Rangers and Death be like

Yo, just imaging this happening at regular at Ranger Gatherinigs. We got everyone sitting around the fire, joking and laughing about times they nearly died, dangerous bootshit missions and terrifying experiences. Basically wondering how the heck they're still alive and having a good laugh out of it. They got trauma-flavoured humor.

Just imagine, the others when Halt, Will, and Gilan are doing this in front of them. Just laughing about near-death. I feel like they'd just stare, mortified at how they can just brush these things off, and bend over double laughing.

Rangers just got onto a whole new level of nuts. Why do I feel like Evanlyn would join in?

I like to think Sandra Lynn is a local celebrity in Elmville.

Not because of her time as an adventurer, oh no, it's her Ranging prowess that garnered the attention of the Elmville press.

It all started when she graduated from the cadet two months early. Probably due to some feat of heroics that I don't want to headcanon right now. She probably held off a bunch of monsters all by herself or something like that. The details are irrellivant, but it got her in the local papers. She freaked out a little when they asked for an interview, afraid that they would dig up her past, but they were solely interested in her achievement.

She appeared off and on during the interviening years. She'd take down some monster that was bothering people, or win some sort of completition, and they'd do a small story on her.

Her popularity really picked up at the end of Freshman Year, when she was credited with saving The Seven from their imprisonment. She tried to convince them that A, The Seven had basically saved themselves by the time she got there, and B, The Bad Kids actually killed Kalvaxus, but when she refused to put local reporters in touch with any of the children involved, she was convinced to give a statement. People admired her for her willingness to rush into potential danger again so soon after she had nearly been killed.

She faded into the background about the Sophmore Year adventure, only giving a statement about the visiting Sylvare and leaving all the popularity to the Bad Kids, who were already famous through Fig and the Cig Figs.

During the Night Yorb Summer, she became a pillar of the rescue effort. The police were too focused on the crime spike to bother with actually helping people, so it became the job of the Solesian Rangers to manage rescue efforts and other natural disaster related things. They handed out food, made sure people were being civil with each other, and were there to resuce people who got stuck in the dark. Sandra Lynn stepped up to run the main rescue efforts while her Base Captain communicated with the Ranging higher ups. Everybody learned how to recognise her face, and learned that Mordred Manor was the place to go when you needed help and it would always be given to you.

People still recognise her from that time, thank her for helping their family members when nobody else would. She's been interviewed about it repeatedly since, but she maintains the stance that she was "just doing her job".

As she starts attending Ranging competitions again, and continues to serve Elmville as a Solesian Ranger, she starts to wonder if the local paper really wants to speak to her about the things she's done, or that the citizens of Elmville just like knowing that she's still active, just in case.

Sometimes, I do wish Pokemon had bad endings if you lost to the villains. Like, it doesn't really need to be anything gruesome or particularly violent or anything, but there's no way characters like Lysandre, Ghetsis, RR Giovanni, and Volo (or Cyrus) would let you go scurry off to a Pokemon Center to try again later after you've grinded up a little more. A lot of these men are world-ending threats here, the stakes are already so high, it just feels like it diminishes the threat they actually pose.

They could show Ghetsis commanding Kyurem to use Blizzard on you and N, and a fade to white before booting you to your last save, an aerial view of the Ruinous Light of the Ultimate Weapon hitting Lumiose, or Volo/Cyrus resetting everything like how they depicted Dialga/Palkia's powers being used in DP/BDSP, those red/green/blue effects in the sky perhaps fading to grey, before cutting to him looming over his new world?

Of note, I've never really played that far into the Rangers games, but I have heard if you fail this one mission on a sinking ship in SoA, that it does give you a bad ending where it implies you met your end there. I also feel like Generations with the Archie and Maxie episodes also feel pretty close to depicting a bad end, with Archie/Maxie (in a vision) both dying to their respective Legendary. Could see something like that happening with Rose and Eternatus too? (With Aether, it could imply we never free Lusamine from her Motherbeast form, even if we make it back to Alola on Nebby, or imply we never got back to Alola from our battle with Ultra Necrozma, and so everything went dark elsewhere as well.)

People of Jinzhou seemed to have forgotten their hospitality and all but used the poor man as their personal errand boy. He could see the weariness Rover's eyes. Before the outlander could scamper away, Jiyan approached him, blocking of his path. "Rover, a minute of your time please." He crossed his arms as he studied the man. - @midnight-ranger-general-jiyan

He huffed softly, trying to gather his breath for a moment before straightening himself out, giving a nervous chuckle, scratching his neck, "What's up? Do you need help with something Jiyan? I can help!" Rover hummed, giving a small smile before lowering his hand away from his neck.

Briefly, he glanced around for a spot to sit, half wanting to just take a second to rest before pushing it aside, "Do you need help... fighting some TD's? Or need me to get something...?" He tried to guess with a nervous chuckle.
