Reindeer - @noblehouseofgay - Word Count - 179 - 25 days of Jegumas
Tumblr media
Regulus was standing in the kitchen waiting for their hot chocolate to finish up when he heard a loud giggle then Harry talking loudly to James.
"Daddy its you.. its you" Harry yelled from the living room.
"It is Haz" James chuckled.
Of course by now he had grown curious to what they were looking at. He stalked toward the boys who sat on the carpet wrapped in fuzzy blankets. The fire under the tv crackling loudly.
Regulus let out a loud laugh when he noticed they were watching Rudolf the red nose reindeer. Harry was wiggling his little feet from under the covers as he laughed at the movie.
"Papa its daddy" Harry yelled again but this time staring at Regulus.
"Oh it is" He laughed moving down onto his knees to give a kiss to Harrys temple, then placing an even softer kiss to James's lips.
"The hot cocoa should be done any minute" He smiled still on his knees next to the two boys.
"Cocoa" Harry yelled before bursting into an even bigger fit of giggles.

Regulus black microfic - Hate - word count: 211
Regulus is angry when Sirius leaves, but not at his brother. He could never hate Sirius, Sirius who took a million curses for him, Sirius who stole their mother’s attention to keep him safe, Sirius who stayed up late in his bed singing him lullabies when the nightmares got so bad he couldn’t sleep. He doesn’t hate Sirius for leaving him, he’s proud of him if he’s being honest, no matter how much it hurts to see him go. No, he doesn’t hate Sirius. He hates himself. He hates that he wasn’t selfish enough to go with him, hates that he stayed and he hates that he wishes he hadn’t. He isn’t brave like Sirius and he hates that too. He doesn’t hate Sirius, he could never hate Sirius, but he can’t hate his mother either, and maybe that’s what he hates the most. He can’t hate either of them so he hates himself, he hates, and hates, and hates.
He hates until he’s letting dead hands drag him into the depths, and he doesn’t hate the hands because all along this is what he wanted, to keep Sirius safe, to be free. He greets death like an old friend, and for the first time in 18 years he doesn’t hate.

jegulus - anonymous request - word count: 346
“Never have I never…” Sirius started, eyes glued to James, “....kissed a Slytherin.”
He knew it was a cheap shot. But he had to know for sure. The idea had been in his head for weeks and he needed proof.
So braced himself and waited for his best friend to take a drink. But he grew extremely distracted when he saw Peter, who was across from him, move to take a swig from his butterbeer.
“Wormy!?” he gasped, glaring at his friend.
“It was one time!” Peter shrugged, grinning.
By the time Sirius looked back to James, it was too late. He could have already taken a drink without Sirius seeing. Grumbling, Sirius focused on the next few questions.
On his next turn, he picked a question that he figured was foolproof.
“Never have I ever…” he said, starting to feel the effects of the alcohol, “had a secret relationship.”
But before he could get a good look at whether or not James or Regulus drank, there were shouts and yelps, and Sirius couldn’t help but turn his head to see both Marlene and Dorcas drinking, twin looks of sheepish guilt on their faces.
“I knew it!” Barty Crouch shouted, eyes wide.
“Oi, you need to drink too, Junior!” Dorcas yelled. “I know about you and Evan!”
The chaos that resulted was more than enough time for James and Regulus to both drink without Sirius seeing.
And so it went for three more turns. Whatever he said, a secret was revealed, but it was not the secret he was looking for. He was getting more and more frustrated and more and more drunk until finally he realized..
“Never have I ever kissed Regulus Black!” he shouted, staring daggers at James.
But before James could move, Sirius felt Remus, who was sitting next to him, take a quick drink.
“Remus?” he screeched. “What the fuck?”
Looking down and stifling a grin, Remus bit his lip before answering. “We both had shit to figure out, okay?”
He never did figure out for sure if James was snogging Regulus.

