Hamefura x Pokémon AU: Pokémon: Fortune Lover - Gameplay

Some Info dump on what the ‘game’ is like in this AU. I’ll later discuss how Bakarina’s actions change things.

Part 2: Changes Due to Katarina’s Actions

The game’s premise is that the main character is accepted into Sorcier’s Academy of Magic and Pokémon due to possessing rare Light Magic despite their commoner status. ‘Maria Campbell’ is the default protagonist but their name, gender, and appearance can be customized.

All Pokémon games introduce some new gimmick or mechanic. The one for this game is Magic Boosting. Trainers who are mages can use their magic to boost their Pokémon’s power. This works best with Pokémon whose Type is compatible with your element. In the main character’s case, Light Magic works with all Types except Dark, Poison, and Ghost and is most compatible with Fairy.

While there, the player can choose one of four storylines connected to each of the Capture Targets: Geordo, Alan, Keith, and Nicol. Now, while we are aware of their conflicts in the original Fortune Lover game, I want to alter them a bit so that they fit in the world of Pokémon and you need to do complex stuff to resolve them. For example:

Alan’s storyline is that he wants to become the Master Champion to prove he is better than Geordo. He sees you (the player) as a rival for that position and often battles you while you are on your journey to compete in the League.

Nicol’s storyline involves battling against Sophia’s bullies to protect her. I want there to be more to it but can’t think of something.

I’m also not sure what to do about Geordo’s and Keith’s storylines.

Anyway, the romantic elements are still present but they have less prominence. Sure, you can still win the Capture Targets over, but that’s not actually the main thing of this game.

Let’s talk about the female rivals. Besides the three you expect (Katarina Claes, Mary Hunt, and Sophia Ascart) there is a fourth one specific to the Keith storyline: Lady Charlotte Vulcan (© @logo-comics).

While each storyline has their own rival, Katarina Claes stands out in that she antagonizes the Main Character in all the storylines, not just Geordo’s and Keith’s. And though you can befriend the other three, Katarina is unrepentantly a villainess, at least on the first half of the game.

The Condemnation scene happens in all storylines with the Target you are pursuing coming to your defense. Unlike the og FL, there is no bad endings where Katarina dies. She is sentenced to exile but somehow escapes before they can go through with it.

Which brings up to the second part of the game.

No matter which storyline you chose, you always come into conflict against Team Dark, who seek to take control over all Pokémon and use them to conquer the world. I haven't decided who their boss is but, I kind of want it to be the king’s recluse brother since the guy is sus in the LNs.

Now completing the main for storylines unlocks the final storyline where you must find out what Team Dark is up to and stop them to save Sorcier. The first even of the second half that sets you on the path to defeat Team Dark is saving Sirius Dieke/Raphael Walt from the Dark Spirit possessing him.

Once you save Raphael, you learn that Marchioness Dieke was a member of Team Dark, so the Ministry asks for you assistance in stopping them. All five Capture Targets volunteer to help you; you can even ask the remaining three female rivals for help.

During the investigation, you discover that the fugitive Katarina Claes has joined Team Dark to take revenge on the Main Character. Other antagonists include Sora and Sarah.

At the end of the game, after you defeat Team Dark, you can end with either one of the five Capture Targets, all of them for the Harem ending, or Friendship ending.

I Know That We Haven't Reach An Ending Yet, But.....

I know usually in other Visual Novels/Manga/Anime we see protagonists go with the popular male lead, but in my opinion I think in this case there should be multiple endings involving who Katarina ends up with who. From all the build ups, it would be a shame not to. The characters relationship with Katarina are cute in their own way (despite the fact my own panromantic heart ships Maria/Katarina, but I still support others though). They all deserve a chance of a possible future.

One of th worst fandom experiences ever imo is liking the rarepair ship in a harem anime. like there's all of these pairings with so many moments together and you choos to ship the harem mc with th side character that's only ever relevant for one or two episodes before getting pushed to th sidelines. girl why are you doing this to yuorself

Yes! I I agree! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Geodro (as far as isekai fiances go, he’s pretty chill), but I’m not a fan of him with Katarina for reasons I already stated in the past, so I won’t repeat myself. Raphiel is my favorite male for Katarina for the reasons you stated, but also because there is a mild case of opposites attract as he’s more studious and talented while Katarina prefers out door activities and works hard for everything.

❀ My thoughts on Geordo from My Next Life As A Villainous.

In my opinion I feel Geordo is too clingy and obsessive with Catarina to be her perfect match… Geordo doesn’t really respect Catarina’s personal space and overwhelms her a lot when he keeps pushing his feelings onto her, especially kissing her without her consent and not knowing for sure if she even feels the same way. Giving many gifts and trying to drag her close isn’t the right way to win a girls heart… Geordo needs to respect Catarina’s personal space and take things a bit slow, you can still remind them how you feel about them but best not to overwhelm them and give them time to consider their feelings, especially not rush into marriage or force them unless they even feel the same way first… Otherwise she will just be miserable in a life of royalty and might end up disliking him from the pressure he put on her, Geordo needs to consider her own happiness rather than his own and not be so selfish.

I feel like Catarinas perfect match should be someone who isn’t so obsessive and rivals with everyone for her affections, maybe for example Raphael? I mean he likes her and doesn’t try to stop anyone from snatching her away, maybe he does with Geordo but he isn’t being obvious about it and actually considers Catarinas feelings and everyone else who likes her for example Nicole. He knew she wouldn’t be happy in a life of royalty and he is even giving her time to consider if she wants that or not before taking anything seriously which is why he suggested on her joining the magic ministry, he truly wants her to be happy and is a good friend.

