Solok strikes me as a person who might've been friendly/civil during his earliest time at Starfleet Academy, and tried to reach out to others (Humans and other species), but got his hand slapped for it.

Overtime, trying and failing to reach out and connect can take its' toll on anyone.

I wonder if his behaviour is a reflection of his previous wish for connection to others. Being civil didn't work, but being rude got him a rival! It's a type of connection, a very unheathly one, but one nonetheless.

ANATOMY OF A Q

Aka a Q kin’s horrible theories

As a species, the Q are a semi-omnipotent hive mind. This isn’t because they know everything but more because of how fucking many of them there are. There isn’t one prime Q, but more a collective consciousness between all them. Their main goal as a species is to learn, adapt, and blend into a given group, they’re like cuckoo birds!

Most Q observe species on a purely scientific level, not looking into emotions or deeper consciousness since that’s not the goal. The goal is to mimic these behaviors, not ACTUALLY do them. They instead reflect the most obvious traits of a given species and focus on the big picture.

Which is why our Q is such a jackass.

(For the rest of this I’m gonna use like. Main Q for reference and how he specifically models himself after human behaviors, mostly based off of John de Lancie’s method and backstory for him.)

- Externally, he’s interested in humans so he does his best to reflect humans. Because of this, he sort of developed a deeper interest in the way they connected which means he adapted to that and went deeper

- Proportions tend to be very slightly off on symmetrical parts of the body (different pupil sizes, hands different sizes)

- Extra/missing joints. Like an arm with two elbows or a wrist that doesn’t work. Also sometimes means extra body parts in general. Like if they make organs they may have a few extra lungs

- Hairless! On the body at least

- For Q that tend to bounce between forms they have very poor spatial awareness, tend to run into things or forget their own shape, phantom limbs etc

- The longer they stay in a given form, the more accurate a body becomes.

- Ken doll physique by default, but they can swap at will once they know the correct genitalia (or they can use whatever the fuck they want if they have no clue)

- Infertile (womp womp that’s just how they work)

- No real internal organs. If they make them it’s for show. It’s very hard to kill a Q, mostly because their energy source is split between all Q and that is a lot of energy.

- Cutting one off from its energy source also won’t kill it, but make it burn the energy around it be it electrical, light, carbon, hell even intense psychic energy. Whatever they can get their little hands off of. But given they’re made of quantum space they can kind of do whatever the fuck they want

- Anything internal tends to look incorrect (organs, blood, teeth, bones, etc)

So I started to think about T’Pring and trying to see Amok Time under her POV,

For starters, she clearly didn’t want to be bonded to Spock more than Spock himself. They were obliged to do so as children, and well, maybe at first she might thought that they would get along, but then he left (her)

She made her own life and met Stonn. And then, one day, years later she feels the unwanted bond grew stronger all of a sudden and knows to the time has come.

So she decides that she won’t take any chances. If Spock wins, she has to make sure that he wouldn’t like to see her again, so she chose Kirk over “the logical” choice of Stonn, bc it was actually the most logical thing to do

Headcanon that before Barry ever introduced people (specifically Hal whenever they would hangout) to the world of the Star Trek fandom, he would always speak in Klingon every now and then and NOBODY knew what he was saying. Barry can fluently speak in Klingon ever since middle school, he would always keep around a notebook filled with mini notes he keeps to himself including a Klingon Alphabet Script hoping that one day someone will understand him

In Man of the People (S6E3) when Deanna is possessed and becomes a raging narcissist she tells one of her patients how annoying her whining is, that she doesn't deserve to be on the Enterprise and should leave if she's so bothered by her abusive boss. AFAIK we never see that relationship repaired and we never see that person again and I'll be worried about her for the rest of my life

Omfg so I'm reading the novelizations of Ghostbusters and I finished reading the first movie the other day and I'm now on the second movie and in the book there's a line with Egon that says "he had grown up idolizing two men Albert Einstein and Star Trek's Mr Spock" and well I have a headcanon that Egon is a Trekkie so I guess that's kinda Canon lol

Shiny Writing Object

You know that meme where it shows a writer ignoring their WIP for another shiny idea? GAH, it's so hard sometimes! Ha ha! xD

I currently cannot work much on my story (Book 1) right now, so what is my brain doing? Working on brainstorming Book 2? No. Working on fun scenes for Book 6? No. Book 9? Ha, as if.

Instead, I rewatched the newest Star Trek movies recently and now my Half-Vulcan/Half-Original-Alien OC is taunting me to write something about her.

Not that I could write much right now. My brain is dead from the smoke from the local wildfires. (Asthma is a pain and the smoke messes with my head.)

BUT, she is cruel to me. Ha ha.

Once I can think straight, I might have to spend a day just giving her an adventure so I can clear my head of her for now and get back to my Skyline Spirits stories. Until then, this little gremlin who wants to be logical and rule-following but can have instinctual and uncontrollable urges to eat electronics, will have to play around in my head.
