the snake causing it to convulse.
Darkstar takes advantage of this and uses his boot jets to blast the snake in the face as he shoots down the corridor ahead of it. The enraged snake drops Gigawatt and hurls its massive body down the long hallway to go after Darkstar.
Gigawatt presses himself against the wall to keep from being crushed as the giant snake shoots past him. Once it is gone, he heads to the control room. Once there Gigawatt uses his electrical powers to try and jumpstart the generator. He is successful, and the power surge restores his electrical abilities to full. Unfortunately, a warning alarm goes off. Without someone at the controls to regulate the plasma flow the reactor will now go critical.
Meanwhile in Gotham Violet and Harley try to lose the black helicopter by sticking to the narrow alleys, but the chopper pilot stays with them. Unexpectedly Harley grabs the handlebars and turns the cycle into a large department store, crashing right through the doors. As they zip down aisles she grabs various items.
“Look, a Prada handbag,” she announces gleefully. Violet relaxes and lets Harley take control.
Silver Wolf and Recluse are left dealing with the heavily armed commandos who arrived with the helicopter. Silver Wolf grabs Harley’s hammer and manages to tie one of their legs together. Recluse binds the other with her web, but she has to dodge a hail of bullets before she can bring him down.
In the power plant Darkstar is racing down the hallway with the snake in hot pursuit. Suddenly a ventilation shaft pops open and he sees Catwoman.
“Lead it into the control room,” she calls out. Darkstar does as she suggests. As he brings in to the control room Gigawatt tries to electrify the metal frame of the doorway, but the snake it moving so fast it undulates past the door without being injured. Catwoman starts working the controls while Darkstar initiates his backup plan.
Now that the plant is running, he leads the huge snake outside to the power lines. It hits the transformer and is fried as enough electricity to power the city courses through it.
Catwoman has instructions on how to stabilize the plasma flow and manages to get the plant working again.
“We should get out of here before Luthor sues us,” Catwoman announces.
Now that the crisis is past Gigawatt offers his help if Catwoman needs it.
“Actually,” she replies. “I’m looking to stop a terrorist from selling an ancient image of Bast.”
“I’m down with that,” he agrees.
Even as Gigawatt strikes a bargain with Catwoman Darkstar receives a call for help from Violet and jets off back to the city.
Recluse and Silver Wolf get a call from Oracle. She hasn’t found a cure yet for the snake transformations, but she knows who might be able to help. The process which creates the snake people is similar to what Kirk Langstrom used to change into the Man-Bat. Langstrom has been cured now and is teaching at Gotham Academy across the river. Recluse and Silver Wolf are perfect for this mission since they are so familiar with the school.
The two heroes have no transportation. Even if they had a car the bridge is still blocked by traffic. Oracle directs them to the yacht club where they find a boat called the Cherioptra, which belongs to Bruce Wayne.
“Don’t worry, he won’t miss it,” Oracle promises as she tells them how to start up the engines. The yacht takes them across the river where they manage to get an Uber ride to the academy.
No sooner are they on the grounds of Gotham Academy than they encounter two of the students, Olive Silverlock and “Maps” Mizoguchi who are out with a flashlight.
“Be Careful, someone’s broken in,” Olive tells them. The two girls are out trying to find out what is going on. They spot a door to a utility corridor that has been forced open.
“That leads to the science building,” Maps says.
The four of them investigate. As they near the building the heroes have a bad idea what is happening. There is a loud crash and the sound of a fight. Recluse stays with Olive and Maps while Silver Wolf goes ahead.
The assassin Copperhead is attacking Professor Langstrom.
“You have to believe me, those days are over,” Langstrom gasps.
“Then you won’t mind me killing you,” the female assassin sneers.
“Don’t do that,” Silver Wolf says, stepping into the room.
At the same time Harley has driven the motorcycle into an elevator and up to the top floor. Once there they are on the same level as the helicopter, which opens fire. Two machine guns shoot from gun ports on the side.
Bullets are flying all around them and the windows shatter as Harley orders Violet to get the bike as close to the window as possible. Violet does this as Darkstar arrives on the scene.
Harley hurls a handbag stuffed with stolen items out the window. Darkstar hits it with a batarang, causing it to explode. The windshield of the chopper is covered in a cloud of face powder.
“Too much makeup is bad for the complexion,” Harley comments.
With the helicopter disabled, Darkstar grabs the door and opens it, flinging the pilot out into the department store through the broken windows. The pilot lands in a heap and looks up to see the two women standing over him.
