Rajkumari Bai ki Kothi, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India
Built in the 19th century by Raja Gokuldas, the Royal Hotel was a marriage gift to his daughter.
It was later sold to the British who used it as their leisure place.
The hotel has been built in the European style. Since it was exclusively for the Britishers, no Indians were allowed inside. Interestingly, the security guards were also Europeans or Britishers.
Post independence, it was used by state govt.
Currently it is nothing but an abandoned monument. However, private sector has been roped in to reconstruct it for tourism purposes.
The hotel reminds the people of Jabalpur of the city’s glorious past.

My life?
Chan x Reader
(Inspired by @cheeseceli )
Super self indulgent (had a dream about it)
Reader speaks English and Hindi. (She's me)
Genre; Major fluff, curious Chan, whipped Chan.
Summary; When Chan feels like he could indulge in nicknames but not Korean or English, something else...
Would LOVE some feedback, it's my first piece to ever be posted on here. Thank you for reading 🎀
Main masterlist skz masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He loved listening to you speak Hindi/Urdu. He thought it sounded sweet from you. True you did speak Hindi softer than English, you just thought that the language is 'softness' personified.
So when you were on your phone with you mom, he sat down beside you smiling to greet you. You smiled back and kept speaking into the phone now thinking to cut the conversation short as Chan was finally home, at 2am mind you.
"Accha maa abhi rakhti hoon, raat ke 2 baj rahe hai idhar." You say into the phone
(Okay mom I'll hang up now, it's 2 at night here.)
"Haa beta, so jaana and tell Chan I said 'Hi'." She says.
(Okay baby, go to sleep...)
"Haa bol doongi, love you." You says lastly, your finger hovering over the screen to end the call.
(Yes, I'll tell him...)
"Love you mere jigar ka tukda." With a kiss into the speaker she hangs up as you turn to face Chan.
He looked at you with awe and a little preplexed.
"Bed?" You asked getting up and stretching, looking at him for response.
"Bed." He nods taking your hand and leading you to cuddle you to death. (probably)
Next morning was something else...
"I want to call you something in Hindi, like a nickname. " He says from the dining table chair, as you prepare breakfast.
"Is there a special reason?" You ask plating the French toast now.
"No reason, I just want to." He says pulling you into him, smushing his face into your chest. You giggled at him.
"Okay" You replied, moving back to sit down next to him.
(Later)
"What about 'love'?"
"Pyaar."
"Princess?"
"Rajkumari."
"Angel?"
"Pari."
"I don't love any of them." Chan whined, looking up at you from his head placed on your lap. Doe eyes on complete display with utter annoyance glazed over them.
"You don't have to use them Channie, just call me 'baby' or something. I really don't mind." You assure him, not wanting to make him feel worse.
"But you call me 'jagi' sometimes and it makes me feel all tingly. I wanna do the same." He says, a little sad.
"Oh, what did your mom call you last night? Right before she hung up." He says sitting up straight and turning to you.
"Jigar ka tukda?" He nods violently at your words.
"Chan that means 'piece of my liver', it's not very endearing when it's translated but it's the sweetest thing in Hindi. Also, that's more of a parent-child nickname." You say as his expression turned from excited to grossed out to sad, again.
"Do you think we'll find something cute in animals?" He asks clearly determined to find a suitable name to call you.
"Maybe, I don't know." You shrugged.
"Bunny?"
"Khargosh...nope."
"Agreed, pup?"
"I'd rather you don't call me that at all."
"I was just teasing. Butterfly?"
"Titli."
"Why does it sound weird?" He asks as his face scrunches up.
"You're just saying that cause all you hear when I say it is 'Tit'." You giggle pinching his cheek.
"I do." He laughs, a light blush covering his neck.
"Let's pause this topic here, I'm hungry." You say to him pouting.
"Let's go out, I know this dude, that is an a-mazing chef." He gets up from the sofa pulling you up with his hand in yours and walking towards the door.
A few minutes later you were inside the cuties dorm.
