🪻Home, Finally🪻
AN: I promised girldad Ominis. Let it not be said that I don't deliver <3
Thank you so very much to @butternutt613 @ravenwind-75 and @elisalsaa for helping keep my motivation alive 🩷🩷
xxxxxxx
Sheer curtains fluttered past the shuttered, wooden balcony windows in the cool breeze. The chambers of the princess and prince consort of the Suryan empire were illuminated in a pale silver glow as the moon hung in the ink-black sky. Beyond the palace, the stretch of forest was silent save for the occasional call of a Muntjak deer. Low, deep huffs drifted from the foot of the massive, ornate bed as the princess’s beloved- if not unusual- companion slept. While unconventional, having a fully grown Royal Bengal tiger at her side did act as a useful deterrent to unwanted conversations.
Miradevi’s leg draped over her husband’s hips, her arms firmly wrapped around their baby daughter. Chandra snuffled slightly in her sleep, lost in flitting dreams. The Prince Consort was attuned to every small sound since he was young, the sense exacerbated since the birth of his child. Ominis Surya Lakshmi mumbled something intelligible, the instincts of a father leading him to shift closer to his daughter and wrap a gentle arm around her tiny frame. The little princess fell back into a quiet slumber, shielded by her parent’s embrace.

xxxxxxx
“Shubh Prabhaat, rajkumar.”
Ominis smiled at the familiar voice of their bodyguard. “Good morning to you as well, Ravi.” He greeted back, warmly. The seasons were slipping into summer, the days longer, and the height of the afternoons often driving the prince consort and princess to raid the kitchens for iced lassi and kulfi. Ominis rolled his shoulders, exhaling as a pinch in his arm smoothed out. Supporting his wife and his child had his limbs screaming for mercy by morning.
“My wife and daughter are nowhere to be found, it seems. Would you happen to know where they are?”  Shrugging on an emerald green cotton sherwani embroidered with silver accents- a gift from his in-laws once they learned about his lineage and connection with his House from university- Ominis flicked his wand, and the tip flared to life with the cherry-red pulse of light. He rolled up the sleeves for good measure, exposing muscled forearms.
Living in the sprawling Indian kingdom had been a catalyst for significant change. Gone were the frigid British winters and grey summers. Here, the days were endlessly sun drenched, the palace a constant riot of chatter and vibrant colors, a flurry of activity. His wife’s flirtatious comments and teasing about him having the physique of a panther, meri jaan, had prompted him to flush and feign embarrassment, but he’d been quite pleased about it. There was something to be said about the health offered by not living his life in a constant state of tension courtesy of his parents.
“Rajkumari Miradevi is with the rest of the family in the darbar, my prince.” Ravi offered, bowing. While the kingdom had been…unsure about a foreigner sitting on the throne beside their beloved princess, he’d be ther first to say that the tall, pale Britisher had swept in with a determination to prove himself, and was doing a damn good job at it so far. Besides, he made Miradevi happy. That, in and of itself, scored a plethora of brownie points with the people. “I was requested to escort you to them.” The Prince Consort smiled as the bedroom doors opened for him. The guards, standing sentinel, fell into a practiced salute. “By all means.”
xxxxxxx
The palace was massive, a marvel of gilded pillars and high, ornate archways, opulent and stately rooms- and it had taken him a significant amount of time to map it out. But everyone from the King and Queen to the passing stableboys had helped him along the way, and now the place was well and truly home, known to him like the back of his hand.
“His Royal Highness, Prince Consort Ominis Surya Lakshmi.”
Soaring doors that nearly reached the ceiling were dragged open, opening up into the sprawling bhavan. A long table stood in the center, the rest of the chamber gilded gold. Statues and bookshelves lined the painted walls as Ominis walked down the center of the room. He raised his fist over his heart and bowed before the Suryan royal family- the salute of the empire. “Your Highness.”
King Ashok Lakshmi didn’t heed Ominis’ formalities, sweeping his son-in-law into a hug, while Queen Durgavati began her obligatory fussing. She adjusted the crown settled on his soft blonde hair, brushed away imaginary wrinkles on his sherwani.