“It wasn’t my idea,” he gasps. “Waller made me do it.”
Darkstar knocks out the co-pilot. He finds himself facing down the barrels of two men in back who are training high powered rifles at him.
“Drop your guns or I’ll crash,” Darkstar warns them.
“You’d never do it,” one of the men says.
Darkstar pulls back on the controls, sending the helicopter into a near vertical position. The armed men fall back and smash into the wall as the hero fights to keep the engine from sputtering.
The trained commandos recover quickly, but the interior of the chopper is too close quarters to use their rifles. As Darkstar battles them he is slashed in the arm with a knife. A fierce and brutal battle follows. Darkstar narrowly misses being garroted from behind by one of the commandos, whom he slams into the cargo door. The other man is brought down when Darkstar uses his line and grappling hook to grab the man’s leg and yank him off his feet.
Once he stabilizes the helicopter Darkstar dangles the man outside the door by his vest and interrogates him.
Reluctantly the man admits that he is a government special ops agent working at Belle Reeve prison. His squad was sent to capture Harley Quinn, an escaped fugitive.
“I work for Amanda Waller,” he gasps. “And you don’t want to mess with her.”
“Waller knows to stay out of Gotham,” Darkstar growls.
“Batman’s not here.”
“Just because Batman’s gone that doesn’t mean that Gotham’s not protected. Tell Waller Harley’s in my custody and to stay out of Gotham.”
The commando agrees, so long as Darkstar can safely land the helicopter.
Across the river at Gotham Academy Silver Wolf in her civilian clothes is facing the assassin Copperhead.
“Get lost kid, I’m not being paid to kill you,” the killer snarls.
Silver Wolf pretends he needs to interview Langstrom, but that story doesn’t work too well on Copperhead.
“I need to finish this and get out of town before the big one goes off. All the smaller bombs were just test runs,” Copperhead explains.
“Would you like some pineapples?” Silver Wolf asks. Across town Darkstar hears the codeword and knows that Silver Wolf is in trouble. As Violet takes Harley to her bar for safety Darkstar heads across the rooftops towards the river. He activates the remote control on his car to meet him at the bridge.
In the Gotham Academy chemistry lab a panic stricken Langstrom throws some acid on Copperhead. While the killer is distracted Silver Wolf attacks her, but the sinuous assassin twists easily out of his path.
While Copperhead is washing off the acid in a sink Silver Wolf strikes from behind her, this time using his enhanced speed and reflexes. He is able to knock her off her feet and send her sliding across a table filled with glassware. By the time the assassin can get to her feet silver wolf has jumped through a window with Langstrom.
Outside on the quad Silver Wolf gives up protecting her secret identity and hits full speed, easily keeping ahead of copperhead. When Darkstar arrives with his car Langstrom is placed in the back. The car is ordered to drive away.
Copperhead is racing at them at full speed. Darkstar stands his ground while Silver Wolf runs to get Recluse, Olive and Maps. Even as the car with Langstrom pulls away Copperhead will not stop.
After a clash with Darkstar, the exhausted killer is knocked to the ground. She attempts to slink away on the ground, but Darkstar snares her with his grappling hook.
While he is taking care of her Silver Wolf leads the students to safety. Unfortunately Maps wants to follow a shortcut she knows to get to the dorms, which will take them right past the fight scene. Silver Wolf warns Darkstar who manages to drag Copperhead out of the way. The students see nothing.
Langstrom is being taken to a special lab set up in the Clock Tower by Oracle. Copperhead manages to slip out of Darkstar’s grip and escape.
Miles away Catwoman and Megawatt are heading for the Stagg Industries plant located between Gotham and Bludhaven. She explains that she is after a terrorist named Saban Aziz. He was part of a group that destroys ancient temples and places of worship. They also steal items from the places they destroy to sell them on the black market.
Saban has a figurine which one of the earliest known depictions of the cat goddess Bast. He plans to sell it to billionaire Simon Stagg and use the money to fund more terrorism.
Gigawatt agrees to help recover the statue, but when he hears on his communicator that a larger bomb is scheduled to go off that will permanently transform the entire city he informs Catwoman. She says she’ll help stop the bomb as soon as this caper is done.
Using Gigawatt’s power they easily scale the electric fence and creep through the parking lot. Even though it’s the middle of the night the factory is well lit and the guards all have heavy weapons.
Miles away Darkstar is taking Silver Wolf and Langstrom back to Gotham when a snake bomb goes off on the bridge. There is a tangle of crashed cars in front of them and a snake man leaps onto the car and tries to smash in the window.
