Hi sorry for asking im just genuinely curious, what are all the changes you'd make to the sun/ moon anime? Stuff like lusamine, guzma, etc. I love seeing you pop up in the guzma tag to rant abt how they butchered my guy, and im curious of all the stuff you'd personally change abt the anime bc it. It has problems. Sorry again for asking i just love disecting my fav media and discussing its flaws and how to better them!!!!

The biggest change would be letting Lusamine be a villain which in turn would let just about every character that got shafted actually get to have their stories.

Not shying away from her abuse which caused both Gladion and Lillie to runaway from home taking pokemon that were tortured by Lusamine with them. (Hell, you could even hint at some of the issues in Alolan society with overlooking/not talking about or helping with abuse)

Getting rid of the pokemon school angle since, the trial captains literally have only approximately an 8 year that they can be trial captains if the age cut-off is twenty and folks are expected to start their island challenge at 11. Those kids don't have the time to be dicking around at school, especially not the older ones like Kiawe and Mallow. Like, being a trial captain is a huge fucking honor in their society and they'd likely prioritize it over other stuff. Also, I don't care for nerfing characters for no good reason.

Storywise, I think using a combination of the story from the Sun/Moon game with some of the stuff from the Manga version of the story that managed to use stuff from Ultra without downplaying Lusamine's shit could make for the best adaption of the story with a few tweaks. -> Instead of the pokemon school plot, why not have Ash try his hand at being a research assistant? It'd be something new to do with him, give him a reason to be around and work with the professors, give him extra reason to explore Alola, and interact with Aether Foundation, and come in conflict with Team Skull. -> I can also see him trying his hand at the Island Challenge b/c of course, he's the protag. Hell, he can even make friends with the trial captains along the way.

-> Let Lillie be the deuteraganist proper! Let her be an actual trainer to Nebby! I hate some much that the games want us to have her pokemon just cause its the fucking box legendary, that's her pokemon and by all rights it would make more sense for her to catch it b/c that would be safer for Nebby in the long run. -> Not putting Hau on a damn bus for 97 episodes! He's the game *rival*, he's a major fucking character. Let this boy be present from jump and be both Lillie and Ash's rival. Explore his feelings about being stuck in Hala's shadow, the MC's shadow, and his sympathies with Team Skull.

-> ( A complaint I have with the games is I don't think Team Skull should be as rude or distant to Gladion as they are. Like, why would they make fun of him for being homeless if they're squatting in a rundown building? If Team Skull are supposed to be a group of homies and found family against the world, why wouldn't they adopt Gladion's prickly ass and tease him for being an edgelord? Also, just while Guzma acknowledges and respects Gladion for also escaping from and abusive household and wanting to get as strong as he can, I want more to be done with that than just paying lip service. Let them bond. ) -> Ah, yes, where was I? Gladion as a member of Team Skull. Not just hired help/an enforcer like in the games but an actual member. Let him bond with them damnit. And also keep him in a rival role to Ash while being a bad guy. Hell, its been a long time since I've watched the older pokemon seasons but it'd be fun to have a bad guy who keeps a long-running win streak over Ash. Let him keep his anime win streak and be a 'bad' guy.

-> Let Guzma have his role as the decoy big bad! Don't nerf him, don't slander him. Have folks mention him and have him show up at several points and have those eps be fucking heavy for one reason or another. He is a problem of a trainer and knows strategy and covers his team's weaknesses. -> While I hate everything the anime did slandering my guy making him the 'Undefeated' b/c he's a chicken that only targets weaklings, I wanna see Guzma being called the 'Undefeated' for serious, like folks thinking he's a chicken b/c of his ace and not taking every challenge sent his way but no he's actually good like that. I wanna see him beat Ash multiple times, yes Ash needs to beat him at some point to kickstart Guzma's character development but I wanna see him struggle to get that victory. -> You have no idea how much I want to see Guzma interrupt anyone who tries to use a Z move in a battle with him out of pure spite instead of just standing around doing fuck all while folks chant and do the poses. It would make so much more sense if he had his golisopod just sucker punch a pokemon in the middle of the z move stuff. It would be a good way to show that he's ruthless and very intent on bucking tradition. -> After I realized that like Guzma got possessed by a nihiligo in the of games and the manga and we were denied a perfectly good opportunity for a monster!Guzma rampage and opportunity to show how much Team Skull cares about each other that a 'I know yer in there come back to us Boss' and a 'help us save our Boss' could have added, I feel a bit miffed. Like I even commissioned fic to have just that and its good and everyone should read it and share with their friends. -> I do like that Team Skull didn't disband at the end of the anime. Them breaking up is one of the things I don't like about the games. Like, the can reform and stay together. (I also commissioned fic for Team Skull reforming while staying together and its good and everyone should read it and share with their friends)

-> Plumeria would have more things to do if Team Skull in general had more things to do and were taken a lil more seriously than they are in the anime. I do like the idea of her scouting and scoping and infiltrating in disguise. Also, I think she should make it farther in the pokemon league conference than she did b/c she's also a good trainer, and smart, and ruthless too. -> I think if she did make it further in the pokemon league conference and had to fight Guzma then that would be a great opportunity to show that the two characters are actually really good friends and know each other well. Certainly, I'd have Guzma win that fight, I'd also have that fight be the only one where he actually shows good sportsmanship towards his opponent. B/c he likes and respects Plumeria.

