Spanish soccer fans sentenced to prison for racial abuse of Brazil striker Vinícius Júnior
Tumblr media
Three supporters of Spain’s Valencia CF soccer club on Monday were sentenced to eight months in prison for racial abuse they inflicted upon Brazilian soccer star Vinícius Júnior during a match against Real Madrid last year.
A Spanish court found the fans guilty of crimes against moral integrity, aggravated by discriminatory racial motives.
The incident took place on May 21, 2023, during a La Liga match against Real Madrid in Valencia’s Mestalla Stadium.
The Brazilian forward celebrated the court’s sentence on social media:
“Many asked me to ignore it, and many others said my fight was in vain and that I should just ‘play football.’ But as I’ve always said, I’m not a victim of racism. I am a nemesis of racists,” Vinícius Júnior wrote on X. “This first criminal conviction in Spain’s history is not for me. It’s for all Black people. Let the other racists be afraid, ashamed, and hide in the shadows.”

spain and belgium, showing some fucking spine : can we stop supporting a genocide ? wtf is this madness ? put an end to this shit !
meanwhile a literal LEFTIST newspaper in France, spineless : "No truce or hostage release in Gaza until Friday. The end of the ordeal for dozens of Israeli hostages will have to wait [rest of the text proceeds to not say A SINGLE WORD on the ordeal innocent palestinians have been going through]."

i was talking about this to a friend the other day but something i see ppl say often that really really pisses me off, is when people start hating on america, but it becomes clear they’re hating not on the state of america, but on the american people- and theyll say something to sort of like. exclude. american ethnic groups, as like a way of being like “yeahh fuck all americans they should all die IM NOT RACIST THOUGH!” except they do that by being like “yeah and there were american ethnic groups like natives and creoles and whatever…uhh but yk those americans. They killed all of them. So they’re not around anymore ergo not included.”
i just hate that. Like if you want to say you hate a whole population of people you have to acknowledge that you’re hating a whole population of people, you cant back out when it starts sounding really racist because by doing that you’re just sort of saying we are either extinct, or our whole continued existence on this land is null. Like either say you hate all americans and include us, or if that doesn’t sound right, then don’t say it at all!

okay so keep in mind i was a rma fan who didn't really follow psg or kylian until the world cup so i was only getting the salty rma fan perspective on kylian which was that all his teammates hate him because he's arrogant and blablabla.
people were saying that ramos hated mbappe because he disrespected messi and basically the narrative was that kylian was so arrogant and rude that ramos sided with his "old nemesis" messi over him and was getting payback for him by bullying him. it all sounds ridiculous now that i say it but the kylian hate was so popular that i never even questioned it. i tried to find some of the clips. there's probably more but idk what to type to find them.
this is the main clip that was used. he shouldered him at training and people were saying it was revenge for "disrespecting messi" https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMYobXvQW/
this one ramos is "choking" him and messi is laughing at it and people were saying he was threatening kylian and that messi was happy about it. it sounds so stupid as im typing it but it sounded more believable when you only hear about kylian through spanish media https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMYog8HQ7/
the first clip from this video they were just saying he's bullying him because he doesn't like him. i hadn't seen the other clips where they're laughing just the first one where he's "kicking him" and mbappe looks mad  https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMYogfsQy/
same thing with this one https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMYogSRSR/
anyway i was dumb for believing that but in my defense a lot of people who didn't follow them enough to know about their friendship thought he hated kylian too. to end on a positive note, here's a cute clip I found while looking for those of kylian running across the whole field to jump in his arms :) https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMYogemTu

ANON THANK U SO MUCH FOR THIS IM DYING OF LAUGHTER 😭💀. i already knew how bad the spanish media tried to portray mbappe but i didn't think they took him being treated like a little brother to mean ramos or messi hates him. or that they'd attack him for literally just standing there. damn they should never see how my brother and i rough house then... like all the clips r just them having fun it's insane 💀💀.
as a fellow rma fan how were any of the clips different to him annoying ozil, marcelo, modrić, and pepe in rma training (or torres/pique on intnl break)💀💀. some ppl are so fucking gullible (good thing u realized ur mistake anon!). "revenge for messi" be soooo fucking fr rn😭😭. messi and ramos r both too grown and too solidified in their careers for that type of petty bs. it hurts me as a ramos fan to see those types of things bc like?? is this how u (general u not u anon) remember our capi?? as a bully of young players on his team?? as someone who doesn't make a safe environment for his team?? it's honestly an insult to the legacy he's built at rma.

