does the milgram team allow fan projects like zines?

It’s a nonprofit for-charity zine, so it’s in the end no different than making a big collection of fanart! I’d assume it’d fall under the laws that allow dojinshis in Japan, but again, it’s non profit and outside Japan!

Yup, that was one of my last fanzine projects before COVID hit lol

Unfortunately, due to the nature of for-profit fanzines and payment details for the contributors changing in the years since, I'm unable to offer the fanzine for sale in any form. The art and fanfics were all uploaded online, so I encourage you and other Symmarah fans to check it all out <3

Hello and thank you for your interest in this zine! Below the cut is the schedule of dates, as well as Frequently Asked Questions.

The zine is currently in production, follow us here or on BlueSky at zackfairzine2024 for updates!

Public Schedule

Creation date: July 30th 2024

Interest Check/Set-up: July 30th-August 30th

Mod applications: August 6-August 13th Results sent out on the 14th (and discord invites) Set up guest artists in discord: August 15th

Applications: August 26-September 23rd Results sent out starting September 17th and ending by September 25th for last minute additions (this will include discord invites)

Work begins: September 20th onward!

End date est. early 2025!

Q: What kind of content are we looking for?

Q: What are the expectations for contributers (writers/artists)?

A: Creators will be making a brand-new piece(s) for the zine, based on what they think they will realistically be able to complete for the project deadlines (TBD, keep in mind the publishing date is est. early 2025 but can absolutely change). There are no prompts and there is no theme other than Zack Fair. A discord will be created (and staff are always here via asks) to help each other come up with ideas and encourage one another's projects!

In addition, one person may submit up to 4 contributions for the zine, in the form of mix-and-match or the same grouping. I.e. 4 pieces of art, 4 fics, or 2 pieces of art and 2 short-form pieces of writing, etc. These details can be ironed out on an individual basis, and not all pieces may appear in a physical zine.

Finally, pieces for this zine are expected to be kept hidden from public view until the zine is finalized (a.k.a. not posted on any social media or Ao3 except for teasers/ads for the zine, details TBD [do not post any ads on Ao3 they do not allow that]).

Q: Are there going to be length limitations?

A: For the digital zine, no, outside of fics being limited to one-shots. If a physical zine gets designed, then those one-shots will be limited to a certain page number TBD.

Q: Will proceeds go to charity if this becomes a purchase-only zine?

A: Yes! First, it has to be determined if this is will be a purchased item or not. If it does, then we will pick a charity.

Q: Do I get any perks as a contributor?

A: A free digital zine, even if the final edition ends up being purchase-only. Any merch is TBD (we will have to see if funds are available to buy all contributors a copy of a physical zine, if it gets produced).

Q: Who is leading the project?

A: So far, just @sherlockwolf. Feel free to browse their tumblr and AO3 (same username) to get a feel for how they interact with FF7!

Q: Will the discord have mods?

A: Yes! Once it is set up, there will be a mod application process for 2 additional mods. Details about the discord will be sent out later on to those who are accepted onto the project at the end of September.

Q: Are collabs between writers and artists allowed?

A: Absolutely! There is a section in the discord server for this and those collabs will have to be communicated between the involved writer, artist, and project lead.

Record of Ragnarok

"Who invoked Ragnarok?" 

The gods froze at the voice. Some shrank into themselves while others tried to find where the voice was coming from. The Valkyrie stopped dead in their traps. Both Brunhilde and Zeus paled. Poor Goll looked at Brunhilde surprised as she had been going up against the gods and defying them, yet the individual behind this voice could knock her back along with the 'Grandfather of the cosmos'. Mankind was baffled that a single individual could send nearly all the gods into a fanzine. They were terrified of that fact. Goll turned to see if she could find the owner of the voice but screamed when she saw a black shadow behind Brunhilde. She disappeared before Goll could warn her. 

"Zeus, behind you!" Goll could only shout to him when she saw an unidentified individual behind him. 

"I shall ask one last time," Zeus turned his head slowly along with Hades, who had shown up not long before. Both physically paled when they saw who the voice belonged to. Brunhilde was standing stiff with her head downwards next to the individual. 

"Who invoked Ragnarok?" The voice demanded as they were stared down at. 

"My lady," The Colosseum went silent. "I did," The one who spoke up as they bowed towards them.

"Hermes," He stood back up straight to see her watching him from the side of her eye. "I do not appreciate being lied to." 

"I invoked Ragnarok," Brunhilde spoke up after silence hung in the air. She flinched when she was turned upon.

"Why Brunhilde?" There was no emotion in her voice as the question was asked.

"I thought it was the only way to save mankind," Brunhilde looked up. "They were going to wipe them out." She let out the truth as she gestured to the gods. 

"Oh," She finally said after being quiet, trying to hold in how she felt. Zeus finched when she turned to him. He jumped off his chair and knelt in front of her. 