"So by 'going out' you meant the dorms?"
"I meant, anywhere but home."
"And by 'a-mazing chef' you meant Minho?"
"Yep." He pops the 'p' at the end, kisses your temple before informing you that he's gonna go annoy Felix in his room.
You sit down beside Seungmin and Jeongin on the sofa as they play Mario Kart, very focused.
They greet with smiles and nods and hums.
You don't say much either as they seemed engrossed and you didn't wanna see them whine about loosing because of you later at lunch.
"Lunch is served." Says Minho standing in the middle of the dorm in an cartoonish voice.
Everybody settled on the dining table, Minho began to describe the meal he had prepared as the maknaes looked impatient to dig in.
Jeongin taking a bite as soon as Minho finished so everyone could start eating, earning an eye roll from Minho making Chan laugh a little.
"Jaan, could you pass the salt."
You pass the salt to him before fully processing what he said and freezed...
"What....did you call me?" You look at him, a little shocked but also curious.
"Jaan, do you like it?" He asks, looking at his plate, a little shy now as the boys were looking at you both in interest.
"Do I like it?? Channie that's like the best nickname anyone could ever use!!" You smile the widest with a blushing face and kiss his cheek while hugging his side, almost falling down.
He hugs you back of course (saving you from face-planting) laughing to himself.
A gagging sound from Seungmin brought you back to reality, as you looked around you saw a smirk from Felix.
"Did you use Google?" The first thing you asked as soon as you were out of the cuties dorm as your curiosity got the best of you.
"I didn't, jaan." Be says glancing at you with a proud smile before looking back to the road.
Everytime he used it, it felt unreal.
Did he even know the meaning. Of course he did. He wouldn't use such a word all the time without knowing the meaning right?
"Do you know what it means?" You ask, wondering how he found out about it if not for Google.
"Yeah, means you're my life." He answers grinning wide, glancing at you again to gauge your expression. You looked just about ready to be a ripe tomato wanting to melt away.
"How do you know it?" You couldn't just leave it, he could've seen it on the internet somewhere, Hindi wasn't exactly an unpopular language.
"Okay fine, I called your mom and she said she didn't have any but your dad always uses the word for her, so I asked her for the meaning." He says parking the car and coming around to open your door for you.
"So now you're besties with maa?" You snicker at him and walk towards your apartment door.
He's right behind you, his hands on your waist walking into the flat with you and kicking the door closed behind him.
"Can't blame me jaan, you're besties with my entire family." He says kissing your cheek and plopping down on the sofa, patting the space next to him.
"Hayee meri jaan, mera to dil aa gaya." You say kissing him and snuggling in his chest.
(My life, you've got my heart)
"I'm too tired to look for the meaning today. Let's sleep." He says kissing the top of your head and leading you to the bedroom.
"Old man needs his sleep." Seungmin's jokes rubbing off on you was not something Chan was pleased about as he mumbled a 'sure old woman' before pulling you into bed, into his chest to waft away into dreamland.
"Jaan, meri jaan." A soft whisper left his lips before kissing your temple and falling into a deep sleep.

Hi,JWB.
I want to know what do you think about Anjali not defending Shyam when Arnav slapped him & threw him out of the house? Why didn't she try to leave the house with Shyam while she left the house on Raksha Bandhan clearly knowing how it would effect Arnav? She tried to kill her child just because no one respects shyam, then how come she stayed in Shantivan, where no one respects her husband ? She was upset to see Arnav celebrate Khushi's birthday, that too in their own room, where she had gone without knocking. Does she expect Arnav to leave khushi just because she doesn't like khushi anymore Like the way she is away from Shyam because Arnav doesn't like Shyam anymore?