“There we go. You look very handsome, Ominis.” Queen Durgavati stepped aside and smiled, and Ominis’s ears heated as he heard the princes snickering. It was quickly silenced by what he assumed was one of her classic, quick glares. The princes may have been well into their thirties, but a look from the maharani of the realm did enough to keep them in line.
“Thank you, Mata,” Ominis said quietly. “Where is-“
“That rascal daughter of mine?” Maharani Durgavati shook her head, and Ominis bit back a laugh at the fond exasperation in her tone. “Out in the fields. She’s teaching my poor grandchild to climb mango trees or some such thing, I expect. I’ll have two little monkeys running amok, and my hands full.”
Ominis sighed, making a show of mock disappointment, though his heart soared. His wife never failed to make him appreciate life just a little bit more. “I should go and ensure that she does not get carried away, then?”
The queen scoffed softly, but he heard the genuine fondness in her voice. “Please. You do not fool me in the slightest, Beta. Go find her, and just make sure she does not come back with mango stains all over her clothes.”
xxxxxxxxx
Mira relished in the peal of giggles from her daughter as she spun around, the anklets on her bare feet jingling. The dirt was warm, the humidity of what promised to be a sweltering day hanging on the horizon. Ochre sunlight caught her midnight-black hair and her rich brown skin, burnishing her gold. The princess’s lehenga flared as she spun her giggling daughter in a circle, a laugh bubbling out of her in response. The sprawling fields and forests of the palace grounds stretched on, the swaying grasses brushing her calves, the trees providing welcome shade.
Chandra shook a little fist, squealing with joy at her mother’s shenanigans. Mira brushed her thumb over her daughter’s fuzzy black hair, grinning. “You find that funny, little Myna? Very amusing, hm?”
Mira wasn’t exactly expecting a response from her daughter but was interrupted by the pounding of hooves on earth. The princess turned as Chandra squirmed slightly in her grip, both mother and daughter instantly recognizing the man atop his Marwari mare. Huffing, the horse reared to a stop, digging a hoof into the ground.
Ominis slid neatly from the saddle, striding over to his wife with an easy grin quirking his lips as he tugged leather riding gloves off with his teeth.
“Your highness.” Mira dipped into a bow, grinning. Chandra babbled happily in her arms, reaching for her father. “What brings you out here, my prince?”
Ominis tried not to let the way she spoke the title, with that honey-sweet voice of hers, get to him. The tease was obvious in her lovely, beautiful voice. He failed miserably.
“Keeping tabs on my wayward wife and our little bundle of terror.” He placed two fingers beneath her chin, tilting her face up slightly. “What are you doing out here, Mira?”
“…teaching the youth our culture?”
“Mm.” Reaching up to her hair, running gentle fingers over her thick tresses, he found telltale signs of what he was searching for. Ominis pulled a brittle leaf from his wife’s hair, trying hard not to smile. “And our culture is… climbing trees like a wild little woodland creature?”
“I think we’re in trouble, Chandra,” Mira said in a theatrical whisper to her happily unaware daughter. “Shall we distract him?”
“You’ll do no such thing.” Ominis knew his stern tone dissolved like sugar in the presence of his wife, but it was worth a shot anyway. His daughter chose that moment to give a little coo that melted his heart. Pure adoration tightened his chest as he reached out, and Mira gently passed his baby girl over to him. Ominis ducked his head, allowing Chandra to run her tiny hand over his nose, babbling incoherently. “Is that right, precious?” He murmured softly, lashes fluttering shut. “What an interesting day you’ve had.”
Spurred on by her father’s interest, Chandra continued her incomprehensible chatter, as Ominis nodded along, serious. “Mmhm. I see- I completely agree. The trade agreements the Bulgarians are pushing for are ridiculous. Very true, darling.”
Miradevi laughed, thoroughly entertained by her husband’s antics. The sky stretched endlessly blue above them, the low hills and forests sweeping out, dotted by the empire’s provinces and towns. The low, sprawling homes and villages were decorated in a vibrant burst of color for the upcoming festival of Diwali, the wizarding and muggle populations celebrating together as they often did. Even the centaurs living deep in the forests often came out to join in, watching the stars on the night of the festival.
“It’s going to be too warm for her to be outside, soon.” Mira pointed out, gently interrupting Ominis’ rant on diplomatic relations with the Germans. “Shall we head back to the palace, meri jaan?”
