The rustling of the bed sheets and the dip in the mattress woke Aether up with a start. His first through is that it was Dew, probably coming back to bed from using the toilet, but he could still feel the small ghoul curled up against his side. It was the ghouls first night back since tour started, and while Aether had been excited to be reunited with everyone, Dew has snatched him up the minute they got back and hadn’t let him leave the room. 

He blinks into the darkness, trying to clear the sleep fog from his eyes. There’s a weight on his chest, followed by a whine, and something warm and wet on his chin. 

He laughs quietly, immediately knowing who it is.

“Hey, Mount.”

Mountain let’s out a happy thrill, pressing little licks to Aethers cheek. Aether flicks the lamp on his bedside table on, illuminating the room in soft glow. Mountain sits up from where his head was resting on his chest and Aether can see the dark green collar sitting proudly around Mountain’s neck. 

“Oh hi, puppy.” 

Mountain thrills again, lunging towards Aether, licking all over his face. Aether can’t help but laugh, screwing his eyes shut and  burying his hand into Mountain’s hair, scratching at his scalp. 

“Easy, easy, puppy. You don’t want to wake Dew up, do you?” 

Mountain still immediately and rests his head back on Aethers chest with a small huff. Aether laughs at him again, hands still scratching at his head. 

“Did you miss me while you were on tour, puppy?” Mountain whines, tilting his head to the side. Aether pouts at him “Yeah, I missed you too.” 

Mountain looks up at him with big puppy eyes. He nudges Aethers cheek with his nose, giving him a few gentle licks to his cheek. 

“Oh, thanks for the kisses, puppy.” 

Mountain’s tail thuds agains the bed, and he gives Aethers cheek two last kisses before settling down on his chest again. Aether scratches behind his ear, making Mountain lean into the touch with a deep rumbling purr. 

“That feel nice, puppy?” Aether asks, still scratching. 

Mountain chirps, sinking deeper into Aether embrace, his eyes fluttering closed. 

“You wanna sleep here tonight?” 

Mountain chirps again, the volume of his purrs increasing. He curls himself up even tighter into Aethers side with a contented sigh. Aether runs one hand down down Mountain’s back, essentially stroking him, and feels him relax even more into his touch. It doesn’t take long for both of them to drift off into a peaceful sleep. 

The next morning Dew wakes up confused as to why he’s alone. He’s even more confused when he finds a carrot plush where Aether should have been sleeping.

Things to do when your bored (little edition)

Hi guys it’s sprig here I have a jar that I use when I bored (it’s mainly used when I’m not regressed). Today Arkie asked me to look through the jar and find things that littles could do. Then they asked me to share it with you guys so here it is.

Watch funny YouTube videos (with your CG or your stuffies)

Play a board game with your CG or little friends (My favourite is pictureka)

Have a bubble bath (with bath toys if you have any)

Make paper boats, paper aeroplanes, paper chains or paper snowflakes

Play some age appropriate video games (I like animal crossing and slime rancher)

A Regressors Age Guide

1 Year edition! (Baby baby)

Traits and Behaviors

These teeny babies are often dependent on their cgs as they may struggle with getting things done on their own.

-They may crawl and roll instead of walking

-They may be non or semi-verbal

-Often very sensitive to tone

-At this stage, these babies may prefer to cuddle up to their cg and have a nice nap

-They may enjoy reaction games like peek-a-boo instead of bigger kid activities like climbing trees and playing video games

-These little ones may enjoy being coo'd at and sung to as it can be hard for them to contribute much to a verbal conversation

-They may cry to communicate instead of using words

-These babies may find it hard to see what's wrong with them (They may be hungry, thirsty, tired, they may need a diapy change)

-These tiny babies may need diapies or reminded to go use the potty

-They may need help doing most tasks, feeding themselves, picking out clothes, showers or baths, most things biological babies would need help with, these tinies will need help with

Paying Attention to Your Baby's Non-verbal Ques

You need to make sure that when your baby is regressed to such a dependent age like this that you're paying attention to their non-verbal ques. If their body language indicates that they're uncomfortable then take that as a sign.

Take notice of your baby's schedule, that may be easier to tell what they need. If it's their lunch time and they're expressing discomfort, they may be hungry. If it's close to bedtime and they're a bit fussy, maybe it's time to get them ready for bed.

Another thing to take notice of is their body language, if they're rubbing their eyes then they may be tired and need a nap, if their tummy is growling, they may need to use the potty or they may be hungry.

If in doubt, asking your baby yes or no questions could help a lot and all they need to do is nod or shake their head.

