"So there is a commoner conspiracy to take over Sorcier," Katarina joked, "Well, don't let me derail it."

Maria should brush it off completely. It was obviously just a silly joke with little thought put into the matter.

Her mouth moved before she could stop it.

"A what?"

"So, I have this he--- theory..." Katarina said, "Can we use the chalkboard for this?"

Hamefura x Pokémon AU: Pokémon: Fortune Lover - Gameplay

Some Info dump on what the ‘game’ is like in this AU. I’ll later discuss how Bakarina’s actions change things.

Part 2: Changes Due to Katarina’s Actions

The game’s premise is that the main character is accepted into Sorcier’s Academy of Magic and Pokémon due to possessing rare Light Magic despite their commoner status. ‘Maria Campbell’ is the default protagonist but their name, gender, and appearance can be customized.

All Pokémon games introduce some new gimmick or mechanic. The one for this game is Magic Boosting. Trainers who are mages can use their magic to boost their Pokémon’s power. This works best with Pokémon whose Type is compatible with your element. In the main character’s case, Light Magic works with all Types except Dark, Poison, and Ghost and is most compatible with Fairy.

While there, the player can choose one of four storylines connected to each of the Capture Targets: Geordo, Alan, Keith, and Nicol. Now, while we are aware of their conflicts in the original Fortune Lover game, I want to alter them a bit so that they fit in the world of Pokémon and you need to do complex stuff to resolve them. For example:

Alan’s storyline is that he wants to become the Master Champion to prove he is better than Geordo. He sees you (the player) as a rival for that position and often battles you while you are on your journey to compete in the League.

Nicol’s storyline involves battling against Sophia’s bullies to protect her. I want there to be more to it but can’t think of something.

I’m also not sure what to do about Geordo’s and Keith’s storylines.

Anyway, the romantic elements are still present but they have less prominence. Sure, you can still win the Capture Targets over, but that’s not actually the main thing of this game.

Let’s talk about the female rivals. Besides the three you expect (Katarina Claes, Mary Hunt, and Sophia Ascart) there is a fourth one specific to the Keith storyline: Lady Charlotte Vulcan (© @logo-comics).

While each storyline has their own rival, Katarina Claes stands out in that she antagonizes the Main Character in all the storylines, not just Geordo’s and Keith’s. And though you can befriend the other three, Katarina is unrepentantly a villainess, at least on the first half of the game.

The Condemnation scene happens in all storylines with the Target you are pursuing coming to your defense. Unlike the og FL, there is no bad endings where Katarina dies. She is sentenced to exile but somehow escapes before they can go through with it.

Which brings up to the second part of the game.

No matter which storyline you chose, you always come into conflict against Team Dark, who seek to take control over all Pokémon and use them to conquer the world. I haven't decided who their boss is but, I kind of want it to be the king’s recluse brother since the guy is sus in the LNs.

Now completing the main for storylines unlocks the final storyline where you must find out what Team Dark is up to and stop them to save Sorcier. The first even of the second half that sets you on the path to defeat Team Dark is saving Sirius Dieke/Raphael Walt from the Dark Spirit possessing him.

Once you save Raphael, you learn that Marchioness Dieke was a member of Team Dark, so the Ministry asks for you assistance in stopping them. All five Capture Targets volunteer to help you; you can even ask the remaining three female rivals for help.

During the investigation, you discover that the fugitive Katarina Claes has joined Team Dark to take revenge on the Main Character. Other antagonists include Sora and Sarah.

At the end of the game, after you defeat Team Dark, you can end with either one of the five Capture Targets, all of them for the Harem ending, or Friendship ending.

I’m going to assume you mean Klaes as in Katarina? In that case, absolutely!

Since she’d been hanging in the student council room more often, she got to know Sirius more, and soon enough she decided to give herself a reprieve from stressing about the doom ending to ask him out.

Even though he doesn’t fully get it, he doesn’t mind helping Katarina with her crops every now and then. It’s impressive that the crops continually do so well.

Katarina tends to talk a lot when she’s with Sirius, but he likes listening to her and adding in his own comments. They usually have a lot of great conversations on the daily.

With all the work he has to do for the student council, Sirius likes relaxing with Katarina, which means they go on a lot of picnics or walks in the sunlight, just because.

They’re both comfortable with holding hands in public, though they prefer to keep it at that when they’re with others. A kiss or two would be alright as well, so long as they’re both in the mood for it.

Hamefura X Ep1 - Raphael’s Disguise

I haven’t finished watching the first episode of hamefura season 2 yet but I rushed here to tumblr to talk about something that has been bugging me ever since the trailer for this season came out.