“Oh- yes, of course.” Ominis gestured for her to come closer, tugging Mira close to him with his free arm, balancing Chandra with his other. “Let me take you back, my love.” He ducked his head to pepper kisses along her jawline, something deep inside him purring in satisfaction as she leaned closer and nodded demurely- the perfect picture of submission.
He should have known better.
xxxxxxx
“I meant that I’d be holding the reins, Mira!”
The princess only laughed and flattened her body against the mare’s saddle, the Marwari’s hooves flying over the dirt, kicking up dust and clumps of grass. Her husband was sitting behind her, their daughter gripped firmly in his arms as she giggled in delight. Magic held his thighs stable against the horse’s flank, enabling him to keep his baby daughter secure in his arms. The jasmine and rose scent that accompanied his wife hung in the air as the wind rushed past them, Mira’s exhilirated laugh as she rode his horse with a practiced ease and grace had him falling in love with her all over again, and he gave up, merely leaned close against her back as Chandra wound her tiny arms around his neck.
xxxxxx
Rani Durgavati Surya Lakshmi folded her arms, running her gaze over her daughter and son-in-law, trying very hard not to crack a smile. The queen exuded regal grace, much the opposite of her daughter with windswept hair and slightly crumpled, muddied clothes. Her son-in-law was hardly any better, but he had the decency to look slightly chagrined, at least.
“And here I thought having a child of your own would make you a little less like a village scamp. Clearly, that is not the case. One would never look at you and see a twenty-seven-year-old mother and princess. Are those leaves in your hair?” “Amma, have I ever told you how pretty you are?” Miradevi grinned, quickly throwing her arms around her mother. “And how very much I love you?”
“Away with you.” The Queen mother fought a smile but pressed a kiss to Mira’s head anyway, leaf-ridden or not. In a strange, fleeting pang of memory, Ominis thought of his own mother.
She’d never treated him in such a manner, with that sort of gentleness. The House of Gaunt had never known gentle. All she’d done was throw soirees and grand events as Ominis endured atrocities at the hands of his own father.
The queen’s next words pulled him from the dark path his thoughts were spiraling down.
“Your brothers need assistance drafting the new legislation on goblin artisanal trade. Do help them with it, won’t you? After a bath?”
“Yes, amma.”
“Yes, your majesty.”
Ominis turned to leave with his wife after giving the queen a low bow but was abruptly stopped by a gentle grip on his wrist. “Your highness-?” He began, confused, but his words were cut off as Queen Durgavati pulled him into a crushing hug, kissing him on his soft hair. Anything he was going to say died in his throat, only to be replaced by a strange, tight lump.
“You are my son-in-law, Ominis. Not a stranger. Now go on; the legislation is quite important.”
Ominis nodded, that same strange swell of emotion threatening a burn of tears in his eyes. “Yes, mata.” He took a deep breath, a smile breaking out on his lips as Mira laced her fingers with his. He took her fingers, kissing them gently. “Shall we, princess? Duty calls.”
“Of course, pyaare.”
Chandra squirmed in his arms, clearly upset at being left out, and Ominis laughed, nuzzling against her cheek. “Forgive me. Are you joining us as well, Chandra?”
His daughter’s answering babble could be taken as nothing but assent, and Ominis nodded. “Well, she’s quite the little politician already.”
Mira’s answering laugh hung in the warm summer air. In a single, fleeting moment, Ominis knew, for certain, that he was home amongst the towering domes and opulent rooms of the palace. Home amongst the rolling hills and forests, amongst his people, his family, his wife and daughter. Squaring his shoulders and readjusting his grip on Chandra, Ominis fell into step at his wife’s side- exactly where he belonged.

Rajkumari Bai ki Kothi, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India
Built in the 19th century by Raja Gokuldas, the Royal Hotel was a marriage gift to his daughter.
It was later sold to the British who used it as their leisure place.
The hotel has been built in the European style. Since it was exclusively for the Britishers, no Indians were allowed inside. Interestingly, the security guards were also Europeans or Britishers.
Post independence, it was used by state govt.
Currently it is nothing but an abandoned monument. However, private sector has been roped in to reconstruct it for tourism purposes.
