literally saying this as a hater of both veneers and plastic surgery but the reason you think those procedures "always look bad" is because when they're done well you can't tell they were done at all. survivorship bias or whatever
#like there absolutely are people out there with gorgeous natural-looking veneers i literally treated one today#but the thing is unless you're their dentist you can't tell they have veneers. because they're natural-looking.#the rise in super white super straight super square veneers is literally just a trend that's not what veneers *have* to look like#and tbh i can promise you a lot of dentists (or at least the dentists i've studied under) fuckin' hate that look too#but if that's what patients want they're gonna find a way to get it#anyway the line between 'cosmetic' and 'necessary' in dentistry is blurry bc dentistry inherently has cosmetic qualities#and also the cosmetics of your smile have such an extreme impact on your social development and quality of life#again i'm not a fan of veneers and there are very few situations where i'd recommend them#but it's not as black-and-white as 'veneers ugly and bad'

i saw that one disability-related post a while ago about dental care but i can't find it again so i'm gonna mention a few things as a (mild to moderately) mentally & physically disabled person, whose teeth hurt when i eat sweet stuff now + i've had a root canal due to a fall + i'm learning to take care of myself, that may or may not help other folks with their dental routine
note: i am not a dentist & this info is mostly what i've gleaned secondhand from dentists, so yeah, i am not an expert in any capacity
water flossers aren't as effective as regular flossing (doing both is actually what's most effective) but they're better than nothing & helpful in cases where coordination problems or other issues might prevent regular flossing technique (i imagine this also depends on the quality of the water flosser)
if you use one of the plastic pre-made floss picks things, rinse the string off in-between each time you use it to floss one side of a tooth, it's tedious but it mimics moving to a new (clean) part of the thread like you do with regular floss
if you get an automatic toothbrush, get one that does circular rotation rather than just vibrating or whatever, as this mimics the tools they use in a dentist's office + imitates the circular motion you're expected to make with a standard toothbrush (which is also hard with coordination issues), i got one that does this pretty cheap from walmart (it's an oral-b but i forgot the specific type) + it automatically times it for you
if you have white spots on your teeth that are uneven with the shade of the rest of the tooth those are potentially white spot lesions due to demineralization; whitening products can make this worse rather than help it, but some products can help with remineralization such as mi paste topical tooth creme, which contains calcium and phosphate (i have yet to try this myself but it seems to get suggested by a lot of dentists, orthodontists, etc. for white spots on teeth & it's also supposed to help with sensitivity and tooth health in general because the white spots are lesions so it's not purely cosmetic!)
it's advised to not rinse your mouth immediately after brushing as this potentially dilutes & reduces the effects of the flouride (if you use fluoride toothpaste), stuff says to wait at least 15 minutes or so
just giving your teeth a quick scrub (even if it's without toothpaste and just water) is better than not brushing your teeth at all
if you have trouble seeing a dentist for financial reasons, try to see if there are income-based or charity dental services in your area, sometimes dental schools also provide low-cost/free dental care
that's all i can think of for now, i wish i had more advice for people who struggle to be able to brush their teeth at all in general but this is all i got unfortunately :(
additionally - you're not bad, useless, gross, or a failure if you struggle to (or can't) maintain oral hygiene; this stuff is much easier for some people than it is to others & those who take it for granted like to forget that, no one deserves to be mocked or looked down on for being disabled & struggling to/not being able to do """basic""" stuff like this!