Diapies

Some babies in this age range may wear dipies! It's So important that you as their caregiver know how to diaper safely (if you do their diapy Changes)

Always communicate with your tiny! Tell them what you're doing and ask if they're okay with it

Ex: "You need a diapy change, sweet baby, do you want me to change you or do you want to do it yourself?"

"You need a diapy change, little one, is it okay if I change your diapy?"

And make sure your tiny is comfortable during their diapy change, make sure they have their favorite paci and stuffie and make sure to have a blankie on hang in case they get uncomfortable or cold!

Make sure you're changing frequently if they're using their diapies and make sure you're using baby powders and barrier creams to stay safe

Here is an extremely helpful video on how to diaper an adult using a variety of different diapers, how to keep them comfortable and hope to dispose of used diapies as well as a bunch of other helpful information!

Please note that this video is filmed by a creator who uses "abdl" and other terms that often refer to the nsfw community in their title. This video does not have anything nsfw in it, and is extremely helpful to learn how to diaper someone(or yourself) comfortably but still watch at your own discretion.

Activities and Fun Things to do With Your Baby

So you may be finding it harder to find some fun activities to do with a baby so young but I'm here to help!

Sensory play is always great fun to a baby this age, babies are super curious and always looking for something to keep their attention so playing with toys together like rattles, fluffy toys, toys that make noise can be great stimulation for your baby's mind and it can also help them maintain their regressed state better. Playing games together like match making games is always good. Reaction games are also great for Regressors this age as well like peek-a-boo and patty cake

Bath time is always great fun and binding time for any regression age, having these little ones splash and play in some shallow bath water is so fun, make sure to put some bubbles in the bath for your baby to enjoy

A great way to get in some quality time is watching a movie together too! Bright colors and the voices from the characters from a movie of your choosing is a great way to keep your little one entertained.

Food

Usually baby regressors want soft foods! So foods like mashed potatoes, oatmeal, grits and yogurt, soft foods like that can be great for baby regressors cause they don't have to chew or think super hard about what they want to eat. Another thing you can do is blend up some of your favorite fruits and add some yogurt into the mixture to make sure your blend is nice and smooth. Bananas and steamed vegetables are also great because they can be soft and easy for your little one to eat!

Shows Movies and More!

Some great shows are shows aimed towards a younger crowd

You can find some great shows for younger kids on sites like Nick Jr, Disney Jr, and pbs kids!

Personally, I like shows like Octonauts, Gabby's doll house, baby einstein and Thomas the tank engine

Some movies I like to watch are actually Disney movies when I regress to an age so so tiny! I like Winnie the pooh, I like toy story and Cars but I also have been trying to lean away from Disney recently due to their political stances and I've found some great movies on Netflix Instead!

Know Your Baby!

Know your baby before they regress around you, ask them what they like to do and like to watch well Before they end up being so itty bitty with you! I know it's tough to have the awkward conversations but it's so important to know how your baby expresses themself Before you're in a situation where you don't know what to do. Each and every regressor has a different experience regressing so I may love something while someone else may not.

The community is also very LGBTQ+ friendly (by the artists, and even some of the voice actors) such as MK having "he/they" pronouns — the main voice actor acknowledging (and very welcoming) a popular MLM ship of the character they VA.

. About . "Following the adventures of Craig Williams and his two friends, Kelsey Pokoly and John Paul `JP' Mercer, as they explore the untamed wilderness of the Creek, which is dominated by tribes of children." -Via google

. Why I personally recommend it . The show just sits right with me. All of our littles (and even caregivers) enjoy this show. Never bored of the show's episodes and it keeps me entertained everytime I watch it. Once again, a very friendly community. The show isn't afraid to show off that some of their characters are LGBTQ+ (mostly consistent of non-binary characters and Gay characters)

Tummy Time

It wasn’t often that Angel regressed to his baby headspace, for he preferred to stay in the older range. Today was a bit different. You see, Angel had a difficult week at work due to Valentino, and he’d regressed particularly young because of it. Husk didn’t mind, though. He always loved taking care of his Angel.

At the moment, said spider was laying on his tummy on the floor. He cooed softly behind his pacifier as he played with a set of dangly plastic keys. Due to Angel’s young headspace, Husk was having him do tummy time.

“You havin’ fun, kiddo?” Husk asked as he patted Angel’s floofy hair.

Angel cooed some more as he reached up to his caregiver.

Husk bent down to kiss his forehead. He pushed some more of Angel’s toys closer to him and sat beside him. The spider reached for an ocean-themed pop-up toy and interacted with it, pushing the buttons and causing the ocean creatures to pop up.

“You like that toy, hmm?” Husk asked.

Angel giggled as he kept playing with the toy of his choice.

Husk smiled. “I’ll take that a yes.”

