I don't know how many worlds there are. Sasuke says that there are infinite possibilities. Individual crossroads, major battles, or even a natural cataclysm (such as an earthquake), can potentially cause a new world to split off in a different direction. Sometimes it self corrects, and rejoins it's original branch a little while later - but sometimes it does not.

Sasuke can explain it a lot better than I can (I have... according to him... been too much influenced by exposure to popular culture), if you want to know more, I will ask him ---

Sorry... the above all caps rant was written by Kenshin, who stole my brush. I apologize for the interruption. He is now being soothed with vast quantities of sake (alcohol). As you can tell, we have a someone here who likes playing murder too. He usually picks one or two of us to kill every morning (and it's been about a week since I was on the kill list, so I'm probably due within the next couple days).

The wormhole is another thing that Sasuke can explain better, but think of it not as a pit, but as a tunnel that can take you from one point in time to another - even if that other point in time is 450 years in the past.

Anyway, your employer Prince Clavis and his brother Prince Chevalier used a wormhole to end up here, and Sasuke has locked himself in his quarters ever since their visit, doing science. Sasuke, Mai, and myself originally used a wormhole to travel from our country's future, to where we are now, 450 years in our country's past. None of us have ever heard of your country of Rhodolite... to us, it was never part of those 450 years in between our now, and our future, and Sasuke is rather overcome by the possibilities of travel that is not only through time but also transdimensional.

Which brings me to your objects... I am not sure what all four of them are (do you know anyone who can draw them? It might help). But if a couple of them are what I suspect they are, then your employer and his brother must have also visited some time in the future before (or after) they were here, because those particular objects have not yet been invented in this time.

Object # 1 - It is a cell phone. In your Rhodolite, the phone will be useless for its primary purpose - communication - because you do not have the infrastructure. A cell phone is also used for entertainment - depending on what is being stored on it ... it could have games, books, music, and, as you have seen, pictures... you could consider it to be a library that fits in your pocket. You can use it to write down notes and lists. Another thing it could be used for is to record sounds and conversations (and replay them later), or take a pictures (um... imagine an exactly reproduced portrait available in an instant). However, these functions will only work as until the pre-stored power runs out.

I'm not sure what the second object is - is the material soft or hard? Flexible or brittle? Shiny or matte? I thought maybe it was a mirror, but you probably have those in Rhodolite. Do you?

I do not know what the third object you described is either. My first thought is is that it is an "e-cigarette" (think of a cigarette that can be used over and over again without burning away), but that wouldn't account for the noise you heard.

The fourth object sounds like a paint-ball gun. Basically, a gun that fires bullets that are full of paint (instead of metal), that burst open when they hit a person. It's not lethal (except to clothing - it stains) ... but as Sasuke (and Mai) like to quote, 'you could put your eye out' with that thing, so I hope he's the type or person who will be careful with it.

As for the word "partner" ... um... companion? Lover? (I am not sure what the customary term you use in your culture, or whether your country approves of these relationships outside of marriage, so I was trying to be euphemistic). Mai uses the word boyfriend to describe what Kenshin is to her, but Shingen is in his 30s, and he is in no way a "boy" (unless he is being presented with a tray of pastry... at which point, yes, he has the palate of a nine year old. But, ... details). He's not a merchant... although one of the things he does is collect, distribute and interpret information, so technically, he could be described as a "merchant of information." I'm kind of an apprentice to him.

What is your life like in Rhodolite? It sounds a bit chaotic if your employer is constantly making traps for people, and playing murder. If he causes trouble, are you the one who has to fix things?

I am much obliged to you and your friend, Sasuke. Once again, thank you for resolving the disturbances caused by my employer and please, accept my apologies for... him. Never in my wildest dreams did I think his "vacation destination plans" would involve the... parallel universes, was it? Much less so that he'd pick a "convergence" date. (Which, I take, means it was especially unfortunate?)

It all is honestly hard to believe in. However, undeniably, I have never before seen Prince Chevalier play along Prince Clavis' pranks, so... It can only be true. Not to mention all the trinkets Prince Clavis returned with. I can hardly wrap my head around them. Would you mind if I sent you further inquires regarding said items? I am rather worried about what they may be used for.

If you ever found yourself in our universe, please, know that the royal court of Rhodolite is indebted to you and would gladly host you. (My sister thoroughly assured me of the fact.)

Please, please... don't worry about it. Thanks to parallel universes (or as Sasuke calls them, multiverses) I have met... at this point... three alternate versions of myself. The situation with your employer was only about a two on the scale of unusual things.

Ask me about the time I got trapped in a wormhole and lost a year of my life. (Or... maybe ask me but don't tell your employer... he strikes me as someone who would try to do that for the fun of it - and it's really not fun.)

Also, Sasuke asked me to convey his apologies for his employer. I can't say that Lord Kenshin didn't mean to poke holes in your employer's clothing, because he did (and ok, yes, probably meant to poke holes in your employer too, but... details). Sasuke and Mai got him calmed down, and the ground spike and smoke bomb barrier held, so no permanent damage except to the clothes.

