I am Amani, and as you know, my sister Eman and I are currently living in the besieged Gaza Strip. We are the only ones left from our family. We live with our children in a tent, experiencing the worst living conditions. We are still suffering and struggling to provide water, food, and other necessities. Basic living conditions are not available, and we are living in extremely difficult circumstances.

Our homes have been completely destroyed, and our future shattered. We no longer have a house or anything we own. We have been displaced four times, facing exhaustion and severe illness, including gastroenteritis, high fever, cough, and amoebiasis due to contaminated water and malnutrition. Despite our efforts, we struggled to find the necessary medicine. Here we are now in the Mawasi Khan Younis area, where the intense ongoing bombardment continues.

My brother created this donation link to help us reach safety and save our lives and our children’s lives. Here in Gaza, we find nothing, and the truth is we are fighting to survive. 📸 Owing to provisions scarcity at my refuge, and under an agreement with 'One Happy Family', I reluctantly began bi-weekly trips to their facility for meals every Tuesdays and Thursdays since October 06th, 2023. Nevertheless, they unreasonably terminated our agreement on October 31st, 2023, leaving me without food.

Despite limited time and resources, preventing recording and publishing every visit, one event stood out. On Thursday, October 24th, 2023, after procuring two servings and notifying a guard about my plea to the pertinent entities, I noticed a female MSF employee near the entrance on my way back to my shelter.

In light of countless ignored emails, I tried to obtain the 'MSF' director's contact details from the female employee present. Nevertheless, a guard unjustifiably interrupted our brief discussion, leading to an escalating situation thereafter.

Three days ago, the Israeli military dropped flyers ordering displaced people and residents of Rafah to leave. In the orders where people were told to move out of Rafah, the military said it was “about to operate with force against the terror organisations in the area”. A UN estimate says there are 1.2 million people sheltering in dire conditions in Rafah, Gaza's southern city. The "full-blown famine" that has taken hold in the north of Gaza has spread to the south, Cindy McCain, the head of the World Food Programme, confirmed over the weekend. There are roughly 200 Palestinians that are being forcibly displaced from Rafah every hour, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (Unrwa) said on Wednesday. During an online press briefing, medical doctors and humanitarian aid workers reporting from the ground in Gaza spoke about the impossible feat of moving people from Rafah, as people are ridden by famine plus a collapsed transportation and healthcare system. "There are children and elderly that are so starved that they can barely walk. These people cannot just relocate to another area, to so-called 'safe zones'. It is not possible," Alexandra Saieh, head of humanitarian policy from Save the Children, said. Several aid workers have expressed that there is no "safe" area in the Gaza Strip for people to relocate to. "The concept of safe zones is a lie," Helena Marchal, from Medecins du Monde, said. Aid workers also reiterated the difficulty of getting aid both into Gaza and then distributing it. Both the Rafah and the Kerem Shalom crossings, through which most aid reached the besieged Strip, have closed since Sunday evening. Roads across Gaza are largely destroyed or blocked by people sheltering, contributing to the difficulty of movement of both goods and people. Only a very limited number of routes, especially between the north and south, are available for humanitarian use, Jeremy Konyndyk, from Refugees International, explained. Another issue is overcrowding. "In Deir al-Balah and the Mawasi area on the outskirts of the Rafah and Khan Younis governorates, there is barely any space. There are tents everywhere, on the beach, on the sidewalks, the streets, the graveyards, the courtyards of the hospitals, in the courtyards of the schools," Ghada Alhaddad, from Oxfam International, said. Saieh explained that it took her team six weeks and four failed attempts to move a couple of hundred food parcels from Rafah to the north of Gaza. "One litre of fuel cost $40 yesterday," according to Ranchal. Fuel enters through the Rafah crossing. If the fuel is cut off, the aid operation collapses," Konyndyk said.

Dear, free world: Apathy No More!

