over the last 11 years i’ve come to almost numb myself when telling people my dad is dead. people don’t know what to say. they get uncomfortable. i feel bad that me sharing this fact about my life makes them uncomfortable. i almost forget that it’s sad information because i try to move past the interaction as quickly as possible. and besides, i can’t get Sad every time i have to share this fact with someone. but today my coworker made me feel so seen. her genuine reaction to my loss made me remember that others can, in fact, see my grief. i am grateful for it. and i am grateful to others who trust me to hold their grief. i cherish your sharing.

Y’ALL WE DID IT! My ‘A Rose By Any Other Name’ zine is finally complete and available to read. HUGE thank you to everyone who submitted and contributed work. Your stories and differing perspectives have made putting this together an absolute joy. Reading through submissions was simultaneously hilarious and heartbreaking.

Our new zine Chronically Invisible by Jessie Ziegenbein is out now!! 🌿✨

"Hi! I’m Jessie, a nonbinary college student

studying mechanical engineering. I live with various disabilities and chronic pain, which has impacted the way I view and interact with the world. My intention for this zine is to highlight some of the unique struggles people with chronic illness and other invisible disabilities go through, though there are many more not covered here. Some of the experiences talked about are applicable to any kind of disability, though are often accentuated by a disability being invisible. My hope is that everyone can learn something new about what it’s like living with a chronic illness or disability, and go on to treat everyone with kindness and empathy despite how they appear to be doing on the outside."

Kairos - a Greek word for time. Distinct from Chronos (chronological time). Kairos is a different kind of time. It is described as an opportune moment, a moment that interrupts the linear.

A moment that, given the right conditions, is actionable.

Time we create.

My first ever zine, “Wandering in Kairos”, is an intimate collection of plein air paintings, inner dialogues, and photographs from a solo journey abroad (namely in Switzerland and Italy, places of ancestry and mythos for me). With many different bursts of thoughts, feelings, and experiences, the zine mirrors the collage-like nature of being alive while also engaging a discussion on discovery, and “kairos” time.