She was upset that Arnav-khushi lied to her about Buaji's health, but she herself went behind Arnav to meet Shyam without any regret. She never asked Arnav why he destroyed his life by marrying khushi just to protect her married life. She doesn't say anything to Shyam during the second revelation about Arnav's kidnapping while, all the time saying Arnav is like her first child. Then she slapped shyam because he killed her rajkumari, whom she herself wanted to kill & had no regret about. A lot of her actions indicates that she wants Arnav to be happy as long as she is happy in her own life. If something inconvenience happens in her life, then he expects Arnav to be there for her, leaving all his other responsibilities. Does that not imply she is selfish ?
Thanks.
Hi Anon,
No, Anjali is not selfish. Definitely not in this phase of her life.
Tumblr media
Anjali does not leave because she has nowhere to go.
Her and Shyam's house is under renovation and none of the Raizadas would let her go.
She has no money in her own name, it's most likely Anjali's shares in AR or whatever Arnav has in her name. And Anjali would consider that money, in this circumstance, as Arnav's.
She did not leave the house in previous Rakshabandhan to make a point to Arnav - it's that Arnav literally told her that Shantivan is his house. Not hers. She felt she overstayed her welcome which is why she ran away, feeling lost.
The birthday thing was oddly shot and directed tbh. The thing is every single proof that Khushi had against Shyam was proven false.
Tumblr media
Arnav's words against Shyam would not matter because ultimately it's a situation where both the siblings are supporting their respective spouses.
And remember, Anjali has been in an extremely happy relationship where if there's ever been any doubt, Shyam has cleared it.
Also, no one knows where Shyam is because he was not arrested/taken away by the police. Why? Because there's just no evidence of him having done anything at all.
So the best rationale for this situation is that this is a misunderstanding. Because nothing else makes sense. And Shyam is an expert manipulator. He knows everyone's pulse points.
Also Anjali's whole life shattered. It is not her responsibility to ask people for reasonings - rather it's Arnav, Khushi and the whole family's responsibility to give Anjali a full blown explanation of events to Anjali so she can understand how and why things went the way it did.
And only Shyam is the one talking to her, explaining things. Everyone else is just trying to feed her, give her meds or make her go to sleep.
Anjali was concerned for Khushi and her family, despite all the pain and trauma and misgivings, upon learning Buaji's ill health. And yet again she's proven a fool for believing in Khushi because Bua ji is in perfect health. So why did Khushi lie? There's literally no reason for Khushi to lie about Bua ji's health but she did.
And even Arnav had to have participated in this lie because that would explain why he's away.
Anjali wanted to attempt self harm - just so you know the way she was attempting to abort would've killed/gravely injured Anjali herself.
Tumblr media
She was being suicidal which kinda deals more with fractured mental health. Anjali never asks Arnav to leave Khushi, but she doesn't understand why Arnav and his marriage is more right than Anjali and Shyam's.
Arnav has been married for a few months. They barely know Khushi for a year. It's funny they know they family for less than a year and both the sisters from poorer backgrounds immediately got married into the only two bachelors in the Raizada family. It's public knowledge that Arnav and Khushi do not share the best of a relationship.
Anjali and Shyam have been married for years. Shyam has shouldered many of the emotional responsibilities in the household. He has truly kept everyone happy - including Anjali.
Tumblr media
Shyam has only ever had the warmest of the relationship with Anjali and has apparently not upgraded himself using her wealth - it's very clear that they're living on his means, not hers. Yes, Anjali's clothes and jewelry are a gift from the Raizadas or Anjali's own purchase but you compare Shyam's clothes with the Raizada bros, or even the fact that it's implied they have a humble home.
And what other responsibility does Arnav have if not caring for the only immediate family he has left? He has no parents, his wealth takes care of his extended family, AR is secure as a company and he doesn't have much of a marriage with Khushi (he takes NO responsibility as a husband, he's literally just learning how to be a partner right now).
I know we are guided to dislike Anjali more because she is the issue between Arnav and Khushi getting their happily ever after but again the real conflict here is Khushi hiding the truth and facing the disastrous after effects of her actions and Arnav's inability to hold relationships.
