Hello folks! Some friends in my cohort are doing a research capstone project for our Masters in Couple and Family Therapy program, researching sexual anxiety. If you are 18+, are comfortable answering questions about sex and sexuality, and have 10 minutes to spare, they'd really appreciate you taking their survey. Not just statistics, but do these things when it comes to medicine and health decisions. Research the studies done on the meds you're taking. Take these factors into account when it comes to reading through research papers. Do this research for medical procedures, makeup, food, drinks, sunscreens, perfumes, paints, the materials of the toys you're about to buy your new baby niece. Anything,everything. Question it all. If they didnt teach you this in school like they were supposed to teach yourself, or find someone who has the knowledge on how to do this (nowadays this is called continuing education)

Overall, fMRI research studies were one of my favourite types of studies to participate in as an undergraduate student. Though they definitely jostle you around a little more with the extra screening questions and the need to change, it was kind of fun. You’d want to make sure that nothing in you or on you is magnetic, but they do a great job of making sure that you don’t miss anything accidentally before going into the machine.

Finally comes the candy (metaphorically). Most if not all volunteer experiments come with remuneration. Whereas purely behavioural experiments (where you might answer questions or do a computer task) usually pay $10-$15 CAD/ hour, fMRI experiments do pay a bit higher because of the level of engagement you have, usually $25CAD / hour.
