Ralph e Montague Glover se conheceram por volta de 1930 e Glover o empregou como seu criado, talvez para fornecer um álibi social para dois homens que viviam juntos. O relacionamento durou mais de 50 anos, sobrevivendo à Segunda Guerra Mundial, durante a qual Hall foi convocado para a Força Aérea Real.

O próprio Glover morreu aos 85 anos em 1983, deixando Ralph Hall como seu único herdeiro. Hall morreu quatro anos depois, após sofrer um declínio gradual na saúde. Montague Glover é notável por suas representações de sua parceria com sua amante, um raro exemplo documentado de um relacionamento gay de longo prazo antes da legalização da homossexualidade na Grã-Bretanha na década de 1960.

Ralph Hall morreu aos 73 anos.
