Queer Zine Archival Project (QZAP)

With all the chaos that is currently happening in the US (I'm not American), I feel that it's important to not lose hope in what we are still fighting for and to continue to express our experiences and desires when it comes to being/supporting the LGBTQ+ as a whole.

Because unfortunately, America has a very strong influence on the rest of the world.

The very least I can do is share and encourage going through the QZAP website since zines played a major role within LGBTQ history. The website has very much helped me learn the experiences of what people have been going at that time, and I believe much of it can be applied now.

But I also encourage people to create zines of their own so that we continue to stay strong remind others that our existence will not be going away.

How do you try to practise radical love?

By giving love freely without expectations <3 We all want to love and be loved. It's the small things that can sometimes mean the most, surprising my friends with a little baked good, scribble or drawing, fun stickers, or a home cooked meal.

I fucking love QZAP.org (Queer Zine Archive Project).

Everything is loud, in your face, and full of literal PRIDE (especially when you go back to the early years). They have zines from all over the world and it dates back almost 40 years.

I was drawn to the 4th Issue of QFM (Queer Fuckers Magazine), made in June 1992 for Pride in Salt Lake City, UT.

I went to school in Utah for 4 years and it is a place that can really suck to be queer overall. Kinda inspirational to see a history of people standing up to shit and being queer as fuck. A lot of them have a really radical and cheeky sensibility.

afaik there is not a single digital file that will be more archival than a piece of paper kept in mediocre storage. you can and should submit things like zines, letters and photos to lgbtq archives!

We need a digital archive of LGBTQ+ works of art, science, and every other conceivable work we can share between each other because we are beyond the genocide warning level in most countries in the west and they're already trying to purge us from libraries.
