TC and Honeybear

This is the first track off of Queen of Denmark, and it’s uncharactaristically folksy.  I don’t know what was going on in Grant’s life at the time (are you there John? Can you tell us?), but it’s hard to not see imagine that he Mary Sued as the Honeybear in this song.  It’s a charming little song about fear of loss, where an angel comes in on golden wings, accompanied by butterflies and rescues a bear from loneliness after he’d given up.  It’s a charming love story, with a background of fear (relatable, John - the worst thing about love is the prospect of loss) and musically a bit odd?  The folksy guitar transitioning to the moody piano on the album feels a little uncharacteristically jarring, frankly, but his live, piano version (with accompanying theremin!) feels vulnerable and innocent, and even hopeful.