In the enclosed back of the vehicle Langstrom is beginning to panic. “I didn’t have to worry when I was Man-Bat,” he murmers. “People feared me.”
Darkstar tries to drive through the rubble, but his bumper catches on one of the wrecked cars. Silver Wolf climbs out and deals with the snake man on the car as well as freeing the bumper.
They head to the Clock tower, weaving their way around the heavy traffic as people still try to flee the city. Before they can get there Oracle calls in with a report that makes him change directions. There are explosions a few blocks from the Clock Tower. Apparently someone is going after the Gotham National Bank with a tank.
Arriving at the scene The heroes see an old style Russian tank rolling down the street. The KGBeast is there with several of his men who are armed with heavy weapons.
The heroes remember that the bank is owned by Black Mask and used to launder money. This must be the Beast’s retaliation for the attack on his base at the Russian Tea Room.
The machine guns behind the tank’s gun ports open fire with high density ammo which starts to cut through the armor on Darkstar’s vehicle. When he sees one of the Russians aim a shoulder mounted missile at him, he drops the man with a quickly fired hockey puck.
The missile misfires and goes off on the pavement. The Russians are knocked to the ground and the street is filled with smoke and debris raining down.
Silver Wolf gets out and runs to the tank, but the Beast emerges from the smoke and attacks, bringing him down with a swift kick that sends Silver Wolf rolling painfully across the pavement.
Violet and Harley arrive on the scene just in time to see the tank blow a hole in the back wall of the bank. Darkstar tries to blow off the treads, but the tank is too well protected. It rolls into the bank with the Beast right behind it.
Darkstar launches himself into the air with his ejector seat and tells Oracle to take over the car by remote control. Oracle does so, making the car roll into the bank after the tank. Harley and Violet use the car as cover.
Oracle fires a hockey puck at the Beast to give Silver Wolf a chance to recover. The Beast dodges it, but Silver Wolf is able to exchange a few blows with him before being stunned with a powerful punch.
Darkstar comes in by the front of the bank and makes his way down to where the tank is. He arrives in time to see the Beast riding on top of the tank and zooms straight into him.
“Sorry, we’re closed,” Darkstar quips as his double kick sends the Beast flying.
Darkstar tries to get the tank open, but it’s locked. Meanwhile Silver Wolf again grapples with the Beast. At this point the tank opens fire with a flamethrower, setting the interior of the bank on fire.
Darkstar uses smoke bombs to drive the tank crew out into the open, but the fire is rapidly spreading. The bank’s fire alarms and sprinklers have clearly been shut off.
As Silver Wolf and the Beast battle the hero manages to drive the Russian killer to his knees, but the Beast slashes him as he falls. Violet steps in to join the fight, but is held at bay by the Beast’s knife. Suddenly a voice interrupts the fight.
“Hey, is this guy on our side?” Harley asks. Violet turns to see Black Mask and a large group of his men arriving on the scene.
In the bank the hatch opens so the crew can get air, allowing Darkstar to drop into the tank.
While this is going on Gigawatt and Catwoman continue their heist. Catwoman’s plan is for him to blow the lights as soon as the safe is open. She will run in and grab the statue and dive out a window. Saban will take off with the money, but they will be able to track him down later.
First Catwoman works a flexible metal tube with a fiber optic cable through an air duct so they can get a good look at the room and know when to strike.
The plan almost works. Gigawatt sends a power surge that shuts off the lights allowing Catwoman to enter the room. A few seconds later emergency lights come on revealing that she’s been caught by a robot that was out of camera range. Gigawatt sees Saban about to run past him and tosses him into the room where he’s caught by the robot. Gigawatt is also able to knock out Saban’s associates.
Catwoman is able to slip out of the robot’s clutches. She uses her whip to take the gun from Stagg’s hand. Saban is still held by the robot and has started to panic, shooting wildly. Catwoman tries to hold the robot off with a chair as it rolls after her.
“Sparky, I brought you for a reason,” Catwoman reminds him.
Gigawatt zaps the robot, but it absorbs the electricity and starts to move faster, smoke pouring out of it. The robot changes its attack to Gigawatt. As it moves closer he hits it again and it starts to convulse, its metal arms flailing wildly. Saban is able to escape.
Catwoman assures Gigawatt that they can always follow him. She put a tracking device into the bag with the money.