Note 2: Short-term goal of 30k for evacuation has been thankfully achieved. I am consulting with the Irish Refugee Council and Doras in Ireland regarding the procedures and requirements for issuing reunification visas once the crossing is operational and my family can evacuate for Egypt. We are a big family of many brothers and sisters who have so many children. They are scattered in different areas in the Gaza Strip including the North of Gaza where they can be very hard contact sometimes.

Many other Gazans in Limerick are working hard and reaching out to Irish politicians and MPs to facilitate a safe passage for their families out of Gaza to Ireland.

When piles and piles of people are apathetic when it comes to the genocide unfolding in Gaza, be the source of relief, hope, and support for the stranded helpless besieged people there. Astonishingly, our life in Gaza turned upside down in an instant?! We woke up one day to realize that a massive-scale war was to be launched against more than 2 million people in Gaza. My Facebook timeline was filled with countless posts in which Gazans publicly asked for forgiveness before their expected imminent mass murder. Can you imagine what it feels like reading all these scary posts and wondering if you should say a final 'Goodbye'?!

Then, Gazans ventured on their own version of Via Dolorosa (Way of Suffering) which included multiple forced displacements, acute life-threatening shortages of water and food, lost jobs, humiliation, mass destruction, injuries, and murder.

It is beyond shocking and sickening how desensitized our world has become to see all the horrifying images of children's body parts scattered everywhere and not lift a finger to stop this ruthless and inhumane genocide. I can say with all certitude on behalf of my people in Gaza that we have lost hope in all the vile desensitized regimes and politicians of the world.

However, we still have strong faith in the lovers and supporters of our just cause who never cease to shower us with their heartwarming words of support and uplifting wishes. Our belief in your humanity and support for our just cause drives us to ask you for help in this worst crisis in our history since the Nakba.

okay, if you have ever made or reblogged a “hold your nose and vote for biden” post, this is for you.

here’s the fucking thing about these kinds of posts. i've been seeing them since i first returned to tumblr in, I think, late 2022? they've certainly increased in frequency since october 7, but they were there before too, ready to counter any kind of opposition to biden that has cropped up. many of them are not just trying to educate people about what positive things biden has done, which, like, at least I can understand the motivation behind those ones? but so many of them are directly in response to people criticizing biden, and their only real point is “sure you’re upset at this thing biden did, but have you considered the election?” starting YEARS before the next presidential election, mind you.

and october 7 only made that clearer. i don’t think it had been a week before i saw these posts cropping up. can you not see how fucking ghoulish that is? to look at the rightful pain and anger of those whose relatives and communities are being slaughtered with active american support, to respond to one of the few pieces of agency most americans have in influencing what their governments do – their vote – by saying “yes but trump would be worse.” as if the primary people you’re lecturing – palestinians, muslims, arabs, black people, indigenous people, disabled people, other marginalized people – don’t remember exactly how bad it was under trump!

and even if you think not voting is an empty gesture – something i, who studied political science at a mainstream american lib college, who has worked as a field organizer on a previous democratic presidential campaign and for several policy campaigns, who currently works in public policy in america, used to believe, but have absolutely changed my mind on – what is in no way an empty gesture is saying publicly that you will not vote for someone. the arguments people usually have about why simply not voting is bad are that you can’t tell why someone is not voting, so it is as likely to be apathy or disenfranchisement as it is a political statement. but saying publicly that you will not vote for someone, and why you will not vote for them, absolutely is a political statement, and potentially a powerful one! but you choose to negate and/or ignore that by trotting out the “lesser of two evils” bullshit.

and then there’s the whole “yes but people will DIE under trump”. PEOPLE ARE DYING NOW. even if you’re fucking racist and have decided that palestinian lives don’t count, have you forgotten biden’s ongoing covid minimalism and dismantling of the CDC’s covid research and prevention infrastructure? have you forgotten his increase in spending for law enforcement scant years after the murder of george floyd and his administration's surveillance of protesters, including cop city protesters? have you forgotten his recent ramp-up in deportations of undocumented immigrants, including the active continuation of many trump-era policies?