Arnav does not know how to manage a crisis. His relationship with people is far more executed by the people on the other end and his arguments/mistakes are dealt with a sincere sorry and he expects the forgiveness to be given to a certain extent. Literally all of his relationships exist because the other person puts in work. At the barest friction, he pulls back and gets angrier. So he does not know how to navigate crises and tension with the people he loves.
Khushi on the other hand, she believes pure intentions justify everything and hopes that that will mend bonds.
Like literally Shashi forgives her for Payal's marriage debacle because he understood her intentions. Arnav seeks sorry for the barsi thing because she has a similar trauma as well and did not realize she was comforting out of empathy. Nani forgives Khushi because she realizes Khushi meant to preserve the peace of the Raizadas by hiding Shyam's truth. Payal forgives Khushi because she realizes that regardless of the horrible timing, Khushi wanted Akash and Payal to mend their differences.
So you see.... Khushi actually doesn't ever try to rectify her mistake because she feels explaining things is enough. Which, tbh, it never is.
So in this situation, Anjali is entirely blameless.
We loved Khushi when she supported Arnav despite having DNA evidence that Aarav is his son right? We love other show heroines blindly supporting their heroes. Like all the women in Ishqbaaz?
The same applies to Anjali.
Tumblr media
Except, this heroine is in love with the villain.
Best,
Jalebi

Chapter Nine
Read from the beginning
Also on Wattpad
Chapter Eight > < Chapter Ten
The sapphire blue brooch shone against her hair.
Her eyes shone with the kohl lining them.
“Payal, that’s enough rose on my cheeks”
“Nonsense, Rajkumari! You are meeting your warrior china-man after days! You need to look your best.”
Khushi bit her tongue. Payal didn’t need to know her china-man hadn’t let her sleep all night. She definitely didn’t need to know how he made her muffle her screams just before dawn arose.
She blushed helplessly and fervently hoped they didn’t notice.
“ Everyone knows “
Khushi looked up, completely bewildered.
“ About Aravind and Ratna Raizada. Apparently they were legends in our court. They were the voice of the common man. The army flourished under him! Ratna ji ensured that the widows of the soldiers are well provided for, till this day!” Lavanya spoke, while donning on a pair of pearl earrings.
“Really?”
“ Yes! People are very happy that their son is finally here. And Ratna ji might finally be back with them. “
“ The kingdom missed them.” Khushi said softly.
“The brave ones of the Gupta kingdom are never forgotten. They flourish in our hearts forever.” Manorama joined them with a smile.
The girls stood up, surprise clouding their eyes.
“ I am happy today! The man I had so much doubts about, has proved himself to be the diamond of our kingdom.” Here, her eyes settled on Khushi with an all knowing gaze.
Payal excitedly began asking about the mysterious Raizadas.
Khushi looked beyond her chamber’s windows.
How greatly did the Raizadas suffer for this land and its people?
Her heart painfully sank in her chest as she thought of how Arnav’s childhood in the motherland was snatched away.
“Rajkumari , the victory banquet is on its way. We must make an entrance before the Maharaj “
————
Trumpets blared. Colours emerged. Rows of decked up elephants and horses lined the pathway to the banquet hall.
She could hear the roar of laughter from afar. Her pace quickened at the anticipation of seeing Arnav.
Khushi felt different today. She knew all about the art of lovemaking. But when it finally happened, she couldn’t help but be overwhelmed. He is to be blamed, she thought impishly. Who gave him the right to be so…so smug?
“Rajkumari “
She looked up into Payal’s eyes, which were filled with amusement.
“We have arrived “
“ I know “Khushi replied haughtily in an attempt to cover up her day dreaming.
Payal let out a mocking scoff.
Just then, Chandragupta arrived with his ever present genial smile. Without a moment wasted, he ushered them towards their seats.
———-
A regal woman sat up on the marble stage, her wrinkles adorning her twinkling eyes, beside her father.
She had an uneasy feeling that she was being scrutinised by the two. Sipping her glass of sherbet, she averted her eyes to the soldiers. She hadn’t even had a glimpse of him today. Her spirit dropped with such misery , only a lover’s heart could tolerate it .
