Something about how loudly Edwin says Charles' name in this scene has been driving me insane and I think I've finally figured out why.
Tumblr media
When Charles finds Edwin in hell, Edwin is rolled into a little ball of misery, covered in blood and quietly sobbing. It's probably a position he's developed over decades, making himself as small as possible, being as quiet as possible, trying to take up as little space as possible. He's almost pretending he doesn't exist in order to stretch out the moments before the spider finds him and the loop starts again.
Tumblr media
And then Charles says his name and Edwin looks up and sees Charles, and it's like all of his defenses just vanish. He doesn't whisper Charles' name, he says it, loudly, as if he has completely forgotten where he is and that they need to be quiet. He gets up, unfurls his limbs, slowly standing up to his full height, taking up space again. Every instinct in his body should tell him to stay hidden and as invisible and silent as possible, but Charles has just smiled at him, and Edwin speaks again, asking "Is that you?" and letting out a shaky breath of relief.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is completely vulnerable and exposed now, like Charles' arrival has made him completely forget that they are in hell and that he could be ripped apart by a spider doll demon at any moment. All the defences he has built up over literal decades just completely crumble as soon as he hears Charles' voice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then the spider comes and rips him away, and I don’t think it would have done (at least not yet), had Edwin not alerted it to his presence like that. I think that’s why this moment wouldn’t let go of me, because I always thought it shouldn’t be this easy for Edwin to abandon a survival tactic he has developed over decades of torture. But all it takes is Charles being there, and Edwin forgets everything else.

I can't stop thinking about the rings on Hermes' fingers. I can't. Whats the story behind those? Did he start wearing them because Charon gave them to him as a job well done? The weirdest gift imaginable to your professional associate?
Did Hermes steal them to be a cheeky bastard and got them fitted and put them on for the jokes? Did he start wearing them apropos of nothing? Just happen to start accessorizing like his professional associate? Is it part of a shared uniform? Can we see the employee handbook?
Did Charon go out and get rings commissioned to look exactly like his for not one, but two of his partner in crimes' fingers, slide each lovingly onto Hermes' corresponding digits, and then gently hold his now bejeweled hands in his own to see how they match, knowing Hermes will now carry something of Charon with him when he leaves him for his dangerous work?
I'm just. Asking. Questions. But I swear to God, if we get Charon's portrait and he has a feather or an orange ribbon somewhere on his person, I will be inconsolable for days.

You said that one day in Sans’ eyes, papyrus just started acting different. So what extent about Gaster go before he became Papyrus? Is it just personality, or does he have any other memories, and how does what he knew before Papyrus was Papyrus format in his brain for it to make sense?
Papyrus does not remember anything about ever being Wingdings, for him it's like an overly complicated amnesia.
He definitely has a feeling of something not being quite right but there's nothing but emptiness.
Tumblr media
Back when it all started that was all there was, an empty shell. Core parts of his personality still remained, but nothing more.
Papyrus' own personality developed around that actually, he feels forgettable and lonely, but mostly empty, that's why he tries so hard to make an impact in the world and make friends, look for something to defines him.
Papyrus is this and Papyrus is that, people would know who he is! Then obviously he would know who he is!
Tumblr media
He could be a royal guard, undyne's friend, a body guard, a king.
He's looking to be something that people would like, the only reason he's so obsessed with spaghetti is because he makes spaghetti with undyne, so he made it his mission to know EVRYTHING about pasta to be closer to undyne, to have a friend but mostly to have a chance at joining the royal guard. Papyrus "A member of the royal guard!" Everyone likes the royal guard.
He's desperately looking for things to fill that emptiness.
The thing is he does have his own things that he likes and is good at and are a part of him, he is very artistic, he like making puns (not the one's sans makes), and he likes making things! Like puzzles!! (Also machines, that bridge, his snowman). He definitely reads a lot and knows a lot of stuff, but he pretends that he doesn't and lies and doesn't want to be associated with labs, or hotland or the core.
That was a lot, but basically, to the core Wingdings and Papyrus are very similar, but they both drift in very different almost opposite directions, according to their experiences and some other stuff.
Papyrus tries very hard to be a good, kind and positive person even if he has to lie to himself and others.
Wingdings, I really need to start this comics so you can see.