✩ Plus what they have in common is that they both took the role of a villain but ended up changing into becoming good people so they kinda relate, but that’s just my opinion. 😊

So I watch My next life as a villainess and I loved it. It was a goofy harem that had great characters, but for a while I've been thinking...who did I want the most to be with Katarina Claes. So I have made a list of all the people I want to see with Katerina from worst to best. Now just so you know they’ll be spoilers for the anime and I haven’t read the manga so I don’t know if anything happens to characters to make me change my opinions and also I hear that Katarina gets another love interest with some dude with blue hair, but I don’t know him yet so he’s not on the list. So let’s get on with the list.

At #8, we have Keith Claes. Know I do like Keith as a character. I think he a real cinnamon bun, but I don’t ship him with Katerina because of one important reason. They’re related. They’re related! THEY’RE F**KING RELATED! I know there adopted siblings, BUT IT’S STILL GROSS!!! I hope when Katarina realizes that Keith has feelings for her (Which will take a while because she’s Katerina) she sits him down and tells him that it will never happen because he’s her little brother and that it would be really disgusting if they dated. Then I would hope he moves on from her and they maintain a healthy SIBLING relationship. I also would hope he would find someone who would be really kind to him and treat him right because I do like his character for the most part. I just wish he’d stop liking Katerina for this one reason alone, SHE’S HIS SISTER!!

At #7, we have Geordo Stuart. Look I admit the scene where he said Katerina showed him joy in his dull life was cute, but everything else about his relationship with Katerina is horrible. He’s a creep, he wants to have s*x with her while she’s drunk, love bit her neck at a party and probably a lot more I forgot. People say he’s better in the manga, but even in the manga he still kissed her when she was in a coma. Yeah, he kissed her without her consent! That’s all I have to say on him and I hope that he & Katerina never get together!

At #6, we have Nicol Ascart. I like him as a choice a lot more than the other ones I said before, but there are still one action that I don’t agree with. He was gonna kiss Katerina behind his friend’s back. I know there really isn’t anything between Geordo and Katerina right now, but it’s still screwed up that he would kiss his friend’s fiancé. Besides that one action though he honestly a very sweet guy who wants his sister to be happy and is thankful too Katerina for doing that. He might have been higher on the list if it weren’t for one thing though. He’s boring. Like he almost always has a straight face and it got boring a lot of the time. Over all he does have a good heart so if he and Katerina got together I would be disappointed, but not disgusted like I would feel for the other ones.

At #5, we have Alan Stuart. He is a good choice for Katerina. I like how he laughs about all the ridiculous stuff she does and that she taught him how he has good traits about him and so does his brother, and helped the two have a better brotherly relationship. I do think a problem would arise in their relationship though just because he and Katerina are both dumb@$$, but I think Alan would learn how to stop being like that over time being with her. I think they could be together without at least me being disappointed.

At #4, we have Si..sorry Raphael Walt. He’s my fav out of the boys. He’s a cinnamon bun without being related to Katerina at all and he has a sad backstory that just makes you want to hug him. Also Katerina was the one who got him to stop being all evil/ helped him and she said his real name to him in the first in a while which he really appreciated. If any of the guys had to be together with Katerina, I would want it to be Raphael the most.

At #3, we have Mary Hunt. We’re finally getting to the girls. Mary loves Katerina with all her heart and would do anything for her. She even once told Katerina that the two of them could just break off their engagements and move far away, together. Katerina was also the one who told her that she was a great gardener which was the first compliment Mary got from anyone and she wants to braid/switch dresses with Katerina which I find adorable. Not to mention that Mary was the first one to hug Katerina when she awoke form her coma. Also Mary makes tea for Katerina so that’s a bonus. I hope Mary will be happy with someone and for her sake I hope it’s Katerina.

At #2, we have Maria Campbell. Omg she’s adorable. And Katerina would agree with me. She says it almost every time Maria smiles. Also Maria is a cinnamon bun as well which makes sense she loves to make sweets for the group (Especially Katerina though) and she also has a sad backstory that makes you want to hug her. I also like how Katerina always helps her when the upper class bullies her and she even ate her snacks when they fell on the ground. Also I heard in the manga they were even closer so that’s interesting. I would be very happy if Katerina and Maria got together and they would just live happily on a farm, where Katerina plants vegetables for them and Maria cooks her sweets for dinner.

At #1, we have Sophia Ascart. Like I said about Maria, OMG SHE’S ADORABLE. And again like I said for Maria AND KATERINA WOULD AGREE WITH ME. She told Sophia she thought she was beautiful when everyone else called her a freak. Katerina stood up for her when people bullied her and was Sophia’s first friend besides her brother. She also is a huge weeb along with Katerina and they both read romance novels, but the thing that makes her best for Katerina is that she is the reincarnation of Katerina’s best friend from her previous life. When Katerina died in that life, Sophia or as she was called in her previous life Acchan begged to the heavens when she died to be reincarnated as Katerina’s friend again. You heard me, she begged the universe when she died to be reincarnated as Katerina’s friend again. That’s true love right there. Even if her and Katerina don’t know it. She also was the first to arrive (besides Geordo) to save Katerina from her coma.  These two are OTP and I really hope they become end game.

Ahh that would be so much fun! The title does say "ALL routes" so it would be a fun twist at the end to show multiple romance routes just like the otoge.