Payal nudged her sharply.
“ See him?”
She looked in the direction of a tall man, who sat quite awkwardly as he laughed with his fellow soldiers.
“ I am going to marry him”
Khushi spluttered in shock. Keeping her goblet down, she whispered angrily,
“ How could you not tell me you had fallen in love?”
“ What rubbish! I saw him just now”
“ You haven’t even talked to him once and your heart is set on marrying him?”
“ Sometimes you just know Khushi, “ Payal sighed .
“Look at him, he is so shy. I will suit him perfectly!”
Shaking her head, Khushi went back to attending her meal.
“ Rajkumari?” Chandragupta had arrived at their table.
“ Maharaj wishes for your presence “
“Chandragupta ji! “ Payal piped in.
“ Who is that man?”
“Akash. A fine soldier. And please, no scandal before the evening ends, Payal bitiya.” He said with a wink.
“ No promises ! “ she quipped back.
Khushi laughed.
Poor Akash!
She arranged her elaborate lehenga and headed towards the steps leading to the stage.
She had just reached it when she saw the man, whose thoughts had been haunting her. His brown eyes glittered as it skimmed over her. Suddenly she was glad Payal had painstakingly beautified her.
Arnav stood tall and proud beside the woman Khushi saw earlier.
Ratna Raizada
Clutching her skirt, Khushi attempted to keep her nerves at bay.
Folding her hands in a greeting , she smiled nervously at the woman.
“Khushi” her father’s booming voice startled her.
“ This is our dearest Ratna ji I have told you about. Well, no matter how little you know about her. She knows much about you.” Shashidhar laughed.
Confused, Khushi turned towards Arnav, who avoided her eyes and had a curious flush up his neck.
“ I…I don’t understand “
Warm hands clasped her own, as she met Ratna’s kind eyes.
“ Well we have an eternity for that Khushi! You are just as beautiful as Garima! Shashi told me so much about your skills at war, but left out your beauty in his letters “
Khushi smiled. There were so many questions swarming her mind. But for now the moment of meeting someone who talked of her mother, without the usual pity, was too magical to let go.
“ Come on now. The evening must go on” Shashi laughed.
Her father stood looking over the merriment.
The drum gongs . Once, twice, thrice.
A palpable silence filled the air.
“ My brave soldiers and their courageous families who have gathered here. I am so proud and humbled by your feats in the field. The rebellion which began with the death of innocents has ended with the forgiving of prisoners. The people are celebrating their safety and freedom. And it is all owed to you. You, my brave soldiers!”
A deafening cheer followed.
“ I cannot mention our victory while overlooking this young man, who had risked his life to ensure the win was certain. Many of you young ones wouldn’t know the name Aravind Raizada. But he is the one who wrote the rules and lessons you follow by heart. The first man in the Gupta kingdom who organised our armed forces. And a dearest friend of mine.”
Khushi sneaked a glance at Arnav. The solemn look in his eyes and Ratna ji’s wistful smile moved her to tears.
“ I present to you, his son Arnav Raizada! Arnav is trained in the 14 vidyas and 64 kalas from the famed land of China. I am sure his views and skills will bring forth change in our defence strategies.”
Whistles and hooting boomed through the hall.
“And it pleases me beyond measure to announce today the betrothal of my daughter, Rajkumari Khushi Gupta to Arnav Raizada”
Khushi froze. Blood rushed through her ears, as the applause dimmed. Her shocked eyes met Arnav’s. His assuring smile calmed her racing heart.
Before she knew it, her father clasped her and Arnav’s hand together.
She saw the glee on everyone’s face. Payal winked at her. Lavanya smiled. Manorama ji clapped vigorously.
Still numb at the pace of the events, Khushi found her anchor in the long, sturdy fingers which entwined themselves around her own, lending her strength.
————-
Engulfed by the crowd, she smiled at the congratulations, the warm wishes and the love she received. Her mind was still buzzing. And she knew the one who could answer her questions was going to be occupied for hours now.
