Happy Sunday! I hope this new week will be gentler on everyone 💕 here are some sentences from a 5x05 coda I posted on Friday: the brink of a wrinkle in time

Carlos lays his head on TK’s chest, letting TK continue to pet him as he listens to his heartbeat. “Remember the Ranger I was telling you about the other week, Campbell?”

“Idiot soup man? Yes, I do recall that guy.”

TK feels Carlos smile against his skin. Carlos begins tracing constellations between the moles and freckles on TK’s body. “He told me for their first anniversary eleven years ago, he got his wife a dozen red roses, ten tulips, six pink peonies, and some stargazer lilies.”

“Wow,” TK hums. “He remembers all that all these years later?”

“That’s the thing,” Carlos glances up. “He phones it in for every holiday, every anniversary, every birthday. It’s the same flower arrangement every time.”

TK blinks. “You’re joking.”

Carlos shakes his head. “He told me that she gets it. That his wife gets she has to be second to his job because someone else is counting on him to solve a homicide or a kidnapping.”

TK’s eyebrows shoot up at that and his sass hand is about to make an appearance when Carlos keeps talking.

“I think that’s stupid. I’m married to you, not my job. And I don’t want you to have to get it or settle for less than what you deserve. You already know my job is important, same as I know yours is…” Carlos shakes his head. “I just think it’s bullshit to push your spouse to the side because you should be using your brain all the time to think about the next case.”

TK softens as Carlos talks. This all really is just about finding his dad’s killer. TK knows he’s married to a good man who will always treat him right. Maybe they both lost focus of that recently, but things aren’t hopeless because they need an outside force to talk to, and maybe it’s because of couples counseling, or because of what Carlos dealt with at work, but he seems more receptive to listening to what TK has to say than he has in months.

“Sheesh…I feel like I should take Mrs. Campbell out for coffee and find out if she’s sleeping with other men,” TK grins.

“TK!” Carlos huffs and pinches TK’s hip, but he’s laughing too, and it’s one of the sweetest sounds TK has ever heard.

This is from the TK's birthday fic I'm working on - "The December Baby"

It was a small change, but the smile on TK’s face always grew bigger when he watched his little brother on the screen during their Facetime calls.

Which made Carlos happy he wasn’t the focus, cause his smile was out of control.

“Daddy,” Jonah was saying, tugging on Enzo’s sleeve as he balanced the two-year-old in his lap, “I wanna show TK my cake”.

“We can send him a picture of the whole thing,” Enzo suggested. “We’ve just got pieces here. But we’re not getting it out again tonight. It’s late. Jonah Bear,” Enzo said, nudging his pouting son, “do you want to tell your brother about your cake? What did auntie Vera make you?”

“Jonah, you got a Vera cake?” TK exclaimed. “Those are the best ones! What kind was it?”

“Marbles!” Jonah exclaimed excitedly, bouncing in his dad’s lap.

“Marbles!” TK exclaimed just as happily. “That’s the best one!”

“And Jonah, who was on your cake?” Enzo prompted.

“Wreck-It Ralph!” Jonah answered, his eyes shining. “I can wreck it!”

“That’s what he says,” Carlos said quietly in TK’s ear.

“Thank you, baby”. TK chuckled.

“Jonah bear,” Enzo asked, “what does Fix-it Felix say?”

“I can fix it!” Jonah said, giggling as Enzo kissed the top of his head.

Decorative Plates

It's been awhile since we last posted something on the theme of the decorative arts, so I'm happy to have found this book—especially because it was mis-shelved in the stacks! This book is House and Garden's Book of Color Schemes, which contains "over two hundred color schemes and three hundred illustrations of halls, living rooms, dining rooms, bed chambers, sun rooms, roofs, garden rooms, kitchens and baths; the characteristic colors of each decorative period; how to select a color scheme, with unusual treatments for painted furniture and floors; a portfolio of crystal rooms and eight pages of unusual interiors in color." It was edited by long-time editor of House & Garden Richardson Wright (1887-1961) and Margaret McElroy, associate editor, and published by Condé Nast Publications, Inc. in 1929.

The book includes a large number of photographs of rooms, however, they are mostly in black and white—an unfortunate thing for a book about color! The promised eight color illustrations of rooms are not all present in our copy, but the five that are still in the book are shown here, alongside some of their black and white compatriots. I especially love the one titled "Tawny Yellow in Variety" that features a shocking amount of leopard print.

If you've read any of the posts I usually write, you know that I love a good binding—this one is a publisher's binding in a chartreuse-y yellow book cloth with art deco-style silver tooling featuring stars and leaves. Somebody took it upon themselves to write the publication date on the cover above the title—how thoughtful!

"How many fingers am I holding up?" Paul asks, flipping TK the bird and grinning. He's been trying to keep a laugh at bay and is failing. "I leave you guys alone for ten minutes, and both of you get punched in the face? How did that even happen?"

TK just groans at him, surly.

"Who was that guy?" Carlos asks, turning to them.

TK's left eye is swelling and he can't open it properly, but his right eye unmistakably glares. "I didn't catch his name."

"Really? It seemed like you might know him pretty well."

"Oh yeah? And what about Mr. California who you were all over?"

"Mr. California?"