"Forgive me Lady y/n," Gaspe went throughout the Colosseum. Not only had Zeus apologised and kneeled for her, but it was Y/n, Goddess of All. Whispers began. "They were destroying the earth, seas and life overall. To be fair we would have made it quick and simp-"Zeus stopped speaking when he noticed her glare.

"Let me make one thing clear," Y/n's voice projected around the Colosseum as she spoke. "Mankind is not yours to judge. You do not guide the ones who follow you," Many gods finched. 

"If this compaction continues, it will be until one cannot fight anymore. If any of you have any objects you can face me." Silence followed before mankind rejoiced at the relief of not being in danger. Y/n disappeared from where Zeus was still on his knees to the middle of the Colosseum. Three individuals stood behind her. 

She nodded and they made their way to the side. Not even two seconds later, a god attempted to attack. She watched this lesser god as he came from the side with others hiding behind him. She let a sigh out as she raised a hand. Y/n caught his weapon and pushed him backwards, along with the other gods. They all crashed into the wall of the Colosseum. Noticing no one else attempted to engage in a fight, she turned and began to make her way towards a seat. 

"Where were you when we lost Hercules and Poseidon?" Y/n stopped and looked towards the individual who spoke.

"What did you say?" She questioned them.

"Hercules and Poseidon are gone forever because you only just showed up," The ones watching her closely saw her hand twitch as she walked towards the god who spoke up. "You obviously don't care-" His words cut off when she stood in front of him. 

"I would choose your next words wisely," Y/n demanded as she glared at him. "I only knew about this foolish thing when Budda told me. I came as soon as he did. Zeus knew what he was doing when he kept this from me. The only one who does not care for his life is you."

Her seat was then taken after she turned from him. The rounds that followed continued until a fighter could not continue. The winners were decided.

"Brunhilded, Zeus," Y/n voice cut through the air. Everyone turned to her. She lifted her head from where it rested on her hand as she spoke to them. "If you were given a wish what would it be?" No one was expecting her to ask this. 

"More power, no. More women, no. More fighting opponents?" Zeus kept going through things he would ask for and Y/n scoffed in disgust at this. She looked at Brunhilde. 

"I would wish to see everyone again." Brunhilde watched a smile grow on y/n's face along with the three individuals standing beside her. 

"Turn around Brunhilde," She did as told and saw Lu bu and his army, Adam, Poseidon, Hercules and the Valkyrie, her sisters. Goll throws herself at her sisters before at Hercules, crying the whole time. Everyone was gobsmacked but soon started celebrating their return.

"How did you?" Brunhilde asked in disbelief as she watched everyone. 

"I'm Y/n Goddess of All," Was the response she gave them. "It was a wish from the bottom of your heart. However, it helps that it was not their time to go." 

The gods realised how powerful she was.

Falling Feels like Flying

My contribution to @jaydick-week's NightHood Fanzine!

I did a collab with @allthatsentimentalcandyfloss - this was an idea I had two years ago during JayDick Week in 2022 and only had enough energy to draw a couple of gifs lol... BUT HERE'S THE WHOLE THING, FINALLY!!

Things to Note + Easter Eggs:

So this idea came about the whole "What must it be like to grow up that beautiful?" and the whole notion of Jason pining after Dick for YEARS and not thinking Dick could ever feel the same way ~

The idea of Bludhaven pier being their "Is this or isn't this a date?"-spot was designed after Coney Island that Elle and I went to with @the-man-moth two years ago ;w;

Jason's date outfit consists of a jacket with an 'RH' emblem on the sleeve and a worn out Eagles 'Hotel California' t-shirt underneath to go along with the "With my Eagles T-Shirt hanging from the door" lyric in the song that I cut out for this comic. Elle looked it up and Eagles apparently referred to the football team, but we cheated and made it the band instead LOL

I've said this for years, but the 'small-wing' collar with a bowtie is one of my favourite things to see ever, so I drew that on Dick instantly in the Gala Flashback scene lol

I don't know if I pulled it off well, but Dick was trying to be just as unsure about this being a date or not as Jason was ;w;

In the 'Coastal Town' (Bludhaven) flashback, Dick is eating cotton candy and Jason's eating a hot dog lol this was suppose to represent aving gone to the Bludhaven Fair/pier in the past where Jason won Dick a Robin Elephant plush uwu I bet the carny there was shocked to see Discowing and Robin pull up to their booth lol

I love how absolutely disconnected from reality that reply you got is. The fact that your account is titled OLDER THAN NETFIC, as reference to how you’re in your 40’s and were there to see star trek fanzines, and yet this person assumes you got famous off of tumblr and your first fanfic was supernaturally? I wasn’t this dense at the age of 13, and I was very dense at 13.