Engaged. To Arnav.
She pinched herself discreetly as she sat beside a smirking Payal.
“Don’t worry. It is real. No one will steal your warrior from you now.”
“ What just happened, Payal?”
“ Your wish came true, “ she said with a broad grin.
Payal was right. She wanted to be with Arnav for the rest of her life.
And yet, the unknown wasn’t letting her rest her tired heart.
She found herself catching her breath the next moment as Arnav slipped into the seat beside her.
Determined, she leaned sideways, and whispered into his ear,
“ The corridor behind the third door. Five minutes “
————
Strong footsteps echoed in the dingy corridor while the merriment continued on inside.
“Rajkumari “ Arnav called out with an unholy smirk.
“Wha-?”
His arm snaked around her waist before she was slammed against him. Their breaths met, and their lips parted.
“I want to know s-something”
“Ask me”
“You knew about the betrothal?”
“No. My ma was writing to Maharaj. And she did speak about you to me. But I had dismissed it back then. I never wanted to get married. And today both of them sprung it upon us. I am sorry Khushi, they should have-”
“What made you change your mind?” She interrupted.
Arnav looked at her for a moment as if he was thinking about it just now.
“ I realised I could kill any other man, who dares to get close to you, with my bare hands. That’s reason enough, don’t you think?”
He silenced her laughter with a clumsy kiss.
The goblets clinked, the plates chimed and the music strummed as they celebrated the union of lovers of the land.

Pt.4 -> Masterlist
Arjuna and Subhadra departed for Dwarka in the next morning before dawn, while Karna departed for Anga Pradesh. As the new-found brothers had both left together, they exchanged subtle tensed glances between themselves, but they didn't speak any words to each other as they left.
Arjuna was reminded of how they’d left at dawn for Panchal three months ago. That day seemed so far behind him now. Unlike that day of his battle, the weather today was comfortingly chilly…but he was still tensed, lost in the trail of his thoughts about what Karna had told him…
The whole 3-day journey to Dwarka, Subhadra had sensed Arjuna's tension, and had kept him distracted from his thoughts by talking all about Dwarka and her brothers.
"Uh… Excuse me, Rajkumari Subhadra-" Arjuna tried to ask.
But Subhadra interrupted. "Oh please! Quit with the formalities. Just call me Subhadra."
"Oh, I- okay…so Subhadra," He slightly hesitated, "Can you tell me more about…Vasudev Krishna?"
"Oh! Ehehe!" She giggled a little. "I am afraid you have to talk to him yourself to find out more about him. He's not that…explainable in words, and I can't give you any satisfactory answers about him, Rajkumar Arjuna."
Arjuna didn't really understand what she meant, but considering she was the sister of the person he asked about, he knew that she definitely knew him better than most and what she said must have been true, so he didn't ask much.
The three days of journery passed mostly uneventful, but not unpleasant. Infact, Subhadra was really kind to him…but Arjuna being Arjuna, he kind of struggled to talk as he only trusted and talked to people who he knew thoroughly and vice versa.
The next morning, as they drew closer to Dwarka, Arjuna was in awe and surprise; Dwarka was a really very beautiful kingdom, and there was not a doubt about that. Even the outskirts were long, stretching, green, luscious fields, the scenery was beautiful and everything was picturesque…a beautiful river was running through them, and rows of hills on the horizon, soft in the distance. To say he was in awe and captivated was an understatement.
He saw huge the towering gates which guarded the entrance of the city, blocking it from view, when they were slowing down. As they came to a full stop, Subhadra stepped out eagerly. "Wait for a few minutes", she told him, "I have to talk to the guards for a moment."
Arjuna could only nod in response as he gazed around, momentarily forgetting all his worries about his family, and taking in everything as he got off his horse; the sky was a mesmerising blue hue, a few clouds in different shapes here and there. He was so mesmerised in admiring the scenery that he didn't hear someone approach him from behind.
"Hey, you!"
