I realised how underdeveloped Dorcas is as a character and she's the loml so I came up with a few (a lot) headcanons for her

I personally headcanon her as being academic rivals with Lily and Quidditch rivals with Marlene but somehow best friends with Mary which started out because they were the only two black girls in their year and bonded over the racism and braiding each other's hair. Imo she'd have stuck to the skittles even after most of them took the Mark but then they did something she couldn't forgive (maybe to Mary's family or smth) and that's when she decided to join the Order instead of staying neutral like Pandora. She probably wanted to go into Wizarding Law or experimentation, maybe in Arithmancy or Runes. I think she was a half blood (her mother was a witch, her dad was a squib maybe) but raised in a Muggle community so her first interaction with magic outside her family was on the train with Pandora and Evan. I hc her as only child living in a joint family with three or four cousins, both younger and older but if she had a sibling, it would be a younger sister. I don't think she ever forgave Sirius even in any timeline where he and Reg reconciled because while she understood that he had valid reasons for leaving, she couldn't relate because she'd never do the same to her cousins or siblings. She masterminded every prank or plan the skittles had but no one ever thought she was involved because the teachers loved her. She would definitely be popular because she argued a lot with blood supremacist or racists or even just guys in general to defend people. She was the one who showed Reg, Barty and Evan how wrong their racist, homophobic blood supremacist families were. I think she'd be very open about her queerness and her heritage too. The only reason she never became Head Girl was because of Dumbledore's blatant favouritism of Gryffindors, even McGonagall wanted her to be the Head Girl.

She had blackmail on every single person at Hogwarts and used that to get into the Slytherin Quidditch team after they refused to let her try out because she was a girl. She and Emma Vanity became the first girls on the Slytherin Quidditch team since Eileen Prince. Thought she was ace until Emma who was her first proper crush and they became fwb but broke it off after Emmeline came into the picture. She dated both Reg and Evan while they were closeted and being pressured by their parents to date someone "suitable". She became good friends with Emmeline and Lily during a group project in either Runes or Arithmancy. This forced her and Marlene into such close proximity that they were forced to acknowledge their feelings for each other and eventually started dating after flirting with each other. If you ship Dorlily then the confession happened after one of them hit the other with a stronger spell than they were supposed to be using during DADA and they ended up being hurt. She definitely had to listen to Pandora/Mary pining about Lily before they got together. She and Remus became friends after she deduced that he was a werewolf in third year and started researching on Wolfsbane for him. Barty ran away to her house instead of Reg's or Evan's. She, Barty and Evan blew up a lot of shit because of their experimentation. She and Reg read a lot of Muggle literature which she introduced to him and frequently had debates about it. Muggle literature was one of the things that finally got through to Regulus and showed him how wrong blood supremacy was. Dorcas took Divination to understand Pandora better despite thinking that the subject was bullshit. She defended all of the skittles because people kept taunting them. She was the one who taught Barty, Evan and Pandora how to fight the "Muggle way". She was Mary's gay awakening but Mary never had an actual crush on her. She was definitely a hatstall between Slytherin and Ravenclaw.

wow, I love how detailed your version of Dorcas is....I feel like a lot of people struggle to characterize her, so this is really cool to read! I love the idea of her being friends with people from so many houses, too.

longg fic premise

truly diabolical fic where sirius is in slytherin, so he has a slightly better relationship with his brother than in canon. the train scene in their first year still happens, except sirius is slightly dumbfounded when the hat insists he should be in slytherin. so he's still best friends with james despite not interacting as much.

and before sirius knew that remus was james' friend, he bullied him until remus told james, and sirius agreed to back off. then they still become animagi to run around with remus during full moons.

and since sirius and james aren't in the same house, there are less opportunities for them to gang up on severus. so severus ends up having more one-on-one fights with sirius. and then james gets with lily, making sirius ill with jealousy. severus and lily aren't friends at this point. also, since sirius is in slytherin, while he still doesn't believe in the blood supremacy idiocy, he does let more of it slide because he can't be threatening to kill his classmates every second now, can he?

and so now sirius has more time in his hands since james is off with lily, so he starts spending more time with the slytherins and his brother.

he still continues to try and bully severus, but since it's no longer 4 vs. 1, severus just laughs in his face and is like, "my fights with your brother are more intellectually stimulating, you brute," and this sends sirius spiraling because what the hell, how is calling someone a filthy halfblood more fun than getting into a full-blown fist fight???

