The Great Laurel and Hardy 😊😊

They first appeared together in a short film called ( Lucky Dog ) in 1921 although they didn't appear as a partnership until a later production called ( Putting Pants On Phillip ) in 1927.

They'd signed with Hal Roach under separate contracts a year earlier in 1926. Hal had noticed an obvious on screen chemistry between the pair and encouraged them to work together which they did creating some of their most iconic roles. Sometimes I think Hal Roach's contribution gets a little overlooked which is why I've decided to include a wonderful interview he did with David Letterman. Laurel and Hardy split from Roach in 1940 but for me Universal had a little too much of a hands on approach. I felt the creative freedom Roach had given them in those early years had gone and it began to show as their later material started to look more like that of the studios than anything they themselves had created. For me the Universal years were a far cry from the heights of those wonderful classics with Hal Roach. I think Stan Laurel himself would admit to this in one of his later interviews.

I decided it might be a good idea to start off with a rare two part interview given by Stan Laurel, it's well worth a listen 😊. I'll also add the classic dance routine from Way Out West followed by Hal Roach's interview , enjoy 😁

so Idk if this is fandom lore, but while I used to watch and love House while it was airing, it wasn't until yesterday I really started looking into fandom and fanfic...but what's this all about RSL being the biggest Hilson hater, and Hugh Laurie being the biggest Hilson fan about??

basically it’s a running joke in the fandom about a bunch of interviews from during the show’s run in which rsl got super annoyed by anything that could, by any stretch of the imagination, imply hilson. and hugh laurie would always try to shut him up and very directly imply hilson.

from very early on in the show, hugh laurie said that he’d be fine with canon hilson as long as it was well written, and that he expected house to “go through” cameron, cuddy, and wilson if the show were to go on long enough.

rsl, on the other hand, started like a cat every time someone mentioned even the possibility of hilson, which i find hilarious considering it’s partially his fault.

these are the most famous examples:

there are many more examples, both of hugh laurie basically waving a pride flag (quite literally saying “romantic love”) and of robert sean leonard panicking, and then some more of them both being really weird about the whole thing (as in just being strange as people lol).

I feel like I'm genuinely the only iwtv watcher that didn't think the "surprise" that loumand had for daniel was gonna be them turning him or sleeping with him. There's absolutely nothing that makes me think they were gonna turn him, and im only like 10% on board with it maybe being sex but also that doesn't make much sense to me either considering where they were all at mentally at the time. Like am I crazy?? When I was watching it I genuinely thought they were talking about food?? Like human food. They both seem to really like feeding daniel for some reason 😭

I didn’t know if I’d pull this off, but I got the book shop to reserve this till I was paid for some academic freelance work and could purchase it. This is one of a limited, numbered run (150 copies) of the US first edition of Queen of the Damned from Ultramarine Publishing that was signed by both Anne Rice and the artist of the lithograph opposite the title page, Ron Walotsky. It arrived today, and I’m pleased to be able to have this on hand as an oddity for fandom reference (and just in general as a Devil’s Minion devotee and rare-book collecting gremlin).

Remembering when Lestat ate the child (no more than seven-years-old, according to Louis) in IWTV, and it can’t possibly be more clear how much this kid is nothing more than food to him. He is literally salivating on this little boy’s chest the way I lick frosting off of a spoon before eating the cake!

The description of the feeding itself is unbelievably vampire erotic at the same time it can be unsettling to envision because this is a small child:

Lestat is a vampire, he is the perfect predator! 🥰 Absolutely insane and depraved behavior by human standards yeah of course, but for Lestat it’s like devouring a treat from his favorite bakery! His standards are not ours, and it doesn’t make much sense that they would be? Shame he got food poisoning though.

I think TVA gets brought up a lot when we want to dissect Gothic Horror in VC (for good reason, it is a monsterfucking story!), but VC was a Gothic Horror tale from the very start and IWTV laid the foundation in more ways than one.