It’s not really a big problem, more like a nitpick I wanna make, since this detail is important to me lmao

(minor spoilers ahead btw)

So in the first episode, Rahael uses a magic ring tool from his boss Lana in order to disguise his appearance and blend in the crowd without being caught as the the former Sirius Dieke:

I can't remember right now whether the manga also used the ring or if its just the anime, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a ring there either.

I know obviously changes will be made within adaptions to suit the medium, I'm not really sad by the aesthetics of it more like i'm sad about what that means for Raphael and his boss' relationship

In the light novels (and presumably the manga too), Raphael's disguise is done by his boss. This is a spoiler btw, but Lana's boss is a master of disguises, and is clearly showing off her talents whenever she makes Raphael wear a disguise. It’s a really cute and funny thing that they do and I love it whenever we get insights about the dynamics of the people from the Ministry. 

There's also the small detail of Raphael originally having brown hair in his disguise instead of red with a slight black overlay but I'm okay with this since giving him brown hair might make him too indistinguishable.

Raphael's disguises is something he and his boss bond over (bond, mostly from Lana's POV lmao), and there's even an exclusive JP comic from Manga Volume 5 that makes a joke about it!

(this comic is not in the EN version of Manga Volume 5 for some reason (or maybe I just overlooked it?) so I decided to translate it myself for everyone's convenience :DD)

I'm just kinda sad that it's a ring now, we can still imagine that Lana's boss likes to dress up Raphael herself but it's kinda hard when he already outright states that he uses a ring to switch appearances qwq

This is just a minor nitpick though, and a fun fact for those people who don’t read the manga and light novels^^!

In the months since Katarina had her exile rescinded and had returned to her home, they had become close friends, with Katarina even taking a job in the Ministry's Magic Items Department to work with Maria and ostensibly her fellow Dark Magic wielder Sirius.

It was as they returned to the Claes Manor, where Maria now had a room connected to Katarina's own by a shelf turned hidden doorway between them, that Maria found herself acting on impulse and leaning in to kiss Katarina...

Hamefura x Pokémon AU: Changes Due to Katarina’s Actions

In this post, I’ll be discussing the premise after Katarina regains her past life’s memories, and how her actions changed things.

Sequel to this post explaining the premise of the ‘game’

Most of the plot are somewhat similar to canon, accounting for the more modern setting and the presence of Pokémon. Katarina discovers that she has reincarnated as the villainess of a video game and starts making plans on how to avoid her doom. In this AU, she confides to her Eevee (Biscuit) the truth of the matter and while Biscuit doesn’t completely understand what she’s talking about, he loyally supports her in her plans.

Per @logo-comics suggestion, Pokémon: Fortune Lover is a 2-disc set, and Katarina only completed the first disc, which covers the Academy adventures up until the condemnation scene, before she died. Therefor, she does not know stuff from disc 2 like Katarina joining Team Dark and their plot to use Yveltal for world conquest. Though she did get a spoiler that Katarina Claes dies in Part 2.

Anyway, meeting the other characters goes about the same way with some details changed due to the presence of Pokémon.

Katarina confiees to Biscuit (her Eevee) about what’s happening, and while he doesn’t understand everything he told him, the little Eevee loyally supports her. This causes him to be very wary of the Capture Targets at first before realizing they are not bad.

Biscuit becomes close to Geordo’s Eevee-later-Flareon (Fluffy) who reciprocates. Like her Trainer, Fluffy is somewhat possessive of the one she likes, so she often gets jealous when another female (and sometimes makes) get a little too friendly with him.

Biscuit also helps Katarina farm and often gets into trouble with Millidiana for tracking mud and dirt into the mansion.

Katarina calls out Geordo on treating his Pokémon like tools and for his harsh battle style.

After Keith looks himself in his room for hurting Katarina (it could still be because of the Golem but maybe his Larvitar was responsible), Biscuit destroyed the door. Katarian is severely scolded burt she argues that she didn’t order her Pokémon to destroy the door, he did it by himself.

Katarina decides that besides planting vegetables, she would also farm Berries. Like in canon, she asks for Mary’s help with her plants. This leads to Mary planting Berries as well.

Alan’s introduction is the same but it leads to him challenging Katarina to a Pokémon battle, one she easily wins. Alan keeps coming back to challenge her, leading to Katarina deciding that they play the piano instead of a battle - maybe cause the Pokémon are tired.

Alan still learns that Geordo is not perfect but, instead of using a fake snake, Katarina uses her newly acquired Shiny Ekans.

At the Prince’s tea party, Katarina purposely saves Sophia from the bullies. The billies had been using their Pokémon to threaten Sophia and her Ralts but Katarina and Biscuit scared them off.