Back in Gotham Black Mask demands that the heroes put out the fire in the bank. When they don’t respond fast enough he orders his men to open fire and the heroes must take cover from a hail of bullets.
Inside the bank Darkstar lays out their priorities before he drops into the smoke filled tank for hand to hand combat. They need to turn on the fire suppression system, take care of the KGBeast and stop Black Mask.
Violet takes off to investigate why the bank’s fire alarms haven’t gone off. She notices that the building is still dark despite the power being back on. The power lines have been shot off the building by Beast’s high powered rifle.
Recluse uses her webs to pin one of the Mask’s men. Silver wolf is still injured from his fight with the Beast, but rushes in to take out more crimenals. Oracle uses the car to take one man down with a hockey puck, but Recluse is hit by a stray bullet. Although the ballistic material of her uniform prevents the bullet from penetrating her, she has the breath knocked out of her.
The Beast is about to enter the bank when Harley jumps on him. As they fight he attempts to block on of her hammer blows with his arm, but she drives the sharp blades into his head. Angered he slams his gun into her head and knocks her to the ground. As soon as she hits the pavement he opens fire, forcing her to scramble away for cover. She is hit by one of the ricocheting bullets.
Darkstar is fighting in the cramped quarters of the tank. He takes down one knife wielding man with a head butt, the other Russian panics and opens fire with a pistol. The bullet bounces inside the tank and hits Darkstar in the leg.
Outside the tide of battle has turned. Silver Wolf manages to take down the rest of Black Mask’s men. Recluse recovers and uses her web to pin his legs together, yanking him off his feet.
Miles away Gigawatt and Catwoman are following Saban’s trail. He is on his single wheeled motorcycle and she in her car. Catwoman passes him on a deserted stretch of road and throws caltrops that burst his tires. Unfortunately when his car crashes he emerges from the wreck with a machine gun, the briefcase of money, and a belt of plastic explosives around his waist. If the explosives go off they will all be killed.
“Don’t zap him,” Catwoman warns. “C4 is detonated with an electric charge.”
Saban demands transportation so Gigawatt convinces him to take his bike because it’s very fast. He doesn’t mention that it also has plenty of tracking devices that make it easy to track.
The terrorist leaves on the bike, but shoots out two of Catwoman’s tires before he takes off. Once he is gone they are able to take two tires off his wrecked vehicle and continue the chase. Oracle contacts Gigawatt to remind him that all of Gotham is under threat from the Kobra Cult and he promises to return as soon as possible.
The trail leads to Bludhaven. They are staying a few blocks behind him so they won’t be spotted, but suddenly the signal stops. They are in a warehouse area near the docks. Gigawatt contacts Darkstar who trained in Bludhaven for advice and he goes to Oracle to track who owns the warehouses.
The search comes back with a chilling name. T.O. Morrow, a criminal genius who has fought the Justice League several times, either by building androids, or stealing things from the future or past to use as weapons.
Meanwhile Violet has managed to very carefully reattach the live wire to the bank. Alarms immediately go off and the sprinkler system goes off.
Darkstar finishes off the last Russian gangster, kicking him unconscious with his wounded leg. He shuts the tank down and emerges from the hatch just as water starts to cascade down from the sprinklers.
Suddenly shurikens shoot past him. The razor sharp stars have been thrown by the Beast. Darkstar leaps at him, trying to land with enough force to take him down, but the Beasts remarkable reflexes allows him to grab Darkstar’s foot and spin him around, slamming him into the floor.
Darkstar contacts Oracle and has her shut off the lights as he rolls out of the way. The high caliber bullets slam into the marble floor, cracking a rib. The lights go out, but Darkstar sees the red glow of the Beast’s eyepiece and knows that he is using infrared to see in the dark. Taking cover to avoid the hail of bullets he throws a batarang at the eyepiece and scores a direct hit. The beast cries out and staggers backwards, his night vision gone.
Outside the bank the battle continues. Black Mask holds Recluse at gunpoint while he starts to cut away the web holding his legs. Fortunately Silver Wolf is already in motion. He kicks first the gun, then the knife from Mask’s hands.
Recluse tries to snare Black Mask and pull him into the bank, but he punches Silver Wolf.
Inside the bank a lighter suddenly illuminates the room.
“Hey, it’s real dark in here,” Harley Quinn announces.
Using her arrival as a distraction, Darkstar slides across the marble floor and tries to use his boot jets to deliver an uppercut to the Beast. The Russian assassin dodges, but he has no time to dodge Harley’s attack. Darkstar drops onto him just as Harley delivers a blow from her hammer. The stunned Russian slides across the floor and slams his head into the wall. He is unconscious, the fight is over.
