This is my Dusttale: Obsessed Monster take. Since it was not intended to stray too far from the canon and instead fix what I disliked about him, I simply refer to it as "Obsessed Monster Reimagined". Essentially it derived from my other Reimagined dust timeline "Carnos Reimagined DustDust". Essentially after Dust failed and the human reset, his DT caused an anomaly in which his LV reset from Max (twenty) but his stats didn't and he was still considered to be LV twenty but was displayed as zero so he could achieve LV twenty again, but the more he climbed over twenty the more his body deformed and mutated to be monstrous. This takes place after that iteration fails and another reset takes place, enhancing the anomaly a little by making Dust remain the abomination he's become, resetting his LV again but not his stats, and removing the progression cap. Essentially Obsessed was able to climb to LV twenty and keep gaining LV stat bonuses even though his LV remained twenty, so it's like he could still gain LV but it wouldn't show more than twenty. Obsessed Monster never used souls in this au, instead he wanted to defeat the human without the help of souls, he wanted to crush them, to become the new soul of determination and see them suffer as he makes them feel a fraction of the suffering and helplessness he's felt. Sans makes a device and hides, waiting for the human to reach the barrier, and as they do he initiates the device while they're passing through, firing the power of the souls through the human, not killing them but creating a short power burst equivalent of seven human souls, destroying the barrier, allowing Sans to escape while the humans left unconscious. By the time the human awakens, the world has fallen, Sans has personally exterminated all life, both man and beast alike. The human would progress out of ebot and into a ruined city, the sky black from the new moon night. Eventually they'd encounter this newly deformed horrifying Sans, his voice borderline demonic, deep, distorted, and dark. Sans and the human battled, the human struggled but somehow managed to cut him down. However, when Sans was struck to zero, he uttered the words "Did you really think it would be that easy?" Before fading to dust, however he was not dead, the abomination that was Sanses true form, the eldritch horror he had become, appeared on the horizon with it's claws gripping the side of the world, as if holding it steady from orbit. This abomination opened the terrifying maw upon it's chest as it slowly charged a blast, red light shining from it's chest, the humans eyes filled with nothing but unbridled terror as the beam fired, eradicating them and the world. With this, Sans reset, and if the human ever returned, he would grant them the same hell again, and again, and again.
Please keep in mind this is a W.I.P, it and Carno RE were made last night out of boredom

Hey, I have a question about your referencing/copying/tracing guide: what is the difference between referencing and copying when you are making art from photos? Especially when you’re using the photo to understand the form of the subject, but not the framing or lighting (which is the main way photographers convey their artistic intent). Like, is it usually referencing, since you’re not engaging with many artistic choices to copy, or can it often be considered copying since you are straight up copying the form of the portrayed object?
i had a very big thing typed up i'd thought about for a few days then my computer crashed and i lost it so lets see if i remember ;w;
i feel like this is a case where the difference between copying and referencing isn't really the point, it's more about considering yourself what's important to the piece you're referencing, how you're using it, and how is it important to your own work.
copying and referencing depending on the subject matter and need can be virtually the same so it really becomes case-by-case even if it's photography. like are you drawing an arm exactly as you see it, or is it a completely different pose and you just want to see muscle groups?
i understand what you mean, but i would say too that any aspect of a photo can have intent or lack thereof and it also depends on the type of photography since it's just as broad as any other type of art.
this is why i say it's more important to consider the piece and make your own judgement as to whether or not your work breaches the other. if you copy a hand from a photo that's usually fine, but what if the entire piece is the hand and you're now reusing a large percentage of their work? but also you could argue a hand is a hand and not unique in that way. it varies.
everyone is going to have their own opinion on where the line is, that's why this is so grey. when it comes to referencing a subject i'm unfamiliar with i find it helpful to pull from as many sources as possible, it makes it less likely i'm accidentally copying from someone else and means i'm actually working to understand the subject. that or i often just take reference photos myself wherever possible.