core - @jegulus-microfic - word count: 209
James was sitting on his bed, hands trembling.
“Prongs, you look like you’re about to throw up, mate. Are you good?” Remus asked cautiously. He had a book balanced in one hand while the other was carding through Sirius’ hair. Sirius, who was lying in Remus lap, tentatively opened one eye to look at his best friend.
“Well erm it’s just …” James trailed off, not making eye contact.
Concerned, Sirius propped himself next to Remus on the bed. “You know you can talk to us about anything, right?” Sirius said gently.
At this Peter shuffled closer to the edge of his bed, giving James an encouraging look. “You can do it, James,” giving him a small smile and nod.
James took a deep breath.
“Wellitsjustthatregulusandihavebeendatingforthepastmonthandmenottellingyouhasbeeneatingmealiveandicantdoitanymore,” James spilled out in one breath.
“What?” Sirius asked, perplexed.
“Regulus and I are dating,” James said slowly.
A smile spread across Sirius’ face and he leant dramatically against Remus. He threw his one hand against his forehead in mock surprise. “I am shook to my core. How will I ever recover from this brand new information?”
James looked up confused. “You knew?”
“My dearest Prongsie boy, you can’t keep the love off your face when looking at Reggie for shit,” Sirius laughed.

@into-the-jeggyverse / exam / 282 words // @bloodbruise @del-stars
“Baby, can you relax?” James turned on his seat to look at his boyfriend. His hands tense around the wheel.
“Don’t tell me what to do, Potter.” Regulus scolded him. James had a soft spot for Regulus’ stern tone, yet he knew how nervous he could get in new environments.
“If you’re getting all ‘Potter’ on me then we are not going.”
Regulus glanced at him for just a second, his expression a warning.
“So she can hate me before she even meets me? Brilliant, James!” He switched on the music—anything to distract himself from what was happening tonight.
James stayed quiet, watching him, eyes trained on the way Regulus gripped the wheel. He waited until his knuckles stopped turning white.
“She won’t hate you,” James assured him.
“How do you know that?”
“She’s never hated any of my exes.”
Regulus rolled his eyes. “Well, that just makes me more nervous.”
James softened, shifting to the voice he reserved for moments like this—when Regulus was stuck in his own head. “She will love you.”
Regulus let out a breath and dropped his right hand to James’ thigh. “Promise?”
Gently, James lifted his hand, pressed a kiss to Regulus' palm, then intertwined their fingers. “Promise, love.”
When they were two minutes away, Regulus started mumbling under his breath, too quiet for James to catch.
“What’s going on, baby?”
“Nothing.”
“This isn’t an exam, love.”
They pulled into the driveway, and Regulus rang the doorbell. Within seconds, Effie Potter opened the door, beaming.
“Welcome!” She threw her arms around both her son and his boyfriend.
“Un gusto conocerla,” Regulus said shyly.
Effie’s eyes widened as she turned to James. “Oh, I love him already!”

"Hold" - Jegulus microfic @into-the-jeggyverse - 315 words
-
“James, seriously, I’m awful with kids, I can’t-” Regulus tried, but James just chuckled and handed him the baby.
“Just hold him, Reg,” James said calmly, holding back a grin. “I’ll be back in a bit.”
Regulus held Harry far from his chest, as though he was a bomb. James laughed, kissing Regulus’s cheek and heading to the shop, leaving Regulus alone with Harry.
“Um, hi,” Regulus said to Harry. “I’m Regulus.”
Baby Harry just looked at him with curious eyes, cooing softly. Regulus slowly brought him closer, until his arms were wrapped around the baby and holding him to his chest.
“Er, do you like, uh... What do I have in common with a baby?” Regulus muttered, rolling his eyes at his boyfriend, though he couldn’t see him.
“Oh! You read to babies. What do babies read?”
Regulus looked around frantically for anything baby-appropriate. He, of course, didn’t have any children’s books in his flat. He picked up the first thing he could see, The Picture of Dorian Gray, which he was rereading.
By the time James got back with food and drinks, Regulus was reading to Harry, occasionally interrupting himself to explain his annotations from his first read, or his thoughts on a particular element of the story, as though Harry were capable of understanding him in the first place.
James came up behind the armchair, giving each a kiss on the head.
“You know, you talk to him like he’s an adult,” James observed.
Regulus just shrugged, not taking James up on his offer to take Harry away. He supposed children weren't all that bad. This one, especially, who looked so adorably like James, without the excessive talking. Well, he was alright.
Regulus never did get the ‘baby voice’ thing down, though, and continued to talk to Harry as though he could comprehend any of Regulus’s rants until the day he actually could.