Violet manages to take down the Black Mask just as the police arrive to take over.
Darkstar orders his car to take the increasingly agitated Langstrom to the Clock Tower where he can work on an antidote to the snake bombs. Silver Wolf manages to get Harley out of the bank before the police see her, and Darkstar goes back to their base at Violet’s bar to patch himself up.
Miles away in Bludhaven Gigawatt and Catwoman locate the warehouse being leased to T.O. Morrow, the Justice League villain. It has a blocker that cuts them off from Oracle as soon as they step in.
They creep through the warehouse and find the scientist talking to Saban the terrorist they’ve been hunting. Fortunately Saban has removed the belt of plastic explosives from his waist. They see the warehouse is filled with half finished projects, including robots in various stages of completion.
The terrorist is giving all the money to Morrow in return for a shoebox sized container that is filled with chunks of a silvery metal. They hear Morrow explain that this is Nth metal, the same stuff that makes Hawkman fly. It also is a superconductor of electricity and can affect magical creatures. If Saban were to use these chunks as shrapnel for one of his bombs the shards of Nth metal would pass through his victims without even slowing down, vastly increasing the lethality of the bomb.
Gigawatt and Catwoman split up. She sneaks up behind Saban while Gigawatt charges up to take out Morrow. His fist blast misses, but the robots all around them suddenly lurch to life, programmed to protect their creator.
Saban grabs the money and the Nth metal and runs for the door, using his machine gun for cover. Gigawatt knockes the gun aside and gives the terrorist a jolt that takes him down. Meanwhile Catwoman has taken out Morrow.
The two of them leave while the robots start firing lazers and sending claw arms through the air.
“So, up for a second date?” Gigawatt says as they leave the warehouse.
Catwoman laughs and reminds him that there’s still a crisis back in Gotham City.
Oracle contacts the heroes and informs them that all is not well with the cure. Langstrom says he will need some rare plants from South America to complete the formula. Even if he gets them, they still need a way to spread the cure over the city as quickly as possible. The best answer is the type of missile used by military forces to spread nerve gas.
There is some debate amongst the heroes as to their best course of action. Poison Ivy can probably supply the rare plants, if they can get her to cooperate. Harley could help, but she’s been in Belle Reeve for over a year and has no idea where Ivy is. There’s a chance the Penguin could supply the missile they need, but he’s not likely to cooperate with them either.
Finally they agree to split up. Darkstar will go after the bombs, trying to find Cobra’s headquarters. Recluse and Silver Wolf will try to get the Penguin to help. Meanwhile Harley and Violet will try and locate Poison Ivy. Gigawatt wants to have gloves made from the Nth metal.
As the sun rises on a new day the battle against crime continues. Harley, Violet and Storm go to the botanical Gardens to try and find Poison Ivy. Recluse and Darkstar go after the Penguin while Gigawatt scans the city for more bombs.
Darkstar scans the Iceberg Lounge which is closed because of the hour. He sees no one inside, but the lower floors are protected from scanning. After reconnoitering the building he and Recluse split up. Darkstar goes underwater to try and break in at the hidden boat dock while Recluse goes in through the roof.
Darkstar surfaces, shooting himself out of the water. He finds that the dock is cut off from the rest of the building by a steel security door which is electrified. Finding a bottle of champagne he hurls it at the door, hoping to short it out. Unfortunately when he touches the door it is still electrified and he is sent flying backwards, stunned by the jolt.
Recluse lowers herself into the building through an air duct. She finds herself above the ceiling so she can look down at the vast nightclub with its actual iceberg in a huge pool that houses live penguins. There are holes in the floor so that when the club is open Penguin’s men can shoot down and eliminate anyone in the club. Carefully she goes down through the hole for the chandelier chain.
Back at the Clock Tower Gigawatt grabs a spare pair of gloves and heads out to help Darkstar. He brings along an air tank so he can go in underwater.
Recluse has just reached the floor when Darkstar throws the champagne and the alarm goes off. The lights come on, causing her to panic. She uses her webs to swing out to the iceberg. A woman arrives and points a machine gun at her, telling her to surrender.
The Penguin himself arrives, wearing a bathrobe and carrying an umbrella. “How dare you violate my establishment!” he squawks. “I’ll have you arrested.”
Desperately Recluse grabs one of the baby penguins and threatens it unless the Penguin backs down.