so he switches tactics, and starts using sarcasm and verbal cruelty instead. and they kind of start just insulting each other instead of drawing wands. and then severus just tells him how it's funny that regulus is a better person than him even though he's a literal blood supremacist. and this sends sirius spiraling AGAIN, because what the heck, that's true.... and he's literally just like his own damn mother.

so they have a truce, sirius no longer insults severus and he also prevents regulus from targetting him. (evan and avery are in the background secretly cheering because thank goodness they finally get along ugh.)

and then sirius somehow catches feelings for severus, but he doesn't say anything yet. and one day, he overhears evan and severus talking about him. and evan asks if severus likes sirius and severus is like, "ew. i'd rather date Potter than black."

and.. it stings. it really fucking stings.

the resentment building over james comes pouring out when james catches sirius and severus studying together in the library. he Blows up, he's shouting, like, "what the hell, i leave for a few weeks and you're rubbing elbows with SNIVELLUS??" and sirius gets so mad, he points out how james practically ditched him to go give all his attention to lily, and how now that he thinks about it, he doesn't really care anymore because ever since james got with her, she's been talking shit about purebloods and slytherins and calling all of them wannabe death eaters and james Agrees with her. and ever since the prank, it's gotten even worse, and now lily is suspicious of him. (severus is amused and slightly pissed off atp like yeah he almost DIED wow sirius you royally messed up, but he also gets why sirius would be pissed at james (he's pleased about that))

and james is so shocked because sirius never even said anything about this before?? and also hes so upset, because he really has been missing sirius and now that hes here, hes been getting all cozied up with snape, which should be ILLEGAL. so he gets slightly defensive and on the verge of tears, he asks sirius why he didnt just talk to him, and makes the mistake of telling him how fun it used to be when they both hexed and bullied severus. and sirius gets annoyed, hes like, yeah well, you didnt seem to like it when i bullied lupin. and severus at this point is getting angry.

he yells that he's not their damn charity case, and that they can argue like a couple elsewhere thats not in front of him and storms off.

and now sirius is royally pissed off, because great! now both james and severus are mad at him. and he remembers how severus said he'd rather date james than himself. so he yells at james, pointing out how obsessed and fixated he is with severus and also marches off in the opposite direction. and james comes to two massive Realisations. that he actually fancies sirius and is weirdly obsessed with severus for reasons hes not willing to admit just yet.

and he's just left standing there like an idiot as he thinks about his mistakes.

he goes numbly back to lily. now LILY, is mad at him, oh my God. and hes groaning like what NOW?? and lily is pissed that james keeps bringing up sirius when theyre together, and that he should stop being friends with sirius since he's clearly mingling with the death eaters in slytherin. james wants to reason with her and try to explain what happened but he realises that wellllll he cant survive without sirius actually. lily also talks how she cut her friendship off with severus, and james accidentally blurts out that that makes her a bad friend.

and lily gets mad at him because hes lowkey right, but how dare james of all people tell her she was a bad friend, he was the only who dumped severus into the black lake. which was SIRIUS' idea btw, so she was not about to agree with him. she takes one more look at how miserable james looks without the bane of her existence: sirius, and decides that she has had enough of their messy relationship and breaks up with him.

james is really surprised that he feels a lot less heartbroken than he thought he would have.

sirius, on the other hand, still weirdly wound up from their fight, corners severus and angrily tells him that james wouldn't look at him if he were the last person left standing on earth. severus, still mad at sirius, pauses, flushing, because what was this guy waffling about. but still wanting to stand his ground, he tells sirius that he's projecting (LOL).

now sirius is actually hurt and angry, but before he can say anything, severus kisses him.

and this, ladies and gentlemen, is when james potter bursts into the room.

THE BATTLE OF LIONS AND SNAKES - R.A.B

As the first wizarding war draws near, the rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin becomes even more visible. You'd thought that being James's sister and a Slytherin would change things, but it only made things worse. Pairing: Regulus Black x fem!Potter!reader. Genre: fluff, some angst. Warnings: pureblood supremacy, war talk, slightly dark themes? Swearing, Sirius being a dick. YN calls Sirius a cunt.

The Potters and Blacks were, perhaps, two of the most popular wizarding families at Hogwarts; along with the Malfoys, Prewetts and the Notts. Yes, being pureblood had it's privileges, but it was popularity that put James Potter and Sirius Black on the map.

