So. Les talk about a book I'm writing. Anyone seen the Tumblr post about a hypothetical book set around a protagonist with braces in the apocalypse who tries to find an orthodontist and in the process accidentally saves the world.

I'm writing this, it's called Brace For It, except it's not completely about braces, and they don't save the world, they kind of ruin it more. In a way. The main character is called Spencer, and so far, it's the day they get their braces off, and they're having breakfast with their parents and their sister, Yasmin, upstairs. There's a knock at the shop door (their parents run a shop and they live in mixed housing, so their home is on top of the shop) their mother goes to open the door, and suddenly, there's an earthquake and the earth splits open in the middle of Spencer's house. They fall into the crack, and they wake up in this place called Subterra, and encounter these shadow monsters called the Mortumbra, who are hunting Spencer down and trying to kill them. They find this 'Paradise Garden' next, called the 'Garden of Nimhe', and in it, they find another person who fell down, called Robin. She knows the truth about the garden that Spencer doesn't know - that the garden is protected by these huge snake creatures that kill whoever tries to enter it. They manage to escape, and start talking to Robin and the two of them start learning about each other's lives. She tells them that growing up, she lived in this place called the Serendipity Centre where they would kidnap and experiment on children. She managed to escape, but now she's being hunted by the boss's henchperson, Astérix. Spencer and Robin make it to the Ruins of Amatongo, some ancient ruins that house a massive temple that is upside down and completely made of obsidian. While examining them, Astérix turns up and tries to kidnap the two of them, but they escape..Also in the ruins is a set of stairs that are the only way out of the cracks. They climb the stairs but get separated, and Spencer gets kidnapped by the Serendipity Centre.

Onto the next book! This is set after Jay's (aka fyouimgay2's) book Monotone, where some shadow and wind thingy monsters named in Hungarian basically go on a massive killing spree and the only person who remembers is this guy called Alex

My book, Glitch, is set about the aftermath of that and this creature called the Entity, seems like it's trying to help, however the main character, Jera (pronounced Yera) doesn't believe it's there to help because they're the only one with a copy of Alex's book. Them and their only friend Maryam fall into another dimension and meet an eldritch horror called Onyx - with a conveniently hot humanoid form - who decides to help, along with its underlings Obsidian and Ryn.

1. are they associated with a certain color? what color do they wear the most? (Kai and Rea)

Huh. Honest to god i'd have an answer for any other but these two. Both of them are shades of blue (diffrent kinds, Kai is so much more electrifying and Rea is more desaturated and warm for their species), as per their skin, but whenever i draw them i have to fight the urge to dress them in yellow.

So.

Rea is a honey mellon yellow, leaning into green like leaves in the coming of fall.

Kai is ether a cool (both terms apply) black or the same glow in the dark yellow as her eyes?

3. weapon of choice? any particular reason they chose their weapon? (Lauma Skujiņa, Nora Odera)

Lauma has her fists and a trust in her bones not to break and nothing else. (Her quirk, it's her quirk, she's shattering walls with it)

Nora? Nora Odera? Sickly insane lady? Babes, she takes a needle to her skin and carves at her own flesh. The only thing she's fighting is time. (Although you can argue that it's stuburnence)

4. how crafty/resourceful are they? (Lauma Skujiņa, Nora Odera)

For Lauma there is always some way to get out of a sittuation. Be it handeling awkward silence over coffee and cakes with people she dosn't realy know, or having to ease the quiet sobs of a child lerning to fear death while the weight of a building is on her sholders. She's lerned to go through most things with an ease and grace sometimes simply lerned in the moment.

Nora is...she's messy. Right below her surfice she is messy and volatile and so, so deeply tierd. Though, if you can give her enough time then anything can be taken care of. If she can be given the chance to stress over her short future to sickening detail, then she can give quick resolutions to issues after long thought.