I honest to god cannot see him as a motorcycle guy fhdsakj I see him more into classic low riders (as seen in Despicable Mr. Puzzles with that dumb car of his), but I'd say he is willing to give them a try-! And then cry about it after the ride FHDSKJA

I will say, while there are many parts of my job that I would happily toss into the sea, it's very neat to stumble onto people who have been doing their job with truly off-the-charts levels of competence, but---and this is key---without the Higher Ups knowing even a little bit about it. I've met at least three of them in the last week, who definitely have been keeping one of our branches afloat, just by dint of their extraordinary levels of knowing.
Or, alternatively---i have been working at my company for 7 months. I discovered today that the entire company has been keeping a repository of policies and documents, with version control and everything. I thought we had 3-5 policies stuck together with bubblegum and hope, but no, there is a whole database!!!
"I'm surprised your manager didn't...uh. Tell you?" said the very nice man who showed me how to find the database.
"Mhm," I murmured noncommittally, because the alternative was frankly, I'd be shocked if she knew it existed.

So, how did Mr. Puzzles achieve all five stars? Did he do something anyone likes, or did he brainwashed everyone?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Are YOU accusing ME of cheating? I will have YOU know that I EARNED THOSE STARS through MY talent! When THEY voted for the movie, they AGREED to give me CONTROL. Brainwash, HAH! I call it LOYALITY to my continuing SHOW.”
Like in the series, RTV earned his five stars during the Puzzlevision movie. However, he did not immediately lose them afterwards like canon Puzzles did. With exception for a few specific characters, the majority of the SMG4 world is under RTV’s brainwash. So be careful with what he tells you and what you tell him, you don’t want to end up like them, do you?

Have you heard of the Sum and Product Puzzle, aka the "Impossible Puzzle" because it initially seems like there isn't enough information to go on? I think I have the answer, and I'm mad about it.
I hadn't so I looked it up and here's Wikipedia's summary of it
Tumblr media
There's also an explanation, but I didn't look. I wanna figure this out myself.
So let's break it down.
"P does not know X and Y" means that X and Y are not both prime. If they WERE both prime, then P would know the two numbers right away. So if S KNOWS FOR CERTAIN that P doesn't know X and Y, that means that the sum of X and Y can't be made up of two prime numbers. So, for example, the sum can't be 20, since if X and Y are 1 and 19, P would get 19 and be able to easily deduce the values of X and Y.
So we have a bound for the sum here, so we just need to find all numbers that can't possibly be the sum of two primes. I tried to get a good list of all numbers that aren't the sum of two primes through trial and error, but I after I found the first few I just let the OEIS do the rest of the work for me
So our possible sums are: 11, 17, 23, 27, 29, 35, 37, 41, 47, 51, 53, 57, 59, 65, 67, 71, 77, 79, 83, 87, 89, 93, 95, and 97.
Now that doesn't narrow it down a TON, but we can probably do something with this. Now that P knows that these are all of the possible sums, they know FOR CERTAIN what X and Y are. Very interesting. That tells me a lot about the product.
So let's say X is 4 and Y is 7. Then P is 28, and S is 11. Now, other factors of 28 include 2 and 14, which add up to 16 (not on the list), so we could just say that and call it a day, but there's something else that perplexes me. What if P is 24? The factors of 24 are 6x4, 8x3 and 12x2, which give us sums of 10, 11, and 14, and 11 is the only one on the list, so we have new X and Y values for S = 11 that could also apply. And since the S mathematician said he knew what X and Y were upon hearing that P knew, we can safely say S isn't 11, since X&Y could have multiple possibilities.
So, simply put, we need a value of S where there's only one possible P that could work for it. On one hand that still sounds like a LOT of guess and check work, but on the other, I feel like there's a way to find this solution without that.
Doesn't matter. I did the guess and check work anyway, granted it was actually easier when I got to the higher numbers, since most possible factors of P went over the sum of 100, which is one of our limitations. Easiest way to find these unique products is to find the largest prime number (lower than the sum) and use that as one of our two values.
Tumblr media
So the conversation goes as such.
S sees that their sum is 17. Knowing that 17 can't be reached as a sum of two primes, S says "P does not know X and Y", which tells P that the sum is one of those numbers we saw up there. P's product is 52, he figures and he only knows two numbers whose sum add up to one of those numbers. So he says "NOW I know the value of X and Y". S hears that and figures that it has to be that one EXACT combination.
X and Y add up to 17 and multiply to make 52 which means that X and Y are 4 and-