He watched as Fat Nuggets trotted over and curled up next to Angel. The spider babbled as he petted the pig. Fat Nuggets tucked himself under Angel’s chin and oinked softly.

Husk spotted Angel’s Peek-A-Boo Magenta stuffie. It was one of the spider’s most beloved toys in the world! Magenta was one of his favorite characters from Blue’s Clues, and he loved any shade of pink.

Husk then got an idea.

“Hey, baby, look at Magenta! She wants to play a game with you!” the cat cooed as he took the toy and squeezed its tummy, making her little ears pop up.

Angel squealed joyfully as Magenta played peek-a-boo with him.

Husk did it again.

Angel squealed again, giggling and reaching for the stuffie Husk was holding. He passed it over to the eager baby. The spider struggled to squeeze Magenta’s tummy, causing him to whimper with frustration.

“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” Husk soothed. “Here, let papa show you.”

The cat took the toy back and showed Angel how to squeeze her tummy, then her ears flew up.

Angel cheered up and started giggling once more. Husk handed it back to him and ruffled his hair. Suddenly, Angel dropped his pacifier from his mouth and began to chew on Magenta’s ear.

Husk soon put two and two together and realized the baby was teething.

“Here, let’s get you an alternative,” Husk said as he grabbed a pink, starfish-shaped teether from a teether basket. He gently removed Magenta’s ear from the spider’s mouth and replaced it with the teether. “Toys like Magenta aren’t for chewing, okay? They could break, or you could accidentally tear them up.”

Angel grew sad, worried that his papa was angry with him.

“Hey, I’m not mad, honey…” the cat quickly soothed as he gave Angel’s forehead a kiss. “It’s okay. Please don’t cry.”

Fat Nuggets grunted and snuggled underneath the spider's chin.

Husk noticed Angel's Rainbow Puppy stuffie laying next to some of his toys and picked it up.

The cat began singing Itsy Bitsy Spider as he moved the dog stuffie’s arms, pretending that it was doing the hand movements to said song.

“The Itsy, Bitsy spider climbed up the water spout…” Husk softly sang. “Down came the rain, and washed the spider out.”

Angel looked up at Husk and Rainbow Puppy and started cooing. The cat then booped Angel's nose with the stuffie, causing the spider to cheer up and giggle.

“You wanna hold Rainbow Puppy, bubba?” Husk asked once the song was finished.

Angel responded by petting Rainbow Puppy and babbling around his teether. Husk handed the toy to his baby and patted his head. He looked down at his phone and saw that Angel's tummy time was over.

“Alright. Playtime’s over, now it’s rest time,” Husk cooed as he scooped the baby up from his mat. “Let’s go get you a bottle.”

Angel rested his head on Husk’s shoulder, hugging him as the cat purred. Husk carried him to the kitchen and began to prepare a bottle, softly humming to the baby as he popped it into the warmer.

“Think you’re ready for night-night? We've gotta let the num-nums you've had for lunch do its magic," Husk crooned at he tickled Angel's tummy.

Angel giggled under his papa’s touch and squirmed, popping a thumb in his mouth as he yawned. Husk replaced the digit in Angel’s mouth with a clean pacifier that was sitting in the dish drainer.

The spider suckled on the soother as the bottle heater beeped. Husk removed the bottle from the warmer before checking it on his wrist — it was at a perfect temperature. He walked upstairs while bouncing Angel gently. The baby watched as Fat Nuggets followed them to the nursery. They reached the room and Husk sat in the rocking chair to feed Angel.

“You ready for your milk, kiddo?” Husk asked as he replaced his pacifier with the bottle.

Angel snuggled in his caregiver's embrace as he was fed.

“There we go. Just drink up, baby.” Husk kissed Angel’s forehead and began to rock back and forth. Fat Nuggets rested by the cat’s feet.

The spider yawned as he rubbed his eyes.

Husk set the bottle to the side and sat Angel up on his shoulder, patting his back gently to get any burps out. Angel let out a couple of small burps, and nuzzled his head on Husk’s shoulder.

“Good baby,” Husk cooed. “You ready to go to sleep now?”

Angel’s eyes widened when Husk said “good baby”. It reminded him of work and how Valentino would always say “good boy” whenever he obeyed him. The spider tightened his hug around Husk as tears began to form.

Husk frowned as he patted Angel’s back. “What’s wrong?”

Angel shook his head as he tried his hardest not to cry. Husk soon realized what he’d just said and immediately felt guilty.

“I’m sorry, Angel. I didn’t mean to upset you.” Husk soothed as he continued to rock the little spider. “No one’s here to hurt you, baby. Papa and Nunu are here. We love you.”

Angel sniffled as he continues hugging Husk, afraid that he’s going to let him go.

“It’s okay, baby. You’re okay.”