Meanwhile Gigawatt arrives at the dock. As he swims in he sees two large sharks, but they ignore him. When he goes to get on the docks he triggers a trip plate which causes chum to fall from the ceiling. As the fish guts and blood rain down on him the two sharks close in for the kill. Gigawatt is forced to stun them both.
At the same time Harley, Violet and Storm arrive at the Botanical Gardens. They decide to climb over the wall. Guards on patrol block their path. When they are confronted one of the guards pulls out a gun and proclaims, “I must protect the mistress.”
“We’ve got her girlfriend right here,” Violet tries to explain, but the guard is too deeply under the spell to respond.
Clearly Ivy is in the area. They allow the guard to march them deeper into the gardens until they are surrounded by lush vegetation. Suddenly a carnivorous plant creature lurches out of the greenery.
“I don’t think a hammer would do much against that,” Harley comments. Storm drives it back with a high pitched sound, but it’s leafy tentacles grab Violet and start to drag her away.
Violet wriggles free and manages to kick it in the head, but the plant monster has no nerves to feel pain. Finally Storm drives it away with high frequency sound.
The guard orders them to keep going, as if nothing happened. They arrive at a huge domed greenhouse filled with giant plants. The trees drop gourds which burst and release gas. Fortunately the party is protected from gas, and Harley isn’t affected from any of Ivy’s toxins.
Inside the steamy interior they find Poison Ivy reclining on a giant flower. Ivy is angry at first that Harley would bring strangers in with her. She also doesn’t care that all the people in Gotham may soon be turned into snakes, since snakes are much less easy that people to deal with. Ivy is reminded that her plants need human care to survive.
“Besides, they rescued my from Waller,” Harley explains.
That convinces her. Ivy gets to work growing the plants, but she warns them it’s going to take a couple of hours.
“If you need a foot massage or something, just ask one of the guards,” Ivy tells them.
Back at the Iceberg Lounge, Gigawatt shorts out the door. When it opens there is a woman with a shotgun pointed at them. Before Gigawatt can shock her, Darkstar sweeps in and knocks the gun aside.
“We’ve got to talk to the Penguin, lead the way,” Darkstar growls.
“He’s not gonna like it,” the woman warns.
Darkstar and Gigawatt are lead into the main area of the club where they confront an irate Penguin. He demands to know who they are and why they’ve broken in.
“Obviously we work for Batman,” Darkstar replies.
Penguin becomes easier to work with when he discovers that they are trying to stop the snake bombs. The bombs have been ruining his business after all.
Gigawatt tries to press him harder, which convinces the Penguin that the heroes are only there to arrest him.
“What makes you think I would even have access to such a thing,” he demands.
“Dude, we’ve seen your basement,” is the only reply he gets.
Finally the Penguin decides to “do his civic duty” and give them the missile for aerial dispersion of the antidote. He asks them to meet him in an hour at a storage facility. He has to get dressed and disable a few booby traps. As they leave Gigawatt apologizes for the sharks.
At the botanical garden Harley enjoys a foot massage from one of the hypnotically enslaved guards while Ivy grows the plants they need. Violet searches the area to see if Cobra’s base could be here, but she finds nothing suspicious in the area. That only leaves one place in Gotham where the bombs haven’t hit.
At the appointed time Darkstar shows up at a self storage unit which is protected by cameras and hidden machine guns. Penguin is dressed in a suit and carrying one of his trick umbrellas. One of the women from the club is with him, dressed as a chauffeur. He shows them a small missile on a wheeled trailer for towing. Oracle scans it and reports that it is the real deal. Darkstar takes possession of the missile.
At the greenhouse Ivy has finished her work and gives instructions on how to extract the plant essence without harming the plant. Harley decides to stay in the garden with her pal for the time being.
At the Clock Tower the heroes plan their next move. The only part of the city not hit by bombs in near Gotham University. This is where Langstrom used to teach before the Man-bat incident. When Oracle scans the area they detect the right chemicals to make the snake bombs.
This could just be because they have a really well equipped lab, or it could be that this is cobra’s lair. Either way, it’s worth checking out.
Gigawatt and Darkstar go to the science building while Violet and Silver Wolf explore the campus. Classes have been cancelled due to the emergency and the school was supposed to be evacuated. Despite this, Darkstar detects someone in the science building.
Gigawatt goes through the front door while Darkstar smashes through a window. When Darkstar sees them he uses the secret code to call for backup. There are two people, a man and a woman who look like students. They are mixing chemicals and wearing gas masks so they won’t be affected by the fumes. The chemicals look like the same kind of substances Langstrom was working with.
