I made mines and you can probably make yours too!
youtube
Here's the super beginner friendly tutorial I followed, it took me two weeks working on it on and off a couple hours at a time, you only need like, two beginner stitches and one of those is chaining, which is like. THE first thing you learn. I believe in you. Feel free to look up tutorials on the stitches as well, sometimes you need multiple tutorials to follow just one tutorial esp as a beginner! :)
after I made the first one I decided to ditch the second hook, which wasn't THE move, but if you only have one hook, I recommend making a few more chains to accommodate the width of your head, like 3-8 more chains should do it. Just try it on and make sure the ring fits loosely around your head bc that part folds over itself eventually and you need to leave a little space to accomplish The Other Layer Of Yarn, you'll see what I mean.
A little more intermediate, I still struggle with the magic circle part, but here's a tut for the skull applique I think this is the one I used! Just stuck a barrette through the underside and used that to pin it to my hat! Ez pz pumpkin pie

You all need to hear this:
1. You probably dont suck at your craft as much as you think you do, I bet a lot of people are amazed at what you can make, and
2. If you actually are the Literal Worst In The Whole Wide World at your craft... who the fuck cares? What are they gonna do, call the police on you? Keep making your shitty little things, youre the boss of you, fuck the haters.

Let go of the idea that diy will inherently look shit. All your clothes are handmade you just don't see the people doing it.

“why is no one DIYing their own clothes anymore :(“
*calls crochet wearables ugly* *dedicates whole subreddits to mocking ppls bacttlejackets* *dedicate whole subreddits to mocking beginners* *never shows themselves sewing, crocheting, or knitting only complains about those who don’t* *lumps customizing preexisting clothes with sewing your own pieces from patterns and fabric under “DIY”* *calls punks with crust pants dirty* *is STILL harassing that woman on tiktok for her rust dyed pieces* *thinks just bc there’s no goth bar in their bible belt state and saw some annoying teenagers on tiktok the WHOLE ENTIRE DECADES LONG SUBCULTURE IS DEAD*

What exactly do these AI dudebros mean when they say “art isn’t accessible” ?
Do they mean creating art isn’t accessible? Because you can buy a pack of pencils and a notebook at the store my guy. You can learn writing, pottery, sculpting, scrapbooking, photography, candle making, painting, woodworking, digital art, programming.
Or do they mean finding art isn’t accessible? My brother in christ you’re on the internet there’s art literally EVERYWHERE! Follow artists, go to a museum, an art gallery, a concert, read books, watch movies and shows, watch documentaries about your interests, listen to music, play video games, watch youtube videos, it’s literally all art. If you can sit on your phone or computer and tweet about AI then you can access art very easily by simply doing any of the above.
They just want something easy, they don’t want to actually learn how to create, but the price of easy is stealing other peoples creations by making soulless images and destroying the planet.

Howdy, my name is Critter. Have y'all heard of this lil thing called Craftivism? Here are 5 types of Punk/DIY Crafts I think we need to embrace, sooner rather than later!
Crochet/Knitting
Yarn and crochet/knitting supplies are relatively easy and inexpensive to get your hands on, and learning to crochet/knit is relatively easy with video tutorials. Once you learn the basics, you can create patches and clothing items that support certain causes. You can also do yarn-bombing (essentially graffiti using crochet/knitting) as a way to spread awareness about certain issues. Here are the patterns I listed above:
LGBTQ Pride Keychains
BLM Patch
Palestine Flag Heart
LGBTQ Pole Wrap
Womens March Hat
Pins
All you need is something hard and sturdy to act as the base for your pin (bottle caps work best), soda tabs + a safety pin, and some glue to secure everything. Paint or decorate them however you please. Let people know who you are and what you stand for.
Kandi
While Kandi can be a way to express yourself and your identities, it is also a way to make community. Kandi-trading is huge in the EDM scene, and it is a huge part of why that community is so tight. You don’t need to make anything elaborate, especially to start out - just get some cheap pony beads from the dollar store, some letters, make some pretty bracelets. Keep them, trade them, give them away.
Embroidery
Embroidery is a very fun and useful skill to develop, as you can basically put whatever you like wherever you want. Mend your socks, personalize your jacket, make some patches. Stop buying those shitty embroidered clothes from temu or shein and make your own one-of-a-kind pieces. Learning embroidery is pretty easy, just get some fabric, some thread, a needle, and go ham.
Zines
Zines are not only a way to spread awareness about certain issues, but they are a way to express yourself and talk about your personal experiences. I’ve included instructions on how to fold a zine, as well as some examples of zines. If you would like to learn more about zines & their history, I recommend @/decolonizationcoven on Tiktok. If you would like more examples of zines, check about any social media platform, but especially Pinterest. Lastly, if you would like inspiration for zines, Canva has lots of templates of zine layouts that are easy to replicate.

Spider-Punk cardigan is done! I stopped and started a lot during the process, but it ended up taking about 2.5 weeks from start to finish.

From the same commission in December as the lobster, the client requested Hobie Brown aka Spider-Punk from Across the Spider-Verse. He has so many details that I spend hours working on, plus a hand painted (by my partner) 3D printed guitar.

out of step with the world!
Minor threat sweater I made a few years ago that I picked up from my dad's house today. Will share the pattern with anyone interested if I can find it (only the sheep diagram, sweater pattern itself was 100% improvised)