A few minutes passed by, and Angel slowly calmed down. His tears dried up, and he yawned. Husk placed the pacifier from before his feeding back into his mouth and kissed his knuckles. The cat began to slowly stand up from the rocking chair and headed over to the bedside crib that was next to Husk’s bed. He began to gently lay the baby down when the latter began to whine.

”I’m not going anywhere, baby. You just need to get some rest. It’s naptime,” Husk reassured softly as he gave the spider gentle head pats. Angel yawned as he leaned into Husk’s hand. He closed his eyes, his breathing becoming slower.

Fat Nuggets let out a soft oink as he walked over to the cat and snuffled at his leg. Husk blinked a few times and glanced down. “Oh, sorry. I nearly forgot you, Fat Nuggets.”

Husk bent down and picked the pig up before placing him in the crib with Angel.

“Keep an eye on him, okay?” Husk said as he tucked Fat Nuggets in with Angel. The pig rested next to the spider, snuggling underneath his chin. Husk gave them both a kiss and turned on the bedside crib toy, causing soft music to play. He then walked over to his bookshelf and grabbed himself a book to read.

Husk then returned to the rocking chair and began reading, keeping his promise to Angel that he wasn’t leaving him.

An average day in my life

I want to make a post about an average day in my life, with higher support needs nonverbal autism (with continued late regression), severe ME/CFS, low mobility, hypotonia, and other health things. I need a lot of help with most things, and due to my conditions my everyday life probably looks quite different than many people's.

I tried to write this several times. I started with AAC, but I couldn’t see what I just wrote, so I got lost and jumped about too much. This time I made myself some questions to answer, so I can still use AAC to help with the words, but not get so mixed up. Some of this is written with AAC, some is typed.

Where do I spend most of my time? How do I spend most of my time?

I spend the large majority of my time in my bedroom, and the most of that time is spent in bed.

In bed, the things I do is: watch DVDs or other things on laptop, edit AAC, practice/write with AAC, play games on phone, listen to music.

When I am not in bed, I am listening to loud music in my swing! Best way of regulation for me, keeps me calm.

What does my bedroom look like, how do I have things set up?

I sit up in bed with a big wedge pillow and two normal pillows behind me. I usually have my laptop, iPad, AAC device, DVDs and DVD player, and fidget toys (dummy, chewy, tangle) on the bed with me. I also have an overbed table which always has my glasses and case and juice bottle on it. I change around what is on the table depending on what I am doing at that time.

My LED lights in bedroom is usually on orange or yellow colour, with lights fairly dim. The curtains and blackout blind is always closed.

I have a fan and book light always next to my bed. I have a weighted blanket as my duvet, with five other varying types of blankets on top of it.

What are the other activities I do?

I have some other activities I occasionally do with help and prompts. Sometimes I go downstairs (with stairlift) to watch TV and/or do walking (physiotherapy, walking back and forth with or without AFO braces). I also do walking upstairs, because getting downstairs is a real challenge.

I rarely remember that I have options other than the things I see in front of me, so my parents have to give me choices.

Occasionally Mum ask me if I want to play cards, or do something else not normally do. It depends on how I feel and how loud my brain is, but sometimes I say yes.

What are the few things I can do independently on a daily basis?

I can put shoes and socks on, and take off, by myself! Only with same pair of stretchy shoes, just pull on. I do this several times a day because I wear shoes in swing, but not in bed. So it is a strong motor path.

I can change my hoodie/take it on and off by myself.

I can go between my bed and swing by myself, no prompt. I can walk to go to the toilet and change nappy (diaper) by myself.

I can brush my teeth as long as my toothbrush and toothpaste is brought to me. Sometimes I also need a reminder, or I forget. I am more likely to forget in the evening. I remember better in the morning because I don’t like the taste of my own mouth.

I can drink from my juice bottle and feed myself.

I can put DVDs in and out of DVD player and plug it into laptop. I can choose what I want to watch on a few streaming services. I can navigate a few social media apps, and can even post/message on a couple.

I can use the two different remotes to control my LED lights and sensory light projector.

What is my main struggles and difficulties in an average day?

I can't do much without prompts so these two things (bed and swing) is basically all I can do on my own (I can also go to the toilet without a prompt most of the time, but sometimes I get stuck). I struggle to initiate tasks and transition between tasks. I also can only make my body go on strong motor paths (movement sequences that I do over and over that is strong in my muscle memory), and there is only space in my brain capacity for a small amount of these motor paths at a time. Learning a new motor path and making it strong can make me lose a previous motor path (usually whichever is weakest at that time). This is very limiting.