Darkstar knocks the man down while Gigawatt grabs the woman. He fails to shock her unconscious and she struggles to escape him.
“Who are you?” Darkstar demands. The man tries to fight back, but Darkstar smashes him into a rack of chemicals. He threatens to remove the man’s mask if he doesn’t surrender.
Oddly the woman manages to remove her mask. Gigawatt struggles with her, but she manages to pop a pill in her mouth. Instantly her body begins to change. She convulses out of his arms and slithers free, now in snake form.
The snake woman attempts to spit venom in Gigawatt’s face, but fails. She launches herself at him, slashing his uniform with razor sharp claws.
Darkstar knocks the man out. He grabs the snake woman and drags her off Gigawatt with a curst from his boot jets. She wraps her body around him, squeezing until he can feel his damaged ribs start to go. Gigawatt attempts to help his companion, but he manages to shock Darkstar instead.
Protected by the insulation in his uniform, Darkstar is able to recover in time to blast upward, hoping to scrape her off on the ceiling. She proves too fast for him and twists away. When she hits the floor she drops face down and starts to slither out the door. Gigawatt manages to grab her and shock her unconscious.
Gigawatt takes their captives back to Oracle while the rest of the heroes converge on the science building. Silver wolf explores it with his speed powers and finds a passage leading to the tunnels that run under the campus.
At one intersection of the tunnel he sees two guards with machine guns and snake masks. He rushes forward and attacks them, knocking them out after a brief struggle. He and Storm don the uniforms to infiltrate Kobra’s cult.
Gigawatt drops off the captives and asks about his gloves. Oracle still has more important things to do than work on them, so he heads back to the university.
Storm and Silver Wolf find Kobra in front of a large group pacing back and forth. He is worried that the pair he sent into the labs hasn’t returned yet. Finally he sends two guards up to check on them.
At this point Gigawatt arrives and tries to pass himself off as the new scientist. Unfortunately Kobra is suspicious and orders him seized. Gigawatt does a flash bang that stuns the crowd and Storm adds a sonic blast. Silver Wolf decides to stay undercover to try and find the location of the bomb.
Gigawatt plows through the cultists to reach Kobra. They realize they are under attack and start to fight back. Storm is knocked down by a sea of fists. “Death to the unbelievers” the cult chants as they pummel her.
Gigawatt reaches Kobra, but finds him much less stunned than his followers. A thin membrane has protected his eyes from the flash and since snakes have no ears, he was immune to the sonic blast.
Kobra lashes out with his staff and holds Gigawatt at bay. During the struggle it becomes clear that Kobra is a highly trained martial artist. The cult leader is able to strike at Gigawatt’s shoulder with twin fangs that deposit concentrated cobra venom.
Gigawatt runs a current through his body, making Kobra jump back and clutch his arm. Kobra manages to retreat out the back door of the room. Gigawatt starts to go after him, but he can feel the deadly cobra venom coursing through his body.
As Kobra leaves Storm leaps at him and tries to tackle him, but she loses her grip on the slippery scale mail and he kicks her in the head. As he slips down the hallway Gigawatt launches a lightning bolt, but with his vision blurring it is not a direct hit and Kobra’s insulated suit shrugs it off.
Cultists grab Gigawatt, but he is able to shock them into letting go. Storm chases Kobra, but is held back by gunfire from two of his guards. With bullets slamming into the tunnel all around her, she manages to let off a sonic blast that stuns them. Kobra meanwhile, has escaped up a ladder to the surface.
At last help arrives. Answering their distress call Violet comes roaring in on her motorcycle accompanied by Recluse. Violet grabs Gigawatt just as he starts to pass out and takes him back through the narrow tunnels to the surface. Oracle tells them that if they don’t get the anti-venom within thirty minutes it will be too late. Violet says she will have no problem making it and proceeds to shoot recklessly through the streets towards the Clock Tower.
Recluse uses her webs to wrap up the cultists, including Silver Wolf. Kobra seems to have vanished.
Back at the Clock Tower Oracle has no choice but to show herself to Gigawatt and Violet to get Gigawatt the anti-venom he needs. She is able to save his life with minutes to spare.
“I can’t believe you went after a man named Kobra without bringing anti-venom. Didn’t Batman train you?” she chides him.
Gigawatt decides to work on his gloves while he recovers. Violet heads back to the campus.
As the police arrive, the cult prisoners are defiant declaring, “We haven’t lost if Kobra is still free.”
