1982: Greatest Geek Year Ever! will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on October 22 via MVD's Rewind Collection. Directed by Mark A. Altman, the four-part documentary miniseries premiered on The CW in 2023.

It explores the impact of 1982 cinema like E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Blade Runner, The Thing, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Poltergeist, Creepshow, Night Shift, The Dark Crystal, 48 Hrs., First Blood, Tron, Conan the Barbarian, Cat People, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and The Road Warrior.

Interview subjects include Ron Howard, Paul Schrader, John Sayles, Amy Heckerling, Henry Winkler, William Shatner, Sean Young, Joanna Cassidy, Keith David, Cameron Crowe, Michael Deeley, Lisa Henson, Dean Devlin, Bruce Campbell, Dee Wallace, Felicia Day, Roger Corman, Barry Bostwick, Marc Singer, Bryan Fuller, Mick Garris, Leonard Maltin, and more.

For all that they've been adopted by chuds I think these pieces of art are relatively neutral. They're by an artist named Rachid Lotf who basically takes commissions from people to recreate their childhood bedrooms. If you look him up a lot of his art is nostalgic adults remaking their (real or imagined) 80s-90s kid bedroom; most of them men, but he's also done some commissions for "girly" pop culture.

But here's the thing: some of the commissions aren't for nostalgic adults - they're adults commissioning art for their children. In other words, he does *modern* ones too

So while people go "this is the world we LOST and we must become FASCIST to once again have a world where teenagers can eat food while playing video games" the guy who made that art is going around making art of kids eating pizza while playing Fortnite. Next to a glowing bottle of Stewart's Orange Cream Soda, apparently

Fascinated with this jabroni's insistence that We Have To Go Back with this art. Remember when we enjoyed non-political art like Metal Gear Solid, Terminator 2, and Jurassic Park, and before the woke crowd banned spaghetti?

Apparently this person is especially mad at "postmodernism". They're mad at postmodernism and nostalgic for /Metal Gear Solid/. Incredible

Actually they posted a bunch of art (which they all stole from someone) of people in improbable 90s bedrooms with every square inch plastered in posters for video games and also trips to Blockbuster. Incredible