Even with the pillows I have, it is not enough support. My body is too weak and floppy. My posture is bad and I slide/slump down so I am closer to a lying down position than sitting. I am always in a lot of pain, so I shift around a lot trying to get comfy, but it is never quite right. This is even more for when I sit in swing (or anywhere else), there is next-to-none support there.

If I could, I would be in my swing all the time! But unfortunately I have very low energy due to ME/CFS so a lot of rest is necessary. I find this hard because I need to stim and regulate constantly.

It is necessary that I spend much time alone in my room. If I didn’t, the smallest things would send me into immediate shutdown or meltdown. I can’t be around people much at all, even voices noises is too much. Usually I am only around people for the time when they help me with something, or bring me something.

When I do be around people, even with AAC it is very very difficult for me to communicate - I can do a handful of simple signs but anything more complex is so hard to get out that it usually has to happen when I am on my own in my room (like when I write a post like this). I am sad that I can’t have important or deep conversations with a person in the same room. Most of the important things I communicate to Mum is through Tumblr or WhatsApp.

I am oversensitive to so many things because of sensory issues. I am always dysregulated and I spend so much time trying to keep myself calm with swinging, with out making my health worse.

Often I am much too tired and sore to go downstairs so I am stuck in my bedroom most of the time.

I don't feel many body signals, like my bladder. When I don’t feel the signals at all (or not until too late), combined with getting stuck and not able to initiate go to toilet fast enough, I have accidents. This used to be something I could just about keep on top of, but with regression I no longer can manage it, so I have to wear nappies (diapers). This also adds another task (change nappy) that I have to use my limited brain capacity to learn and hold onto.

I am so fatigued and in pain from doing small things, and my body response to fatigue is often a big trigger for many sensory issues. This often becomes a downward spiral of fatigue response -> sensory bad -> big stim to calm down -> stim makes fatigue worse -> more body fatigue response, etc.

What is my morning routine like?

The first thing that happens in the morning (approximately 9am) is Mum or Dad comes to my bedroom with breakfast and medication. They help prop me up in bed with a big wedge pillow, and two normal pillow behind me. They give me my headphones (I wear almost all day, every day) and help put all my things around me on the bed. They also give me my toothbrush and toothpaste. In the mornings I can’t communicate much at all (only occasionally a few signs), can’t look at another person or do anything that would overwhelm me even a wee bit. It would cause immediate shutdown or meltdown. Shutdown is more likely for the morning time.

What is my mealtime routine like?

Mum or Dad (or very occasionally sister) brings me my food, and if it is a messy food then I put a tea towel over my chest so I don’t get covered in food. I eat while watching something usually, because I need the distraction to not get so stuck. Every time I get new meal or snack brought upstairs to me, I get a fresh bottle of juice also. The bottle is approximately 450ml, and I have 3 meals plus 2 snacks each day. I also get a bottle of water (not juice) brought up with evening meds, so I don’t get sugar on my teeth after I brush them.

I eat the same snacks at the same times every day. I have the same exact breakfast every day, and it has barely changed since I was quite young. I have two lunches, it is the same except for sandwich filling - I eat one for weekdays, one for weekends. Dinner varies, but there is still a predictable amount of choices, and often I eat the same dinner for the same day of the week. Mum sometimes tells me what is for dinner, if it will be different than the usual dinner for that day of the week, or if I ask. But I usually forget by dinner time anyway! 🤷🏻‍♂️

What is my bath time routine like?

With bath, Mum always helps. I need a lot of prompts. I get confused and lost with all the steps. But I have gotten better with practice, and each step have a stronger motor path now. I need Mum to tell me what part comes next.

I use a bath lift to get in and out of the bath.

I can do the physical washing part mostly on my own, sometimes I ask for help with my back. Mum gives verbal prompts and puts the right soap/shampoo in my hand or on washcloth.

Sometimes even with prompts, my brain confuses the steps or the motor paths, and my body does the wrong thing. This happens more recently, because when there is a complex sequence of separate (at least it is stored separately in my brain) motor paths, I can go into “loops” of do same thing over and over. Or my wires get crossed and I simply do the wrong movements.

I can also mostly dry myself (I sit on toilet seat to do it), but Mum always does my back. I can’t dress myself, so once I put on nappy by myself, Mum puts my top on. Then I walk to bedroom and Mum puts my trousers on while I sit on the edge of my bed (it is a better height that sitting on the toilet seat). Then Mum opens deodorant and clicks it up, I put it on myself.

What is my evening/bedtime routine like?

I have poor sleep, usually, and a really weird sleep schedule! My parents go to bed at approximately 10pm (sometimes Mum a bit earlier), and Dad always comes in to tell me goodnight. But I am awake much much after that (usually between 1-3am is when I finally go to bed for sleep). Sometimes I still swing when my parents is in bed, but I try not to swing too late because it can click and make noises.