Silver Wolf needs Violet to pretend to torture him to establish his cover with the cult. Violet is more than happy to help. Catwoman arrives and lends a hand as well. When they are done with him they drag him back to the cult.
“Did you talk?” one of them asks at once.
“No.” Silver Wolf gasps.
“God, if they find out about the stadium, we’re finished.”
Silver Wolf immediately breaks his cover. Violet grabs him before the rest of the cult can attack. There are two stadiums in Gotham City, the professional football stadium where the Gotham Knights play and the smaller one at the university.
Silver Wolf heads across campus to the stadium while Violet roars across the city to the larger arena. When she gets there she searches, but finds nothing.
Meanwhile silver Wolf arrives at the college stadium. He enters it and sees two Kobra cultists lying on the ground apparently dead. Their faces are twisted into a hideous grin.
“I’m out of here,” Silver Wolf announces.
When they hear about his find the rest of the heroes rush to the location. Gigawatt suggests they contact Harley and have her bring along Ivy to hopefully calm her down. Harley seems a little too excited about catching up with her ex. Catwoman joins them as well.
At the stadium they find dead guards at every entrance, each of them marked with the Joker’s deadly toxin.
“Well, someone has to go in there,” Catwoman points out.
Violet volunteers. She enters the stadium and finds that the Kobra cult had taken the building over once the campus was evacuated. She sees evidence of some sort of equipment that is now gone, plus some material that is still present. One of the consoles has a flashing red button on it.
Cautiously everyone else makes their way into the building.
“What have they done to the grass!” Ivy exclaims, rushing out onto the field. The grass had been crushed as if something heavy was parked on it.
Harley shrugs and presses the red button.
“I can’t help it,” she explains. “I’m a born button pusher.”
Suddenly a horrifyingly familiar voice comes from the speakers in the stadium. It is a recorded message.
“Hello, Joker here. I know you’ve all been worried about those nasty snake bombs, well have no fear. Your uncle Joker has taken care of everything. I’ve replaced all the nasty snake DNA with some of my very own. Can you say Joker Bombs? I’m sure you’ll get a laugh out of it. Ta ta for now.”
An enraged Harley smashes the recording. It looks like he’s trying to Jokerize the entire city. DNA probably doesn’t work that way, but they can’t afford to take any chances. Also the cure Langstrom has been working on is worthless since he was designing it to stop snake bombs.
Darkstar takes off in search of the blimp. Oracle tells him that Gotham has twenty police blimps. Two are grounded for repair leaving eighteen blimps in the air. All of them have their GPS on except one, and that one was last seen investigating Gotham Univeristy.
Oracle gets the police to ground the rest of the blimps so there won’t be any confusion. A police blimp is sighted over the Diamond District, heading for the harbor.
Gigawatt is with Catwoman. Silver Wolf follows on his moped of justice. A rocket line attaches itself to the blimp allowing Kobra to climb up. Apparently he is trying to take over the blimp again.
Violet rides her motorcycle up to the roof and launches herself into the air, catching the blimp with a grappling hook. Gigawatt tries to jump his gyrocycle right into the blimp, but misses and winds up clinging to its side.
Once they are closer they see the blimp is on auto pilot, heading out over the harbor to smash into the statue of Lady Justice. The front of the blimp is filled with explosives that will disperse the chemicals over the whole city.
Darkstar rushes into the gondola of the blimp, but he is ambushed by Kobra who slashes him with a sword. He backs away from the fight, trying to control the blood loss. Ivy and Violet attack with drugged needles and clinging vines. Kobra blocks the first wave of needles, but is eventually slowed by the vine so a needle hits.
Kobra seems to be barely affected by the toxin and slashes the vines to continue the fight. Gigawatt and Catwoman search for the Joker, but find the rest of the ship empty.
Silver Wolf arrives and attacks with his superior speed. Kobra lashes out with poison blades, but can’t hit him. While he is distracted Darkstar shoots forward with his boot jets, slamming into Kobra. The super villain falls to the floor and Darkstar pummels him unconscious.
They are about to slam into the statue. Violet grabs the controls and tries to steer it clear, but the blimp has a lot of mass. A red light blinks indicating that the bomb might be on a timer.
Catwoman shouts for someone to break the window. When Gigawatt shatters the glass she dives out, depending on him to hold her ankles while she dangles upside down and defuses the bomb.
Darkstar takes Kobra to Liberty Island and the rest of them dive out before the blimp hits the water.