"Mr. Speedos Model."

"What? Ezekiel?"

"Ezekiel?" Paul remarks. "You know a Speedos model called Ezekiel?"

Alex drags himself from the kiss to ask, “So, what does this require?”

“All that is required is we both ‘spill our seed’ and repeat a few quick phrases. How we do that is entirely up to us.’

“Wonderful,” Alex mutters against Henry’s lips, retaking them and practically climbing up him to get closer. When Henry grabs under his ass and hoists him up the wall, Alex gives thanks for vampire strength. While he wasn’t always as big as now, post-werewolf transition, he’s always been solid from the years of lacrosse and then working out and running while in college and law school to keep himself sane. Being held against the wall while kissing Henry and exploring with his hands makes him feel safe and wanted in a way he’s not experienced before.

“I know it’s not my call, but I think you should talk to someone about why you felt compelled to do something so suicidal.”

As soon as he says it, Carlos realizes how much he overstepped, how dramatic that sounded, but then he watches as something in TK seems to be cut loose. The edge to his glare gets smoothed by a wet sheen in his eyes. The tears don’t fall, his gaze doesn’t waver but TK looks so lost now and Carlos can’t even help him to be found. Not touching him suddenly is the hardest thing Carlos had ever done.

“Yeah,” TK says, a crack to his voice. “Totally.”

“Do you have someone you trust like that?”

“Sure.”

It sounds like nothing could be further from the truth.

“Your dad? Your firehouse? Friends and family in New York?” Carlos prompts, leaning over the desk and hopefully pushing the tissue box closer to TK with some subtlety. A single tear rolls down TK’s cheek, gathering in the corner of his sore mouth but he doesn’t give any other indication Carlos’ words penetrate. The next words feel like damp paper mache in Carlos’ throat but he spits them out anyway, “Does your boyfriend know where you were?” OPEN TAG <3

Happy Sunday, everyone! With the Time Loop AU finally finishing, it seems most fitting to share one more little snippet, though this feels more like a tease, before the first chapter is goes up this week! Let me know if you want to be tagged when it does :)

After checking around him for a second time, he goes to Google and types in: I think I’m in a time loop.

“I’ve got to be losing my mind.” He mutters to himself as he scrolls through the results. Carlos knows he’s a level headed guy but he’s also someone who’s based in truth; and the truth is, he can’t think of any other explanation for why today has gone the way it has.

He spends about thirty minutes combing through articles, forum posts, basically anything he can get his hands on. He finds a couple that he plans to revisit a little later in the day, but for the most part, he’s not getting any answers.

Everything he’s read about has to do with people feeling like they’re stuck in life; like they’re so stuck in a mundane circle of time that everything has started to feel too familiar.

Carlos can empathize with that, of course he can. That thought process was the only thing traveling through his mind this morning, but with the way the rest of the day has gone, it can’t be that.

Remembering Beau’s face, his canine tooth, his Appalachian drawl, that wasn’t born out of the mundane, it couldn’t have been. Causing mayhem to O’Connell’s lunch plans because he already knew the answer to a question he never asked, that couldn’t have been an accident.

This isn’t monotony, this is a replica.

How my Genshin break and HSR binge is going:

This fight was easy. I'm a little sad I had to change up from my first team comp because I took out Ratio and Tingyun, but Harmony Trailblazer had to be added. This team still got the job done, just not as quickly. (Honestly, HSR is easy to play, but people just actively choose not to read. 😑 Or be patient. The hints, tips, and weaknesses are right there.) My Himeko and Serval were barely built during this fight too. Ma boi, Aventurine though✨; E1 with his signature light cone, ofc. . . Don't look at me like that; my Gepard would have been just as useful as the sustain if an Ice type was needed in this fight.

Funny enough though, I started playing HSR thinking I would be an Erudition main because I liked Serval so much, but Gepard came swinging in as my first 5 star like, "Yeah, no. My sister can't handle that kind of responsibility." So, I decided to become a "sustain main," though that probably doesn't exist in this fandom or they're just very rare, meaning if my "friends" need a Preservation or Abundance character to support, I have some ready on standby. Unlike the 10,000 DPS units out there. Build your DPS units right and you won't have so many problems, Susie! I'm working on Gallagher right now, but I made the mistake of raising my Equilibrium level today when my characters aren't ready. So, farming is taking longer than necessary. (My process is chara.level > light cone > relics > traces, because I forget traces exist most of the time💀)

Don't be mistaken, I do have damage dealers/DPS and other units built, i.e. Himeko, Dr. Ratio, Dest.Trailblazer, and even little Herta. But I've dedicated myself to the "You're not allowed to die without my permission" curse. My Bleach Brave Souls main is Seinosuke Yamada, a healer. I didn't even mean to have him as my best character.

For future teams, I want Jing Yuan and Robin. An upgraded Serval with FuA and the newest Harmony unit? Yes, please. If Sunday ever becomes playable, I'm definitely pulling for him though. I just added a new birb man to my harem. I can see him as the "opposite" of Robin. So, a Quantum or Imaginary element with the Nihility or Erudition path; I also went off of the vibes his Boss fight gave. On Sunday's note, I don't think becoming a Stellaron Hunter should be a part of his character development. No, I will not elaborate.