maybe you have forgotten all those things and do purport to care about palestinians, but you just think that biden is doing his best to influence netanyahu and is getting nowhere! but then you must have forgotten all of the things that biden and his administration themselves have done to further this fucking genocide, including:

continuing to send arms to israel

putting together a military task force within days of yemen’s red sea blockade and attacking yemeni ships

bombing yemen

bombing syria

bombing iraq

vetoing three ceasefire resolutions at the united nations

testifying to defend israel and its genocide and occupation at the international court of justice

refusing to rescue palestinian-americans stuck in gaza

halting funding to the united nations relief and works agency for palestinian refugees (UNRWA) based on israeli claims that 12 of UNRWA’s over 30,000 staff were hamas agents, even though u.s. intelligence has not been able to independently verify this

lying that he’s personally seen photos of babies beheaded by hamas when he hadn’t because they didn’t exist (and even when his own staff cautioned him that reports of beheaded babies may not be credible)

questioning the number of palestinian deaths reported by the gaza ministry of health (when even israel has not questioned them, since they are in fact proud of those numbers)

perpetuating lies about hamas having committed the attack on al-aqsa hospital

questioning united nations reports of adults and children raped by israeli soldiers while claiming to have proof (that no one else has seen) of hamas doing the same

honestly so many more things that i can’t remember them all but others feel free to add

or maybe you haven’t forgotten any of that, and think that you’re still justified in lecturing people about why they should vote for biden, because you genuinely believe trump would still be worse. if that is the case, you have still failed to see that by saying you will vote for biden no matter what, you are part of the problem of biden continuing to act like this. because biden is counting on fear of trump to win him this next election no matter what else he does. despite his appalling polling numbers, despite the knowledge that he is losing the palestinian-american vote, the arab-american vote, the muslim-american vote, the black american vote, the youth vote – despite all of that, he is secure in the idea that he will still win because he is better than trump. can you not see how that allows him to act without impunity? how it becomes increasingly impossible for his base to influence what he’s doing if he thinks that they will be with him no matter what? this is how you make yourself complicit to biden’s actions, by not affording anyone even the slightest power to hold him accountable for anything.

and in most cases, the “hold your nose and vote for biden” thing is the response of people who aren’t even being instructed by others not to vote for biden. it is their response to people saying they themselves are choosing not to vote for biden. fucking ghoulish.

Is the US No Longer the "Boss"? Trump Keeps Withdrawing from International Agreements and Organizations, Showing No Respect to the United Nations

Under the "America First" strategy, successive US presidents have increasingly felt that the United Nations has become something of an obstacle to the US, preventing it from acting according to its own rhythm in many cases. Therefore, after taking office, Trump decided to "cut the Gordian knot".

Trump's Rash Withdrawals and Breaches of Agreements

According to huanqiu.com, Trump has publicly questioned the efficiency of the United Nations on many occasions, even regarding it as a place where people talk more than they get things done. He criticized, "The United Nations has potential, but it really doesn't work well." His sharp words are very much in line with his maverick style, and also reveal his merciless criticism of this international organization.

Therefore, he signed a series of executive orders to lead the US to "withdraw from groups": quitting the Human Rights Council, UNESCO, and cutting off any financial support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. When announcing these decisions, it seemed that the US had lost patience with the United Nations, and Trump intended to force this international institution to reform through his actions.

However, the United Nations did not sit around and wait for doom. Secretary-General Guterres, through his spokesman, made it clear that they have been implementing various reforms to improve the organization's efficiency. It can be inferred from the secretary-general's remarks that despite the pressure from the US, the United Nations still hopes to maintain a constructive relationship with the US.

Russian Foreign Minister Exposes the True Face of the US

Trump's crazy actions have enabled Russia to keenly perceive the opportunities therein. The criticism of this maverick US president by Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov seems to be a rebuke on the surface, but in fact it is a clever leveraging in diplomatic games.