I spent, at a minimum, at least $500-$1,000 a month exclusively on my self improvement. Here is most of what I spend on, in no particular order:
Education (classes, books, courses, certifications, college tuition, seminars, etc.)
Private lessons for languages, musical instruments, sports, etc.
Personal hobbies and passion projects
Crest whitening strips (great when in a pinch), Invisalign, professional whitening, preventative dental care, prescription whitening products from my dentist
Investments such as index funds, REITs, ETFs, CDs, individual stocks, commodities, appreciative luxury items, precious metals & gems, etc.
Organic food, vitamins, supplements, high quality healthcare, therapy, massages, prescriptions (Rx skincare, etc.)
New glasses & contacts (getting some bayonetta glasses from Burberry soon, very excited)
Sports, gym membership + sauna, hot yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, tennis, skiing, dance, etc.
Personal care such as bath/shower products, body care, haircare, skincare, makeup, brightening eye drops, perfume, etc.
Travel, events, concerts, festivals, etc.
Shopping (clothes, accessories, home goods, etc.)
Eating out at restaurants and going to coffee shops
Beauty treatments such as manicures, pedicures, waxes, brow tint & threading, salon blowouts, hair cuts & colors, facials, lash lift & tints, vitamin IVs, etc.
Regular visits to my dermatologist, dentist, psychiatrist, eye doctor, primary care physician, gynecologist, and any other specialists
Semi-regular appointments with a personal trainer, holistic nutritionist, and dietitian
I don't do all of these every single month, but most of these are recurring throughout the year and budgeted accordingly. Eventually I might add in more intense cosmetic work like medspa services, Botox, etc. If you can find a workplace with a great benefits package such as high quality healthcare, an HSA/FSA, health & wellness reimbursements for the gym, disability & life insurance, etc. I would highly recommend it and max out all the benefits you can.

DCİDENTALCLİNİC - DEVASA+ (3)
Are you considering enhancing your smile and wondering about the costs involved? If so, you’re not alone. Turkey has emerged as a popular destination for dental procedures, particularly for implants and veneers, thanks to its affordable prices and high-quality care. In this post, we'll explore the pricing of dental implants in Turkey, providing insights into what factors influence these costs. Additionally, we will dive into the world of dental veneers and crowns available in Antalya, showcasing their benefits and how they contribute to an overall radiant smile.
İmplant turkey price
When considering dental implants, one of the most crucial factors that patients assess is the cost. İmplant turkey price are generally more affordable compared to many Western countries, making it a popular destination for those seeking dental treatments. The average implant turkey price can range from $300 to $800 per implant, depending on various factors such as the clinic's location, the expertise of the dentist, and the quality of materials used.
Another important aspect to consider is the all-inclusive packages offered by many dental clinics in Turkey. These packages often cover the entire treatment process, including pre-operative consultations, post-operative care, and sometimes even accommodations. This makes the overall dental experience not only economical but also convenient for international patients traveling for treatment.
It’s essential to conduct thorough research before selecting a clinic. Reading patient reviews, verifying the credentials of the dentist, and understanding what the quoted implant turkey price includes can help ensure a successful and satisfying dental procedure. With the right information at hand, patients can make informed decisions regarding their dental implants and en
Dental veneers antalya

Additionally, many dental clinics offer packages that include consultations and follow-up care.
For anyone considering dental veneers, it’s best to consult with a qualified dentist who specializes in cosmetic dentistry. They will provide patients with an understanding of the procedure, the expected results, and any potential risks. With the right guidance, achieving a perfect smile with dental veneers in Antalya can be a rewarding experience.

