7, 12, 14, 22 for Aisling! :]
Hi Laya!! Thank you! :3
Tis the prompt list
7. What are their first thoughts upon seeing the Breach?
"Oh shit." followed by a "... What caused it why is it so big how much energy does it require to stay up- Also how do we get to safety does it expands how quick does it expand-".
She stayed with big eyes and an open mouth staring at it for two full minutes before Cassandra realized she wasn't being followed. Had to shake her to bring her back to attention.
12. What was the Herald's reaction upon seeing Corypheus for the first time?
Oh she went in full healer mode, LOL.
A lot of considerations on HOW he's alive with an armour... Inglobated into his chest, face twisted, so on and so forth- he's really too thin is he eating enough she doesn't think he is of course he's angry if he doesn't eat.
Well he's attacking the village that's not nice. Stop to any though of feeding him into peace.
14. What type of Inquisitor are they? What are their motivations? How do they lead?
She's understanding but firm, and agrees with Josephine that the first choice should always be diplomacy. In spite of that, she saw a little too much of the world to really believe that every problem can be solved by talking.
She got known for having yes, a soft heart but being quite unrelenting when crossed... or when she really wants something. Tendentially, she tends not to favour nobles so much. She people-pleased her way to the Belle of the Balle title, sure, but she has a habit of acting first to help people, and apologize later and discuss compensations. This became more and more obvious from the Arbor Wilds: by the Exalted Council, she had not so much favour from the Court. Celene didn't show up as a sign that she didn't recognize her authority anymore and didn't care. (Aisling still has every compromising document and piece of paper with her. Never left it. Celene knows. Their relationship is... Tense.)
With soldiers and commoners tho? She's down there working with them, first hand, elbow-deep in dirty bandages in the field clinic right after a battle, eats with the rest of the soldiers when she can. Soldiers love them (and the Commander most of all. uwu).
22. What do does the Inquisitor see in the small fear demons?
Members of her clan and of the Inquisition that she can recogize. They're dead, and horribly maimed and burned by what appears to be scorchmarks caused by lightnings. There's also a vague, blurry figure of an elf that shares her hair colour. She can vaguely distinguish hints of features, but not so many, she's the only one that's not disfigured or injured. It's a she, and she only tells her: "I didn't want you because you're you. You're only worth losing.".
The faceless figure is the one she hits first, and the first time she saw it she screamed. They realized like that that they were all seeing different things. Thankfully Dorian understood that her being vague in answering to what she saw was a very delicate spot.

Meanwhile, at the Cobbled Swan.
Inquisitor: things are terrible. We are Not doing well. We are persisting alongside the horrors, but make no mistake. The cost is high.
Rook: *furiously taking notes* mm hmm got it. Just one more thing before you go?
Inquisitor: ?
Rook: You can come out, Lucanis
Lucanis, sprinting in from the shadows: I heard you fought a wyvern.
Inquisitor: ??
Lucanis: *please* tell me about the wyvern
Inquisitor: Well...are you asking about the Hissing Wastes or Crestwood?
Lucanis: 🫨

honestly I absolutely love the Avvar in Jaws of Hakkon. How they worship the gods, how they view the world around them, how accepting they are and just how interesting they are too. I absolutely despise how the Inquisitor and Companions make commentary as if they're stupid or wrong in their beliefs, or that they're "just crazy people who worship spirits".
The dialogue you don't choose or even the ones you do are on the line of condescending, and it's frankly insulting, especially that all options on the dialogue wheel fall on that line.
the Avvar are so fucking cool, I hate we only get a DLC with them. (I also miss the Chasind - I wish they weren't forgotten or left in the dirt by BioWare :( )

A commission for a client who is not on Tumblr, who wanted his four main Dragon Age player characters all together. His poor Rook is about half the age of all the others at this point, and is being unjustly treated as the baby of the group of heroes.