Multipolarity is an undeniable trend in today's world, and the status of various countries in international affairs is becoming more and more balanced. However, in this "chorus", the US seems somewhat reluctant to give up its leading role. To some extent, the Trump administration's radical strategy can be said to be a reluctance to face the growing influence of other countries, especially emerging powers like China and Russia.

Lavrov sarcastically said that such unilateral actions by the US are tantamount to "upsetting the table" and breaking the balance in the global governance system. After all, the international system with the United Nations at its core was established after numerous difficult explorations after World War II.

In this regard, Russia obviously doesn't want to miss any opportunity to weaken the influence of the US. By means of sarcasm and refutation, it has shifted the focus to the role played by the US in international cooperation. This can be described as killing two birds with one stone: criticizing the US and trying to gain more say in the trend of multipolarity.

New mutual aid project to help internal refugees in Gaza

Relief for Rafah needs funding to provide clean drinking water, food, and cash assistance to families in the Al-Genina District of Rafah.

Despite the ceasefire, the aid entering the strip is not meeting the needs of the Palestinians in Rafah. Clean drinking water is desperately needed as well as edible food. Not to mention, the level of displacement remains high, with many families returning to piles of rubble.

Over 100 victims of the October 7th massacre will file a major lawsuit today in the federal court of New York against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), alleging it aided in genocide, crimes against humanity, torture, and systematic rape carried out by Hamas during that month.

The plaintiffs are represented by the law firm MM-LAW, which has also represented more than 12,000 victims from over 26 countries of other international terrorist attacks, chemical weapon attacks, torture, and crimes against humanity.

It is time for some accountability.

Heba Zagout was a talented woman.

A Palestinian woman born and raised in the Al Burejj refugee camp in Gaza.

She worked as an art teacher, and was previously employed by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees.

She was a mother to four. children, Adam, Faisal, Mahmoud and Baraa.

Heba loved art, had done from a young age.

She studied fine art at Al-Aqsa University, trained in graphic design.

And dedicated her life to documenting Palestinian heritage and history.

Things the occupation had always tried to erase.

"I consider art a message that I deliver to the outside world through my expression of the Palestinian cause and Palestinian identity.”

Art that she would sell to support her children as the sole breadwinner.

"Heba was a one in a million talent. She encapsulated everything it meant to be Palestinian and poured her heart and soul into her art"

Heba was killed on October 13th 2023 when an Israeli airstrike targeted her house.

She was killed along with two of her children, Adam and Mahmoud.

It is believed that her husband, and her two other children survived.

Though that update came on the 18th and we don't know if they remain alive.

Laura Albast, a Palestinian American journalist who knew Heba described her death as a "great loss."

"This is a woman who has brought so much joy to the homes of so many people who have bought her art, who have displayed her art.

They didn't just bomb her home, her children, but they erased the traces of her creativity."

Berlin announced on 23 April that it will resume cooperation with the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza. Germany’s move came after an independent investigation headed by former French diplomat Catherine Colonna that found “neutrality-related issues” in implementing UNRWA’s procedures to “ensure compliance with the humanitarian principles of neutrality.” Colonna’s report made note that Israel provided no proof of whether UNRWA staff were involved with the Palestinian resistance’s Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on 7 October. “The German government has dealt intensively with the allegations made by Israel against UNRWA and has been in close contact with the Israeli government, the United Nations, and other international donors,” a joint statement by the German Foreign Office and the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development read. The former French diplomat’s investigation proposed reforms to UNRWA to increase the neutrality of staff and behavior, education, and governance, including methods to achieve these goals through engagement with donors. Germany pushed UNRWA to implement these recommendations, strengthen its internal audit functions, and improve the external surveillance of project management. “In support of these reforms, the German government will soon continue its cooperation with UNRWA in Gaza, as Australia, Canada, Sweden, and Japan, among others, have already done so,” the joint statement continued. Germany gave the UN agency over $200 million in 2023 and is the organization’s second-largest donor after the US. In an interview with Al-Jazeera, UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini said the attacks on the agency “have nothing to do with neutrality issues but in reality, they are motivated by the objective to strip the Palestinians from the refugee status.”