Regulus Black was never emotional.
Not when his mother deemed him too old for stuffed toys.
Not when Sirius left him in that hell-hole of a house.
Not when Andromeda's name was blasted from the tree for marrying tonks.
Not when his mother put him under the cruciatus curse for not being pristine enough.
He thought he had forgotten how to cry.
That lasted until James Potter stood in front of him with a completely annotated version of "The Picture of Dorian Gray", all because he had mentioned once how romantic it would be if someone annotated a book he liked for him to read and know their thoughts- That was an year ago when they first started going out together. James had remembered and had done it for him.
Regulus cried then, in the comforting arms of his boyfriend, thankful that for once he didn't have to be strong and would be loved for who he was.

regulus waking up and snuggling up to james’ back thinking he is still asleep but as soon as he makes contact, he feels a full body shudder go through his husband.
“james? what’s wrong? are you…are you crying?”
regulus’ heart breaks when there’s only a sob in response.
“baby? tell me what’s wrong. what happened, jamie?” regulus sits up, leaning over james’ body and inspecting his tear stained face for any hint of what caused him to wake up like this.
james shakes his head, smiling sheepishly through the wetness on his face. “i’m okay.”
regulus frowns, feeling helpless. “don’t lie to me. you’re obviously not okay.”
“no, really, i’m fine. i promise. “ james turns so they’re facing each other, reaching up to place both hands on regulus’ cheeks, releasing a sigh filled with contentment.
“but why are you crying?”
at this, james giggles bashfully. “it’s just that we have such a beautiful life, regulus. no one understands me like you do. no one loves me like you do and no one ever could love me like you. we’ve invested so much effort into making this house perfect for us.“
“our wedding was a dream come true. not to mention, we’re raising the coolest and smartest people i’ve ever met in my life. i never get sick of it honestly,” james tells regulus, sighing again and moving into his personal space in order to rest his head on regulus’ thigh.
regulus’ chest feels warm at the honest love in james’ voice. he slips his fingers into his husband’s hair, softly detangling the knots from sleeping. “i don’t understand. that makes you sad?”
james closes his eye as he says, “i’m just so happy. so grateful to have met you.”
regulus feels nauseated with the amount of affection that wells up inside of him at james’ candid words. he’s not even trying to smooth talk regulus, he truly feels this way.
shit. now, regulus wants to cry.
“i’m really happy too,” he whispers, still petting james’ curls.
“you are?” james asks, not disbelieving but wanting confirmation all the same.
regulus smiles even though james cannot see. “very happy.”
“good,” james hums. “thank you.”
“for what?”
“for respecting me and trusting me. for caring for me and making me a better person.”
james sighs a third time as regulus digs his fingers into his scalp the way he likes. “for loving me.”
“it has, and will continue to be,” regulus says, mirroring james’ conviction, “and honor to love and be loved by you, james potter.”

jegulus microfic <3 this isn't for a prompt or anything i just think it sounds funny. word count: 108
The front door opens and James runs into the house, not even bothering to take off his shoes. He finds Regulus in the kitchen and spins the other man around to face him, pulling him into a firm hug.
"Jamie?" Regulus asks, audibly confused voice muffled by James's neck. "James? Is everything alright?"
James shakes his head, but he doesn't say anything, continuing to hold Regulus close.
"Where's Harry?" Regulus asks, trying to worm away from his husband for a moment. As if on cue the front door opens again, and Harry steps inside.
"C'mon, Dad," Harry says when he sees James. "I'm not that bad a driver."

Buying gifts - @noblehouseofgay - Word Count - 167 - 25 days of Jegumas
Tumblr media
Regulus had never been bad at buying gifts. He always seemed to know just what everyone wanted. However its the first time he's had a boyfriend for Christmas and he suddenly feels like the worst gift giver ever.
Sure he found things he would like but Regulus wanted to get him something he loved. He wanted to make sure his gift could measure the amount of love he had for James. Which made it impossible.
"None of this is right" Regulus groans as him and Sirius leave yet another store.
"Come on Reg we can find something.. he's so easy to shop for" Sirius laughs, trying to lighten up the boys mood.
"James deserve the best gift ever and nobody seems to sell exquisite things anymore" He deadpans.
"Quite the dramatic one you are" Sirius jokes slinging his arm around the taller boy and guiding him into another store. "We'll find something"
"Well what did you get Remus" He questions.
"Oh you know jewelry" He said vaguely.