James and Sirius were the kinds of people that no-one disliked. They were good at sports, funny, daring, and over-all good natured people. They might not have the best grades like Remus Lupin or Lily Evans, but they were damn good at making people laugh, and no-one seemed to mind if they lost any house points.

When the Sorting Hat was sorting you into your house, it had mentioned Gryffindor. Out of all the houses, Gryffindor was the house to be in. Gryffindor made stars, and was home to many famous witches and wizards.

James was a leader. He became Prefect in his fifth year and Head Boy in his sixth year, and was the youngest Quidditch player in a hundred years to be made Captain of the Gryffindor team. He was a good friend - always loyal, always listening to the side of everyone's conversations, always making sure everyone was involved. He was a gentleman - when he had his heart set on someone, he knew exactly what to do and how to treat her right (in the later years, of course). Your mother and father were extremely proud of him.

You yourself were somewhat similar, as his younger sister, but you always envied him for finding most things in life easy. James had every opportunity laid out for him. You, however, had to work hard if you wanted something, sometimes twice as hard as the average student; hence why the hat placed you in Slytherin.

Being in Slytherin and being a Potter caused quite an uproar your first year at Hogwarts. Everyone in Slytherin had a bone to pick with James, based on whatever prank he and his friends had done on the house. Because of this, everyone had some kind of opinion on you, except for the first years, who knew nothing better but to be your friend.

You had met your first ever friend on the Hogwarts Express. James had brought you to sit with his friends, the "Marauders", as they liked to call themselves. You'd spent two Christmases with them before coming to Hogwarts, and honestly, they were pretty stuck-up, especially Remus, who was some sort of care-home yob, and glared at you every time you spoke.

Eventually, you left the carriage, telling James you wanted to make some new friends. He didn't mind, and jokingly told you not to make friends with the "wrong sort", although you didn't really know what that meant.

All of the carriages were full of people who looked older than you and scarier. You walked further down the train, wondering why some students were staring at you. You ignored them, looking through all of the carriages. Finally, after quite some time, you came across a carriage that was almost empty.

A small boy was sitting on the left side of the carriage, reading a book about Ancient Runes. You smiled, he looked so peaceful compared to everyone else; and he was your age. You put your hand to the door and knocked. He looked up, frowning.

The small boy put his book down and got up. He opened the door, "what do you want?" His dark eyebrows furrowing in confusion. You smiled apologetically, "I was just looking for a place to sit. My brother and his friends are a bit annoying." The small boy looked you up and down and stepped aside. "You can sit with me."

"My brother and his friends are a bit stuck up, too. I met them on the platform. My name's Regulus, by the way. Regulus Black."

Your eyes widened. This was Regulus Black? The brother that Sirius Black despised so much? Well, he didn't seem quite so decietful and troll-like after all, but perhaps siblings just disagreed with each other. You wondered why he was all by himself.

"I enjoy my own company, normally, but mother said to make friends. You seem like a respectable enough witch... Would you mind telling me your name?" You tried not to giggle at how Regulus spoke. You'd never heard a ten-year-old speak so posh before. You smiled, "YN Potter, nice to meet you."

Regulus's eyes darkened but he shook his head. "You're not bad for a Potter. Let's be friends." Regulus Black held out his hand, and you shook it, sitting down next to him.

The train continued to move through Scotland. "I'm afraid I'll be put in Slytherin," you said after awhile, putting your head in your hands, "all of my family's been in Gryffindor for thousands of years, but the other day dad joked that I was more cunning than bold."

Regulus looked at you, "I think what you did earlier was pretty bold." You scoffed, "what, asking you if I could sit with you?" He grinned and nodded, "yeah. Do you know how many people avoided me just then before you got here? Even in the Slytherin carriage they think I'm some sort of a freak." You frowned, "I don't think you're a freak. You're just a regular kid to me."

Regulus pulled a face, "I'll have you know I'm the second heir to the Most Noble and Ancient House of Black, an extremely respectable and non-regular young wizard." You let out a snort of a laugh, "what kind of kid has to be respectable?!" Before covering your mouth. Regulus smiled at you, "the ones who don't snort like that." You giggled.