10. if they wear jewelry, what kind? do they prefer silver or gold? do they have a favorite gem? (Kai)

Oh, big, big fan of jewlery. One of the few little things they're openly an enjoyer of. Got their ears pearced at the same time as the rest of the littles from their home, but unlike the rest, they continued getting little, cool metals for their ears. All hand made. By themselves or their sister or heirlooms from people before them. A good gift for them are rings that curl around the finger, which are, sure, not Practical (hard metals on your flesh in permanently cold places are an insane thought) but why else do you think teenagers stuff their full fists in their pockets?

17. how did they spend their summers/free time as a child? (Eliza Martins...oh boy :|)

Like a duckling she'd follow around Dick when both of them are home for summer. Cry when Bruce sudgested she go to some rich kid summer camps to skatch and paint and draw in pretty places with other kids. Things like that would never pan out. If obe of them had a specific camp they would genuenly enjoy (all of which Bruce did extensive reserch for), then both of them had to go. And if not tailing Dickie? She'd pick weeds and water gardens with Alfred, lern the little things only people with decades of expiriance can show.

18. their opinion on lying, stealing, and killing? (Eliza Martins)

Mmmmm....hmmmm....

Well.

Okay, this is something that has been bouncing around the back of my brain for however long i've had Eliza. So. So like. She had the same morals instiled as every bat. Of course she had. But, sadly, her morals do not matter in any of this. Never had. She functions on rules set for her by a being far older than time. She will do as things must be done and if she feels guilt or remorse-does not matter. This isn't an always thing. She is also put in situations where her best answer is the only one she's given, so it's not all always violence and murder from the get go. It's just that she wouldn't have a say in it if it was.

21. their favorite place to be? (Gred James)

Hm. His living room. Preferibly by himself. Preferibly with a warm tea and phisicaly heavy food. Preferibly in silence.

22. do they sleep well at night? (Nickole Moor, Eliza Martins<3)

Eliza is hit with the smell of home and a soft pillow and is out like a fucking light. No dreams, little nightmares. And if there are? Far too vivid to not be hounting in a way that only drains her more than she rests.

Nickole sleeps at odd hours. She has a genuen job, works actual hours (sure, she's in charge of them, but motherfucker needs shit to do to not go insane), so she should sleep more than she does. But there is always something to do. She likes doing things, she has passion for her craft, she knows that her cervices are needed for many in ways she may not even fuly know. So she works, late into the night. But her actual sleep? Bristles at any little sound and has nighmares and will call Jason at fucked hours if need be.

26. how do they move? are they clumsy? light on their feet? do they use mobility aids? (Lauma Skujiņa)

Lauma has truly buil herself for fighting. She is tall and she is lean. Controled hands and steady feet, so much of how she moves is so terribly aware. Things like that have been dictated by her quirk, things like that have been formed because of how her skin tugs at scars of past mistakes as she moves. Quiet reminders as to why she is like this now.

27. if applicable, do they have a favorite sport? do they play any sports or prefer to watch? (Lauma Skujiņa)

Too tall for football, too dissinterested in basketball. 👍

28. how do they show that they care about someone? how do they express that they don't like someone? (Kai)

With tough love. They bully their friends into taking care of themseles, drag them to bed, keep them under Kais body weight so they don't leave. They curl their tail around loved ones when something feels off, or when they've fallen asleep on their sholder. All little things, soft and small toutches full of radiating warmth, or tenderly hand crafted jewlery. Stuff as such.

30. do they smell like anything notable? (Kai and Rea)

I so, so genuenly do not know. Think of snowey hills and warm cotton socks, and the sent cats leave on beds. Maybe you'll get there.

34. how would your character describe themselves? it doesn't have to line up with how they really are. (Pandora)

She lies. Every new name a new story to weave. So little of who she is will ever be tangable in the words she's been using to tell about herself to whoever. A diffrent person gets a diffrent lie. All of them running so deep and so old that they may as well have shaped history.

It's no longer there. It never again will be.

Her name

‘R.A.’ Originally, it was the shortened version of my online name, ‘Raphianna’, but as I fleshed her out more, I gave her her own name, ‘Raelyn Ava’. I don’t usually put too much thought into names, I admit. I chose Raelyn Ava because it could still be an abbreviated version of R.A., but I genuinely love it now.

Her full name is Raelyn Ava Waterlily, and I chose the name Waterlily simply because it sounded pretty lol.

