हाँ, जो मैं टोकूँ, कहा ना मेरा माने

you cut off women from dancing, because girls of good characters do not indulge in such lewd activities. if they become one with their swaying hips, how will you hold down their bodies and spirits?
you cut off women from reading, because books have so many vile ideas about freedom and humanity. hence, they may begin to spin ideas from the yarn of knowledge, jeopardising the conditional safety of your cage.
you cut off women from adorning themselves lovingly, because lest they begin to like the shape of their noses or the curves of their waist; they will stop caring about other people and conforming to your standards of beauty.
you cut off women from expressing because girls from good families do not raise their voices. you say the devil resides in their voice boxes and if they don’t watch their tongues, they may taint the name of their families.
you cut off women from being, so the only thing they’re left with is fear and misery. grinding that terror on the stone of fate like grains, they toil away their lives.
then you call them many many rotten things if any of them refuses to believe this. still, if they don’t comply, force is applied repeatedly.
they become a skeleton of their potential self, grieving in secrecy; because privacy is a luxury. what if in the empty silence they finally start thinking & questioning?
yet, you wonder why they’re exhausted and angry, fighting silent wars within and outside.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's something oddly satisfy and cool about movie posters of old bollywood movies, The posters not only gave us a slite peek into film but also represented the art of artists and those painters who use to paint these posters by hand!

female friendships are so precious and beautiful. sisterhood is so inherent in women. there is a life force where many women are sitting together and conversing. their giggles reverberates through the deepest chambers of the even the coldest of hearts & softens them. when they take care of each other together from oiling their hair turn by turn by to putting henna on each other’s palms, everything is a sacred offering to some source unseen; but only felt. they spend hours talking about things unfathomable from the basis of love to the state of the world, the soul, beauty, last, present & future & many other philosophies. because when they’re sitting in a room together that’s where they’re easily allowed to ‘be’. here, they aren’t someone being smothered by alotted identities. they aren’t just someone’s sister or daughter or even lover, but just humans trying to make the most out of their freedom to breathe.

men who are irrevocably & hopelessly in love with their beloved are so endearing. they who tend to their beloved with such gentle affection, walking the fine line between adherence & withdrawing, ever so graciously.
they who understand the intricacies of the multi faceted feminine & honour it diligently.
when living in a world that dances on the symphonies composed by the rigid & greedy; they who choose to denounce such flimsy hierarchies embrace all worldly & other worldly victories.

turning 25 is so strange. i feel like i’ve lived so much yet everything seems to have just started. i remember being five and frolicking through my dada’s khet, climbing trees and playing lukka chuppi. my dadi would apply surma on my waterline & mehendi on my palms while humming folk tunes. 10 was even more fun as we moved away from my ancestral home into a bigger house of our own. i would spend my days watching senseless television with my sisters getting to know them even more closely. out on our terrace we wish upon shooting stars like kajol from some movie. i’m glad i didn’t know this then, that after 12 a girl is no longer a girl but an entity. as an incomplete being, she travels towards a different reality. but it’s not until a decade passes that she becomes whole and gains that kind of agency. by 15 things had changed drastically. the world became very bleak and constantly changing. my girlhood was slipping from my fingers and everyone was teaching me to be more careful. a rage had started to brew in the pit of my stomach. with that kind of fury, i could’ve burnt villages and cities. 20 was tormenting. i was almost a woman but still a girl. love and hatred claimed me equally as i swayed from one side to the other constantly. a lot of lessons and choices were thrown in my face until i dealt with them diligently. but 25 has arrived in all its glory. liberation permeates through every part of my being. finally, the colors have returned, bringing along an array of fragrances and melodies. i realize now that everything that happened was just to bring me to this moment. oh, how glad I am that it did!