Coffee
"Bottle" - Jegulus Microfic - @into-the-jeggyverse - 407 words
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Reggie, I'm grabbing a Dr. Pepper, do you want a bottle?"
Regulus didn't look up from his book. "No, James is bringing me a drink."
"What?" Remus gave him an uncertain look. "How do you know? Your phone's been dead all day."
"It's 4:15," Regulus pointed out. "James got off at 4. He'll come here after work, but he'll stop at the coffee shop on the way and get us both coffees. Yours, too, and SIrius's if he knows he's here."
"He knows," Sirius spoke up. "'Cause I text him earlier. But no one's mentioned coffee."
Regulus knew what he was talking about. "No one had to mention it."
"Are you sure I shouldn't just call him?" Remus asked. "Just to - look, I know James is great, but he isn't psychic, Reg."
"Wait ten minutes," Regulus told him. "You'll see."
Remus exchanged a glance with Sirius that Regulus ignored. "I'm seeing unrealistic expectations, but okay. Have it your way."
Nine minutes later, the door opened. Regulus smiled.
"Hey, I brought caffeine!" James announced, walking into the bookshop. He kissed the top of Regulus's head before handing him his cup. "How's your day been?"
"Slow," Regulus replied, smirking at Remus. "Which was nice. I finished that book I showed you yesterday."
Remus took his drink with a faintly confused look. "Thanks. Did you - did Regulus text you earlier?"
"No," James replied, handing Sirius's over. "I kind of thought his phone might have died, actually. I tried to text you," he directed that last one to Regulus, who winced.
"Yeah, I forgot to charge it. Sorry," he apologized.
"It's alright." James smiled at him, settling on the arm of his chair. "What are you reading now?"
Regulus turned the book so James could see the cover. "Remus didn't think you loved me enough to get me coffee."
James frowned, looking at his friend. "What?"
"Not what I said," Remus defended himself. "I just wasn't sure you would know that Reg wanted coffee when he hadn't actually told you. That's all."
"He was very sure of it, though," Sirius chimed in. "Did you plan it this morning?"
"Oh." James shrugged. "Not really. But I told him that I got off at four today, and he's here 'til six, so it was pretty obvious."
Regulus smiled, leaning against James. "I love you."
"I love you, too." James grinned at him. "So much."
"I know," Regulus replied, and it was true.

exam - Jegulus microfic - @into-the-jeggyverse - word count: 334
“Mister Potter,” Slughorn said gravely, sitting at his desk and staring at James with a very concerned expression, “I need you to be very honest with me.”
James resisted the urge to grin as he replied, “Of course, Professor. I’m always honest with you.”
The older man rolled his eyes. “Potter. Did you cheat on this exam?” He brandished a roll of parchment at him– their latest NEWT-level test.
James gaped. “No!” he said truthfully. “I didn’t! Why, did I–?”
“You got a ninety-nine percent,” Slughorn cut him off, still looking very suspicious. “Mister Potter, you’re very intelligent, please do not misunderstand. But you scored the same as Miss Evans and Mister Snape. I think you can see why I’m a bit confused.”
He blinked, thinking about all of the times he’d sat with Regulus in the library, staring off into the distance as the younger boy read huge Potions books under his breath. James just loved listening to Regulus speak, but perhaps there had been some practical advantage to all of that… “Right. Er, yeah, I…found a study partner,” he said awkwardly.
Slughorn tilted his head. “Well, you’ve never cheated before. But just to be sure, will you consent to taking the next test with an anti-cheating quill?”
“Sure!” James nodded. “Can I go now?” He wanted to see Regulus.
Squinting his eyes, the Professor dismissed him.
“Reg!” James said a few minutes later, slightly out of breath, finding his boyfriend in the library. “You’ll never guess what Slughorn accused me of!”
“Stealing from his personal stores again?” the younger boy drawled, not bothering to look up. “You need to be a bit more careful, James, you and your friends are ridiculously obviou-”
“He thought I was cheating on my test because I got a ninety-nine percent,” James burst out, beaming. “Because I like to listen to you read.”
At this, Regulus looked up. After a moment of stunned silence, he burst out laughing. “Oh, I can’t wait to tell Sirius,” he chuckled.

