this is red banana or banana rossa, made in italy in 2004, about the butterfly landmine/PFM-1 mine developed by the soviet union and used by the russian federation. they are brightly-colored, on purpose, so that they can attract a child’s attention who might see them as toys.

in israel, right now the idf is dropping explosives hidden in food cans to attract the attention of men, women and children who are starving.

Three age periods of the Bastard himself!

Unripe to growing, Banana Eel was originally just a cursed child whom wandered from house to house- until he eventually found himself on the sea. He found work in it, though he often got into trouble for stealing stock and being a general nuisance. One run-in with pirates, and he was changed forever. Felt quite inspired by their greed and glory.

Then, a few decades in the future. Much more browned and ripened- partly by his age but much more by his curse. There was a side effect he discovered very late into his life, and it was that his body ripening (and further down, degrading/rotting) is dependent on how often he used it... and well, he uses it a lot.

His later years focus on getting rid of the curse, as it got hard to live the same way he did before.

The Ji Xiang Ang Ku Kueh (吉祥红龟粿) pop up stall at Sun Plaza has a table full of colourful Kuehs or Kuihs (粿). It is a fairly broad term which may include items that would be called cakes, cookies, dumplings, pudding, biscuits, or pastries in English and are usually made from rice or glutinous rice. Picked up four vivid red Peanut Ang Ku Kuehs and two green Coconut Ang Ku Kuehs for a total of S$9. Peeling away the square of banana leaf and taking a bite, the skin is so soft and stretchy. Both the grounded peanut and sweetened desiccated coconut fillings are so fragrant but not overly sweet.