Arjuna turned around and he blinked in confusion…until he took in the former's appearance and his own breath hitched…
This boy, who was older and taller than him by maybe two or three years…he was so attractive that Arjuna would have lied if he said he wasn’t affected…he had bluish-dark skin, dark curly hair, and lotus-shaped eyes (just like Arjuna himself), but the latter's eyes were multihued, and his hair was clearly a lot longer than Arjuna's, whose was only till his shoulders. That boy was taller too, and clearly more charming and handsome and beautiful from all wa– uh anyways…
As the young man neared Arjuna, the latter got a whift of the scent of Parijat flowers from him…and a deep connection, as if their souls were connected, which he couldn't understand, let alone explain.
"Hm", the older boy exclaimed thoughtfully. "I've been watching you. I know who you are."
Arjuna finally broke out of his daze and shook his head a little to break out of his completely, before answering his question. "Ah, what? You do? Really?"
The man nodded, "Yes, really. I know you and I know everything."
Arjuna just blinked and then…a really awkward pause followed. All he was could murmur out was an, "…eh?"
A momentary look of amusement appeared on the man’s face, and the next moment, he burst into a fit of laughter and slapped his palm to his forehead. Arjuna stared and blinked confused and innocently, not knowing how to react.
"Oh my, I was joking and you literally didn't even understand!"
Arjuna tilted his head slightly to the side, confused out of his mind. Had he been rude or something? "Oh well…then I am sorry-"
"You are? You didn't even know I was joking!", cried the man incredulously, before covering his face and laughing helplessly.
"Oh…you were?" The expression of the younger boy's face was so serious and innocent that the older one was laughing even more uncontrollably. When he gathered himself a little somewhat, he came closer to the other one, a mischievous smile on his face.
"You're Pandava Kumar, Arjuna, from Hastinapur, right?" He asked.
"Ah, yes. But how did you know?"
"I told you I know everything."
"I thought you told me you were joking…"
"I am joking now as well!", he said mischievously. "Many people know the kingdom of Hastinapur and its residents. But I was bound to know anyway. Why wouldn’t I know who my sister is travelling with?"
Arjuna took a pause to process that information. Sister…?
That was when he realised that the boy in front of him was dressed in silken robes, immaculate jewellery, that only royalty could wear, and a sleek, elegant crown framed the top of his head, and was decorated with a vibrant and beautiful peacock feather. Arjuna's gaze then flicked to his attractive waist, where a tiny satchel hung from his robes, carrying a golden flute.
"Wait, so…you are–…?" But he got interrupted.
"Bhratashree Krishna! There you are." Subhadra exclaimed as she returned back to Arjuna, and turned her gaze back on the younger male. "Well, I see you finally met with my brother."
"Finally?" Krishna asked, raising a perfectly arched eyebrow in curiosity and playful amusement.
Subhadra giggled a little as she answered with a smile. "Yes, finally. Because, Rajkumar Arjuna here, was asking a lot about you, Bhratashree."
Krishna hid an amused snort of his, as Arjuna averted his subtly embarrassed gaze from Krishna's amused ones; 'Ah, so adorable you are, Parth…' the latter thought, amused and fond. "Well, I have heard a lot about you, Parth."
"You have?" Arjuna asked, blinking in subtle surprise
"Ah! Of course I have! Even Baldau praises you, and the stories of your valour are all around, if I must say. I also heard stories of your time in your Maha Guru Drona's ashram. Your dedication to archery is admirable, if I say so myself, that you took it to the point of mastering it with both hands and even winning sleep because of that, and learning to shoot in the dark for that as well, huh? Truly admirable you are, Arjuna…"
Arjuna, who was composed and reserved with other people outside of his family, blushed in embarrassment (and an unknowing stirring feeling inside of him he didn't know of…). "Ah…you’re embarrassing me, Vasudev–"
"Oh, please! Don't be so formal with me. Call me anything you like!"
Arjuna, composing himself, now blinked again as he put his fingers on his chin and thought for a moment. "…Madhav."
