So.... why'd Peri get assigned Dev as his first godchild?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jorgen’s usually not the one in charge of assigning godchildren. There’s an entire department that weighs and classifies potentail Godkids to the right Fairy. Although it’s on strike at the moment.
So Jorgen has to do it by hand, until the union negotiations are resolved. Turns out trying to use paperclips is very hard. Itty bitty paperclips. Big muscular biceps. Not a good combo.

thinking about Sandor meeting and interacting with Sansa and having this intense emotional reaction to her and she forces him to confront what he believes about himself and he projects all this baggage onto her in the process and then he captures Arya and is like. hmm. well. this sure is different.
anyways, sometimes i think Stannis had a similar experience meeting Jon Snow, and then. Theon.

Dc x Dp Prompt #3
Immortal Ghost King Au:
Daniel Fenton was crowned as High King Phantom of the Infinite Realms on his 16th birthday. He knew many were opposed to him being crowned at such a young age (he was too), but the Realms had gone too long without a ruler and it was getting restless.
The Realms were sentient to some extent. It can not run itself as it has no form but it chooses a host, a King if you will, to fulfill its wishes. It may have lived on an entire millennia without a ruler, but it was only out of sheer luck and the contributions of countless gods that it had survived. The Infinite Realms needed a King and Danny Phantom was the only contender.
So the people were ignored and their boy king was crowned. However Phantom was young and naive, a child as both a human and a ghost. Even worse, he knew nothing about being a king. But the little godling would learn and learn he did.
Most kings were taught before they were coronated, but Danny had no such privilege. His coronation came and left with the wind. His private lessons overshadowed any thoughts he had left of mortal schooling. And Danny gave up on living a normal human life.
That last part was perhaps the easiest for Danny. Amity Park was already considered too liminal for them to have any “sentience”. The GIW had all but declared war on the Realms with their continuous violent actions upon his people and the land itself.
It wasn’t difficult for Amity to give up their “rights” and “humanity” either. They said good riddance to the world that never helped them, to the heroes that ignored their cries for help. And they bowed to Phantom, declaring him their King, just as he declared them citizens of the Infinite Realms.
He welcomed his liminals with open arms, vowing to protect them from any harm that would come their way, just as he would with any of his other citizens. He gave them a home in the Realms, an island- no a haunt of their own should they wish to truly reject the land of the living, and they accepted. Not many wanted to try their luck against the human government.
But with a God, no, their King on their side, they knew their safety and happiness was all but assured. After all, it was Phantom who protected them even as they turned their own backs at him. It was Phantom who fought against foes that could have erased him from existence.
And of course it was Phantom who would now receive any and all support he could ever want and need should he declare war against the humans of Earth. No, there was no need for people of the Infinite Realms to worry. High King Phantom was a God after all. It was only ever his right to exact divine punishment onto those who opposed and threatened his will. It was not their fault if the humans actively went against his will. No, the humans had no one but themselves to blame for whatever came for them.