how the hell you making your teeth so white- /genq
Well, I need a steroid inhaler to breathe so brushing my teeth thoroughly and rinsing my mouth out to prevent fungal infection is a requirement
But as for actual tips, the list is a bit long so I'll leave it under the cut
Tooth Health and Strength
At the end of the day, the best way to get whiter teeth is to see and ask a professional (aka a dentist.) However, keeping track of your teeth's health at home can benefit to keeping them from turning yellow. In truth, there's two different kinds of tooth staining, and understanding the difference between them will be needed if you want to take the right steps. There are extrinsic stains and intrinsic stains
Extrinsic Stains
These are stains on the outside of your teeth and the kind that most people try to treat. These are caused by external factors such as the food you eat, smoking, what you drink, etc. Extrinsic stains are more of a cosmetic concern than anything else
A few tips to help with extrinsic stains are...
Drinks: Using a straw when drinking beverages that cause staining (coffee, soda, tea, red wine, energy drinks, any dark-colored, acidic, or high-sugar drink really) can help prevent staining of your teeth. I can't say this will 100% guarantee that there won't be any staining (your back teeth will more than likely still be fully exposed), but this can help lessen it
Food: Some foods may cause staining to your teeth. The only way to really get around this is to limit how often you eat these foods. However, I'm of the belief that you shouldn't have to focus your entire diet around your appearance (unless there's actual health-related complications affecting your quality life of course.) Therefore, I don't personally advise worrying too much about this.
Toothpaste/mouthwash: There are toothpastes and mouthwashes that have whitening agencies in them. However, I do not recommend making these your 24/7 default if you choose to use them and only to use these every once in awhile and in accordance to the instructions. Prolonged use of these products can cause teeth sensitivity and enamel damage. Always ask a dentist for what they recommend and don't be afraid to raise any concerns you may have
Whitening strips/paste: While these do exist, I personally don't use them. I won't tell you what to or not to do, but just be weary as these can cause tooth sensitivity and pain after long periods of time and may actually damage your teeth's enamel. Different brands have different strengths, so if you choose this route just be aware of what you're buying
Smoking/tobacco: These products will cause staining to your teeth. But, I do understand quitting isn't an easy task. However, they do affect your teeth's appearance as well as their health, so I figured I'd list them
Overall, using whitening products may help, but can also be dangerous if not used with caution in mind. These agents try to make your teeth appear whiter by bleaching them and may contain strong doses of hydrogen peroxide, carbamide peroxide, or chlorine dioxide. Always, always follow the instructions and if you feel something is wrong stop. Having "nice-looking" teeth is never worth having unhealthy teeth. Rather, I'd recommend to take steps to prevent staining from happening. And if you do still choose to use whitening products, I'd recommend to use them sparingly and with the supervision of a dentist
Intrinsic Stains
These stains are from inside your teeth and are typically linked to the health of your teeth. Tooth decay, cavities, genetics, some medicines, ect will cause these stains and add a yellow effect to your teeth. These stains are the ones that are more of a concern for your health
A few tips to help with intrinsic stains are...
Fluoride: Fluoride can help strengthen your teeth and prevent further decay. However, only use this according to the instructions and always see a professional if something seems off. While fluoride can help strengthen enamel and protect from decay, too much can end up damaging your teeth as well. A general rule of thumb is to always spit it out afterwards
Toothpaste + mouthwash: There's some toothpastes and mouthwashes out there that have restorative properties to your gum and teeth. Using these can help repair tooth enamel. However, they can not cure issues that have already occurred such as cavities; only a dentist can help with that
Floss: This will help prevent build-up that can cause damage to your teeth. Typically, you can choose between the floss picks or string. Overall, the string is better for cleaning, but if you prefer the picks you should use those over not flossing at all. Something is better than nothing. Just remember to change picks while flossing and not to use the same one for all of your teeth
If plastic waste is a concern for you with the picks, there are alternatives such as eco-friendly picks made from plant material. These are more expensive, but they are an option if you can afford it
If holding the string is a concern for string floss, there are tools that can assist so you don't hurt your fingers while flossing. These can be helpful for people who have difficulty flossing due to pain of the string around their fingers
Gum health: One aspect people forget is to always keep track with the health of your gums. While they may seem like a second-thought, they're also extremely important to dental hygiene. Remember to brush to the gum line to get rid of plaque and buildup. If you notice discoloration (ex. white gums) or bleeding make sure to keep an eye on it and tell your dentist so that they may advise on how to help. While it may not be cause for emergency, it can mean that there's a health concern with them
Choosing your toothbrush: Getting a really good electric toothbrush will pay off better than a cheap one or normal toothbrush. These can get more gunk off your teeth that the other forementioned ones cannot
Something important to keep in mind, while these can be prevented, the damage caused by them cannot be cured at home. The best way to deal with these is to get regular check-ups at the dentist when you're able to and to keep up with your dental hygiene
There's a lot of products that claim to be good for your teeth, and very well can be, but can also be very harmful if overused. Always do your research and consult with a professional
Now, you asked specifically for what I do. I cannot say my method is best, I'm no professional and I definitely make mistakes, but what I do is:
Use restorative toothpaste and mouthwash as my default
Floss
Always pay attention to what is in the products I'm using
I do use whitening toothpaste in moderation
I'll use a straw if I'm drinking something I know will stain my teeth
Use a good electric brush
Listen to my dentist
Anyways, sorry for the super long post. You probably weren't asking for all of this, but I kind of got fixated on it once I started typing out my answer
#Just some tips I could think of#Some of these we're probably obvious but I figured I'd list everything anyways#I just realized it took me two hours to write this I'm so sorry#➼ Inbox#➼ Blue turtle inner workings