I stay up and watch things, or play games on phone and listen to music. I often get stuck and cannot transition to go to bed, so I force myself awake for long after I could probably already go to bed.

When I finally manage to force myself to do the bedtime routine (or when my body is so tired it force me), I have to move all the things off the bed (some go on overbed table, some go to charge on the other side of the room). I also then change hoodie from day hoodie to sleep hoodie. I also move big wedge cushion and extra pillow down onto the floor. And put special cushion under my sleep pillow so it is at the perfect angle. Then, finally, I can lie down.

Sometimes I still go on my phone after that, usually to read fanfiction, if I can’t relax enough yet. I also rock back and forth on my side to soothe myself, I have done it since I was very young. I have to put my fan on to sleep, the noise and the feeling on my face is necessary to fall asleep, and it helps keep my temperature okay.

Then, the cycle of morning starts all over again!

A Purple Christmas

Feeling the cool air in her room and soon the light shining on her face, Y/N smiled as she had a long night getting stuff together for her sweethearts while they were at work handling business. The presents one by one still in her room. She wanted to make something practical, that they would wear all the time so she took the time to make bracelets. For each one of them has a special charm. She opened her eyes slow and she yawned some hearing holiday music downstairs. Getting up slow stretching, going to do her usual face routine and putting on slippers peeking out the doorway trying to look downstairs. JD walked by the hallways and smirked seeing her some, motioning her to come down as he was carrying gifts as well. She nodded and went back to grab the bag full of boxes. She walked down carefully and squealed soon getting scooped up by Finn. “Merry Christmas little munchkin!” He growled and play tickled her holding her tight so she doesn’t fall. That got everyone attention and gave a smile to the whole group seeing her smile in the morning. “There’s my little princess!” Rhea squealed some as she loved the holidays the most and had her big gift ready between her legs. Finn put her down in her favorite chair in the living room and kissed her on the forehead one last time before going to his pile ready for her. “Ok so, Dom and Damian are fixing breakfast, and I know you’re hungry but we made a wheel so you can do something before we eat.” JD gave her the wheel kissing her forehead as well before sitting back down. “Is papa making pancakes?” Y/N ask as she examining the wheel. “Your favorite pancakes and fruit bowl. They also made some bacon and eggs.” JD answered as he fixed the three gifts he got Y/N on his side of the L-Couch. “Yummy! But ok I’ll pick now! I wanna exchange my gifts as well!” She smiled happy as she spun the wheel.

The first name was Dominic, “Dom Dom! Come on in here. JD tag in with him.” Rhea instructed and both nodded trading places. Dom smiled and went to Y/N kissing her all over and giving her three small boxes and one giant one. “Open them in any order babydoll.” He watched closely as Y/N started to open them, the first was a pandora bracelet, blank canvas, her last one was broke from a raid that happened to their house earlier in the year and two of her charms were stolen. Dominik protected her while the others handled the men that intruded and held her close in her room calming her down so she wouldn’t have a panic attack. After that he wanted to check but she didn’t want him to leave so he stayed and comforted her the whole time. Y/N shed a tear and he smiled placing it on her wrist for her. She smiled at the small engravement and kissed his nose. “Thank you Dom.” Y/N loved it. The other two were boxes with 3 charms in it each for the bracelet, he slowly restored it back for her and added more. And the big gift was next. “I hope you love it ,it was literally the last one.” He smiled. She opened it smiling seeing it was a giant gengar, a limited edition one that was a pale purple. “You got me a shiny gengar!” She squealed as it was one of Y/Ns Pokemon on her team. She helped Dom get into Pokemon and they always play the newest game the DLCs and battle each other. Y/N held the stuffie close to her and kissed Dom on the cheeks making him blush. Little did he know that Finn already spun the wheel and shoved him to the side excited. “Hey!” He was ready for a fight with Finn and his cheeky smile but Rhea put an end to that giving a look to both. “Stop the rough housing and gift her.” Rhea hissed. She giggled and tossed Dom his gift she made him, “Don’t open it yet ok?” He nodded smiling at the semi wrapped well gift.