When she was younger, everyone called her Raelyn Ava, Raelyn, or Rae. But as of now, she’s shortened her name to R.A. and dropped her last name entirely, because she wanted as few ties to her childhood as possible.

How she was raised, background

She had a loving, albeit distant relationship with her parents.

Keyword: had.

They were killed in front of her when she was 9, when their village was attacked by a branch of Volkihar vampires. They’d tried to trade her for their own lives. She lived as a captive for 7 years afterwards, until she was 16, when she escaped. She wasn’t really ‘raised’ past the age of 9 per se, more so fought to survive.

Before, she lived a simple life, and was eager to learn archery, and was skilled in parkour. (I bring up parkour, cause my mama calls me a goat in the game since I can scale almost anything :P)

Her values

R.A. relies heavily on self-discipline. Those 7 years were hell, and she was never willing to talk about it after she escaped. There wasn’t anyone to talk to anyways. It made her emotional to think back on what she went through. Strangers didn’t need to worry about the weight of her wounds. And later on, her loved ones shouldn’t even have to imagine what she experienced. Her view of self discipline was a bit warped at first, but she learns how to understand it in a healthier way after she opens up to people.

She also has a tight grip on loyalty. When she learned that she could trust people, whether it be from the promise of money, deals, or genuine admiration, it was life changing. And when that loyalty started coming from real relationships more often, she was that much more determined to protect it. She has very negative feelings towards Mercer and Astrid because of this. (Though she believes Astrid deserved a second chance in the Void.)

Her looks & design

R.A. is a Wood Elf. She has shoulder length black hair, completely black eyes, and tan skin. She’s thin and 5’6”. She has a scar in the shape of a handprint across her mouth. (It’s the handprint from the warpaint option, but I made it into a scar.) There’s scarring across her throat also.

My first design for her was a Redguard, cause when I first started playing Skyrim, I literally just copied my mama as she played. (Redguard, heavy armour, two handed weapons.) My character had the same hair, but with silver eyes. She also still had the handprint across her mouth, but that was only because I thought it was cool at the time :P

I changed her to a Wood Elf when I learned that they were inspired by Native Americans. It was strange when I learned the races’ inspirations. I remember talking to my dad about it, and how I wanted to switch to a Wood Elf, since I’m also Native American, and he encouraged me to. Thus, the creation of R.A. really began.

But I still loved the silver eyes. I was bummed that wasn’t an option for the Wood Elves, so that’s why I chose the completely black option for her eyes. But R.A. did have silver eyes when she was younger, but they changed over the course of her life. Her hair also used to go down to her hips, but she cut it after she escaped.

Who’s her family

Right off the bat, yes, she has two adopted children, Lucia and Blaise.

But she also has two older siblings: a brother named Taon, who’s 35, and a sister named Erissa, who’s 31. Both Taon and Erissa left for Skyrim when their mother was pregnant with their sister; Taon was 16 and Erissa was 12. R.A. never knew either of them growing up, but her parents often talked about them.

Taon has green eyes, upper back length black hair in a high ponytail, and pale skin. Erissa has white hair that goes down to her mid back in a low ponytail, green eyes, and tan skin.

It took R.A. a long time to warm up to them, especially when she found out that they knew their mother was pregnant when they left.

By the time R.A. arrived in Skyrim, Taon lived in a cabin near the Eastmarch hot springs, and Erissa was Archmage of the College of Winterhold (canon who).

She does eventually get to know her siblings, and they become super close. Taon and Erissa feel horrible for essentially leaving R.A. behind, and they do their best to make up lost time with her.

They’re a really great aunt and uncle to R.A.’s kids.

R.A. gets Taon initiated into the Thieves Guild, and he and Erissa are among the few people who know that R.A., Karliah, and Brynjolf are Nightingales.

The Waterlily siblings also have two cousins, however.

Their names are Elision and Kyn Nightshade. Elision is 29 and Kyn is 28. (Pronounce Kyn like the beginning of Kynareth.)