Regulus started to get more comfortable. "All of my family's been in Slytherin for thousands of years, just like how yours is with Gryffindor. When Sirius was put in Gryffindor two years ago mum went absolutely ballistic. Maybe I might be put in Gryffindor too, but I think I'll probably be in Slytherin... I wish I was brave enough to run away."

You snorted again, "I wish I was brave enough to be in Gryffindor." Regulus laughed loudly. You turned to him, "if I am put in Slytherin, it won't be so bad if I'm with you." And he smiled.

And you were right. With Regulus by your side, you found it easy making friends in first year. Everyone in Slytherin was a pureblood, and was either scared of him (which you thought was truly ridiculous) or they respected him.

As the years went by, it was clear to most people that the two of you were as close as two peas in a pod. You were often seen together so much that on the rare occasions where you weren't together, you were asked where the other one was.

It was in your third year where you realised your feelings for the youngest Black brother was not just those of friendship, but something much stronger. As your crush grew and your Slytherin friends teased you about it, you began to worry and think of what would happen if you were to date Regulus, and what would happen when your big brother and his best friend found out that you were dating the little brother that he despised so.

And in fourth year, as if nudging these events into reality even further, you and Regulus began to date. In fifth year, the two of you became prefects and Quidditch Captains, and it was clear that you were a powerful unstoppable couple. Despite this, however, some people still did not agree with the dynamic of your relationship.

It was during lunch in the middle of your fifth year did the rivalry between Slytherin and Gryffindor really take its poll.

The war was almost in full motion, and it was obvious to anyone with brains that Voldemort did not have good intentions. There had been whispers in the Slytherin Common Room of some older students who had joined Voldemort's side through some kind of ritual.

James and Sirius were convinced that Regulus was one of these people, and as usual, had convinced themselves that they were right.

"What exactly are you trying to say, James?" You snapped. Your older brother put his hands up in surrender. "Don't get mad at me, I'm just the messenger. Padfoot thinks you should reconsider your relationship with Regulus, that's all." Merlin, were you glad that Reg was out in the pitch training. Sometimes his mad Quidditch obsession was a good thing.

You turned to Sirius now, "you think that, do you?" And Sirius shrugged. James jumped in quickly, keen to stop an argument from happening.

"Well you know how Padfoot's family are all very... Traditional," James was picking his words carefully, watching your facial expressions, "and he told me the other day that his folks had been talking about some dark lord for a long time, like, ever since second year, and how they were all going to join him and support him, and Padfoot was just saying-"

"Regulus is bound to join up!" Sirius butted in. James turned to him and sighed. You looked at him. "He means well, but he's easily coeerced into things, and he's always trying to impress mother, and they always brainwash him, I mean, just look at Bella."

You scowled. Sirius's parents may have been horrible people, but that didn't mean everyone else in his family was. Okay, perhaps one or two of his cousins had done some nasty things in the past, and Bellatrix was one of them, but you would always remember her as the girl who cursed some older students for boxing your ears. She'd said any friend of Regulus was a friend of hers and that you could count on her.

"Bella is a perfectly kind and respectable witch. She's really nice, actually." Sirius rolled his eyes at this. "Well, whatever, but don't come crying to me when your boyfriend has suddenly run off to join Voldemort. I'm telling you, all of them are like that. You know, at least ninety percent of Slytherin house are evil!" Sirius threw his arms up and you began to fume.

"But you always forget the main thing, don't you, Black?!" Typical Sirius Black to hate something but to leave an exception. "I'm a Slytherin too! You think we're all just so evil, do you? You think all of us want to join Voldemort? Since Regulus apparently will, maybe I will to PROVE YOU WRONG, you righteous, narcissistic cunt!"

Lily and Marlene gasped but you didn't care. Sirius scoffed even louder. "Oh, that's rich, coming from YN "I don't want to be a Slytherin" Potter! But I suppose after snogging my dear brother everything's fine, is it? Suppose the death eaters will just have to snog you to convince you to join up-"

"CONFRINGO!" The Gryffindors shrieked loudly at the sudden spell. Sirius flew backwards, knocking down the students who were sitting next to him and you knew who it was immeadietly. Regulus was always rather powerful with his magic.

Sirius got up and glared at his younger brother, taking out his wand. Regulus held his chin high, "don't you say a word against my girlfriend." And Sirius scoffed. "Is she really your girlfriend, or is she just someone who you lock lips with in your bed? LEVICORPUS!"