Finn proudly took gengar and put him to the side of her and gave her two gifts and one big one. “Sure that was sweet and all pipsqueak but mine is gonna take the cake.” Damien overheard him rolling his eyes and in the process saying in his language “Se va a llevar el pastel solo porque ayudé.” (It’s gonna take the cake only because I helped.) JD smirked some knowing what he said and Finn rolled his eyes. “Why is papa Damien so mean to me?” Finn pouted and it made Y/N pout hugging him. “Ok lass go at it.” She giggled and she started to tear the gifts open. One box contained a beautiful necklace, with Finn’s initials. “Awwww finny…” she smiled and Finn helped her put it on. She opened the next and it was vinyls that she wanted for her collection, limited edition. The last one was an envelope, she looked at it and she teared the top opening it and seeing it was tickets to her favorite artist. She squealed to the top of her lungs and she jumps up and down soon gripping on to Finn hugging him koala style. She’s been wanting to go to the concert for a while but due to how everything is set up she couldn’t go by herself. But Finn took the time to talk to Rhea and she subsided her overprotective ways for her this once, but there was a twist. He had to go with her. “I thought you did like my music teddy bear…” she pouted looking up. He sigh swallowing his pride and shrugged. “Eh I’ll live. It’s only one night and you’ve been wanting to go so bad.” He kissed her and hugged her close. The last gift she opened was another large stuffed animal, the pokemon mudkip. “You said it reminded you of me so why not?” He laughed some. She hugged it close and kissed his cheek giving him his gift. “Don’t open it just yet.” She stopped him before he opened it like a kid on Christmas. He nodded fast and Damien finally finished up breakfast.

After that they started up the wheel again, and Rhea was next. She smiled and she placed her gifts in front of Y/N sitting in front of her watching her rip them open. One small one and one big one. She started with the little one. A necklace, a small locket with her and Rhea in a photo. “Mama I love it.” She smiled and Rhea helped her put it on layering it so it doesn’t overlaps Finn’s. “Now this is very special babygirl, this was passed down in my family. And mama loves you so much that she’s giving it to you. You mean the world to mama, to finny, to Papa and Dom Dom and JJ. You mean everything to us. So I want you to have this ok?”Y/N teared up and Rhea kissed her tears away giggling. “No crying baby. We love you.” Y/N sniffles hugging her again. And the big gift was a giant mimikyu, she was grateful for all the stuffed animals but she’s scared she won’t have any more space in her bed. Next was Damien, he smiled and got his three gifts. “Ok flower, I can’t top tears or squeals I honestly just want that beautiful smile I love seeing.” She nodded and she started to unopen gifts. Damien was always the calm note in Y/Ns time being with them. She would have night terrors and she would need comfort and Damien was always there to calm her and hum to her. One night as they were having a meeting and drinks, and Y/N doesn’t do people well. She walked down the steps to get some water from the kitchen, running into one of the security guards for the other gang that was visiting for a meeting. She was in a big shirt and slippers, saying excuse me to the guard. But he was blocking her way, taunting her some. “You must be the goths pet.” He smirked and looked at her up and down. She was getting uncomfortable, “p-please move…” she said low and the man smirked getting to her level. “I could eat you alive talking to me like that pet.” She was shaking some whimpering and she ran the other way quick upstairs. The man wanted to follow her but was stopped by the last person he wanted to see. “Where are you going?” Damien hissed and looking down at the shorter man, “No where man-“ “I wouldn’t lie. Try again.” The guard was silent and Damien sighed. He walked away and went upstairs slow hearing some crying upstairs.

Damien was growing angry hearing her cry, he hated tears falling from her beautiful face. He knocked on the door and soon hear nothing. “Mamas can I come in?” He heard a broken yes and walked in seeing her hiding under her blanket. “Princess…are you ok?” Damien asked low. He slowly uncovered her from under the blanket and saw that her eyes were puffy, and her knife in her hand. “Baby, why do you have that? Were you protecting yourself?” She nodded fast putting the knife on the other side and getting in his arms crying. Damien was so hurt and that put rage in his heart, someone wanting to touch what’s theirs. He rocked her to calm her down, “I just wanted some water, I’m sorry papa I shouldn’t have left my room…he scared me…” she said in the middle of sobbing. He rocked her more and hummed in her ear holding her close. “No one is ever gonna hurt you angel. Not while we are around.” That was a promise. Y/N opened beautiful gifts from Damien, handwoven jewelry and rings with beautiful gems inside. “I’m scared to even wear these…” she muttered. It was so beautiful that she feels if she wears them they will crumble to dust. “You don’t have to wear them now baby but I’m so glad you love them.” He smiled and kissed her forehead and nose making her giggle. She put on the woven bracelet and smiled at the beautiful colors. While they discussed some in the living room happy that she’s admiring the gifts there’s still one more person. JD. He was honest nervous about giving his gifts. He’s been with the crew for a while but not as long as they stuck together, and they all been sticking together as a family. Sometimes JD feels like he intrudes into a lot even though he works with them. “JJ?” The sweetest voice took him out of his thoughts and he looked up seeing Y/N over him as he was sat down. “You wanna open mine with everyone first?” She asked feeling he was a bit nervous on his first Christmas. He saw the box in her hand and nodded. They all started to open their gifts and they all saw a homemade bracelet. “I know it’s not much I just didn’t wanna let you guys be without this year…” she rubbed her hands together slightly nervous from their expressions. “Babygirl it’s beautiful..” Finn smiled putting it on seeing it was a black and followed by his favorite color. The same patterns with everyone else and special charms that symbolized them. JD saw his charm seeing it was a small angel. “You are one of my protectors no matter how long I’ve known I thank you everyday for loving me, accepting me and being here for me JJ..” he sniffled some letting a tear fall. “Thank you dollface.” He kissed her cheek hugging her. Dominik has an angel and a mood checker charm, symbolizing him watching her and communicating her moods and tempers, when she wants to be little and hide away, he’s her protecter and keep her moods in check so she can survive. Rhea has the angel and a figure of them hugging holding a heart. Symbolism of her being her first love, Rhea was her first everything and will always be her mama. Damien had the extra charm of an angel and a lion, royalty and a proud papa like most lions are. And Finn a charm of an angel and a jokester icon, always making her laugh and playing with her to keep her little and making her happy right to left. JD gave his gifts next, an Apple Watch with a cute band in the next box and new AirPods. “Thank you JJ!” She said excited to set it up and get it working on her phone. Rhea was proud of JD, and so happy that Y/N had a great Christmas.