When it was on Netflix a few years ago I do remember watching some of the Pokemon Sun/Moon eps. And I remember how strange it felt that the ultra beast stuff had like a goofy Power Rangers type bend with folks suiting up as like a task force to deal with the things and just... idk maybe we should play the aggressive and fearful pokemon from another dimension more seriously. Darker at least. Cause like... ultra beasts kill people, they're a lot more dangerous than pokemon, they can do a good number on the environment more so than the invasives that are native to the dimension that the series takes place in.

So uh, you know what DoL is, that game is bat shit but fun if you ignore certain aspects ... Its got some nuts lore and everyday activities, like image Yuu saying something like "oh this place is pretty nice, I haven't been kidnapped or almost kidnapped and nothing too crazy happened!" Extra wtf points if Yuu had TF traits (maybe devine and animal for extra fuckery) like oh they aren't a beastman they just ate a bunch of weird shrooms wore a sick ass choker and prayed for 50+ days (Wolf + Angel TF)

I mean yes, there's some parts I'm glad you can toggle off cause holy fuck. Then again the creator said that it is a trauma simulator and the whole point of the game is that it never gets better but you can cope which is one of my fav tropes in horror. Like fear and hunger in that regard (I think abt these games a lot tbh).

The lore is so fucking intense and the fact there's a potential timeloop/eldritch being trapping everyone there and influencing them is fucking WILD. The whole world is a cage designed for you and it lets you know it.

Anyways. I can imagine that Yuu comes with a lot of trauma that needs to be worked out but they are one hell of a fighter... and I imagine Crewel is the one to break the horrible teacher curse and help them heal cause he's nice. Other students think you're insane for considering him kind. They also wonder why you put up with Crowley but he is an improvement from your previous headmaster.

Students getting their asses whooped in cause Yuu had to always fight for their life and shit.

So much "this is how it should have been" or "I wish I could have met you as a better person and loved you right away but I wouldn't have been able to love you as much as I do now cause you've been by my side"

Yuu panicking over the kids at the orphanage cause they're used to looking out for them. Bonus if maybe Deuce or Ace gets in trouble and Yuu takes the blame prepared for the most heinous punishment but instead just gets some boring homework to do and it kinda breaks them.

They share horrible stories that are relatable in their world and everyone just stops.

Also the transformation things in the game imply that Yuu to an extent is a shapeshifter that changes gradually. Can you imagine if a few months into the shool year Yuu gets Fae ears, maybe some animal like claws and sharp teeth, or even gills and they're like "yeah I can do that" or maybe they even fall in love with one of the non human boys and they start changing to be more like them cause they love them <33

Hellooo bonjour of course, I love a good ask, and your questions are so cool and I really want to answer them <3, so you're absolutely welcome!

(1) what drew me to the jegulus pairing? what is appealing about it to me that makes me want to write it?

I really connected with Regulus, because how can a character with such good intentions fuck up so bad? He's a really interesting character with a lot of flaws, yet you can't help but feel kind of sorry for him? I think it's interesting that we know so little, but what we know is full of contradictions? Homeboy supposedly proudly took the Mark but then tried to destroy the horcruxes? What makes a person do such a 180? It kind of forces us to think about what makes a person turn to evil, and what are the levers of evil (family pressure, depression, not feeling like a worthy cause, etc...). And James spoke to me because he's kind of sensible and easily hurt and I visualize him as having a very deep and rich inner life, kind of like Regulus. When he gets hurt, he'll try to get over it, he'll be confrontational, he'll forgive... but he won't really forget? I don't really write James as a happy-go-lucky guy, I tend to give him a more serious vibe, but I like how many characterizations you can find of him!

The both of them are really similar, they just externalize it differently. They both want to be loved for who they are, both are misunderstood as being either always mean or always happy, and both are tired of being put into boxes. They can be themselves with each other, put all the ugly and unlovable parts on display...and still find ways to be loved by each other.

Obviously they're fake characters that don't exist, this is just my interpretation of them and why I like writing/reading them.

I like the idea that someone unlovable can be loved, despite. Maybe it gives me hope.

(2) can I recommend a good starter marauders fic?

I have never read all the young dudes, so you're not alone.