Katarina and Sophia still bind over romance novels which also leads to Katarina also becoming friends with Nicol.

Afterwards, many childhood adventures happen and all the kids add new Pokémon to their teams. For example, when they visit the Royal Villa, Katarina and Sophia catch a Shiny Pumpkaboo and a Shiny Phantump respectively.

Timeskip to the Academy, where the students not only learn mundane stuff but also things like battling, potions, and how to fight alongside your Pokémon because it’s not fair to let them do all the work when you have powers too.

I think Geordo’s and Keith’s meetings can similar to canon or maybe a little bit different. The point is, Katarina freaks out about romance flags.

Katarina first meets Maria and Sirius in the Student Council Room. Biscuit is introduced to Maria’s own Eevee Caramel and Fluffy gets jealous.

Katarina’s friendship with Maria develops similarly to canon, only with Katarina’s Pokémon helping to protect Maria.

The school year is filled with more Poké Adventures, some based on events from canon Hamefura while others are original. The characters run into some Team Dark grunts from time to time. They also challenge the Gyms/Arenas and collect Honours in preparation for the Pokémon Tourney.

Keith and Katarina still visit Maria but instead of waiting for her at her house, they save her from some jerks that were harassing her.

The Condemnation Event goes the same, with Katarina being accused of bullying Maria and her friends defending her. Afterwards, Maria and her Pokémon disappear. Sirius places Katarina under the Dark Magic coma, and does the same to Biscuit when the Eevee tries to interfere.

Not one understands why they sleep and why they can’t wake up. The rest of Katarina’s friends are devastated and so are Katarina’s still awake Pokémon.

Katarina dreams of her past life but gets the feeling that something is missing. Acchan’s spirit helps her remember with some help from Biscuit who, though his bond with Katarina, entered her dream from his own.

Katarina awakens, much to her friends and Pokémon’s joy. Biscuit evolves into an Umbreon.

Katarina leads the group to rescue Maria and once successful, they confront Sirius. There is a short battle before Katarina calls out his real name Raphael. Soon after, they learn that Raphael’s Cofragigus is the Dark Mage who killed Raphael’s mother reborn as a Ghost-Type and was controlling Raphael. They fight it and I guess capture it or something.

The Graduation for the Second-Years goes about the same.

Now, I haven’t got a very detailed plan for Part 2 but I do have some ideas.

The Pokémon Tourney happens during the beginning of the year. I’m not sure who places where in the end but everyone who participated did very well.

I’m not sure I want to include the Katarian is kidnapped plot but I do want a part where katarian and Selena must fight Team Dark Grunt Sora so they can help their friends. Selena’s gains confidence during the battle and her timid Eevee evolves into a Sylveon.

Keith does get kidnapped. Sarah is a Team dark scientist/researcher. The Dark Familiar creation is using Dark Magic to syphon his life energy into an Egg to empower the Dark-Type inside. The Egg hatches into oddly-colored Poochyena (Pochi) that imprints on Katarina.

Katarina encounters Sarah again and they battle using Pochi against Sarah’s Dark empowered Hydreigon. We learn that Pochi has some odd abilities thanks to the experiment.

Katarina and Maria eventually discover the Covenants and learn that they are Yveltal’s and Xerneas’s chosen. Katarina freaks out, thinking it means she really is evil but gets reassured she isn’t. I can see her befriending Yveltal and leaning it’s not really malicious, just misunderstood.

So, Team Dark finds out that Katarina is Yveltal’s chosen. They know it’s impossible to recruit her so time for a kidnapping. Cue rescue mission.

I don’t ship Katarina with Sophia or Keith. Though I’m more accepting and ‘comfortable’ with Katarina x Sophia, than Katarina x Keith. 

I just can’t get behind Katarina ending up with her brother. 

As someone who is not biologically related to either of her siblings, the whole “they’re not related” or “he’s adopted” is complete bullshit to me. 

I mean people can ship whoever they want, don’t let some random internet person tell you otherwise, but I just can’t get behind those two.

Yay! I love that you love Luna x Harry! They’re so fascinating together! 

I am super serious though about the second bit though. I want the female characters to feel empowered in their own ways and I want the male characters to feel healthy (in this house, no toxic masculinity will be tolerated). I love writing female bonds and girl friendships and the C-H-G-L group will be so fun to write because they are each so unique and fit each other so well! 

FUN FACT: 

There are slightly more leading female-identifying characters (Chara, Hermione, Luna, Ginny, Narcissa, Katarina, Pomeline) than there are male-identifying leading characters (Harry, Ron, Draco, Lucius, Remus, Sirius).