Ya know what occurs to me?
Karai Bari is in the New World.
Crocodile and Mihawk only showed up after the establishment of the delivery service.
Buggy was in Paradise. Marineford would have been in Paradise, I think, or at least Buggy's crew still was.
He doesn't have conquerors to cross the calm belt.
So... to get to the New World and set up shop, he'd have to have gone through Fishman Island, wouldn't he? So he'd had to have gotten the ship coated.
He'd likely have had to face Rayleigh or at least he'd have anticipated it - maybe Shanks even mentions Rayleigh hanging around there, maybe even mentioning him having NEVER missed Shanks passing through....
So when Buggy goes when Buggy expects to be found and claims to be dreading it and is but is also so hopeful so scared so broken so hesitant he's got a few different courses figured for how this will go down.
Only.... Rayleigh isn't there. Shakky is. She just directs them to another coater. Buggy fights himself, wants to ask, doesn't want to beg, and-
Shakky answers the question he couldn'tdislodge from his throat. "Sorry, baby blue, Ray's just working on something real important. You know how it is."
He does. He does know how it is. Important, huh? That's fine. It's probably a job. It's probably not that big of a deal that dad master Rayleigh is preoccupied. Buggy shouldn't have expected the man to drop everything and come running why did he think that, Rayleigh never did it before, not even Shanks' assurance he'd leave a message for Rayleigh would change much, and fuck he can't afford to cry so-
So Buggy gets the ship coated. It's not as pricy as he'd worried. He navigates them down, can even bring himself to smile at the wide eyed wonder from the rest. It's nice. He's fine here - these are his people. He's okay, really, and he'll be able to let this go or shove it into that nameless box in his head and heart soon enough. He just has to ride the wave, you know-?
Only no. Not really. Because a newspaper lands in his hands. And his brain is racing.
Because Rayleigh wasn't at Sabaody at all. He was with Strawhat. He was training Strawhat. He showed up, after the war, so close to the conflict, to train the kid. Rayleigh is fast, but not that fast. He'd have to have left around a week before Buggy even arrived. Shanks had assured him Rayleigh was there when he dropped by ((two weeks ago)). He knew because his brother had wrapped him in his arm and tears were shed, voices were raised and hearts were broken, wounds torn open to drain the festering rot and the healing hurt, it hurt then, it hurts now, it will hurt and hurt and hurt, because Buggy had pushed the Big Top to her near limits just to reach the archipelago that his former guardian ex-father previous family that Rayleigh called home. Shanks had called him, said he'd dropped the message and Rayleigh had chuckled and nodded and Buggy wanted to see his dad because there were still so many scars that had to be seen and acknowledged and Buggy himself wasn't even fully recovered physically but emotionally he had to do it, had to take the step and try because vulnerability brought the best and worst of him out, because he lost a brother and gained him back and he wanted for his father, at least one of them.
But Strawhat was on that front page. And Rayleigh was behind him, smiling, warm, proud, happy, and - Buggy aches. He's angry. He's livid. A week or so, by his estimate, for Rayleigh to find him and get there to the war ground. A week or so because Rayleigh was old but he was still painfully fast. In a week or so, the older man hunted down a boy he'd possibly met once or twice in passing. A week or so and The Dark King showed up to bring another strawhat wearing monster of epic proportions under his wing, had made impressive time in finding the kid, making the plan, getting to the navy hq, getting out, and that's accounting for the article writing, printing, and distribution.
A week or so to find a bright little sunshine boy he barely knew when one he raised rotted in a cell for months on end.
Busy with something real important, he recalled Shakky saying.
His chest burned for a moment, hot and wild and unyielding - and just as suddenly, the fire was gone. He was tired. He was so fucking tired. His injuries throbbed, his head hurt, his scars itched. He sighed, set the paper aside and curled impossibly small into his chaise lounge with a teary chuckle as he gripped his hair and tried to silence the keen building in his chest. He cursed himself for it, bitter and angry.
After all, he should be used to being outshined, out classed and out loved by energetic boys with bright smiles in little wicker crowns.
Story of his life
He is unaware of the many eyes on him, of the people Plotting and Arranging things on their own time. Their captain is the best - uncommon, unexpected, temperamental though he is, he is everything everyone needs him to be because it's the only thing he knows how to do. They see the seams in his mask and performance, and they ache to pay back the pain left on their captain, their boss, their leader and friend. Buggy pirates stick together, freaks and weirdos united - and nobody is allowed to hurt their captain without some serious followup.

In Skywalker Apart AU. Since Luke is very much a rich kid he's the son of a Senator does he have any expensive hobbies like flying starfighters I'm sure Luke would love n-1 starfighter or does he just make models
I'm sure Padmé would LOVE it if he just made models but he's his father's son <3 she let go of him for 2 seconds while visiting Theed Palace and he was halfway through the launch sequence on an n-1
since then she's more careful and lets him learn flying the PROPER way with fancy tutors n stuff loll (cause hey, like u say, rich kid!). probably goes on some kinda summer flight camp or smthn and leaves having made every one of the instructors question their own skill

It's just kind of.... Odd. How dismissive so much of the spn fandom is about the writers who worked on the show. Treating them like they're talentless hacks and proverbial monkeys at typewriters but the thing is that they wrote the thing you love.
Actors will make changes to delivery or tweak lines when filming but ultimately, they are bringing words to life off the page. Words that were written by writers. I am not trying to devalue actors (bc they are also talented professionals), but they are building off of what the writers have created and are breathing life into it -- it's a collaborative partnership.
When a show runs as long as spn you're bound to have absurd coincidences like the villain of 07x12 telling Dean (on the in-universe date of 5 Nov 1944) that his future is covered in black ooze only to have 15x18 and the confession air on 5 Nov 2020. You can have happy accidents like casting an unknown actor in a guest part who is so good that he then goes on to play that role for 12 years. But to dismiss all of the themes and longer narrative arcs and every story decision as the result of writers banging on typewriters with no consideration?
You're devaluing the labor of creatives when you say everything was an accident and nothing was planned and you're playing right into the hands of networks and studios who are trying to screw over and underpay the creatives who they've made their money off of.