let me be clear i like veilguard but it does suck that no one disapproves anymore outside of like. three choices. i want to be fighting for my life earning approval back again someone has GOT to hate my ass. i should be careful about party composition and companion reactions again. i miss tactically taking fenris out of the party before i'm nice to merrill like those were the days
#please omg can someone hate my ass . not really. but in previous games it sometimes did feel like i was earning approval back#like a. 'even when we fight i still love you. don't forget that' way . i wanted some uphill battle and dav IS super sanitised#the difference is more staggering to old players than new ones. i think dav plays rly well for someone who doesnt know the franchise#but i keep asking questions like 'should the dalish not be more worried about solas/etc' 'the crows r not this nice'#'why wouldnt isabela ask about varric' 'there should probably be more fantasy racism here'#of course these r the devs who were slandering zevran weeks before release. however its also just. man.#I AM ENJOYING THE GAME THOUGH. just wish it had a bit (a lot) more relevance and respect to what its built up in the prev games#dragon age#dav spoilers#veilguard spoilers#dav#txt#like for example i think one of my favorite small writing moments is cass asking about the inquisitor's family in dai#where she approves if you are also estranged but disapproves if you say you want to go back#because for a split second she does not just see a so called 'herald' that she's forced to work with#it's someone just like her who never got along w their family and despite herself she likes the inquisitor more for it#or it's someone who couldn't be less like her and her dislike and initial mistrust becomes more certain#it just. there's is an amount of depth lost when vg tries this hard to make rook be loved as a default

#dai#dragon age#dragon age inquisition#da inquisitor#the inquisitor#adaar#inquisitor#inquisitor adaar#taashath adaar#some fun facts about her that im hiding in the tags!!#taashath was born under the qun and used to be a tamassran! the left the qun when she discovered one of her#children- her last child in fact- had magic. she didnt want him to be taken as a saarebas and so she tried to leave with him#her kid was killed in the process of leaving :(. she snapped and. surprise. she has magic too. shes just done a really good job of hiding it#she manages to escape with the help of one of the soldiers assigned to protecting her (meraad who another inquisitor in a different run)#but doesnt exactly remember How. all she remembers is waking up on the shore of wycome without meraad#eventually she was found by the valo-kas and taken in by them. they helped teach her how to properly control her magic and they took care of#her as she slowly got back on her feet.#and then she became the inquisitor.#she allied with the mages. conscripted the wardens. and made celene gaspard and briala shake hands. she also sacrificed loghain in the fade.#she doesnt have a canonical romance BUT. she had a few flings with some of the others and spent years pining after vivienne.#she ends up close friends with dorian bull cole and sera! she... does not end up friends with blackwall. but she does spare him#she Was close with solas at the start of inquisiton but she struggled to connect with him. his interactions with some of the other#companions didnt help. but she does care about him!! its just. difficult. it was difficult with sera and dorian at first too. and bull#she is completely Unsure what to think of varric but they are friends. and taashi absolutely adores josephine. leliana scares her just a bit#and she struggles to intetact with cullen but she does care for him. cassandra ends up as her divine (from a game glitch i made canon) even#though she did everything she could to get vivienne on the throne.#shes also trans!!! very big bonding point between her bull and krem is that she is aqun-athlok. everytime dorian or varric mentions mae she#goes :0 as well. uhhh yeah! i love her sm. if anyone has any questions pls pls 🥺🙏 send em

Understanding that Solas was first a spirit clarifies that he is now, and has been for some time, a demon, or adjacent to one.
We can see this through the dread wolf flashbacks. Solas was a spirit of wisdom in the fade, a gentle companion of Mythal. When Mythal begged him to leave his home for her benefit, he did - and the world that he witnessed changed him.
He became the General of a militant resistance effort in the material world, making choices that directly caused conflict, devastation, sorrow, and violence.
To go from a peaceful existence in the fade to a tooth-and-claw, gristle-and-bone, desperation-and-sacrifice-laden life on the material plane - in an instant - that’s a kind of monumental foundational shift that we as humans have no frame of reference for. In Thedas, the only beings who can possibly experience that abrupt transition are Spirits; and in the canon text of the world, it usually results in a twisting of the spirits nature - a corruption that turns them from a spirit to a demon.
So Solas must be a demon. Not quite the same as demons the player is always fighting, but a demon nonetheless.