You dove infront of Regulus just before you saw Sirius wave his wand, but forgot to take out your own, and now you were hovering in the air. James let out an enraged roar, getting up. "WHAT THE FUCK, PADFOOT! DID YOU JUST CURSE MY FUCKING SISTER?!" You didn't think you'd ever heard him be so mad before.

Sirius glared at him, "I was trying to get Regulus, but the little weasel doged it just like everything else in his life!" You tried to fight the enchantment, "GO FUCK YOURSELF, BLACK!" kicking at the air. The other students laughed.

"Expelliarmus!" Regulus flicked his wand and Sirius's wand flew out of his hand. "You're just as bad as mother," Regulus hissed, "cursing an innocent person." Sirius rolled his eyes, "oh, I'm as bad as mother? Who's the one still grovelling about her knees and begging for her admiration?! Who's the one who-"

"CAN THE TWO OF YOU JUST SHUT UP AND PUT MY SISTER BACK? FINITE INCANTATUM!" James wove his wand angrily, and you fell back down to the ground. The school had stopped laughing now, and were all just watching intently.

Regulus turned to you, "are you okay?" You dusted yourself off and nodded, "I'm good." You turned to Sirius. "Not that it's any of your business, but Regulus is my boyfriend and I love him. So if you can't deal with that you can just get lost."

James looked the two of you up and down before nodding solemnly. He turned to you, "YN, Regulus, I'm sorry. I didn't see it before, but I do now, and I can tell that you're in love. So, what I'm trying to say is, if you want to be together, I don't have a problem with it anymore." James nodded at Regulus, who still looked a bit taken aback that he was being addressed.

Sirius scowled, "I still do."

This time it was Regulus who rolled his eyes. He then turned to you and grinned, "since you've got such a problem with it, Sirius, watch this." You looked at Regulus in confusion before getting the memo and grinning. Regulus smiled too, grabbing your waist and leaning in, kissing you on the lips. Slytherin house cheered as the others stared in shock.

Sirius scoffed in disbelief, "whatever." And you smiled, kissing Regulus again. James made a sound, "you better remove Regulus from my sister, Padfoot, or you won't have a brother anymore." You giggled softly, threading your fingers through Regulus's dark curls before looking up into his green eyes and pulling away.

Something I think we should talk about more is the parallel between Peter Pettigrew and Regulus Black.

I’m going to use fanon and headcanons but also canon for this so please keep that in mind when reading.

We don’t know a lot about either of these characters but what we do know is that their paths are the complete opposite of eachother.

Peter Pettigrew:

Peter grows up in a loving, healthy environment. He has friends like Marlene and James throughout his childhood, up to and including his Hogwarts days.

Peter is sorted into Gryffindor and instantly becomes friends with Sirius and Remus. Where they become the marauders with James.

Peter grows up surrounded by Muggleborns, halfbloods, “bloodtraitors”. He knows that blood supremacy is a ridiculous ideology. He spends his time at Hogwarts helping and defending that group of people from the prejudice they face, alongside his friends.

On paper and to a lot of people, Peter is the “right” sort.

He has his own hardships to face. Rumours to combat. His struggles and failures. He never has to do it on his own.

But for some reason, some unknown reason, he becomes a death eater. He becomes a spy in the Order.

He joined the Order but somewhere along the way, he found himself becoming a death eater and spying and relaying information from the Order to Voldemort.

Peter is the reason the McKinnons are killed. The reason his childhood best friend, Marlene is killed.

As a test of his loyalty to Voldemort and he succeeds.

Peter then goes on to kill James and Lily. Leaving Harry to become the chosen one and an orphan. He frames Sirius and fakes his death.

Peter is the reason Voldemort comes back into a body in 1995.

Peter then is killed by his own magical hand in the cellars of Malfoy Manor. (Idk the reason this happened because I haven’t read it yet in the books)

Peter was on the “right” path, and nobody knows when that changed or why. Peter is an enigma and a very interesting character. His betrayal hits the hardest because it was unexpected, because nobody saw it coming and that is why he was the perfect spy.

Regulus Black:

Regulus grows up in an unloving, unhealthy, and even abusive environment. He grows up surrounded by his older cousins and other pureblood houses. This follows him to Hogwarts.

Regulus is sorted into Slytherin. Whether he makes friends or not is unknown. But for this I will assume that he does not have any.

