THE ATLAS SIX

So I was actually really excited to read this book but I’m already halfway and I’m still waiting for the plot to excite me. It’s like when the tension is being built so you can have some grand information revealed. But at some point the sole tension in just not enough and I need something to happen.

But all that is happening feels so blunt and flat.

And the characters are quite awful. And not in a way “I love how awful this person is”. No. More like “it’s so irritating how awful they are”.

Parisa is just a big no.

Tristan is just straight up rude.

Reina is basically a supporting character with pretty much no life of her own going on.

Libby is… really not that irritating. I just don’t see why people hate her so much. Nothing she actually does is that bad.

Don’t even get me started on Callum.

The only person who has more than one dimension is actually Nico (who btw is way more irritating than Libby) who has two dimensions (thanks to Gideon only)

Atlas and Dalton have the combined personality on the level of the absolute zero.

The charisma of all this people equals the charisma of a potato.

And the dialogs between Nico and Libby? Their bickering? It sounds so forced and unnecessary. That’s how 12 year olds roast each other. I have never heard an adult person communicate that way. Yikes

It’s just that book irritates me so much. I had such high hopes for it. And it just doesn’t deliver

Each installment blew me away as I watched Blake’s six protagonists gradually find and/or destroy themselves. My mind was continuously expanded by her prose and it made me question my every decision. It’s a soul crushing read, but perhaps also a necessary one.