The hotel reminds the people of Jabalpur of the city’s glorious past.

My life?
Chan x Reader
(Inspired by @cheeseceli )
Super self indulgent (had a dream about it)
Reader speaks English and Hindi. (She's me)
Genre; Major fluff, curious Chan, whipped Chan.
Summary; When Chan feels like he could indulge in nicknames but not Korean or English, something else...
Would LOVE some feedback, it's my first piece to ever be posted on here. Thank you for reading 🎀
Main masterlist skz masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He loved listening to you speak Hindi/Urdu. He thought it sounded sweet from you. True you did speak Hindi softer than English, you just thought that the language is 'softness' personified.
So when you were on your phone with you mom, he sat down beside you smiling to greet you. You smiled back and kept speaking into the phone now thinking to cut the conversation short as Chan was finally home, at 2am mind you.
"Accha maa abhi rakhti hoon, raat ke 2 baj rahe hai idhar." You say into the phone
(Okay mom I'll hang up now, it's 2 at night here.)
"Haa beta, so jaana and tell Chan I said 'Hi'." She says.
(Okay baby, go to sleep...)
"Haa bol doongi, love you." You says lastly, your finger hovering over the screen to end the call.
(Yes, I'll tell him...)
"Love you mere jigar ka tukda." With a kiss into the speaker she hangs up as you turn to face Chan.
He looked at you with awe and a little preplexed.
"Bed?" You asked getting up and stretching, looking at him for response.
"Bed." He nods taking your hand and leading you to cuddle you to death. (probably)
Next morning was something else...
"I want to call you something in Hindi, like a nickname. " He says from the dining table chair, as you prepare breakfast.
"Is there a special reason?" You ask plating the French toast now.
"No reason, I just want to." He says pulling you into him, smushing his face into your chest. You giggled at him.
"Okay" You replied, moving back to sit down next to him.
(Later)
"What about 'love'?"
"Pyaar."
"Princess?"
"Rajkumari."
"Angel?"
"Pari."
"I don't love any of them." Chan whined, looking up at you from his head placed on your lap. Doe eyes on complete display with utter annoyance glazed over them.
"You don't have to use them Channie, just call me 'baby' or something. I really don't mind." You assure him, not wanting to make him feel worse.
"But you call me 'jagi' sometimes and it makes me feel all tingly. I wanna do the same." He says, a little sad.
"Oh, what did your mom call you last night? Right before she hung up." He says sitting up straight and turning to you.
"Jigar ka tukda?" He nods violently at your words.
"Chan that means 'piece of my liver', it's not very endearing when it's translated but it's the sweetest thing in Hindi. Also, that's more of a parent-child nickname." You say as his expression turned from excited to grossed out to sad, again.
"Do you think we'll find something cute in animals?" He asks clearly determined to find a suitable name to call you.
"Maybe, I don't know." You shrugged.
"Bunny?"
"Khargosh...nope."
"Agreed, pup?"
"I'd rather you don't call me that at all."
"I was just teasing. Butterfly?"
"Titli."
"Why does it sound weird?" He asks as his face scrunches up.
"You're just saying that cause all you hear when I say it is 'Tit'." You giggle pinching his cheek.
"I do." He laughs, a light blush covering his neck.
"Let's pause this topic here, I'm hungry." You say to him pouting.
"Let's go out, I know this dude, that is an a-mazing chef." He gets up from the sofa pulling you up with his hand in yours and walking towards the door.
A few minutes later you were inside the cuties dorm.
"So by 'going out' you meant the dorms?"
"I meant, anywhere but home."
"And by 'a-mazing chef' you meant Minho?"
"Yep." He pops the 'p' at the end, kisses your temple before informing you that he's gonna go annoy Felix in his room.
You sit down beside Seungmin and Jeongin on the sofa as they play Mario Kart, very focused.
They greet with smiles and nods and hums.
You don't say much either as they seemed engrossed and you didn't wanna see them whine about loosing because of you later at lunch.
"Lunch is served." Says Minho standing in the middle of the dorm in an cartoonish voice.
Everybody settled on the dining table, Minho began to describe the meal he had prepared as the maknaes looked impatient to dig in.