oh man but the comment section in some of those vids do NOT pass the vibe check. a good rule of thumb that i use to navigate media is the second i see mostly racist comments or comments w racial undertones (especially if it's about black/immigrant athletes) i do my own research. saves me a LOT of trouble w rumors and media lololol. i also ask the questions: where is their source coming from? how old are these men to be acting like this? should i be taking facts from a country (england, spain, france, etc.) who's known to let racism and bias run rampant in leagues, media, and officials? and finally the most important question:
is this an opinion a cis male football fan would agree with?
anyways to end this on a positive note thank you for the comedic material! and for reminding me that the hug exists.

Oh, I'd submit Jerma for Doflamingo so hard, you have no idea.
I wish he was an actor so I could lmao
I honestly don't know him, but if you think he could act, that'd be good enough for me. But then again, someone already submitted him, so you don't have to anymore, unless you want to provide some additional propaganda (but you could do that on the poll as well, once it's out.)
Some general rules (gonna add this to the main post in a sec)
'Actor' doesn't have to have acting jobs on their name already, but you must be convinced they are able to act out the character convincingly, so acting jobs help.
Actors must be speaking English well enough for the job (accents are fine, they don't have to be native speakers).
If you've submitted anyone who doesn't follow these rules, please message me! Especially the English part is hard for me to find out sometimes, but if they've never played in anything English spoken, I'm inclined to think they don't speak English well enough. I set this rule to make it more realistic they could be cast in the actual live action.

the racism problem in spain reminds me of the racism problem in southern brazil.
much to the ignorance of foreigners, brazil’s south was heavily settled by european immigrants from non-portuguese origins. these include, by numbers, italians, germans, ukrainians, and poles. santa catarina and paraná, two of the three southern states, were seldom settled by portuguese settlers, but rio grande do sul, the southermost state of brazil, was settled by iberian settlers as well as italians and germans (and is also the most segregated state of all 3, which is made evident by the fact it’s the 2nd whitest state but also the state with most adepts of afro-brazilian religions in brazil; the blacks brought from slavery were not integrated).
racism is a taboo topic in southern brazil. nobody wants to admit they are racist, but they will also pause before saying the portuguese word for black (”negro”, which is the questionably polite word, no older white in brazil will say “preto”). since it is taboo and you cannot speak directly about it, you also can’t reflect on it, because if you are socially banned from using certain words then you cannot communicate ideas about something properly. everyone wants to believe they’re a good person and treat black people fairly, but in truth here in the south not much is actually done to make the lives of black gaúchos and other black southerners better. because it’s “not an issue” here.
i think spain is the same, and iberia in general (portugal), due to their reconquista past which made it necessary for them to rely on the idea of a single cohesive people with one culture and one religion and to believe that the moors (muslims) were inferior, that the christians in iberia were inherently better. portugal became the first nation-state in europe in 1386 after the battle of aljubarrota after they defeated the castilian crown in a national effort where the portuguese people themselves drove out the castilian invasor.
so i believe it is a mix of historical patterns and the taboo factor that are behind the racism problem in iberia. british people will often be apologetic about colonialism, but the portuguese are more often than not racist and xenophobic towards brazilians, and this kind of behavior is common and widely accepted in their society. they don’t question it. and it’s strange that in the context of europe, where the southern countries are often targets of racism themselves, end up being the most racist towards non-europeans. just as southern brazilians, who are not even considered white by most of the west (instead latinos or something), are a tad more racist than your average (urban) american or european white, if more ashamed about it, due to the taboo factor and the fact it’s still brazil, and racism/anti-racism also has to be interpreted in a national context even here.