Regulus grows up surrounded by mostly Purebloods. He is fed the same rhetoric his entire life. That muggles and muggleborns are a disgrace, a stain to wizarding blood, magic stealers, that they are evil. That purebloods should rule over them, that they are inferior to purebloods.

What is Regulus to do but believe it? When the same lies are told to him over and over by hundreds of different people.

Of course, Regulus faces prejudice himself. The stigma around simply being a Slytherin. “There’s not a single witch or wizard who went bad who wasn’t in Slytherin” (which, btw, is a ridiculous statement. And rather stupid to claim that an 11 year should be feared because they are a Slytherin… like the cycle of hate is never going to break… anyway this is a whole other topic that I want to talk about in a different post)

On paper and to a lot of people, Regulus is the “wrong” sort.

He has his own hardships to face. Rumours to combat. His struggles and failures. However, he must face each of them alone.

Regulus becomes the youngest death eater at 16. Whether he was groomed for it is unknown but it is likely. Whether he joined on his own or not, it is likely that he was guided down this path by someone older than him, an adult. (Most likely Bellatrix).

Regulus was still at Hogwarts for at least another year or so before he discovered a Horcrux - the locket.

“…Master Regulus came to find Kreacher in his cupboard one night, and Master Regulus was strange, not as he usually was, disturbed in his mind, Kreacher could tell… and he asked Kreacher to take to the cave, the cave where Kreacher had gone with the Dark Lord…”

- Deathly Hallows, Kreachers Tale, Chapter 10

Regulus goes on to betray Voldemort and retrieve the locket which in turn takes his life. It’s clear that Regulus did not agree with what had been done, “disturbed in his mind”.

“To make you mortal once more” his says in his letter.

Regulus was on the “wrong” path, and nobody truely knows when that changed. Regulus is an enigma and a very interesting character. His sacrifice was unknown for many years and unacknowledged. Nobody knew the truth about Regulus, nobody important to him, not even the world. His disappearance, his death, was silent.

Both of them are branded cowards. You can argue that they were.

However, you can also argue that it was brave of both of them, what they did.

Bravery or Cowardice?

Peter’s betrayal.

Regulus’ betrayal, or rather his sacrifice.

They are parallel lines going in opposite directions.

It’s interesting to note that should one single decision had been made differently, their lives would have been completely different. For better or for worse.

Okay, hear me out. a jegulus miraculous au.. James is ladybug, and his superhero name is Helios (named after the sun god). Regulus is chat noir, and his superhero name is Astraeus (name after the star god)

Regulus, like Adrien, has to live up to his family's expectations, and the only time he can be himself is when he is Astraeus

James is friends with everyone and will do anything he can to help them, and everyone loves him like marinette!!!

also imagine the love square?! Astraeus loves Helios, but he's in love with Regulus, who denies his feelings for James because he loves Helios!!! Also, the black brother angst would be amazing, Sirius escaped the family and became a rockstar while Reg is stuck doing whatever his mother tells him to do.

Kagami - Barty (Can have some bartylus, but they realise they're not meant for each other, and then it turns into jegulus and rosekiller!!)

Regulus Black headcanons?

I don't often think much about Regulus, but here you go !!

How I view him:

Regulus Black: the most annoying younger brother ever. Feels superior to everyone and anyone because of his name and blood status and gets very easily upset/cries a lot whenever he feels disrespected. Thought he was better than everyone and had a very holier-than-thou attitude towards everything. Was smart, but not the brightest student Hogwarts had seen. Quite cowardly and didn't like violence even though he idolised people who were violent and would try to justify it. Always tried to be the perfect child to win his parents affection, but was never given a second thought by them. Extremely competitive but would throw a hissy fit anytime someone did better than him. He's kind of like a pathetic little guy to me. A wet paper towel.

Rosewater — they sit in awkward silence together. Autism x autism. They study and read together and do a lot of blood supremacy together. Rosewaterkiller is also very fun.

Moonwater — in a non-canon muggle au they could've been besties. Remus would introduce him to new music and they'd study together. I think they'd have similar taste in books and Remus would like to seem smart for him. Also, let them kiss.

Jegulus — honestly I do not like them unless in a non canon muggle au. Like Regulus has to be COMPLETELY different to how he is in a wizarding au. But I appreciate their vibes.