“So baby who had the best gifts?”Dominik asked while they were all watching some Christmas movies. “I loved all of them silly! I can’t choose.” She smiled as she sat in Damien’s lap playing with his necklace. “It was me.” Finn muttered. Dom rolled his eyes. Rhea threw a small object at Finn giving him a look. “I’m glad you had a wonderful Christmas babygirl.” The warmest smile was still on JDs face looking at the bracelet grateful of his gift. “The best Christmas.” He mumbled kissing the charm.

As someone who has TRIED to write longfic for a while, I find outlining and sticking to it so fucking hard?! Like I never know what I'm doing at all. And I wanted to ask how do you do it??? Like what's your process if you have one or just whatever tips you have, because I feel like the pacing and plot/character evolution in your fics is so good? Idek dude I'm desperate this is so hard 😭😭 but I really wanna do it so. Help please

Honestly this is the first long fic I’ve managed to write, it’s something I’ve struggled with a lot as well. I guess I have a couple tips, but it’s by no means expert advice. It’s also possible some of this is too basic, idk, but I’ll do my best to be helpful.

Outlining and thinking into the future is really important but I’d actually recommend you give yourself a little flexibility to change things as well. I like to have my end point set- that means I know how characters start out and how they change through the course of the fic. After that I basically just have to get from point A to point B by figuring out what events happen to change the characters over the course of the plot.

In Debaser the start point is a closeted, self-denying Billy and a Stu that’s not yet completely sure of his place in Billy’s orbit. At the end we have a Billy who is still closeted but admits his sexuality to himself and has fallen in love with Stu, and we have an equally but more openly in love Stu who is also significantly more confident (if also severely injured).

It helps to have a solid midpoint as well, this is basic plot structure stuff. You need the characters to face a challenge and overcome it, and for Debaser this is Maureen’s death. It’s their first murder but it also marks the beginning of a significant change in their relationship. Before Maureen their behaviour has been almost justifiably kinky to Billy. He can tell himself that he’s only getting off on causing Stu pain, but kissing him crosses a line, and then there’s everything that happens at Christmas and it just continues from there.

As I’m writing this stuff I try to be mindful that I’m creating a sense of escalation- the characters are making progress or regressing, but either of way the stakes are getting higher. Scream lends itself well to that, so I got lucky.

It also helps that I’m sort writing a book slasher, at least later in the fic. It means I can make use of those tropes, so I have something to lean on. I’d recommend figuring out some tropes that you like from the genre you’re working in, and put your own spin on them or find a way to subvert them.

I often work through this kind of planning with more of a visual map, then this eventually gets turned into bullet point summaries of each chapter. When I actually go to write the chapter a lot of the time I realize some of those planned plot points don’t quite work or don’t feel in character, and in those cases I often change those details. If it works better for the story I’m telling then it’s good to go off-script a little. There are usually some major events that I won’t change, but most things are fair game.

Finally, I’d recommend writing ahead. It’s really benefited me to know what’s happening in the next few chapters before I edit for publishing. That way I can add in or change any details that no longer work with what’s coming up in the future.

I hope some of this makes sense (and is helpful) but like you’re right, it is hard. It’s such a scary process honestly and that’s part of why Wave of Mutilation is taking me so much time. But yeah I think it’s normal for it to feel kind of awful to do this kind of thing. Truly the only thing i hate more than writing is not writing.