one thing i love about lighter is even though it's a collab and they didn't write most of the lyrics, behind the happy vibe there is still the 5sos emotion and themes to it. references to colours being brighter (and i've said before about the use of 'black and white' and 'colourblind' in calm evolving into 'darkness turns to gold' and several other colours on 5sos5, then now there is this). like it's not just an airy pop song with lines like 'when the world is heavy as stone' 'when i'm hollow' and it's easy not to pick up on those if you're just looking for a bop to listen to even when you are listening to the lyrics--but when it's the happiest song they've put out in almost a decade (and possibly the only happy song luke has ever properly sung lead on) it's such a triumphant story that it exudes and I can't stop thinking about that

Contrasting Elements working in harmony While referencing for my current idea i came across a video which had a combination of elements that i did not expect to fit each other when put together. The Video is a Promotional Advertisement for a patch release on a mobile game called BRAWL STARS. As a Concept, the video takes in elements of the Medieval Fantasy genre of Dungeons & Dragon and Combines it with a proper BANGER metal music instead of the mainstream Instrumental soundtracks created by vielle, harp, psaltery, flute, shawm, bagpipe, drums etc while also visually breaking the norms despite maintaining the same setup and theme throughout (Sometimes even going as far as bringing in Robots in the screenplay).
I have also consumed a lot of medieval concept where the commonly used colors are Darker, with lots grays added to the overall palette in order to establish the age or era where you have to either fight people to survive or Demon, Monsters, Orcs etc. For instance Diablo Immortal, LOTR the game and even the Series, Game of Thrones.... all of these are masterpieces and will probably be the first point of reference to creating anything that lies in the domain of Medieval Fantasy Genre. However, this particular video uses bright backgrounds and To keep the theme about Dragons, I felt the use of warm, fiery color palette for the video was a very clever choice as it helps us stay in the same setting where Dragons and humans exist and clash often. As the video continues, we see the Main Character who is a performer, a rockstar with an electric guitar ,Light War Armor, Gauntlet and a Helm & long Hair. He is mentioned as the savior of dragons and tamer of trolls. Being able to ride dragons and make them fight his battles most likely due to his Charismatic storytelling and his ability to play guitar which is quite an amusing idea! It makes him one of the most (if not the most) powerful being to exist, without even picking up a weapon.

The Character Design is clearly Cartoony with most characters being 3 heads in proportion and has a lot of appeal which adds a blend of comical and casual take on the theme , a unique way to portray this concept in my opinion. The sequencing and acting of the character demonstrates a layer of wild Rock and Roll touch to a fighter with a number of quality keyposes that I found aspiring and compelling on the lines were it hits the theme accurately with the movements of the characters

I had never thought distinct ideas ie Metal, Dungeons and Dragons, Toons and 2D Animation could work in such harmony to promote a Game that i was unaware of (which i ended up downloading because of how much i loved this video!). This opens up new horizons for my thought process while coming up with a concept or a story and exploring elements which in the beginning might not even look anywhere close to being related. P.S. Heres the link to the Video

"Ah. I'm sorry about that. This little guy ran off because he got a little too close to weapons testing earlier. And they were testing mines." Fuery sighed and lifted Black Hayate up into his arms. ~ team-chaotics
Hotaru had paused when she heard barking and turned to look at the ground to see a small dog. She didn't always like dogs, but these small ones were fine. Then hands appeared and snatched the dog and Hotaru looked up to see a young looking man with large round glasses that were... charming. She smiled at him, and gave a small bow in greeting. "Shinpai shinaide kudasai. There was no harm done." She said and reached out to scratch the small dog's ears. Then she noticed the uniform. "You must be military. Do you know Ed? He's been such a joy to have in my shop." Hotaru smiled happily, thinking of the young boy that helped her run her shop.

Trace me!
Maybe this is a hot take, but I don't care if people trace, reference, copy or repost my art, as long as they credit me properly for anything derivative that they're taking credit for.
*I support young artists' journeys on principle.*
That goes for anyone else, too. Creativity is derivative in nature, but as with anything, ever, it is so, so important that you cite your sources. Now, this doesn't mean encroach on people's boundaries if they have a strict rule against any of these things. But if you ask permission, and give proper credit, you'd be surprised how encouraging some people will be.
Good artists borrow, great artists steal, the best artists give credit.