Kregulus — unfortunately Kreacher is his only friend. They are best friends and he was the only being Regulus would talk to for the first few years of his life.

This is really hard for me because Lily and Remus have always been my favorite characters, but I genuinely think Sirius is the best character in the Marauders.

I could spend hours talking about him, but I feel we don’t discuss enough just how smart and self-aware this boy was. Even as a kid, he never believed in the blood supremacy his parents tried to instill in him. At eleven, he became the first Black in history not to be sorted into Slytherin. That in itself was an act of rebellion and bravery. He was incredibly brave from such a young age, and he always found pride in not being like his family.

We don't know for sure if he was physically abused by his parents, but we do know that he was 100% psychologically, emotionally, and verbally abused.

And there's more, definitely more. Sirius is one of the strongest characters in Harry Potter, along with Harry himself. He found a family in James for the first time in his life, so it’s ironic that he would later be accused of killing the person who opened his home to him. He spent his life carrying his last name like a burden while trying to prove to everyone and himself that he was nothing like his family. And in the end, it didn’t matter, because he was still accused of killing his best friend and being just like the rest of the Blacks. He tried to keep Harry safe, giving him to Hagrid along with his motorbike, and still, he spent twelve years in Azkaban for a crime he didn’t commit. Even after he got out, he was never entirely free, but he was just... full of life, even when the Dementors and Azkaban tried to take it from him. He was so willing to fight, so willing to live for Harry and protect him with everything he had. He never stopped loving, never stopped fighting for what was right.

That he showed Harry a glimpse of what real parental love is, that he was loved... that his little brother loved him so much and never judged him for leaving, even when he missed him like an aching void that could never be filled. I hope he knows James never blamed him for what happened, and that Remus never really hated him.

In the end, I just hope he knows that he was loved deeply, missed profoundly, and remembered always as a brave, loving soul who showed people around him what it means to truly live. To those who mattered, he wasn’t remembered as the criminal son of the Black family, but as a loyal friend, a devoted godfather, and a beacon of hope. He was not just a survivor of his circumstances but a hero who rose above them.

Constantly getting into fights (mainly with Brooklyn kids) but way too charming to get expelled. Lives with Jack (and Medda as his new chosen mom) after running away from his family. Acts like doesnt give a shit, but would hex anyone who touches Albert or Spot.

Albert DaSilva (Marlene McKinnon but even more dramatic) – Gryffindor, pureblood, but like the Mckinnons, his family doesn’t care about blood status. The first to befriend Spot in a genuine way, not because of fear or alliances. Flirts with everyone but secretly only cares about Race and Spot. Gets away with everything because he’s charming and just unhinged?? The last to realize they’re in a relationship, even when Race and Spot are already on board because he’s an obvious idiot. Always being dragged into trouble and absolutely loves it.

How Spralbert Becomes a Thing

Race and Albert have been best friends forever. They sneak out together, one year, when the teachers tried to split uo the marauders, they even shared a dorm, and constantly get detention for pulling dumb stunts. They both think their relationship is just friendship, even when they’re basically acting like boyfriends.

Spot is a problem.

At first, he and Race fight constantly. It starts with house rivalry, but deep down, there’s undeniable attraction.

Albert is the bridge—he befriends Spot first, not caring about the whole Brooklyn vs. Manhattan thing.

Spot starts protecting Albert before he even realizes he likes him.

I would never enjoy them as a “realistic” couple in the same way Remus and Sirius are. And anon, don’t fear it will be a one time thing if I do it. But there is something so tempting about an uptight Regulus, maybe a magical AU where he’s struggling with his blood supremacy beliefs and hates werewolves, half breeds, etc, and so finds himself at quite a problematic crossroads when he realises he is in fact, crushing on one. Remus would be taking every advantage of that pretty little know it all.

This could work as an AU for wolfstar in all honesty, where Sirius isn’t so kind and is a bit more saturated by his family’s foul beliefs. But if it were to be wolfstar, it would end up being a full story arc of Sirius falling in love with Remus and that love is the lifeline that pulls him out of the hold his family has on him. Being each other’s worst enemy and best friend, sneaking around, all that. It would be ugly and angsty and full of depth, whereas this, pure filth for the sake of filth.

Nothing deep about this other than Remus’ horse 🐓 slamming the bigotry out of Regulus.