with all the recent news surrounding checo's performance clause with rbr, it got me wondering about Daniel's deal with McLaren. Did he also receive a similar contract clause from that team? like Ik that he was dropped without his prior knowledge but was he given options beforehand??
Daniel in fact had no such performance clause in his McLaren contract. He had an option to extend for 2023 that only he could trigger, which meant McLaren couldn't unilaterally decide to not extend him for 2023.
This was why Zak Brown went on his media tour criticising him and playing musical chair with his seat until he signed Piastri behind Daniel's back. They wanted Daniel to trigger that exit clause on his own so they wouldn't have to pay him out. In the end, Daniel left $18mil richer

hello! i wanted to ask whether there is any record of what isabella of valois’s reasons were for refusing to marry into the english royal family again after the death of richard ii. obviously it’s easy to speculate a variety of possible reasons, given the circumstances, but do we have evidence of what was actually primarily motivating that decision? or at least what reasons she gave publicly for it?
Hi, sorry for taking so long to get to your ask. The last few months have been hectic and I had to take some time to research this. The research took awhile because the image of Isabelle of Valois making a furious stand against Henry IV and refusing to marry his son is very common but actual contemporary sources for it... are not. At least, I haven't been able to find any.
I'm not saying that we definitely have no contemporary source for it - I'm aware that, since I can't read French or Latin and don't have access to an academic library, I can only check things that have been published or translated into English and are easily accessible. However, I'm reasonably certain that I've not missed anything obvious since none of the academic work I've read ever cite anything like the story. The most sources say is that Henry IV wanted Isabelle to marry into the royal family (e.g. Jean Creton claims that Henry wanted to marry a woman in the French royal family himself and marry his son, the future Henry V, to Isabelle) and that Charles VI* was steadfast in his refusal to even countenance the offer and instead wanted Isabelle to be returned.
The best source I could find for Isabelle's feelings on her potential remarriage is in Jean Froissart's Oeurves, which is available online for free but in French. Working off an ill-advised Google Translation and other historians' discussion of the passage, Jean de Hangest, lord of Hugueville was able to have a private audience with Isabelle, during which he informed her that her parents absolutely forbade her from marrying into the English royal family again and that she should refuse any efforts even if she incurred the wrath of the English. Isabelle confirmed that the English had spoken to her about marriage on several occasions (there are no other details were given) and then she asked Hugueville to assure her father of her obedience to his will and said, on fear of death, she wouldn't disobey him and marry without his permission. Then she began to weep and Hugueville ended their meeting.
Her anger at Henry IV does have some support in contemporary sources, however, but these relate to reports of her behaviour during the ceremonies for her return to France in Mary 1401.
The sources almost universally agree that Isabelle was agitated during the ceremonies, both in England and in France. Adam of Usk reports that she said little but scowled with "deep hatred" at Henry and that some feared "her burning desire for revenge". Other writers report her weeping during the ceremonies. Juvenal des Ursins, for instance, writes that she wept and continued to weep loudly, despite her parents' joyful greeting of her.
It's important to stress that Isabelle is given little to no direct speech in these reports (the exception is John Hayward who wrote Isabelle openly reproving Henry, but given he wrote during the Tudor era, his version should be considered suspect) and that all reports interpret her body language in order to fit their own narratives. For instance, Usk depicts her unconcealed anger as a sign of her childishness which, in turn, feeds his overall aim in discrediting Richard II's kingship. For Richard to choose such a young and childish girl for his queen speaks to a serious error in judgement and further adds to Lancastrian narrative of Richard being unable to mature into adulthood and rule properly.
This is not to say that Isabelle's agitation was a wholesale invention by the chroniclers but, rather, it is they who have assigned the meaning to her behaviour.
I suspect that the narrative of her furious refusal to the proposal that she marry Henry's son conflates the reports of Usk and Hayward (the latter of whom is probably given too much weight) with the fact of the marriage negotiations. It's a perfectly logical leap to make. We know from Hugueville that the English did speak to her about marriage but we know nothing about what was said or how she felt about it, so we borrow from the accounts of her open anger at Henry IV when she was returned to her parents. But in terms of actual evidence, all we know is that her parents had prohibited it and that Isabelle wished to be obedient to their will. It's also important to recognise that Isabelle was still under the age of consent so she, personally, could not agree to a marriage and permission had to be given by her parents as long she remained underage.
As you say, it's very easy to speculate. I came away from my research feeling incredibly sorry for Isabelle. It's very, very easy imagine that Richard's deposition and the prolonged negotiations between England and France over her future were incredibly distressing, especially when we read of the pressure she was under from both sides. It would be entirely natural if she did resent Henry for what he had done to her and to Richard and I do think there was at least some truth to Usk's reports of her anger. In terms of what she felt about her potential husband - who was very probably the future Henry V, though the official records are somewhat vague on this point - we have no evidence.
* I use "Charles VI" here as it was in his name that these actions were carried out. It should be read as a shorthand for his government as due to his severe mental illness it is not always clear who was directing French policy. As far as I can make out, however, Charles was in one of his lucid periods during these negotiations.

I think it's important to resist the urge to pathologize ultimately harmless behavior like maybe you can trace it back to its parent disorder but if it's not harmful to you in any way that isn't a symptom it's just a trait