Jeongin taking a bite as soon as Minho finished so everyone could start eating, earning an eye roll from Minho making Chan laugh a little.
"Jaan, could you pass the salt."
You pass the salt to him before fully processing what he said and freezed...
"What....did you call me?" You look at him, a little shocked but also curious.
"Jaan, do you like it?" He asks, looking at his plate, a little shy now as the boys were looking at you both in interest.
"Do I like it?? Channie that's like the best nickname anyone could ever use!!" You smile the widest with a blushing face and kiss his cheek while hugging his side, almost falling down.
He hugs you back of course (saving you from face-planting) laughing to himself.
A gagging sound from Seungmin brought you back to reality, as you looked around you saw a smirk from Felix.
"Did you use Google?" The first thing you asked as soon as you were out of the cuties dorm as your curiosity got the best of you.
"I didn't, jaan." Be says glancing at you with a proud smile before looking back to the road.
Everytime he used it, it felt unreal.
Did he even know the meaning. Of course he did. He wouldn't use such a word all the time without knowing the meaning right?
"Do you know what it means?" You ask, wondering how he found out about it if not for Google.
"Yeah, means you're my life." He answers grinning wide, glancing at you again to gauge your expression. You looked just about ready to be a ripe tomato wanting to melt away.
"How do you know it?" You couldn't just leave it, he could've seen it on the internet somewhere, Hindi wasn't exactly an unpopular language.
"Okay fine, I called your mom and she said she didn't have any but your dad always uses the word for her, so I asked her for the meaning." He says parking the car and coming around to open your door for you.
"So now you're besties with maa?" You snicker at him and walk towards your apartment door.
He's right behind you, his hands on your waist walking into the flat with you and kicking the door closed behind him.
"Can't blame me jaan, you're besties with my entire family." He says kissing your cheek and plopping down on the sofa, patting the space next to him.
"Hayee meri jaan, mera to dil aa gaya." You say kissing him and snuggling in his chest.
(My life, you've got my heart)
"I'm too tired to look for the meaning today. Let's sleep." He says kissing the top of your head and leading you to the bedroom.
"Old man needs his sleep." Seungmin's jokes rubbing off on you was not something Chan was pleased about as he mumbled a 'sure old woman' before pulling you into bed, into his chest to waft away into dreamland.
"Jaan, meri jaan." A soft whisper left his lips before kissing your temple and falling into a deep sleep.

Hi,JWB.
I want to know what do you think about Anjali not defending Shyam when Arnav slapped him & threw him out of the house? Why didn't she try to leave the house with Shyam while she left the house on Raksha Bandhan clearly knowing how it would effect Arnav? She tried to kill her child just because no one respects shyam, then how come she stayed in Shantivan, where no one respects her husband ? She was upset to see Arnav celebrate Khushi's birthday, that too in their own room, where she had gone without knocking. Does she expect Arnav to leave khushi just because she doesn't like khushi anymore Like the way she is away from Shyam because Arnav doesn't like Shyam anymore?
She was upset that Arnav-khushi lied to her about Buaji's health, but she herself went behind Arnav to meet Shyam without any regret. She never asked Arnav why he destroyed his life by marrying khushi just to protect her married life. She doesn't say anything to Shyam during the second revelation about Arnav's kidnapping while, all the time saying Arnav is like her first child. Then she slapped shyam because he killed her rajkumari, whom she herself wanted to kill & had no regret about. A lot of her actions indicates that she wants Arnav to be happy as long as she is happy in her own life. If something inconvenience happens in her life, then he expects Arnav to be there for her, leaving all his other responsibilities. Does that not imply she is selfish ?
Thanks.
Hi Anon,
No, Anjali is not selfish. Definitely not in this phase of her life.
Tumblr media
Anjali does not leave because she has nowhere to go.
Her and Shyam's house is under renovation and none of the Raizadas would let her go.
She has no money in her own name, it's most likely Anjali's shares in AR or whatever Arnav has in her name. And Anjali would consider that money, in this circumstance, as Arnav's.
She did not leave the house in previous Rakshabandhan to make a point to Arnav - it's that Arnav literally told her that Shantivan is his house. Not hers. She felt she overstayed her welcome which is why she ran away, feeling lost.