The excuse that Regulus was brainwashed is pathetic because, if that’s the case, then we can excuse Walburga and Orion and literally every single other pure-blood supremacist in the series because these beliefs were passed down from generation to generation. Were they all brainwashed and therefore not responsible for their actions?

Refusing to believe that people are beneath you and should be ostracised from society at best or killed at worst based on their parentage is not something that is hard to understand as wrong and abhorrent. The Weasleys are proof of that, so are the Potters and so are Sirius and Andromeda, his own brother and cousin.

I also HATE the argument that Sirius had a support system to guide him away from his beliefs while Regulus had none. SIRIUS DID NOT NEED HIS FRIENDS TO TELL HIM BLOOD SUPREMACY WAS WRONG, HE KNEW IT HIMSELF! We see him wanting to defy his family BEFORE he’s sort in Gryffindor and before he befriended James, Remus and Peter. Stop insulting and diminishing his intellect and character.

Do you think James and Sirius would ever keep secrets from each other? It’s really just my gut feeling but I think James wouldn’t. However, I’m not sure about Sirius, he seems to me the type to bottle up his emotions and put up a tough front because he wouldn’t want James to worry about him. Would Sirius talk to James about how his family makes him feel?

On the whole, no, I think that the trust that we see they share would effectively dissolve any boundaries or reservations they'd have and it wouldn't even be a question of "I can talk to Sirius/James about this".

However, as you say, I think James sort of never has those reservations. I think James is naturally very open and he wants to share things with Sirius so he does, for him it's mostly as simple as that. James "trusted Black above all his other friends" and that is presented without question, there's no competitor, and I think it's as simple as that for James.

For Sirius it would take longer, he'd sit and stew on things a while privately but he would always tell James sooner or later. I agree that he bottles his feelings up more and he puts on this almost bored exterior. When Sirius tells Harry about his family, it's just "they're dark wizards and I hate them" and he doesn't really go into depth, he seems almost annoyed that he has to talk about them. Sirius takes things in his stride so I think conveying difficult things in his life would always take the form of an inconvenience in his delivery to minimise the sympathy, maybe, but I think his actual feelings would be stronger than that, he'd just regulate them alone - perhaps as a result of being expected to compose himself by his family.

I think James would always know about Sirius' family, but the specifics of Sirius' feelings and specific incidents might come later. I think it would be like "my mum and dad are strict", "my whole family believe in blood supremacy", "my cousin married Lucius Malfoy" rather than going into real detail and at 11, 12 years old James is kind of satisfied with those as facts and maybe doesn't feel the need to dig deeper or realise the wider implications until they're a bit older and he realises the severity/regularity of these snippets.

As they go through school I think Sirius would gradually be more revealing but I still don't think they're conversations that Sirius would want to last long. Sirius is quite clear about marking his difference within the family home so I don't see why he would try to hide that at school, I just think it would be a factual thing publicly and it would just be James who he'd be like "She made the house-elf spy on me all summer" kind of details to, again in a venting way. We don't get much sadness from Sirius about his parents in the books, just hatred and a desire for distance so I think at Hogwarts he'd largely be content just by dint of being away from them.

Also I think with Remus' werewolf secret, with the Animagus secret that they all share responsibility for, the trust is there. Sirius goes to James after he's told Snape about the Whomping Willow - I feel risking James' anger/disgust/whatever negative feeling James may have felt overwhelms any other things Sirius may have found difficult to share.

By the time Regulus joins the Death Eaters, I think Sirius and James would be at a stage where sharing things would be natural, and I think Sirius would go to James to vent about it unprompted - "What the fuck is he doing? Is he stupid? He's sixteen years old, I can't believe this, I bet you he thinks our doting mother and father will love him more, the idiot".

James I see as being more protective of his information in regards to Sirius, but I also don't really see James as having any secrets. I don't think they'd intentionally hide anything from each other and I don't think they'd be able to. James and Sirius have a very equal bond in terms of intellect and ability and I think the other would always be the person who would "get it" best and who would be thinking within the same parameters, thinking most as the other would, who would come up with the most fitting solution for each other, so it would be natural for them to want to share and to have the other's opinion.

Ultimately, I don't see any meaningful secrets between them. I think they know each other well enough to recognise when something is being concealed, and I think they'd both actively want to share, to a point where it's not even something they have to weigh up. Even straying into fic territory where they hide their feelings for each other, I think they'd both either work it out or have to tell the other eventually.