I think my first advice is, you don't have to read the popular fics. There are a few I have read, a few I haven't, but just because everyone raves about it doesn't mean it'll hit for you, so give yourself the freedom to pick and choose your own adventures.

I'm going to go on a little tangent here, but ao3 really is an archive, and every damn day I find gems that have less than 10K hits, sometimes less than 10 comments, that are the bees' knees.

I urge you to just go in ao3 and dig, my friend. Pull your ao3 tags and go on a rampage. Try all the tags you think would interest you.

Don't only trust the comments or the hits. Low or high hit/low comment means nothing. One of my fav fanfic ever sits at a cool 40K hits from 2017 and I believe God wrote it, I can't imagine a human out there in the world wrote this stuff.

My point is every single comment/hit is deserved, and you have "popular fics" that are fantastic and got a lot of love (and deserve them), and unknown fics that are fantastic and deserve a lot of love (and you're gonna need to dig to find them).

My advice is: search tags, start reading chapter 1, see if you feel it. Either click out, or enjoy your meal. Take chances. My god, the things you'll find.

That being said, here are a few recommendations that I really enjoyed, from different registers, so you can have a little pick and see if anything tickles your fancy:

ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking by inthesquare  and really any fics by @aboutnavi. The way she writes tickles a part of my brain that I really just--*sighs in love*. Ladies and Gentlemen is a fic she wrote for me, but I got to know her through : living in border lines (one of my absolutely favorite fics for no reason that I can pinpoint, just that it hits and I cried a lot). I recommend living in border lines to anyone with a pulse. It's sad and depressing, and it just takes 4k to get you there. But it's like, beautiful? ALSO in the ether, there is a website by her made me sob but in a positive, lovely way. She really said, I'm going to write something the way no one has ever written anything before, and did that.

Cat and Mouse by MissAmericanBi. I'm friends with @hihimissamericanbi but I can say without bias that this fic rewired my brain chemistry. I was blushing and I think Celine has 36 pics of me in shock as I read it. O.O. It's smut. There's a cat. Her Regulus won my heart. 10/10 reading experience.

It's a question of where, not when by Idontthinkthats_pumpkinjuice realllllyyyy took me there. I don't know there's something about the CONCEPT that I just thought was really cool and fun and original. It has become a sort of comfort fic for me. It's so weird, I love it.

Tarte Tatin by veryinnovative (@veryinnovative) I started reading this when I was in Japan and I was experimenting with strange and wonderful food, and the story sucked me in. I've never watched the media it was inspired by, but the fic is chef's kiss.

Choices by MesserMoon (@sophsicle) was the fic that dragged me kicking and screaming into the fandom. It's not really fun, nor happy (but it has light-hearted moment. Like, they really try to be happy you know?). I loved everything about it. All their fics are great--just know you'll suffer reading most, but you'll be happy about it.

quite like us by alarainai was the fic that dragged me out of the deep dark hole Choices put me in. It's fun, it's fluffy, it's cute, it healed me. All their fics are great if you want to be happy and have a good time and look at life and think "Thank god I'm alive".

The Mystery of the Pears by sonwar. I'm currently reading this one, and I've been having a lovely time.

If I had to recommend one fic to read from my collection, it would be Le Mange Dieu et le Dévoreur de Mondes. I think you can really tell from the writing how much fun green and I had writing this. I'm extremely proud of what we did there, enough that we both got the name tattooed on our bodies last summer (don't do that. We both have lots of tattoos so we weren't bothered, but don't do that. don't tattoo fic names on your body. It's madness)

Anyway, I urge you not to take these as the gospel truth. It can be a starting point, but there are thousands of amazing writers out there with fics updating, or completed, just waiting for you to find them. I'm mostly writing, so I haven't read any fics from the Marauders fandom in a while. I don't know what's been thrown out there in the past few months, I'm sure there are so many gems!

Yeah, the Tumblr community is pretty quiet as of late. There are bunches of very nice peeps on twitter though - if you follow me there, you'll be able to find them eventually. But generally, the tdbk social media experience is pretty chill - it's just some people writing fics / drawing art / making threads about our sillies. We are rarely involved in discourse, which makes it less visible unless you look for it.

OC-tober Day 1: Fav OC

To the surprise of no one who pays any attention to my tags, it's Izz/Candor lol. My changeling rogue/paladin (oath of the ambling rose, a homebrew sublcass by L. on itch.io, go check them out!), though I would like to adapt their story away from d&d eventually. Candor is one of Izz's Personas. My partner and I have been obsessing over them for 2 and a half years and we're still going strong ✌

More info about them under the read more 'cause I'm gonna be rambling.

So there's Candor. A tiefling paladin, an itinerant knight traveling to help those in need, whether those needs be big or small. A kind man, a good man. He has dedicated his life to the betterment of others. Almost too good to be true, really, a caricature, but he is earnest in his beliefs and his purpose.