Elision is a priest of Kynareth in Whiterun, and Kyn is a bard in Solitude. They learn about their cousins when Elision sees R.A. heal the Gildergreen with sap from its parent tree, and he sends a letter to Kyn.

Elision has black hair up in a ponytail much like Taon’s, golden eyes, and tan skin. Kyn has long black hair cascading down her upper back, purple eyes, and tan skin.

The Waterlilies are wary when meeting the Nightshades, since they never thought twice about their parents or any family they might’ve had.

As far as they’re concerned, their parents are dead to them.

But they become friends with Elision and Kyn, and the two cousins are just as angry at the Waterlily’s parents when they hear about what happened.

R.A. is the baby of all of them at 19.

However, blood doesn’t matter to R.A.. If she decides you’re family, you’re family.

She’s close friends with a Khajiit named Ji’zaka. He’s 26 years old, and they met as captives of Volkihar when R.A. was 10 and Ji’zaka was 17. Ji’zaka escaped with R.A. at the age of 23 when she was 16. They unfortunately were separated shortly after they escaped, and lost contact for 3 years.

Ji’zaka doesn’t know what happened for 2 out of those 3 years, but he found himself in Skyrim during the third year. Not welcome in any of the cities, and not really fitting in with any of the Khajiit caravans, he was initiated into the Dark Brotherhood and was an assassin for them when he reunited with R.A..

When she was named Listener, he was the only one besides Cicero who fully supported R.A.’s new role.

Ji’zaka has light grey fur that fades into white with black tips on every other end of his fur. He has red eyes, sharp claws, and multiple piercings in his ears.

He lives with R.A. at Lakeview Manor, and often ends up being a jungle gym and bed for her kids. They love him.

(All of them make one of the most chaotic groups to ever travel across Skyrim)

Who's her mentor

Delvin, which even she found odd, she’ll admit. They had a rocky start when they first met. R.A. was secure in her skills by the time she came into the Thieves Guild, and didn’t appreciate him assuming he knew better than her. She told him as much, rather harshly with her words; as much as her damaged vocal cords would let her, anyway. It was silent after she told him off, and R.A. did worry about making a bad impression, until Delvin laughed, and said he liked her attitude.

She was drawn to his offers of having a drink every other time she came back from a job (she never actually drank, just had some tea). He often seemed to know when something was wrong, and let her know he would listen. R.A. took Delvin up on his offers, and he was the first person she actually opened up to.

Delvin became a sort of father figure to her, someone she could safely confide in. She counts him among her family.

(I’m upset that you can’t insist you know what you’re doing with Delvin or Vex, so R.A. gets to do so from a story point. :P)

Most significant event

Talking with Serana throughout their quests with the Dawnguard. Specifically the conversation in the undercroft of Volkihar castle. R.A. never realised how much she loved family until then. And seeing Serana so resigned to her own father’s fate helped her move on from her parents’ betrayal. It wasn’t forgiveness, it likely would never be forgiveness, but she could let go of it. And seeing Serana in such vulnerable moments helped R.A. see her in a different light. She never hated or disliked Serana, but she tried not to get close to her at first. The amount of trust between them near the end nearly made R.A. weep.

Who does she care for

She cares about her kids, her siblings, her cousins, Ji’zaka, Serana, and Kharjo. Yes, the care is reciprocated, without question.

(Fun fact, I’ve played R.A., Taon, and Kyn in Skyrim :D I couldn’t play Erissa, cause I suck at mage characters, and I think the next OC I wanna play as is Elision, since he gives me paladin/healer vibes ^^ I wanna play Ji’zaka, but I’m unsure about fur colours and patterns.)

Her hobbies & relaxing

Relaxing is relatively new to R.A. and Rayya had to tell her in the gentlest terms that patrolling her house all night wasn’t typically relaxing; not if you were constantly on lookout. Rayya said it was primarily her job, and she urged R.A. to find another way to relax.

Kyn got her enrolled in the Bards College, and R.A. took to playing the lute. Her kids love to sit with her and listen while she plays. They often fall asleep like that.

Gods help you if she finds her favourite book series. You can’t get her attention for hours.

When there’s no enemies around, she loves to roam around Falkreath and the Rift. They’re her favourite Holds.