have - jegulus - @stag-microfic - word count: 216  - 16 September
James and Sirius’ favourite pastime was to sit on the steps outside the library and pass judgement on those going in to study. Their university was massive so the pool of randos was always plentiful.
“Sick as fuck bag”
“Frosted tips do not work on him.”
“She needs to ditch the scrunchie, that was so 2016”
Oftentimes it just resulted in a big game of smash or pass. Or rather it was a game for James where Sirius just offered his opinion. Sirius was hopelessly in love with his boyfriend, Remus. They had moved in together recently after problems with Sirius’ family. James doesn’t know the full story. Sirius hardly talks about his family.
“She’s lovely, look at her hair. It’s like a fire.”
“That’s Evans, she’s in my Physics class. Too bad she likes women.”
“Ugh, all the good ones do.”
“Hmmm he’s cute,” James tried again.
“Too many facial piercings for me. Are those snake bites?”
“Hot. Wait no. I’ve found the love of my life. That devastatingly gorgeous, grey-eyed god just behind him.”
“What the fuck Prongs?” Sirius exclaimed, his expression incredulous.
James, startled by this sudden outburst, tore his eyes away from the man in the dark green crop top as he entered the library doors. “What?”
“That’s my little brother!”
“You have a brother?”

@into-the-jeggyverse / crazy / 478 words
“Am I crazy?” Regulus said as he paced around Sirius’ study. He arrived unannounced, not more than twenty minutes ago.
“What?” Sirius replied, for what felt like the sixth time.
“Come on, be honest—” Regulus collapsed into the armchair next to him, his head in his hands, “—am I insane?”
“I’m lost.”
“For thinking we can make it work,” Regulus breathed, still in panic.
“I’m still very confused,” Sirius mumbled, though he doubted his brother even heard him.
Regulus took a deep, shaky breath and finally met Sirius’ gaze. “Do you think it can really work?”
“Reg, it’s been working for what—five? Six years?” Sirius set his glass of whiskey down, his voice softening. “Why wouldn’t it work now?”
“Because love isn’t everything,” Regulus muttered, his face dropping back into his hands.
“What exactly are you asking me?” Sirius leaned back in his chair.
“Just… I don’t know, you always say love isn’t everything.” He buried his face between his hands.
“True.” Sirius paused. Regulus wasn’t an open book—one of the many things they had in common—but God, how Sirius wished he could crack him open and read. He’d gladly reread the same sentence over and over if it meant understanding what Regulus needed right now.
All he could do was try.
“Yes, love isn’t everything,” Sirius began cautiously. “But I think it makes you kinder—”
Regulus sighed loudly, shooting him an annoyed look. A rich reaction, coming from the man who’d barged in ranting nonsense.
“Will you let me finish?”
Regulus huffed but nodded.
“It makes you kinder,” Sirius repeated. “It helps you look past all the dumb shit, the meaningless distractions, and actually focus on what matters.”
Regulus was finally listening. “Which is?”
“Each other.”
“Right.” Regulus sounded earnest, but Sirius could see his mind was still miles away, lost somewhere Sirius couldn’t touch.
“What’s this really abo—” Sirius started, but the words died on his tongue as Regulus shifted in his seat and pulled something from his pocket.
Sirius froze.
Regulus held up a small box, wrapped in soft crimson velvet. He didn’t open it. He didn’t need to.
“So,” Regulus asked again, his voice quieter now, steadier, “am I crazy?”
“Wait, am I...?” Sirius murmured, barely able to get the words out. He didn’t need to explain further. Regulus already knew what he was asking.
“Yeah,” Regulus said with a small, nervous laugh. “You’re the first to know.”
Sirius reached out, his fingers brushing against the box but not taking it. They’d never been good at this—touching, feeling at ease in each other’s presence. But in that moment, with their hands barely grazing, it felt... easy.
Finally, Sirius broke the silence.
“He’s going to love it.”
A muffled sob escaped Regulus’ lips. For once, he was the one who couldn’t find the words.
“Do you think he’ll take my last name?”
“Now that's insane.”