A question re: the way you handle elf teeth: assuming that the multiple sets of teeth grow in slowly over time, does elf diet influence the speed at which they grow in? Or the health/durability of the new set once they are grown in? For instance, if Aredhel lost a tooth in a hunting accident but didn't damage the foundation/new growth, could she alter her diet to grow the new tooth in faster? (I assume nan elmoth would not have a cosmetic dentist in residence. )(Related: would times of privation, like the helcaraxe or the dying days of beleriand do long-term damage to the growing-in set of teeth??)
jrrt show me the dark and fucked up nan elmoth prosthodontia
ok OKAY taking with a large pinch of salt that i have never studied dentistry and performed extremely averagely in 100 level biology years ago, i think yes and yes!
aredhel eating a calcium-or-whatever rich diet to prompt faster and healthier tooth regrowth or regeneration makes a lot of sense to me, mostly because i firmly believe in the inverse—gwindor definitely lost teeth in angband, due to a poor diet as well as obvious physical trauma, and was unable to recuperate and replace them afterward; maedhros was a frequent client of the himring dentist because he just kept breaking his weakened teeth off in things (living and not) post-thangorodrim; etc.
regarding the trek over helcaraxe—during which i think the nolofinweans and their ilk were eating their horses and drinking seal blood to avoid starvation and thus not receiving much vitamin c, d, or otherwise—a lot of them suffered tooth loss and found themselves with slow-growing and very brittle replacements. i think disability and chronic pain struck the exiles quickly and in ways they didnt imagine: who would have suffered serious nutrient deficiencies in a fantastically plentiful land? certainly someone, but not a significant enough population that i think the amanyar would give a shit pre-darkening. so what do you think and do when your teeth start falling out on the ice? what is the precedent for that? is there one? were there dentists in aman? periodontists? orthodontists? or was the declining health and quality of ones teeth an entirely new experience in beleriand?
all teeth-related questions that keep me up at night
#ik im straying from the question now but the potential lack of health care in aman—#simply for the presumed absence of need for it—#makes me foam at the mouth#so called utopias and their absolute inability to accomodate disability etc etc#obligatory not a dentist disclaimer i just have nerve damage from dentistry malpratice and i think teeth. r so cool#cosmetic dentistry the Elfening#teeth#asks

Dental routine (healthy teeth)
As I said in a previous post, I used to have dental problems quite often, until I made some changes and had small areas of decay recalcify (I recently had a dental exam). These are changes most dentists won't tell you, but I paid a lot of money to see dentists who did share this information with me. Unfortunately for some people, brushing and flossing, as important as they are, are not enough on their own.
I do the following:
Brush with a high quality electric toothbrush (I use a Sonicare).
Use woven floss, gliding floss doesn't clean well (I use Boka).
Use a toothpaste with xylitol and fluoride or hydroxyapatite (I use Spry but I'm willing to experiment with other toothpastes).
Nasal breathing (I used to be a mouth breather which causes dry mouth and therefore a lot of dental and gum problems).
I consume foods that contain calcium and phosphorus and I supplement with D3/K2 and magnesium. Teeth need fat soluble vitamins and deficiencies in these can lead to decalcification.
I avoid mouthwash and use coconut oil instead (this step isn't necessary, I just like the coconut oil, but traditional mouthwash can kill the good bacteria in your mouth so I avoid that altogether).
I don't eat a lot of junk nor sugar. I still consume some sugar (fruits and dark chocolate and treats here and there) and I drink coffee everyday, yet these haven't negatively impacted my teeth (they did stain them but that's a cosmetic and not a health concern).
Steps 3-6 are steps that most dentists won't tell you about (at least mine didn't). But doing all of these steps really helped my teeth (6 isn't super necessary though). 1-2, 4 and 6 are great for gum health.
Definitely brush and floss and use fluoride toothpaste (I definitely do), but you need to address any airway disorders, dry mouth issues, and nutritional deficiencies as these can contribute to poor oral health no matter how hard you brush and floss.

Started My Ride (should be sleeping)...
...and wow i really hope we get past this set up with the boring dentist love interest soon. Everything is so sloooow. They're just standing there smiling blankly at each other and thank goodness they're not end game because this is somehow both dull and creepy. Not a good sign when my favorite moment is the cosmetic product placement. At least the lighting is decent.
It feels so dull though that I'm actually hopeful for a dramatic switch when the actual plot starts and the real love interest steps in.
(Also it can take a moment to adjust after switching from expensive high production quality Japanese show to a v. low budget Thai drama.)