Banters between Dorian Pavus and Celeste Trevelyan, the Herald of Andraste.
Celeste: Uh. Dorian. How do you sleep at night?
Dorian: Rather poorly, if you must know. The thing they've put on my bed and called a mattress is stuffed with actual horsehair.
Celeste: No. I mean, like, after what we saw.
Dorian: Oh. That.
Dorian: That I drown in copious amounts of drink. I'm afraid I can't recommend it to someone of your delicate age.
Celeste: I don’t like the taste anyway.
Dorian: Herald, after you summon up your charming friends, have you ever considered putting a damper on your mana surge?
Celeste: No.
Dorian: I thought as much. Your ricochet is easy enough for me to counter, obviously, but it does become tedious to untangle our spells after every volley.
Celeste: Um. You could stand farther away.
Dorian: Ah. Brilliant solution.
Celeste: My mom died fighting Darkspawn.
Dorian: Yes, I’d heard that. I’m very sorry.
Celeste: I mean, I’m really sorry about Felix. I liked him.
Dorian: Thank you. I liked him too.
Celeste: Um. Dorian. I have a question – about magic.
Dorian: Lucky for you, here I am.
Celeste: Okay.
Dorian: What was your question?
Celeste: I was, like, thinking about the Anaxas Formula, and, like, the time thing, and I was wondering if a temporal rift could be used as kind of, like, a condenser for necrotic energy. Like, taking into account spiritual drift. And, uh, do you think that could be contained with a modified barrier?
Dorian: The Anaxas Formula? Don’t tell me you’ve been basing your spells off of that old gem.
Celeste: It works.
Dorian: Yes, I suppose, if your goal is to perform Nevarran parlor tricks.
Dorian: Remind me to show you a diagram of the Vadis theory when we return to Skyhold. It’s far more comprehensive.

2, 22, and 35 for the inquisitor questions! 💗
Uuuuuh these were juicy, thank you sm!! 💫💫💫
Tis the prompt list
2. What were their expectations going into the Conclave?
She expected to parlay and put on the table a Dalish perspective on the war. Solving everything and saving the world wasn't something she had on her mind, and if you had told her she would do so on the way to the Conclave she would have laughed. All she wanted was to make sure the People would have been heard, and in the worst case scenario, she would have known what to expect and could prepare the clan better.
22. What do does the Inquisitor see in the small fear demons?
Already answered here!
35. What are their thoughts before confronting Corypheus one last time? Are they sure they'll win or are they scared?
She wasn't really expecting to win, there's only a limited number of times you can escape death by the skin of your teeth, she thought, and that was it. She left Skyhold with all her things settled in the case of her death.
But at that point her mood wasn't fear, it was this:
Tumblr media
Blackwall isn't Blackwall, her sister and one of her closest friends broke EXTREMELY badly, she got asked her opinion on the next Divine ("WHY ME they've been calling me a heathen since yesterday JOSIE WRITE A NAME FOR ME"), she quarrelled with Sera over Mythal, quarrelled worse with Cassandra over the Temple and religion and everything else, her mental capacity is FULL.
She just wanted it to be over, one way or the other. The battle had too many variables to form a plan as solid as she would have wanted ("Will he stay dead? Will we be able to chain him and contain him? Oh Creators he's levitating the whole ruin, I was not expecting this, Dorian tell me you didn't left your notes on gravity home. What if we can't steal the orb and it falls down who knows where, so high up it could end up everywhere.").
She came to battle with that peace of mind that only resignation to the worse can instill. She would have beaten him so hard that it would have made for Cullen, Hawke or the Hero of Ferelden or whomever else wanted to try, easier to finish Corypheus off. Bring it on.