Feel free to ask anything you'd like! If I don't know the answer (and I honestly don't know what souvenirs he took back... er, aside from a jar of pickled plums... see above wrt 'poked holes') then I'm sure Sasuke, or Mai, or Shingen (my partner) will.

You can like or dislike fanfiction, but I don't understand people who come to Tumblr to constantly complain about fanfiction...it's like going to someone's house to call their decoration ugly.

It doesn't matter if it's true or not ...why would you do it?

And the complaints are always weird like: "blablabla why do people think in tropes now?" "Why would you want to know what happens in the story, what's even the point of reading it then?"

You want to know why??? Because that's the whole point of the Romance genre!!! The predictability, the promise that no matter what they go through, in the end, there will be a Happy Ending for the protagonists.

I don't read a lot of fanfics but I do read a lot of books and e-books (as in unfortunately I have to pay for those😂). And you know what a lot of authors use to describe their books? Tropes!

An enemies to lovers story with a slow burn, a fake relationship story, a mariage of convinience, a best friends to lovers story etc... And this is coming from published Books.

Maybe it's because the market is saturated and it's the only way to stand out, maybe it makes it easier for their readers to find specific books, I don't know. But I do know that they use tropes to describe their books.

Why sh*t on fanfiction, fanfic readers, fanfic writers when actual published authors do the same??? What is the point exactly ?

And can someone explain to me what's so wrong about using tropes? What's wrong with looking for stuff to read by searching specific tropes? It makes it easier when you're looking for a specific story you want to read and helps you know what you will like or not. Which is great, especially when you're going to pay for the book.

Maybe you don't have a problem with fanfics but with the Romance industry in general? But then why target fanfics as if they were the problem?

SO many people, especially younger people, regularly talk about how they want lobotomies or how women they don't like should be lobotomized. They get tattoos of lobotomy like it's some quirky fun thing and not one of the most horrific tortures someone can endure.

These same people, ESPECIALLY leftists, will look at anyone they disagree with or don't like and say "get institutionalized, loser" or "et therapy" and it's always in a mocking way. it's always in a policing way.

because these people know that mental wards strip everyone of their freedom and their bodily autonomy. they know these places arent for healing--theyre for silencing.

I don’t get antis who ‘fix’ other people’s art. I dont get art fixing that much in its entirety when it comes to drawing over original artwork but in this case I really don’t get it when it’s antis drawing over art because the original artist was a proshipper or at least the anti thinks they are.

like…other than making you feel morally superior what is the point of ‘fixing’ their art? The original art still exists untouched somewhere and the fictional characters in the artwork aren’t gonna jump out and thank you for fixing the art. Sudden weird thought: it's a very very VERY good thing that games like Undertale which play up the save data flag tracking to call the player out on their actions cannot also read demo save data.

When I first found the Undertale demo, I played it like you would any RPG. Most of the time there's no gameplay and story integration when it comes to levels or fighting. Specific boss fights, sure, but not the whole game. It didn't seem all that unusual outside of the bullet curtain mechanics either.

Then I reached Toriel's fight.

Then I reloaded the demo after Flowey taunted me about my actions. I managed to find a way to stop everyone except for Toriel. He taunted me again. Then I worked out the trick to Toriel. He still mocked me. Cue about 6-8 years of replaying the demo every so often to make Flowey eat his words by going EXPless each time.

My first run of the proper game accidentally went Pure Paci complete with the final scene. Imperfect because I didn't see all enemies and get to Spare them but no deaths. As far as the Underground knew, this was my first time and I was as perfectly kind as possible.

The machine that Sans alluded to would display Flowey's mess of a Timeline loop and then a dense cluster of, say, 15 minutes looped in on itself before twisting only a couple times in response to death or quitting for the night.

Imagine if the game knew of the demo save.

But I wonder if Deltarune's save will carry over to the full game when it does eventually come out.

is it even possible to settle it? i feel like there must be some insane cultural difference between me as a western person and chinese people when it comes to adoptive siblings because, i honestly don't see how the biological son of the guy you consider your adoptive father isn't, by extension, your adoptive brother; how would that relationship not be familial? even when you bring in the "sworn brothers" trope as a means of queercoding, which is a concept ive had explained to me more than once – like, okay? i agree that it's true you can't properly translate/localize that, but. how else did you want them to translate it? even if the word brother was never used once in the eng translation, how do you make it so that kaeya and diluc calling the same guy "father" doesn't imply some uncomfortable things if he and diluc are romantically involved..? but then, who knows, maybe i just don't have enough knowledge about how censorship works in china, how they do queercoding over there, how they deal with adopted relationships, whatever. it's fine. different cultural upbringings, no? it's funny when it's the western side of the fandom discussing this, though. because you'll have these extremely white people arguing with you about the intricacies of chinese BL media. as if either of us knows what the hell we're talking about. anyway, none of this matters in the end because most klc shippers just... like the incest. and the day we stop arguing about mistranslations and simply accept that people either 1) see this relationship in a different light due to their cultural background or 2) are a little bit of a freak online is the day i will finally know peace as a kaeya fan