All of that is true. But it is not the whole truth.

Izz was stolen from their birth family as a very young child and placed with a changeling "family". They were trained as an assassin and information thief/spy, with the ultimate goal of taking on the family's legacy Persona of renowned assassin/spy Varna Shadowhawk.

This was not a pleasant process. They were extremely isolated, and their training was rigorous and intense, even more so as it became evident that Izz was quite talented and they were put under further pressure to aim for perfection. They also developed other Personas, full people separate from themself with their own memories, a tactic meant to ensure information could be kept secret between identities as well as have specialized skill sets.

Now, I think that changelings are naturally inclined towards plurality and it's generally totally normal and healthy. In this situation, however, their mind was purposefully broken down to be able to have more complete separation and to prepare for the insertion of the Varna identity, which resulted in both an unhealthy system and an unstable psyche. They effectively have fantasy-enhanced DID and also experience psychosis (usually triggered by stress or by forcing switches between Personas or reaching for information or skills of another Persona without switching). Part of their long term story and character development is working on getting their system to a more healthy place where they can cooperate with their other Personas, and finding happiness and support as they continue to live with psychosis (and CPTSD).

Varna, btw, was a her own whole separate person at one point. How did she become an inherited changeling Persona? Why? Dunno. We never learned in the game before it dissolved, and my partner and I haven't come up with the specifics yet on our own. I can tell you that the process of inserting her into a new changeling involves a necromantic ritual where the changeling is killed and a portion of Varna's soul is placed in them before they're resurrected :) From then on it's a slow process of her presence growing and subsuming the other Personas and then eventually the changeling themself, becoming the Singularity. It's fine, don't worry about it.

Now Izz was all set on this path, forged into a ready vessel and living weapon. They didn't know any other way...but there was one small hiccup. One of their other Personas, Karim, a survivalist and cartographer, while out in the woods one day ran into a man named Veylan. A paladin and do-gooder, with an oath to travel wherever help is needed. And, surprisingly, they hit it off. And they keep running into each other, over the years. Karim learns about this crazy thing called "morals." Compassion. Caring for others. Veylan, so often alone on the road and apart from others even as his life's mission is to help them, finds a friend.

And one day Izz gets a glimpse of him through Karim's memories. Curious, they dive, rooting through their past interactions. And it's like the world opens up to them. A way to exist they had never conceived of. They become obsessed, and terrified, hoarding the memories that are not theirs but keeping them hidden and buried, knowing the punishment from their guardians if they found out would be swift and brutal, and Veylan would be in danger. But the thoughts of another life linger and grow. Especially as their younger adopted sibling, Yan, nears the time when the ritual will be performed. They have no concrete plan, but... what if they could get out. What if they could get Yan out, before they're cursed with Varna's soul.

Their older sibling, Ged, finds out. They find the barn where Karim will next meet Veylan. And, wearing Karim's face to get close, they kill him. Karim shows up and finds his friend dead, his own face above the body. Izz sees the death of their god. And in a fugue state of grief and rage, they kill their sibling. They take Veylan's holy symbol and armor. They take his face. They should not have been to walk out of here alive, so they don't. They make Candor in Veylan's image, and he walks away instead, knowing nothing of Izz or any past beyond his own hazy, half-formed memories and a desire to do good.

Hmmmm well the three main fandoms I kinda rotate thru currently are The Great Ace Attorney(brry), Metal Gear(otasune), and Dungeon Meshi (labru)

God, yes!! A lot to love about that scene. Yoru following through, because he is the biggest freak. Asaichi shocked and flustered that Yoru is following through. Asaichi coming immediately when Yoru says he likes and admires him. Asaichi calling him a fag and a freak and kicking him, like I don't like mean semes but I like semes being mean, ykwim? I thought it was hot. I still didn't like Asaichi because I read it as more abusive than tsundere at the time, but I for sure see where you're coming from. Like, he's being mean because he doesn't like how much he liked it 😭

Yes the robojesters are very silly and I have to say I'm seeing the FNAF fandom leaning on the head canon that they may have not originally been child-care robots, but on-stage actors, and we're just given child-care programming later which makes me 👀 I love them being doting kiddo caretakers but also the idea of a dedicated thespian being throwing into a pile of wailing children and told to figure it out is absolutely hilarious to me.

Also yes!! I love me some Sanders Sides!! Love my boys. No one is surprised but Patton's bit with the tinier and tinier boxes absolutely was my favorite part. My parents did that when I was like ten and it started off with this GIANT box and I think there were at least six I had to go through before I found a plush of Snoopy and tickets to go to Camp Snoopy at Knott's Farm (forever salty that it was bought by Nickelodeon). My fairy-sona's outfit is themed to a crossover of the two, though it was more lunar moth like when I first put it together. It's evolved a lot over the years.)