An Inquisitor Q&A
Tumblr media
I've seen a few Inquisitor-based questions floating around and wanted to make one of my own! Here's a list of questions I'd love to hear about the Fandom's Inquisitors <3.
What nickname does Varric give your Inquisitor?
2. How does your inquisitor respond to being called "The Herald of Andraste?" Does their opinion change over time?
3. Did a side quest or NPC interaction resonate with your Inquisitor? How did it make them feel, and why did it speak to them?
4. Did your Inquisitor leave any family behind before the Divine's Conclave? Do they keep in contact with them afterward?
5. What's one faction in Thedas your Inquisitor would want to align themselves with that wasn't an opportunity during Inquisition?
6. What's your favorite part of your Inquisitor's backstory/lore? Either something provided in-game or something you made up!
7. How does your Inquisitor's life change after the Exalted Council? How do they cope and recover?
8. If your Inquisitor had a "hot take" about something in Thedas, what would it be?
9. If your Inquisitor had a tombstone during "Here Lies the Abyss," what would it say?
10. What's one quest that gutted your Inquisitor? The one that would have them rethinking their life choices.
11. Which goodbye is the hardest for your Inquisitor? What companion did they hate to lose?
12. Is there any character from past installments with which your Inquisitor would get along?
13. Is there any character from past installments your Inquisitor would consider a rival?
14. How does your Inquisitor cope with such a significant leadership role? Did their opinions or personalities change during their two years of maintaining the Inquisition?
15. What do you hope to see from your Inquisitor if they play a prominent role in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

4, 20, 23, 32 for Ankh! :3
Hi!!!! Thank you so much ;u;
I had a good laugh when I saw what 23 was about after I've replied to 20 lol
4 - Was there anything in their life they were looking forwards to doing once the Conclave was done?
I never thought about it! This is super interesting!
She was very eager to leave her clan, honestly, I don't think she would have gotten back home immediately.
I think she was looking forward to the Conclave itself, mostly, and to listening to various perspectives outside her dalish bubble. She does have a back-up plan involving a trip to Brecilian to visit some of her hunter friends, but nothing bigger than that.
20 - What does the Inquisitor think about Hawke?
They like each other a lot, but she thinks he tends to be too preachy, borderline intrusive sometimes. When he starts a conversation with "I'm worried about-", she has to take a deep breath and count to 10, because there's a good chance that he would release an unsolicited opinion on her personal life.
Also, there's a moment in which she grows very frustrated of his big personality. He's capable of earning the trust of anyone in a matter of seconds because he's charismatic, she has to work for it.
But these are like, small annoyances for her. They're friends, and perfection doesn't exist.
23 - Who gets left behind in the Fade? What led to the Inquisitor making that decision? Do they feel bad or regret doing it?
Hawke gets left behind in the Fade, both out of strategy and him having (in her opinion) the best tools to survive that scenario intact.
He and Alistair are both good friends of hers, a decision like that had to be played strategically rather than "who do you love the most?". She loves both the most, but again, Hawke is the most resourceful.
Which is an excuse she tells herself to live in peace with the consequences of her actions. It was deliberate, she knows it, and she will never forget that in that moment she betrayed a better person that she'd ever been.
32 - Does the Inquisitor run after Samson/Calpernia or do they go through the rituals? If so, do they team up with the ancient elves?
Went through the rituals, knowing that it was a gamble. Canonically she aces the puzzles in less than ten minutes, despite Solas dissing her gods in the background and Cassandra cosplaying as a teapot.
In truth I think I've spent 20 minutes alone on the second puzzle lol I'm not as intelligent as her
She teamed up with the ancient elves, ready to protect the well at all costs. The fact that she could connect with her history in a moment so urgent for the present day was highly upsetting, to say the least.