The birthday thing was oddly shot and directed tbh. The thing is every single proof that Khushi had against Shyam was proven false.
Tumblr media
Arnav's words against Shyam would not matter because ultimately it's a situation where both the siblings are supporting their respective spouses.
And remember, Anjali has been in an extremely happy relationship where if there's ever been any doubt, Shyam has cleared it.
Also, no one knows where Shyam is because he was not arrested/taken away by the police. Why? Because there's just no evidence of him having done anything at all.
So the best rationale for this situation is that this is a misunderstanding. Because nothing else makes sense. And Shyam is an expert manipulator. He knows everyone's pulse points.
Also Anjali's whole life shattered. It is not her responsibility to ask people for reasonings - rather it's Arnav, Khushi and the whole family's responsibility to give Anjali a full blown explanation of events to Anjali so she can understand how and why things went the way it did.
And only Shyam is the one talking to her, explaining things. Everyone else is just trying to feed her, give her meds or make her go to sleep.
Anjali was concerned for Khushi and her family, despite all the pain and trauma and misgivings, upon learning Buaji's ill health. And yet again she's proven a fool for believing in Khushi because Bua ji is in perfect health. So why did Khushi lie? There's literally no reason for Khushi to lie about Bua ji's health but she did.
And even Arnav had to have participated in this lie because that would explain why he's away.
Anjali wanted to attempt self harm - just so you know the way she was attempting to abort would've killed/gravely injured Anjali herself.
Tumblr media
She was being suicidal which kinda deals more with fractured mental health. Anjali never asks Arnav to leave Khushi, but she doesn't understand why Arnav and his marriage is more right than Anjali and Shyam's.
Arnav has been married for a few months. They barely know Khushi for a year. It's funny they know they family for less than a year and both the sisters from poorer backgrounds immediately got married into the only two bachelors in the Raizada family. It's public knowledge that Arnav and Khushi do not share the best of a relationship.
Anjali and Shyam have been married for years. Shyam has shouldered many of the emotional responsibilities in the household. He has truly kept everyone happy - including Anjali.
Tumblr media
Shyam has only ever had the warmest of the relationship with Anjali and has apparently not upgraded himself using her wealth - it's very clear that they're living on his means, not hers. Yes, Anjali's clothes and jewelry are a gift from the Raizadas or Anjali's own purchase but you compare Shyam's clothes with the Raizada bros, or even the fact that it's implied they have a humble home.
And what other responsibility does Arnav have if not caring for the only immediate family he has left? He has no parents, his wealth takes care of his extended family, AR is secure as a company and he doesn't have much of a marriage with Khushi (he takes NO responsibility as a husband, he's literally just learning how to be a partner right now).
I know we are guided to dislike Anjali more because she is the issue between Arnav and Khushi getting their happily ever after but again the real conflict here is Khushi hiding the truth and facing the disastrous after effects of her actions and Arnav's inability to hold relationships.
Arnav does not know how to manage a crisis. His relationship with people is far more executed by the people on the other end and his arguments/mistakes are dealt with a sincere sorry and he expects the forgiveness to be given to a certain extent. Literally all of his relationships exist because the other person puts in work. At the barest friction, he pulls back and gets angrier. So he does not know how to navigate crises and tension with the people he loves.
Khushi on the other hand, she believes pure intentions justify everything and hopes that that will mend bonds.
Like literally Shashi forgives her for Payal's marriage debacle because he understood her intentions. Arnav seeks sorry for the barsi thing because she has a similar trauma as well and did not realize she was comforting out of empathy. Nani forgives Khushi because she realizes Khushi meant to preserve the peace of the Raizadas by hiding Shyam's truth. Payal forgives Khushi because she realizes that regardless of the horrible timing, Khushi wanted Akash and Payal to mend their differences.
So you see.... Khushi actually doesn't ever try to rectify her mistake because she feels explaining things is enough. Which, tbh, it never is.
So in this situation, Anjali is entirely blameless.
We loved Khushi when she supported Arnav despite having DNA evidence that Aarav is his son right? We love other show heroines blindly supporting their heroes. Like all the women in Ishqbaaz?
The same applies to Anjali.
Tumblr media
Except, this heroine is in love with the villain.
Best,
Jalebi
