mlp fim: the cart before the ponies

i just realised that in the cart before the ponies, all the other foals are participating in the race with their older sister/parents whereas diamond tiara is with her butler.

whilst all the other fillies ride with a family member, diamond tiara rides with her butler.

the derby does not require the presence of a parent or an older sibling; any "older pony" would be fine. but because everypony else (i've attached an image from the Wiki for reference) seems to look like their partner, we can guess that they are all older siblings or parents.

now it doesn't look like randolph and diamond have a particularly close relationship (she shoves him aside and takes credit for his work in twilight time), and because he's the family butler, he probably ended up joining in the derby where her parents could not.

but why can't her parents join? the derby appears to be a pretty big event for ponyville. perhaps filthy rich was busy doing some business stuff but spoiled rich is the head of the school board (crusaders of the lost mark). since the school was promoting it and there are school children in the race, surely it would look good for spoiled rich to join in on this race, if not for diamond tiara's wellbeing and happiness.

so i thought it just a bit sad that diamond tiara had to race with her butler (an employee who has no real relationship with her) whereas everyone else got to race with someone that they (presumably) love.

i don't know, maybe i'm looking for too much into this... what do you guys think?

I don't write super long fics like this, I do series, but I've been repeatedly told my splatoon series (which are both over 100k) are Supremely Bingeable.

So I went in and, in the author's notes at the end of a couple fics (every 30-40k or so) I put a 'Hey! Stop reading! Go use the bathroom and get a drink! This is a health checkpoint!' notice.

I'm well aware people are *ignoring* them but at least I'm not responsible for their failures anymore.

because here's the thing here's the thing the question was not "would you be more surprised to run into a fairy or a walrus" the question was "would you be more surprised to find a fairy or a walrus AT YOUR DOOR" and while no, i do not believe in fairies and would be surprised to know they EXIST i would NOT be surprised to find one at my door. HOWEVER, if a WALRUS shows up at my door i have to contend with the fact that a walrus somehow made it to my apartment specifically and knocked on my door for god knows what reason. i would be more surprised to know that a fairy EXISTS, of course, but NOT that they're at my door, do you get me?

For a long time I thought dilate meant literally the exact opposite of what it actually means (I thought it meant contracting in a circle, it actually means expanding in a circle), because I knew from context it was about that circular expansion/contraction I just got the direction wrong. So sentences I'd use it in would be fully grammatically correct and fit properly, they'd just be wrong. Same thing happened with dearth actually; I thought it meant an excess when it actually means a lack.