Krishna was pleasantly surprised with (and loved) the new nickname. "Madhav? Why 'Madhav'?"
"Well, you belong to the Madhu Dynasty…it also means the Lord of Fortune, and…you're like Honey…in a way." Arjuna put forth all of his reasons, only adding to Krishna's growing amusement, fondness and pleasure…while Subhadra just watched back and forth between her brother and the one who accompanied her all the way to Dwarka, confused and on how it got all to this.
Arjuna honestly didn't know what was the unknown pull of attraction towards…Krishna, but he wasn’t complaining…it had a gentle feeling, the true feeling of something like…love or what…?
But then Subhadra siddenly shook her head to break out of her confusion and finally spoke up. "I think it's better if we move inside, or do you wish to stay outside and converse the whole day with your…new best friend?"
Krishna chuckled. "Of course, of course, Subhadre! And oh, I'll have to ride with the both of you. My poor legs are tired from walking around the fields all day since sunrise. I don't want to walk all the way back."
Krishna and Subhadra got on the carriage, while Arjuna went with them, on his horse. Krishna was staring at Arjuna the whole way, admiring the way the sun enhanced the younger prince's face as he stared at everyday in awe and wonder, all the while Subhadra was pouting the whole way because she didn't get to talk enough.
Then Arjuna's eyes caught the palace of Dwarka…it was outstanding! It really was a grand structure, nearly twice the size of Hastinapur's. It had been built on a hilltop that overlooked the city from the front, and the seashore from the back. The grounds leading up to the main doors were made up of a garden, with stone steps, beds of flowers and trees all around the perimeter and a lively, rectangular fountain and pool. Behind the palace, he could see a portion of some other buildings, presumably connected to the main structure.
The interior was even more beautiful…Large tapestries hung from the walls, red and purple carpeting with gold designs hid the floor from view, plants and decorations were put up in several places on the floor and the pillars. Tiny lamps hung in majestic chandeliers above. The grand hall had a staircase leading to several hallways, smaller or larger corridors, other rooms, and more staircases leading to different parts of the palace. Arjuna, honestly, found himself overwhelmed by it all, his mind dazed.
Krishna had to hold back someone if his mischievous snickers at the adorable reactions of his Arjuna. After some time, nearly evening, Krishna finally led Arjuna to a guest room. "You can stay here for the time being, Parth. And no, I am not letting you go that soon out of the Dwarka."
Arjuna smiled and nodded in response. He didn't mind, not at all.
"You should rest for today. You travelled a lot, and you must be tired." Krishna spoke. "I have to go and prepare to leave for the day after tomorrow."
"Huh? Where are you going?" Arjuna asked.
"Oh, just somewhere." He replied back vaguely. "Just a matter I have to attend to."
Arjuna understood and nodded back slightly in response. He stayed quiet for a moment as Krishna prepared to go to his own chambers when Arjuna called out to him once more.
"…Madhav."
Krishna paused, 'Oh, how I love hearing that name come out of your lips, my dear…', and then he turned around, looking back at Arjuna.
"Can I possibly come with you, Madhav?"
Krishna's eyes subtly widened, pleasantly surprised. Today was a day he was pleasantly surprised more than he ever was in his lifs. He smiled back at the other in response. "Ah, of course you can. I could use a little help."
Arjuna blinked and then shrugged slightly. "I'll help you however I can."
Krishna's fond look increased at Arjuna. "Great! It's settled then. We both will leave together in the morning of the day after tomorrow. You should rest now, Parth." Krishna shared one of his charming smiles at Arjuna again…who took notice of how Krishna's nickname for him was getting more and more affectionate and natural on the Shyamasundara's tongue, and how it rolled off perfectly…Arjuna slightly flushed but then shook his head, and quickly smiled back at Krishna…who, much to hid fondness and amusement had took notice of all of Arjuna's thoughts and reactions.
That night, Arjuna slept peacefully for the first time in almost a week, momentarily forgetting of his family's worries…