What should you understand the most

R.A. has a lot on her mind. Thane, factions, crises, the complexity of a possible chaotic afterlife-

It takes a lot to slow her mind down, and in some cases, make her see reason. She’s not reckless, but she knows when and where to target her rage. She shouldn’t have to bear these kinds of responsibilities, but she does. She’ll push through them, because she knows it will give others options she never had in the past.

Nothing can really be done when she gets like that. The best you can do is follow her and see your next quest through.

as we've seen many times, they are best friends without needing to try. if there's anything we've gotten out of them so far is that they are each other's rock: who they go to if they have a problem, or just wanna hang out with no judgement.

which brings me to my next point...

the couch theory is something so soo real to me (even if they haven't come out with it yet).

Millie you have created a monster by asking this and now i’m going to infodump-

RaeVen is so interesting, because on a surface level they match well. They share interests, have adjacent goals etc, etc. But the minute you look closer, it’s so terrible. Both these men are driven, interesting, and intelligent. But the minute you put them in intimate settings, they become dumb goobers. (derogatory)

Rae is Ven’s type (atleast physically, Feng and Rae are complete opposites personality-wise) and they get along well in a platonic setting. But that’s where the positives end. Ven clams up and seeks solitude when he’s upset, where Rae seeks assurance. They’re both people pleasers, so they’d rarely speak up and communicate their grievances with each other, out of fear of upsetting the other. They both have no work-life balance. Ven has a faint bossy/dramatic streak, and that’d set Rae off kilter when it comes to standing his ground. (and there’s more but i don’t want this to be too long.)

But in FableSMP canon, this dynamic can’t occur, because neither of their emotional journeys converge at a point where they’re in the right mental states at the right time. The Band AU however-

The band au is perfect for RaeVen, they’re both young, don’t understand how to be in a relationship, let alone be in a healthy one. They’d bring out each other’s best creative qualities, but also aggravate their negative ones. It’d make a great soap opera.

TLDR; RaeVen make fantastic crazy exes. Heyhay and I have talked about this a lot recently because its cool. (and ty Connor for feeding the band au AND raeven brainrot in one fell swoop.)

So my favorite oc is Kaiya Todoroki, and she's Shoto's twin sister! She got their mother's ice quirk, as well as her pale skin, hair, and eyes. She has a really detailed story but for time's sake I'll try to give the tl;dr for now (feel free to ask for more detail anytime tho bc I could talk about her for hoursnsnskkske)

Kaiya is basically Dabi's antithesis. She's the small, white haired youngest sister with an ice quirk, while he's the larger, naturally red haired oldest brother with a fire quirk

But in a lot of ways they're very similar- they both have trouble controlling their quirk, resulting in frequent injuries and mistakes. Because of this, Kaiya and Touya were pretty close before he "died"

Skipping to when she's older, she and Shoto both get into UA, but with less training and a less than enthusiastic recommendation from their father, Kaiya was placed in 1-B while Shoto was placed in 1-C. Later on Aizawa sees her training with Shoto, and he eventually helps her get into 1-A with Shinsou

(now here's the cool idea I mentioned in another postjskdkdkd)

Touya finds out that Shoto got into UA and he's annoyed by Shoto still being the 'perfect child father wanted', but he gets an idea when he realizes that Kaiya's in UA, too.

Kaiya can do what Touya can't. She has the powerful ice quirk, while he the powerful flame quirk. If they work together, they would be as powerful, if not more powerful, than Shoto. And beyond that, Kaiya has direct access to Endeavor and UA Intel. If he can convince her to join the League, or even just join him, he'd finally have the perfect way to expose their father. He thinks it should be fairly easy to convince her- she had to endure Enji's abuse just like he did- and if she's hesitant, he'll just lay on that 'dont you miss your favorite brother?' guilt

The only problem is that Kaiya isn't nearly as bitter towards Shoto or her classmates as Touya expected. She's more than willing to help expose Enji and the overpowered hero system, but she's doing everything she can to keep UA and her friends out of it

Which leads to her being caught between helping her older brother and helping/protecting her twin brother
