a domino effect that occurs because Orochimaru was involved with Danzo at the time Uzushiogakure fell, he was the seal master who put naruto together as Danzo couldnt make heads or tails of that shit. Since the seals took in nature chakra from the surroundings to power the majority of them Orochimaru RUNS with implementing that on Kimimaro to keep him from death's door. He's still Other though since his connection to death was disrupted with pushing his soul close to the death/life veil making his body temperature colder. He can even see the souls of those still on this plane. Orochimaru is SO proud of his prodigy he doesn't infiltrate Sunagakure with such a powerful shinobi working under him He gets another bone form cause i wanna make Naruto and him clash in a giant fight/Naruto's bid for friendship

god I miss the feeling of watching the Mighty Nein for the first time, but what I’m specifically missing right now are the guest characters. Reani and Calliana and Twiggy and Shakaste and Keg. they were all so …… hnnn I don’t even know how to describe it. but they had such a different flavor to the Bells Hells’ guests, they were so friendly and fun and really earned the “welcome to the Mighty Nein!” bit

I’ve noticed this thing in a lot of re-animator fics where everyone has just agreed that Herbert does not have a license, or can’t drive, or doesn’t have a license but will still drive if needed, what is with that ? Nobody wants this man behind the wheel, passenger princess…..

I can't speak for everyone else, but me and my friend just randomly said one day while we were chatting about reani that there was no way Herbert had a license lmao. There's just something about him that screams 'terrible driver!' Like, he'd be running stop signs, mounting the curb, taking turns way too fast, narrowly missing pedestrians, etc. He's just that kind of gay, I guess.

finished reading the reani novelization here's my review: not gay enough

naruto au! naruto au! naruto au! this ones whump centered as naruto is already dead! but not! When Uzushiogakure was attacked and eventually sunk into oblivion they had seal arts that Danzo drooled over. He stole what made Uzushiogakure so hard to raid in the first place, the sealing art they created to protect their walls. Incorporating the dead and their chakra network to act as sentinels. Of course theyre not sentient but Naruto had the unfortunate luck of being in a preservation scroll to be incorporated into those sentinel seals while the village was being raided and destroyed. He's remade from holy sentinel to Danzo's invisible threat. Rumored to be a will o wisp and a ghostly howling wind when you get on Danzo's bad side. He's even pulled out in the Kyuubi vs Obito fight, leading to Minato and Kushina to LIVE. But with ROOT Danzo doesn't use Naruto more than needed as he never wanted to be in the limelight of Konohagakure but as the shadow kage of the village. Naruto's left to his own devices in the Forty Fourth training ground more or less before the chunin exams wake him up with Gaara's blood freakout.

So, we all know the iconic scene where Herbert beheads Dr. Hill with the shovel, and spits the iconic, "Plagiarist!" line. It's funny and very in-character for Herbert West.

Well, what if I told you...

Nope...turns out the entire time he says,

"Laid to rest."

I discovered this when putting together an integral cut of the film with CC (DM me if you want the link!). I sourced all existing clips and CC from the Arrow DVD release from 2012 and when I got to this scene was shocked to see, "laid to rest," and not "plagiarist." I thought maybe it could have been an error in the CC, so first I took a closer look at the clip:

When Jeff delivers the line, his lips don't touch to make the "P" sound.

Okay, well I could be hearing wrong, it could be off-sync audio, or it could've been ADR/looped incorrectly in post. All valid points. Which is why, I cross-referenced the CC on other platforms. And...

Both Tubi (top) and Apple (bottom) caption it "laid to rest"

But we don't stop there! For further confirmation why, let's check out to see how the novelization did this scene. And...

"...Laid to rest."

And if you're still not convinced, I regret to inform that going back to THE SOURCE - the original screenplay - is a dead end. The scene was not originally scripted with dialogue so this line was either improvised by Jeff, or work shopped between him and Stuart Gordon on set or in-post.

In conclusion:

out of curiosity what don’t you like about imo/dna and some of the fans?

i'm extremely hesitant to engage with this at all (learned my lesson last campaign) but basically, and i'm hoping people take this in good faith: i was gonna say there's nothing i don't like about im*dna, but to be totally honest i do find that the direction it went with in canon fell a bit flat for me. which is not to say i actively dislike it, i just don't personally love it. and to be fair all of campaign three is just not holding my attention for whatever reason.

i think the fandom has a very strong tendency to flatten literally any two female characters* into "THEY'RE LESBIANS" and give them the personalities of wet cardboard that occasionally makes out. and i get it, femslash is rare, the og bechdel test, etc etc. the urge to take any two female characters and Put Them Together is strong.

but i think it's such a shame that people feel the need to impose this cookie cutter, cutesie anygirl gay personality onto critical role characters specifically. because we're NOT working with flat cw characters that the writers are gonna queerbait us about on twitter before it gets cancelled five seasons in where the gayest moment is one of them putting a hand on the other's shoulder that gets giffed a million times. this isn't even a well intentioned ship written by gay writers who consistently get screwed over by the network. this is not glee, this is not disney, this is not marvel, this is not star wars.

this is a show with well written canonically queer women that have complex, intimately explored relationships that the fandom is hell bent on flattening into super boring recreations of traditional relationships where they must get married and they must have children and one of them is the breadwinner while the other one is a housewife and there's a white picket fence etc etc etc. and it drives me. fucking. nuts. i was on my phone in the theater during episode one of campaign three and people started shipping im*dna within the first five minutes. and i'm not saying there's anything wrong with that per se, but at that point, what is the ship based on if not stuff you're completely making up and then stuffing into the shell of these character's physical appearance?

beauyasha last campaign was so well developed; they both had strong individual emotional journeys that intersected with each other only once beau was ready to accept that she deserved love and yet they were woven together from the beginning. every single goddamn beauyasha moment hits so hard--the first flight, the letter, the tower date, the cathedral--because the groundwork was laid out and both characters plus the relationship was developed with so much care. kimallura lives in my head rent free as one of my favorite love stories and i haven't even finished campaign one. and both characters are matt! i know those are the "endgame" ships and that's all anyone cares about, but everyone else--keyleth, zahra, vex, reani, keg, cali, fearne, deanna--and those are just the pcs--have been well crafted and complex women who are all over the spectrum of "very promiscuous" to "idk about kissing", who have different priorities and feelings and interests and virtues and flaws. it just breaks me to see them filed down to nothing.

EDIT: i totally forgot about the bright queen and her partner. i haven't read the comic yet, i know, i'm sorryyyy

*massive disclaimer that it's not just the femslash; i have just as long a rant on the m/m ships and i think this is why i've carved out my niche of trans bi m/f ships lol. which is not to say those shippers are automatically good either, there's just literally far fewer people shipping them.
